Bareboat charter sailing vessel "Sensation" is a spacious and well set up Farr 1020 34ft sailing yacht. The boat was designed and built in New Zealand and is set up for cruising comfort and performance. 

Sensation is currently the only boat that we have for bareboat (private - sail yourself) charter in the Bay of Islands, New Zealand so you can expect personal attention when you book your bareboat sailing charter with us. The yacht is under current New Zealand MSA Certification. 

Well suited to two couples or a family (Max 4 Adults) our sail boat has two double and two single berths (one with a high lee cloth).  There is one separate cabin.  Sensation has a well equipped galley with fridge, freezer, oven and complimentary pantry items.  There is a hot water shower off the stern of the yacht.

To charter (hire) our yacht well-rounded sailing experience and familiarity with sailboats and/or satisfactory completion of recognized boating courses is helpful.  Practical knowledge and experience in piloting and anchoring procedures are essential.

The Bay of Islands is without doubt one of the most favored cruising and yacht charter locations within New Zealand . Travelers and locals alike are drawn to the Bay of Island's protected bay for it's mild sub-tropical climate, hundreds of uninhabited islands and pure serenity.

Russell and Opua are the two main yacht charter bases in the Bay of Islands. Radiating out from Russell and Opua are over 86 islands and almost endless protected anchorages over a 45-mile radius. Cape Brett is the northeast and KeriKeri is at the southwest corner of the Bay of Islands. When chartering a yacht in the Bay of Islands expect fertile green hills rolling down to white beaches bordering emerald clear waters.

A yacht charter in the beautiful, Bay of Islands, can be delightful. The Bay of Islands maritime park is comprised of 144 islands, secluded bays, untouched coastline and natural harbors. The cool waters are abundant with sea life including kingfish, marlin, dolphins and seals. You can even rummage for clams, mussels and shellfish for your evening meal. The Bay of Islands is unique and the only way to enjoy them all is on a yacht charter. Offshore, the islands are stunningly beautiful. Onshore, the pretty towns are steeped in New Zealand history.

Urupukapuka, the largest of the islands, forms a natural barrier protecting the inner islands from ocean swells. On the lee side of the island are several bays offering safe, picturesque anchorages. Other main islands, well worth a look at on your yacht charter, are Moturua and Roberton Islands. They boast sandy golden beaches and sheltered anchorages. The northern islands of Cavali are a haven for divers who come for the opportunity to dive the wreck of New Zealand's, "Rainbow Warrior". The northern islands also tend to become inundated with fish species from the tropics, over summer, becoming a haven for fishing enthusiasts.

Enjoy the fjord like shelter of Whangaroa Harbor; a fascinating haven of peaceful anchorages and secluded bays. Sail south of the Bay of Islands past the famous "Hole in the Rock".

Once we have cleared the harbour, we hoist the sails and enter the scenic Bay of Islands. Relax and take in the sights with a complimentary tea or coffee as we cruise past some of the 144 islands that make up the Bay of Islands. If you are lucky we may see dolphins, whales, penguins or even seals on our voyage. Your experienced and knowledgeable skipper will select a bay that is sheltered from the prevailing weather conditions and drop anchor, allowing for some exploration of the island and fun in the water. Do as much or as little as you want. Relax onboard or if you are feeling adventurous, you may want to walk to the nearest viewpoint, or we have snorkelling gear, beach games and paddleboards available for your use.

This sailboat is designed for the whole family to enjoy a memorable experience!! Captain Jonathan was wonderful with kids and allowed us to steer the boat. It's incredibly family friendly with a couple rooms, seating area, small kitchen area and bathroom below deck. They even have a cute stuffed monkey as a cute mascot for the kids! My friend, Bonnie and I both brought our 2 boys with us. What a fun adventure!! We enjoyed the beautiful San Diego views and got to see Sea Lions. Captain Jonathan was extremely accommodating and checked with us in regard to preferences. The kids and I enjoyed the selection of snacks and drinks available. Loved the coconut water and Improv Mocktail drinks! What to you need to know: Captain Jonathan included Max 6 people (price varies) Kids under 12 must wear a life jacket Snacks, water, non-alcoholic drinks included (alcoholic beverages allowed) 2.5 sailboat ride It was very easy to book and received confirmation emails leading up to the sailing. Thank You Sea Money Adventures for giving my boys and I such a fantastic and relaxing experience. This a great alternative to lots of other activities to do in San Diego. Ultra family friendly and very Autism Family FRIENDLY! So thankful! It's really tough in general to think of activities that are different, fun and memorable for our family. I loved how welcoming and patient Captain Jonathan was with my boys. He let the boys steer the yacht, let them playfully be themselves on the yacht. There are so many nooks, cabinets, 2 large beds that were playing pretend house while eating snacks. There were so many giggles and smiles that made me feel really happy. There was just enough space to have fun and let the kids be safe. By their rules. All kids must wear a life jacket and I love that rule. There is a max of 6 people plus captain. No alcohol but it's okay that we don't. We saw the San Diego Skyline, the coast and sea lions. I have a magical coupon code I can share with you! Just msg me via yelp or compliment me.

