What is the MSC Yacht Club? Take a look at MSC Cruises’ luxury suite area

Ashley Kosciolek

MSC Cruises sails nearly two dozen beautiful ships from home ports around the world, but their inviting sun decks can be crowded, and you're likely to encounter queues for dinner, shows and guest services.

The trick to creating a more luxurious experience on this big-ship cruise line is to book a stay in the line's Yacht Club. This upscale enclave within MSC Cruises ' larger ships offers guests more spacious accommodations, butler service and dedicated restaurants and lounges — even coffee delivered to your room each morning, just the way you like it.

Because of the Yacht Club , MSC can offer an inviting experience for cruisers who like big-ship cruising but crave more elevated accommodations, dining and amenities. MSC Cruises was one of the first lines to introduce this ship-within-a-ship concept, along with Norwegian Cruise Line . Now other popular cruise lines, such as Royal Caribbean , also have adopted it.

The Yacht Club section on several of MSC Cruises' ships offers gated access to semi-private dining, butler service and more, but it comes at a price. Find out how much you can expect to pay and what you'll get for your money.

In addition, passengers booked in the Yacht Club have access to their own dedicated bar, lounge and restaurant, as well as a semi-private outdoor bar, pool and hot tubs, all on an exclusive sun deck. When ships dock at the line's private island, Ocean Cay Marine Reserve , Yacht Club passengers have private beach and restaurant access .

In their cabins, Yacht Club cruisers will find a pillow menu, memory foam mattresses, high-quality linens, bathrooms with marble floors, a specialty coffee maker, complimentary open minibar access, one gratis bottle of spirits (choose from a list of available options), free one-time snacks, 24-hour room service and nightly turn-down chocolates from Venchi, an Italian chocolatier that partners with the cruise line.

Which MSC cruise ships have the Yacht Club?

msc yacht club booking

Thirteen ships in the MSC Cruises fleet have the Yacht Club on board:

  • MSC Bellissima
  • MSC Euribia
  • MSC Fantasia
  • MSC Grandiosa
  • MSC Meraviglia
  • MSC Preziosa
  • MSC Seascape.
  • MSC Seashore.
  • MSC Seaside
  • MSC Seaview
  • MSC Splendida
  • MSC Virtuosa
  • MSC World Europa

Upcoming vessel MSC World America (2025) also will have the Yacht Club.

The largest Yacht Club in the fleet is on MSC World Europa, offering 152 suites. The second-largest is found on the line's two Seaside EVO Class ships, MSC Seashore and MSC Seascape, which each have 131 suites.

MSC Yacht Club cabins

msc yacht club booking

All accommodations in the Yacht Club are labeled as suites, even though they comprise some standard cabin types. The specific stateroom types offered will vary by ship, but in general, they range from windowless interior cabins and deluxe balcony rooms to Executive and Royal Suites with more space, walk-in closets and bathrooms with both showers and bathtubs.

msc yacht club booking

New to the fleet with the line's World Class are 1,600-square-foot Owner Suites, which include multi-room layouts, walk-in closets, bathtubs and balconies, each with a whirlpool and alfresco dining area.

Also new are Duplex Suites, offering two decks of space, with the bedroom and bathroom upstairs and a dining area, living room and guest bath downstairs. These also include two private sun decks with loungers, one of which boasts a whirlpool.

How much does it cost to stay in the MSC Yacht Club?

msc yacht club booking

As you might expect, the cost to stay in the Yacht Club depends on several factors, including cabin type, the length of the sailing and where you're going and when. However, in line with the rest of the brand's pricing, a stay in the Yacht Club is an excellent value when you compare it to stays in other lines' dedicated suite areas or to luxury cruise prices.

I priced out several sailings departing over the next two years on some of the line's newest and largest ships. This is what was available at press time. (Note: MSC Cruises' website will only allow me to choose a general Yacht Club designation when booking. That means a guaranteed suite within the Yacht Club, but you won't know what type it is until closer to sailing.)

  • 7-night Caribbean and Bahamas cruise on MSC Seascape: $6,538 (including taxes) for two adults, round trip from Miami, March 16-23, 2024
  • 11-night Bermuda, Canada and New England cruise on MSC Meraviglia: $9,958 (including taxes) for two adults, round trip from Brooklyn, New York, Sept. 25-Oct. 6, 2024
  • 7-night Mediterranean cruise on MSC World Europa: $5,118 (including taxes) for two adults, round trip from Barcelona, May 2-9, 2025
  • 7-night Mediterranean on MSC Divina: $5,858 (including taxes) for two adults, round trip from Kusadasi, Turkey, June 5-12, 2025

MSC Seashore

I tried a ship-within-a-ship cruise experience and it was worth it for the endless perks—here’s why

The MSC Yacht Club affords travelers a totally different cruising experience, but you’ll have to splurge.

