Description.

With exterior design by Redman Whiteley Dixon (RWD) and built by Icon Yachts , LOON 221 impresses at every level. In impeccable condition, her refit extension in 2014 added 16 feet (5 meters) expanding her aft deck spaces and including the addition of an infinity swimming pool. LOON 221 offers exceptional accommodation for her 12 overnight guests and is ideal for a family charter or a mixed group of friends. The spectacular owner’s suite is spread across two decks and has a private staircase that leads to the upper level study/lounge. The study/lounge can either be closed off as part of the master suite or accessible for all the guests. With full blackout blinds this area is also used as a cinema room. There is direct access both port and starboard sides to the fore-deck. Her VIP stateroom is found on the upper deck forward of the study. The yacht also benefits from a nearby single cabin (perfect for extra staff), while her four further guest staterooms are on the lower deck. One of LOON 221’s best features is her beach club. Opportunities to enjoy this space are maximized with comfortable sun loungers, a bar and seating area, a dedicated gym and a sauna room. The beach club will host hours of fun throughout the day and can even be a tranquil spot on board to take in the beauty of the cruising grounds. Guests can choose from a variety of versatile exterior spaces. LOON 221 offers two al fresco dining areas for 12 guests on her main and upper deck. In 2022, all of LOON 221’s exterior furnishings were replaced and are ready to be enjoyed by her next charter guests. Her minimalist, inviting interior is filled with light throughout. LOON 221 was designed to allow guests to socialize and relax together, as well as maximize the connection to the outdoors. Her dining room opens directly onto the main deck and allows seamless movement between the two areas, with a similar set up on her upper deck. As a result of her experienced captain and crew, LOON 221 benefits from a hugely successful charter program, with an award-winning crew dedicated to delivering a fun, active charter vacation for all guests on board. LOON 221 stands out for her incredible selection of water toys and on board activities – from inflatables to jet skis to SCUBA diving. LOON 221 is built for world cruising in utmost comfort. Her range of 6,000 nautical miles allows for adventures across the globe, while zero-speed stabilizers reduce roll and assure a comfortable journey for all.

LOON offers accommodation for up to 12 guests in 6 staterooms + up to 1 occasional worker in single staff cabin (space in most cabins for an extra cot if needed - see below).

Accommodation; The accommodation on board of MY ICON was designed to offer sleeping for up to 12 guests. The yacht charter guests will have 6 cabins at their disposal, including a Master suite, 3 VIP suites, and 2twin staterooms.. She is also capable of carrying up to 16 superyacht crew on board. On request additional crew such a yoga master, personal trainer or a language teacher can be hired if booked in advance.  The accommodation for crew is separate and accessible through different entrances allowing guests full privacy throughout. Master stateroom While other guests accommodation is on the lower deck, the master suite is vast and spread across two levels as a duplex apartment. There is a direct access to the observation lounge from here with a private salon accessed by stairs from the bedroom also flexible to be used by other guests.  His and hers bathrooms and separate dressing closet also feature.

Mega yacht ICON charter rates: The ICON's super yacht charter prices start from 500,000 Euros plus APA expenses in the Mediterranean and 550,000 US$'s in the Caribbean. In some locations VAT can be charged on top and prices can be higher on special days such as NEW YEAR or during special events. Special offers, negotiated deals and last minute discounts are available on request.  Other yachts that can be recommended in this range are Andreas L, Grace E, Legend, and many others.

Luxury crewed motor yacht ICON is fully air conditioned throughout. This is a non-smoking vessel. ICONS´s experienced super yacht charter crew of up to 17 crew including the captain, have a separate head and shower and companionway. Yacht Charter guests may not be allowed to bring pets on-board.

Super Yacht TENDER: ICON Yachts charter yacht ICON has a number of tenders on board. The largest one is 7.8m custom tender by Long Island with a 315hp inboard engine Luxury Crewed Motor Yacht itineraries: Luxury motor yacht ICON is usually cruising it the most popular yacht charter destinations across the Mediterranean, from St Tropez to Monaco and Portofino, from Porto Cervo to Porto Vecchio in between Sardinia and Corsica or around Island of Capri and Bay of Naples in Italian Amalfi Coast. During the winter she will spend most of her time around the party islands of St Barths, BVI’s and the rest of the East Caribbean. Extended worldwide cruising and any other private yacht charter itinerary can be arranged on request.

Specification: ICON is a (67.5m / 221.5’) luxury motor yacht built in 2010 and refitted by ICON Yachts of Holland during 2014. As a one of a kind world cruiser, she is a benchmark for all yachts of her size, looking fabulous from all angles and providing such features as a Beach Club, a Hammam, Infinity glass-bottomed pool and a gym. Guests on board of MY ICON are offered unique and very special yacht charters for up to 12 guests accommodated in 6 staterooms.

