A far cry from the exclusivity of real members’ only boating social clubs, irreverence is the name of the game at Denver’s Yacht Club, a self-proclaimed ‘anti-club club’ that bears the playful slogan: ‘Yachty by nature’. There, owners Mary Allison Wright and McLain Hedges aimed to combine three of their favorite types of drinking joints – cocktail bars, natural wine bars and dive bars – to achieve the ultimate hangout for locals and visitors alike. Thanks to its eco principles, Yacht Club is named the winner of the Ketel One Sustainable Bar Award 2023 . Located in North Denver’s historic Cole neighborhood, there is zero pretension at the casual bar, which many Coloradans consider the equivalent of their modern Cheers. Drinks-wise, the programme mixes an eclectic approach of high – they have a fortified wine bottle list, for example – and low (like the Old No. 7-11 combo, which is a Jack and Coke with a hot dog). Even the finest spirits find a home in quickie combinations, which also sometimes skew somewhat nautical, with drinks like the Frozen Banana Daiquiri and Champagne Mojito bringing breezy fun to the mix, and the ‘Soft Bangers’ section of the menu features a few alcohol-free options for non-imbibers.

If you want some of the most delicious food served by some the most beautiful wait staff in Livonia you will not be disappointed between the pretzel bites, quesadillas, and pizza. Trust me when I say the atmosphere here is pretty chill and relaxed. But most importantly ask for Tyler. Out of all the staff she is number.

I was told by my employees to come here for lunch. To say I was surprised is an understatement. It's a hole in the wall bar with pretty good food I must add. Which I was surprised the food was good to be honest. I had a Southwest Philly that was really good and fries I wouldn't say that this place is family friendly though. The staff runs around in very small bikinis and most of them are tattooed up. There were a totally of two female patrons in the establishment while I was there. The staff is very friendly and the place is full of locals. If I was out with the guys this might be a place we would go. Definitely not a place for a first date, unless she's into that kind of thing.

Fun place on the water. I would say better than average pub fare. Burgers are good. Beware if you're gonna bring your family, the girls wear very small bikinis and every not and then lingerie. But if you're just going to go grab a drink, then what better place to be!!

Best place for pizza hands down!!! Was disappointed to hear they had a fire and the wood burning pizza was affected. Being waiting quite awhile to have pizza and so glad it is up and running!!! Plus girls are very friendly and customer service is always top notch. Definitely be back for pizza and future visits!!!

Dingy, dirty, food average at best. But if you go here you already know what you are getting into. I like it. :)

Literally everyone on yelp in an asshole. This place is sweet. It's your average bar and grill with good looking girls in bikinis. If that's not your vibe then don't fucking go. 10/10 place if you know what your setting is. Don't walk in with your food critic attitude and khakis on expecting it to be for you. Know your people.

A Livonia staple...albeit dated. The first sentiment they came to my head is the old adage "just Because it comes in your size, doesn't mean you should wear it" (pertaining to the wait staff), but then again this place is frequented by many, that would also frequent "Bogarts" on Michigan Ave. Nevertheless, you can expect mediocre service, and run of the mill, artery clogging bar food. The scenery is ok, until you remember your looking at a tributary of the Rouge River!! . Other than the occassional parking lot fist fight, the crowd is mostly desperate guys looking to score a date with the wait staff that likely comes from one of the many local Westland apartment complexes. Lastly, the pizza is worthwhile.

Friends took me to this place to end our night. When they mentioned it, I thought it was a completely different place. What I was thinking of was this nice little bar with a full drink menu and wine and food. This was a completely different experience. HaHaHa! First of all, this is a bikini bar. I honestly didn't know this was a thing until a couple of years ago when one of my buddies took me to a different one on Livonia. Oddly enough, doing a quick Yelp! search showed that Livonia has three of them. Weird. Anyway, our waitress was nice and didn't seem to bothered by five loud guys telling ridiculous tales of our youth fighting dragons. This is absolutely a dive bar. Don't expect anything more, buuuuuut they had a surprisingly lengthy draft beer list. While the selections probably wouldn't make mustachioed snob thrilled, it is extensive enough that people who actually just like beer will enjoy. My one friend and I split the nachos and it was actually really good. The chips were light but balanced and the toppings were generously covering the chips. I went in with minimal expectations and left having a great impression. I love when I'm surprised like this.