Erica Lamberg

I heard tales of luxury from people about the ritzy MSC Yacht Club , the ship-within-a-ship concept where discerning passengers enjoy their own area of the cruise ship that includes a dedicated restaurant, private lounge, separate pool and sundeck as well as private butlers and concierges to take of any whim while cruising. The elevated Yacht Club boasts priority everything while sailing MSC.

I sailed on a four-night cruise on the new MSC Seashore, a glitzy ship with Italian flair intermingled with references to New York City at every turn. Although the ship was well-appointed and had amazing dining, drinking and entertainment venues, and a bountiful Top Sail main buffet, thousands of passengers made the ship feel crowded at times, elevators were slow, and as I strolled through the general pools, they were boisterous and crowded.

RECOMMENDED: 10 things about cruising on an adults-only ship that might surprise you

Switch gears to MSC Seashore’s Yacht Club, passkey-protected for lucky guests, and is a 180 from the ship’s general spaces. Once you scan your handy Yacht Club wrist badge, or your room key, you’re instantly given entrance to a breathtaking retreat of 131 staterooms and suites. All this luxury does come at a price. Cruise fares will vary based on destination, time of year, and cabin category, but generally speaking you can expect to pay double for the Yacht Club. And from my experience, it’s worth it. Read more about why you should splurge.

You’re fast-tracked through everything

The Yacht Club’s exclusivity and impeccable service standard started from the moment I got dropped off at the Port Canaveral cruise terminal. There were hundreds of people waiting to board at 1pm on embarkation day. I saw in the distance a canopy that said MSC Yacht Club. My husband and I wheeled our carry-on luggage to the representative under the canopy. I gave her my name and within two seconds, she gave me a sticker to wear and up we ascended on the escalator to check in. Just five minutes later, I was directed to the dedicated check-in area for Yacht Club guests. To my right, I saw about 1,000 people serpentine through ropes to do general check-in. I felt a sense of relief; who wants to wait in that line? Five minutes later, a butler from the Yacht Club insisted on wheeling my luggage to board the ship and I was in my room in a total on 12 minutes from the time I stepped foot out of the car to my stateroom in the Yacht Club.

Relaxing and streamlined

In addition, Yacht Club guests have the freedom to get off the ship first for excursions. Your butler will happily escort you off the ship with a smile. Guests also can disembark on the last morning first, which is a big convenience. Your butler walks you right to the place you disembark, bypassing crowds and hassles. Port Canaveral is about an hour away from Orlando International Airport, and we took a 10 am flight home. We didn’t have to linger around until the afternoon for our flight home.

Another perk is that there’s a special seating area in the theater for shows. All the shows were excellent during my voyage. All other ship passengers have to make reservations in advance for shows but that’s not the case for the privileged Yacht Club passengers. As long as you arrive about 10 minutes before any show you choose, a crew member from the Club will allow you entry into a special roped-off section. Again, no rushing through dinner—you have the flexibility to plan your evenings your way.

MSC Seashore

Your Yacht Club package is packed with remarkable value

The price tag may sound daunting, but there’s lots of value there. All Yacht Club cabins and suites include a premium drink package that covers beverages up to $15. You can use this perk both in the Yacht Club and throughout the ship. In addition, your package includes a two-device Wi-Fi package, which worked well during my sailing. Finally, you get access to the thermal spa suite, which is a place to indulge after a day in port or a sea day. Commonly, there’s a taboo regarding mini-bars, but not in the Yacht Club. It’s stocked each day with the beverages you want; just tell your butler and consider it done.

You get perks ashore too

If your sailing includes a call to Ocean Cay, MSC’s private island, Yacht Club guests get an elevated experience there too. Yacht Club guests enjoy a private area, and a dedicated restaurant called the Ocean House. While other ship guests were hosted to a buffet of predictable fare, I enjoyed a lobster roll, and my husband chose carne asada. In my opinion, one thing that could be improved was the tram service to the Yacht Club’s private area. We were told the last tram back was 3:30pm if we didn’t want to trek a 15-minute walk in the heat. Since we were docked in Ocean Cay for the evening and weren’t sailing, I was a bit dismayed by this logistical quirk. I felt like I was keeping an eye on my phone to make sure I didn’t miss the last tram.