MY ICON will be normally cruising in the West Mediterranean during summer season and in the East Caribbean in the winter months. There are always at least 16 attentive super yacht crew members on board. Thanks to her twin MTU super yacht engines, providing up to 2480hp each, she can cruise at speeds of up to around 13kn. During best sea and wind conditions, maximum speeds of up to 16kn can be reached. Her best features are superb private facilities, great short term yacht charter deals and amazing crew.

Accommodation

ICON Yacht charter boat ICON can accommodate up to 12 guests in a total of 6 cabins, including 4 doubles, and 2 twin cabins with single beds, with two Pullmans and on request additional, 7 th stateroom, which is a convertible cabin. Cabin Configuration: - 1 x Master cabins with king size bed - 1 x VIP stateroom with queen double - 2 x Double staterooms - 2 x Twin cabin with 2 single beds There is also individual controlled air conditioning, wi-fi, and en-suite bathroom in each cabin. ICON is fully air conditioned throughout. Her super yacht crew of up to 17 including the captain have separate crew quarters with heads and showers.

The ICON yacht is a 67-metre (221 ft) luxury yacht built by the Dutch shipyard Icon Yachts (Studio Linse) in 2009 as their first project.

She can welcome up to twelve guests in seven cabins and was last refitted in 2014, during which the vessel was extended by 5 metres.

Her master suite is split across two levels and is unusually spacious for a yacht her size.

A Hammam, sauna, pool, and spa facilities are available on board for the comfort of the guests. Seventeen crew members find space in below-deck accommodation.

The yacht also carries a wide variety of water toys, including two regular and one stand-up jet ski, scuba diving equipment, an inflatable platform, sea bobs, water skis, wakeboards, kayaks, and paddleboards.

The ICON yacht also has three tenders that can take guests to the mainland or on excursions if required.

The interior of ICON is classy and timeless, with minimalist elements and high-quality furnishings.

Natural tones and creme upholstery throughout the vessel make the yacht appear upscale and luxurious.

Specifications

ICON is 67 meters (221 ft) long with an 11.40 meter (37.4 ft) beam and a 3.80 (12.5 ft) meter draft.

She weighs 1295 tons and comfortably cruises at 13 knots which allows her to have a total range of 4,000 nautical miles.

Her maximum speed lies at 15 knots, and she is powered by MTU engines . 

RWD Design Studio worked on the exterior of ICON. They specialize in elegant and comprehensive yacht designs of mid-sized to large yachts.

She has a beautiful black and white exterior with a steel hull and aluminum superstructure.

She features a beach club that opens up onto the swimming platform and a beautiful infinity pool on the aft deck. Her top deck has a jacuzzi and cozy seating areas for guests.

Despite not being one the largest yachts in the world, ICON actually has fantastic deck space with generous areas reserved for sunbathing and relaxing.

Her previous owner paid a reported price of US $50 million for ICON in 2009 and is rumored to have listed the yacht for sale for US $55 million in 2016.

The yacht is available for charter at a weekly rate of US $500,000.

History of Icon Yachts

Icon is a 62.50m motor yacht, custom built in 2009 by Icon Yachts in Harlingen, Netherlands. The yacht's exterior styling is the work of Redman Whiteley Dixon, whilst her modern interior has been designed by Studio Linse.

Superyacht Icon is the first Icon 62 to launch from Icon Yachts. She has a graceful steel hull and aluminium superstructure with a beam of 11.40m and a 3.60m draft. The 68m superyacht LOON (ex LOON 221, ICON, ICON 62) is a custom-built charter yacht, originally launched by the prominent Dutch shipyard Icon Yachts in 2009. LOON 221 yacht's interior styling is done by Redman Whiteley Dixon, with the interior design being a work of the renowned Studio Linse. The decor is timeless, elegant and neutral. A sumptuous salon lounge on the main deck offers plush seating, set in a social atmosphere surrounding a large coffee table and the latest in entertainment; further aft is the formal dining easily accompanying up to 10 guests. She boasts panoramic windows which provide great natural light and stunning views from the salon and dining area. Soft lighting and bespoke finishes create a sophisticated feel, perfect for every occasion. On the main deck forward is the master stateroom, boasting a full beam layout, king-size bed, easy access to the upper observation lounge and study and a large ensuite with a luxurious custom tub. The master cabin benefits from spectacular views, excellent storage and exterior access on both port and starboard, leading to the upper foredeck, featuring seating and sun pads.