Sailing with Sea Monkey Adventures was a wonderful experience that made for a special and memorable day. Captain Jonathan is kind and truly a natural with kids. From the moment he introduced himself, he was leaning into my kids' curiosity: pointing out sea creatures, showing us landmarks, and sharing fun facts. He also happily let the kids steer the boat as much as they wanted. It felt like we were out on the water with a close family friend. The boat set up is incredibly family-friendly. Below deck has seating with a table, a bed, snacks/drinks, a restroom, and even a sink/counter that would be convenient for a nursing mother, if needed. The boat has a mascot it that is...you guessed it...a cute stuffed monkey! Our kids adored him. We were lucky to see dolphins on our tour! We cruised nice and close to sea lions and learned about landmarks and things to do in the area along our route. A Sea Monkey Adventures tour is a perfect way to spend a few hours of family time together. You'll something new, relax, and have fun together!

Local News | Salvage efforts for LoveBug, 103-foot capsized yacht in Anne Arundel water, set to begin Tuesday

Donjon Marine Co., the New Jersey-based firm that worked to recover the debris from the collapsed Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore , has been contracted to salvage the LoveBug and deliver it to underwriters and its owner.

The Farrell 256, a 200-foot crane barge with a 120-foot boom, and the Meagan Ann, a coastal towing tug, began the roughly 40-hour journey down to the Chesapeake Bay on Sunday morning. The vessels are expected to arrive in Anne Arundel waters Tuesday morning, said Steven Newes, senior vice president of Donjon.

A second crane barge, the 250-foot Columbia NY, will arrive later, he said. The crane has a 140-foot boom, according to Donjon.

The Farrell 256 will be used to rig the LoveBug with slings, Newes said. Then, the Columbia NY will roll and lift it to an upright position. Water inside the yacht will need to be pumped out, as well.

How long the salvage will take and where the yacht will go once it’s recovered are unclear.

The Italian-built yacht was sailing south on the Chesapeake Bay from Annapolis on July 27 when it began to tip over. The Coast Guard received a mayday call at 12:36 p.m., but by the time crews arrived, the five people onboard had been rescued by a good Samaritan and a nearby towboat. Paramedics tended to two of the passengers, according to the Anne Arundel County Fire Department, but both declined to be treated.

In the weeks since the Lovebug capsized, the yacht has remained in the water in the same location between Beverly Beach and Shady Side. Though the yacht was originally resting on its starboard, or right, side, it has rolled some, Newes said.

The LoveBug is grounded in roughly 10 to 12 feet of water, said Hunter Dortenzo, a Maryland Natural Resources Police spokesperson. However, the salvage vessels are shallow enough to work in the area, Newes said.

The yacht, which cost between $110,000 and $125,000 to charter for a week, was not operating as a charter when it overturned, Dortenzo said.

The LoveBug is owned by Bees Honey LLC, a limited liability company based in the Marshall Islands, according to VesselFinder, a marine traffic site. The owner’s identity remains unclear.

The Natural Resources Police and the National Transportation Safety Board are conducting separate investigations.

Though Dortenzo was not able to speak about the Maryland agency’s investigation, he said investigators will not be able to survey the yacht or determine what caused it to capsize until it’s lifted from the water.

In the days after the capsize, a slight oil sheen was visible on the water surrounding the LoveBug. Two oil booms were placed around the yacht. No additional pollution has been reported since then, Coast Guard Petty Officer 3rd Class Christopher Bokum said Friday.