You have private areas with curated food and drink and outdoor spaces

Within the Yacht Club complex, there’s the Yacht Club Restaurant, Top Sail Lounge and the One Pool Buffet, which are all exclusive to Yacht Club guests. Obviously, the food and service are steps above other dining venues of the ship, I can vouch for that. Although the food is delicious, if you don’t want to pay extra to dine at the specialty restaurants or fuss in the main buffet, eating three meals a day in the Yacht Club restaurant can get a bit monotonous. The breakfast is the same daily, and lunch and dinner offer a menu with daily specials plus a few standby selections like a hamburger or pasta each day. Although the Yacht Club Restaurant concept is desirable, I would strongly suggest dining in other venues on board, especially for dinner. I thoroughly enjoyed specialty dining in Ocean Cay Restaurant, Butcher’s Cut, and Kaito Teppanyaki. I also want to mention that late afternoon high tea is offered daily at the Yacht Club Restaurant. It was one of the nicest I have experienced at sea.

MSC Seashore

Also available exclusively to Yacht Club passengers is the Top Sail Lounge, which offers panoramic water views and has chef-curated selections from morning through late night. We enjoyed popping into the lounge at all hours to try finger foods and sweets. The One Pool Buffet offers a more casual option for breakfast and lunch by the pool. The buffet has grilled fish, sandwiches and lots of delicious options if you want to dine outside.

There’s also an exclusive area with a private pool and two whirlpools for Yacht Club guests only. The sun deck loungers are very comfortable and I never had to worry about finding a lounger, there are ample. One issue I had was that there was almost no shade on the sun deck; there were shaded day beds for Royal Suite and Owners Suite guests, but beyond those, I couldn’t find any shade, which was disappointing.

You can justify the price at the end of your cruise

Overall, the best way to explain my enthusiasm for my MSC Yacht Club experience is this: it’s better to book an interior stateroom in the Yacht Club than a luxe cabin outside the Yacht Club. It’s worth the splurge and you return home feeling truly pampered and it’s money well-spent. And I make this prediction: Once you try a ship-within-a-ship concept like the MSC Yacht Club, you won’t want cruise any other way. Bon Voyage!

Calendar of florida boat shows, you don’t have to be a boater to dream like one. check out this round-up of the biggest and best florida boat shows.  .

By Lauren Tjaden

January | February | March | April | June | September | October | November | December

With more registered boats than any other state, endless places to boat and year-round good weather, Florida holds bragging rights as the pleasure boating capital of the World. So, it makes perfect sense that the Sunshine State has the most and best boat shows in the nation. Read on to discover what’s happening in your neck of the sandbar as well as tips to help you get the most out of your boat show experience.

Boat Show Tips

Looking for a boat can be a real challenge, with so many makes and models to choose from. A boat show can make your search easier by putting all of your choices in one location.

If you’re not in the market you can still enjoy these events. Most shows offer accessories as well as temptations like cedar deck chairs or island-style jewelry, as well as delectable food, educational seminars, and even live entertainment. Some of the larger shows, like Fort Lauderdale and Miami , are almost impossible to see in one day, so you may want to allow two or three days to explore them. It helps to get a map and a brochure when you buy your tickets, and then take a few minutes to see what’s on display before you set out walking. This will maximize your time and make your boat show experience more enjoyable.

THE CHARLOTTE COUNTY BOAT SHOW  — The Charlotte County Fairgrounds is home to this four-day event, which boasts the largest exhibition of boats and marine products in the county.

STUART BOAT SHOW AT THE WATERWAY  — Discover hundreds of boats in-water and on land at the three-day Stuart Boat Show, the largest boat show on Florida’s Treasure Coast. Seminars, nautical accessories, music, food and drink round out the attractions.

NAPLES BOAT SHOW  — The four-day Naples Boat Show floats into the Naples-Marco Island area with displays on land at the Naples Airport and in-water at the Naples City Dock, and a complimentary shuttle to get you around.

JACKSONVILLE BOAT SHOW  — The Jacksonville Marine Association invites your gang to join them for three days packed with boat displays, kids’ activities and seminars.

ST. PETERSBURG POWER AND SAILBOAT SHOW  — With bragging rights as the largest power and sailboat show on the Gulf Coast, this four-day affair is enhanced with events like kids fishing clinics and sailing seminars.

PALM BEACH INTERNATIONAL BOAT SHOW  — With boats, yachts, accessories, seminars, demonstrations, elevated culinary experiences and more, if you’re a marine enthusiast, this four-day show is the place to be. SUNNYLAND ANTIQUE BOAT FESTIVAL  — This long-running, three-day annual festival splashes into Lake Dora in Tavares, made even more lively with events like a captain’s party, seaplane rides, live music, beer garden and a flea market.