Her upper deck comprises a sky lounge, complete with sofas, a beautiful leather ottoman and full entertainment systems. The VIP guest cabin is located on the upper deck forward of the sky lounge to starboard and features a generous shower room. On the lower deck are two double cabins, as well as two twin cabins, all ensuite. ICON has a fabulous beach club thanks to the extension she received; it includes a gym, hammam, sauna, wet bar, lounge, bathroom with shower, dive centre, exterior sunloungers on the teak beach and direct access to the four lower deck cabins.

On deck guests will find there are plenty of areas to relax, entertain and be social, no matter the occasion. Her expansive teak beach and beach club, based on the lower deck, features an extended swim area, sun loungers, lounge, hammam, sauna, wet bar, and shower, it is the ideal area for incredible fun during the day, enjoying the multitude of water toys. On the main deck, aft of the salon is large exterior aft deck, which features an alfresco dining area, sun pads, and large swimming pool. The upper deck has ample outside seating and a further alfresco dining table. Her top deck boasts additional sun pads, seating, and deluxe Jacuzzi tub.

The owner’s suite has a private flight of stairs with direct access to an owner’s salon, which can be kept private or opened up to guests. The architecture of the outside areas of the yacht helps give the exterior its “definitive proportions.” Dramatically staged overhangs with raked superstructure were carefully balanced in profile against the interior volumes, giving the yacht huge amounts of living area for its size. The interior styling features modern furnishing in soft tones for the relaxed and inviting atmosphere.

Thanks to the advanced technology used in the construction of the yacht, she can provide smooth cruising experience in any conditions, while stabilizers reduce roll motion and for ultimate comfort.

Superyacht LOON 221 is the first Icon Yachts vessel ever launched by the shipyard. She boasts a very graceful steel hull built with an aluminium superstructure. Her beam measures 11.40 meters and her draft is of 3.50 meters. She reaches a maximum speed of 16 knots, thanks to her twin MTU engines. A cruising speed is 12 knots with an impressive range of 6,000 nautical miles. The capacity of her fuel tanks is of 160,000 litres.

Clarence Thomas accepted a free yacht trip to Russia and got flown out on a complimentary helicopter ride to Putin's hometown, 2 Democratic senators say

• Democratic senators have accused Justice Clarence Thomas of accepting undisclosed gifts and trips.
• They say he accepted gifts such as a yacht trip to Russia and a chopper ride to Vladimir Putin's hometown.
• The senators want an investigation into potential tax fraud and ties between Thomas and Harlan Crow.

Two Democratic senators have accused Justice Clarence Thomas of accepting a free trip to Russian President Vladimir Putin's hometown.

Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse of Rhode Island and Sen. Ron Wyden of Oregon filed a letter to US Attorney General Merrick Garland on July 3, asking to open an investigation into the Supreme Court judge.

The letter said there was a "serious possibility of tax fraud" and accused Thomas of having "secretly accepted gifts and income potentially worth millions of dollars."

The letter's appendix , which lists 35 undisclosed gifts, shows a "yacht trip to Russia and the Baltics" and a "helicopter ride to Yusupov Palace, St. Petersburg," both listed under the year 2003.

St. Petersburg, Russia, is Putin's birthplace and where he grew up. The president now resides in Moscow.

The appendix list is titled "Likely Undisclosed Gifts and Income from Harlan Crow and Affiliated Companies." Harlan Crow is a real-estate developer and the former chairman and CEO of the Trammell Crow Company.

The senators cited a ProPublica report from May last year detailing Thomas' hushed-up financial ties to Crow.

The report said that apart from the Russia trip, Crow also funded Thomas' grandnephew Mark Martin 's boarding-school fees, which cost "more than $6,000 a month."

In their letter, the senators wrote that other gifts from Crow included "multiple instances of free private jet travel, yacht travel, and lodging," as well as "gifts of tuition for Justice Thomas's grandnephew," "real estate transactions," "home renovations," and "free rent for Justice Thomas's mother."

In September, Thomas said he'd accepted three trips on a private plane owned by Crow . He didn't mention any other gifts.

Whitehouse and Wyden aren't the only Democrats who've voiced concerns over Thomas' sketchy financial ties.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez of New York filed articles of impeachment against Thomas and Justice Samuel Alito on Wednesday.

"Justice Thomas and Alito's repeated failure over decades to disclose that they received millions of dollars in gifts from individuals with business before the court is explicitly against the law," her statement reads.

Representatives for Thomas, Whitehouse, Wyden and Crow didn't immediately respond to requests for comment from Business Insider sent outside regular business hours.