Very casual and chill atmosphere, good spot if you just wanna have a few beers with friends. In the summer you can sit on the outdoor deck by the water. Service varies every time. Usually the waitresses are really nice. If you don't already know the girls are all half-dressed. It's a bikini bar. I recommend getting the Appetizer Tray. It has 2 jumbo jalapeño & cheese stuffed soft pretzels, 1 lb of chicken wings, battered & fried shrimp, mini beef & cheese tacos, & onion rings. Talk about cheat day!

My beer was cold but not as cold as the bartender. She should have had more clothes on for sure. Ordered a beer and a menu was planning on having lunch. I guess she didn't give a rats ass sat there for 20 plus minutes and was never even asked for my order even as my glass sat empty. When I finally asked for my tab and thanked for taking my order she could care less. I would avoid this dive. No yacht club here.

We are a space where all are welcome. We are a nerdy cocktail bar, a natural wine bar, and your favorite dive bar all in one. We believe in accessibility to deliciousness and that a good time shouldn’t be unattainable, but rather had by all.

We got the goods.

The drinks at Yacht Club are first and foremost aimed at enjoyment - with the best quality of ingredients, care and love that make for some seriously fun (and delicious!) drinking. We lean coastal while not being tropical, we focus heavily on split based wine forward cocktails, and aim to get the most out of every ingredient that comes through our door - all of this is part of our ultimate belief and ethos in a holistic approach to sustainability.

Our wine list features some of the world’s most highly regarded farmers/winemakers at approachable price points, both by the glass and the bottle. The ever-evolving list of just over 200 labels of natural wine span the gamut from classic benchmarks to the most rebellious anti-establishment producers. Every night we pull something super special from the cellar to feature on our “Break Even Bottle” board where you can experience these rare and highly sought after wines by the ounce, at cost, because we believe that they are a luxury to be shared and enjoyed by all.

And for those that like to keep it easy, we've got you covered with cheap canned beers, combo packs, and the Old Number 7-11, which is a Jack + Coke w/ a hotdog because when we say we've got that dog in us this is what we mean.

Last but not least, the dog, the myth , the legend...Hollywood Frank! We use RiverBear Meats uncured all beef natural casing hotdogs, which are Denver’s finest in our opinion. Any dog can be made into a veggie dog, with Udi's gluten free buns available too. Food is served every night until 2 a.m.

In  this video  a Russian soldier is wounded by an FPV drone. While he is lying in the road and his comrade walks up to him, he motions to his head. His comrade then finishes him off with a shot to the head.

Russian Court Extends WSJ Reporter Evan Gershkovich’s Detention

A Russian court extended the detention of Evan Gershkovich by three months, almost a year to the day since The Wall Street Journal reporter became the first U.S. journalist to be detained there on an allegation of espionage since the end of the Cold War.

The 32-year-old reporter, whom the U.S. government deems wrongfully detained, has been held in Moscow’s Lefortovo Prison since March 29 last year, on an allegation that he, the Journal and the U.S. government vehemently deny.

In a closed hearing at the Moscow City Court, a judge granted the request of investigators from the Federal Security Service, or FSB, that Gershkovich remain behind bars awaiting trial until June 30.

Russian law allows investigators up to a year in criminal cases deemed particularly complex to prepare for a trial, but grants further extensions in exceptional circumstances.

Tuesday’s ruling, the fifth extension of Gershkovich’s detention, comes ahead of the one-year mark of his detainment on Friday and amid efforts by the Biden administration to secure his release. The U.S. government says Gershkovich has never worked for it and isn’t a spy.

U.S. Ambassador to Russia Lynne Tracy said outside the court that Gershkovich remained remarkably resilient but his continued detention was “particularly painful” given that this week marks a year since he was detained.