SUNCOAST BOAT SHOW  — Touted as the Gulf Coast's premier boat show, this three-day extravaganza is held at Marina Jack in Downtown Sarasota. What not to miss at this year’s Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show

On 25-29 October 2023, some of the biggest names in the industry are set to gather for five days in Florida to showcase their latest masterpieces as part of the 64th Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS) . This year, more than 100,000 attendees and 1,000 boats will contribute to the show’s status as the largest in-water boat show in the world.

If you're heading to the show this year to get in on the action, here are just some of the key sections of the show to look out for.

Seven locations

Owned by the Marine Industries Association of South Florida (MIASF) and produced by Informa Markets, the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show showcases more world and U.S. debuts than any other boat show in the country. To accommodate its sheer size, the show site spans 3,000,000 square feet across seven sites that are all conveniently connected by waterways and ground transportation services.

Visitors are encouraged to purchase a two-day pass to allow themselves time to explore all seven show locations. The Broward County Convention Center will return as the event’s Transportation Hub, providing ample parking spaces and linking guests to the show’s shuttle and water taxi services that connect the seven show sites.

The Broward County Convention Center is where visitors will find the very best in boats, fishing gear and a live-action exhibition. Las Olas Marina, Hall of Fame Marina, Pier 66 Marina, Hilton Fort Lauderdale Marina and Bahia Mar Yachting Center make up the rest of the site with products ranging from sunglasses to superyachts and everything in between.

The superyachts

The largest of the show’s fleet will be located at the SuperYacht Village at Pier 66 South, where visitors can marvel at some of the latest superyachts on the market and enjoy an enhanced VIP experience.

VIP services

FLIBS offers VIP ticket holders a tailor-made experience known as the Windward VIP Experience. With premium access to the show, VIP guests can enjoy a premium open bar, indulgent gourmet food and the luxury of private restrooms at the Windward VIP Club. What's more, you'll have the privilege of entering the show an hour before the general public through the Bahia Mar south entrance, ensuring you get first dibs on the latest maritime marvels. To make your visit even more convenient, take advantage of complimentary shuttle and water taxi services that whisk you to and from all seven show locations.

For an extra dose of extravagance, consider bundling your ticket with the Fort Lauderdale Concours package, granting you access to a VIP Classic Cars evening event at the Superyacht Village at Pier Sixty-Six South, complete with live entertainment, handcrafted drinks and delectable hors d'oeuvres. It's the epitome of VIP treatment at one of the world's premier boat shows.

Industry insights

The Broward County Convention Center will once again offer a range of interactive workshops and seminars conducted by industry professionals. With experts from various sectors, such as boating, conservation and fishing, attendees can gain valuable insights into the wider marine industry.

The 2023 edition will feature insights on advancements in marine technology that are reshaping the yachting industry, including the latest in navigation systems, propulsion technology and digital innovations, revealing the future of boating.

“FLIBS 2023 invites attendees to immerse themselves in a sensory voyage, where cutting-edge design, state-of-the-art technology and sustainable initiatives converge to redefine the future of boating,” says Andrew Doole, president of U.S. Boat Shows with Informa Markets. “With a legacy spanning over six decades, FLIBS continues to set new standards for excellence, becoming an unrivalled platform for marine enthusiasts, industry professionals and luxury aficionados.”

The Discover Boating Miami International Boat Show returns to Greater Miami & Miami Beach February 12-16, 2025 bringing with it over 1,000 exhibitors, boats and activations. It’ll span six locations across Miami and Miami Beach, making it the world’s largest boat show with an estimated $1.3 billion in economic impact. The Boat Show has also joined forces with SuperYacht Miami to bring the biggest and most luxurious yachts in the world to Watson Island for a special VIP showcase. Whether you’re in the market for a boat or just want to see the latest toys on the water, the Discover Boating Miami International Boat Show has something for you to enjoy, and there’s easy transportation between all six venues.

Read on for details on the 2024 event

How to best experience the boat show.

How you experience the boat show depends entirely on what you want to see and do. If you’re looking to peruse boats under 49 feet, the Miami Beach Convention Center in South Beach is your spot. The newly renovated convention center will be filled with boats, engines, accessories, electronics and boat-related retail. So whether you’re shopping for a boat or just a new Bimini top for your center console, you can find it here.

Across the causeway at Herald Plaza in Downtown Miami , you’ll find thundering powerboats alongside modest yachts in the 30-125-foot range. There will also be engine manufacturers and retail specific to the boats on display.

If you’re looking to get out on the water, head to the Venetian Marina near Downtown. You’ll find 150 vessels ready for test-drives and a bevy of brokerage boats, too.