“The accusations against Evan are categorically untrue. They are not a different interpretation of circumstances. They are fiction,” she said.

Gershkovich’s detention is “not about evidence, due process or rule of law,” Tracy said. It is about “using American citizens as pawns to achieve political ends,” she added.

The Wall Street Journal said in a statement, “It’s a ruling that ensures Evan will sit in a Russian prison well past one year. It was also Evan’s 12th court appearance, baseless proceedings that falsely portray him as something other than what he is—a journalist who was doing his job. He should never have been detained. Journalism is not a crime, and we continue to demand his immediate release.”

Russian investigators haven’t publicly presented evidence for their allegation against Gershkovich. Moscow has said it is acting in accordance with its laws. Most of the court proceedings have taken place behind closed doors.

Last week, Jason Conti, general counsel for Journal publisher Dow Jones, told a panel hosted by the National Press Club in Washington that the U.S. government should consider immediate consequences, including sanctions, against authoritarian countries that wrongfully detain reporters.

The Biden administration sanctioned the FSB about a month after Gershkovich, who was accredited by Russia’s Foreign Ministry to work as a journalist, was detained during a reporting trip in Russia. The sanctions were in the works before Gershkovich’s detention, senior administration officials said at the time, with President Biden saying the move would apply further pressure on Russia.

Gershkovich’s designation as wrongfully detained commits the U.S. government to work to secure his release. He and Paul Whelan, a Michigan corporate-security executive serving a 16-year sentence for espionage in a Russian penal colony, are the only Americans categorized by the State Department as wrongfully detained in Russia.

President Vladimir Putin, who was re-elected for a fifth term earlier this month, indicated in February that he would be open to a prisoner swap for Gershkovich if Moscow and Washington reached an agreement. Putin declined to give a time frame for a deal and didn’t specify who Moscow was demanding in return for Gershkovich. But he made clear reference to Russian operative Vadim Krasikov, now serving a life sentence in Germany for gunning down a Chechen émigré in a Berlin park in 2019.

Days after Putin’s remarks, associates of Russian opposition politician Alexei Navalny, who died in an Arctic penal colony in February, said a proposal to trade him and two unnamed American citizens held by Moscow for Krasikov had been under discussion.

Putin told a news conference earlier this month that, days before Navalny died, he had agreed to exchange him with prisoners in the West, on the condition that the opposition politician—the Kremlin leader’s most potent critic—never return to Russia.

U.S. national security adviser Jake Sullivan later told reporters that U.S. officials had never heard a Russian official “raise Navalny as part of a prisoner swap” in any conversations between the two sides. Relations between Washington and Moscow have deteriorated starkly since Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022.

Responding to a request for comment on the progress of negotiations on a possible exchange for Gershkovich, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed that communication between Moscow and Washington is ongoing, but didn’t provide further details.

“There are certain contacts in this area. But they must be carried out in silence,” Peskov said in an email to The Wall Street Journal. ”Our counterparts know our position well.”

Sullivan said there are continuous efforts to secure the release of both Gershkovich and Whelan and the U.S. government had “not slackened one inch in our zeal to get the two of them out,” he said.

The White House has also called for the release of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty journalist Alsu Kurmasheva, who was taken into custody in October and later charged with failing to register as a foreign agent. She was subsequently also charged with spreading false information about Russia’s military. State Department officials have said Russia has brought baseless charges against Kurmasheva, a dual U.S.-Russian citizen. The U.S. is closely monitoring her detention but hasn’t reached a decision on whether she is being wrongfully detained, a State Department official said.

The Moscow City Court has rejected several appeals by Gershkovich’s lawyers, at least one of which requested that he be transferred to house arrest, agree to constraints on his movements or be granted bail. The reporter’s initial pretrial detention was scheduled to expire on May 29 last year.

Under Russian law, investigators and prosecutors have wide latitude to request further extensions of detention before the case goes to trial. A conviction for espionage can carry a prison sentence of 10 to 20 years. It is rare for a court to acquit a defendant in such cases.