Those who prefer wind-powered vessels should make their way to the Museum Park Marina in Downtown Miami, where the latest in sailboats, catamarans and sailing accessories will be in the water.

If you’re in town to shop for a mega yacht, make plans to visit SuperYacht Miami at Yacht Haven Grande Miami . The largest and most impressive boats on the high seas will sit sparkling in the sun at The Deck at Island Gardens, beckoning the world’s elite to see what over-the-top advances shipbuilders have developed. Access to this event is only available to Windward VIP or SuperYacht ticket holders.

What to Do at the Boat Show

The boat show isn’t just for people looking to buy boats. Nor is it for people who just want to look at boats. Across the street from the convention center in Pride Park , you’ll find the Progressive Boat Show Experience , a venerable carnival of boating fun filled with food, seminars and even some tips on how to fix your boat. The Experience’s centerpiece is the Nautical Ventures AquaZone, a 40,000-gallon freshwater pool in which you’ll find watercraft demos and product testing. Try out the latest in nautical technology.

On Thursday and Friday nights, SFC Live! will stream live from the Progressive stage, as Peter Miller and Robbie Floyd discuss the world of professional sport fishing and what to expect in the upcoming season. Throughout the weekend, you can also enjoy fishing seminars by the experts at CHAOS Fishing. And those looking to educate their kids about the wonderful world of angling can enroll them in Hook the Future’s Kids Fishing Clinics with Captain Don Dingman, who’ll teach them about different species of fish and fishing techniques.

If you have a boat that’s giving you trouble and need some tips on fixing it, there’s the Fred’s Shed Interactive Learning Center. Mechanics and other boating pros will be on hand to offer free seminars and advice on everything from daily operations to maintenance.

Planning Your Visit

Tickets to the boat show.

The only way into the boat show will be with digital tickets ; you won’t find a box office on-site. Tickets will get you into every venue except SuperYacht. SuperYacht tickets are sold separately, though those with Windward VIP tickets can also access SuperYacht.

Windward VIP tickets also include access to designated lounges at Herald Plaza and the Miami Beach Convention Center as well as a premium open bar and golf cart transportation to the lounges. VIP ticket holders will also receive free shuttle and water taxi transportation between venues and have their own private restrooms.

Getting to the Boat Show

The Boat Show has partnered with SpotHero , a service that helps reserve parking spaces via lots, garages and valet services. You can check for spaces on the app , although those going to the Convention Center will be best served to park at the 17th Street garage a block south. Other venues may have surface lots nearby, but rideshares and public transportation may be easier.

Going between venues is pretty simple, as ticket holders can take free boat show shuttles or golf carts. Shuttles will run in five different loops connecting the venues, and electric golf carts will run between Maurice Gibb Park and the Convention Center and also Herald Plaza and the Venetian Marina.

This year’s show will also offer a water taxi running between all six locations. Tickets are available for $15 per day (they’re included with Windward VIP tickets).

Those coming via Brightline from points north can take a free shuttle from MiamiCentral Station . It’ll stop at several boat show venues.

Where It’s Happening

The show’s home base will be the Miami Beach Convention Center at 1901 Convention Center Drive in Miami Beach .

The Boat Show Experience will be held in Pride Park, adjacent to the Miami Beach Convention Center.

One Herald Plaza is in Downtown Miami, between Bayshore Drive and the Venetian Causeway on Northeast 15th Street. The nearest Metromover stop is the Adrienne Arsht Center station.

The Venetian Marina is also in Downtown Miami, at 1635 N. Bayshore Drive. The nearest Metromover stop is the Adrienne Arsht Center station.

Museum Park Marina is at 801 Biscayne Blvd. in Downtown Miami, between the Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science and Kaseya Center . The nearest Metromover stop is the Park West station.

Yacht Haven Grande Miami at Island Gardens is on Watson Island, 838 MacArthur Causeway, between South Beach and Downtown Miami.

Fort Lauderdale, FL, USA

26 - 30 Oct 2022

By Katie Scott

The 'yachting capital of the world' comes to life once again as the prestigious Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show opens its doors for the 63rd edition.

Scheduled to showcase more than $4 billion worth of yachts and nautical merchandise, the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show , or FLIBS for short, prepares to open once again at the end of October as an ideal opportunity to view and buy some of the latest innovative products in yachting.

Now on its 63rd edition, the esteemed show is no longer just about viewing yachts, but bringing a community together and engaging in a high-flying social scene throughout the five-day event.

What to expect at FLIBS 2022

Glimpse of some exhibitors at FLIBS, yachts moored on either side of floating dock with hundreds of visitors walking in between.

Spread over seven locations around Fort Lauderdale, a seamless transport network escorts visitors through all of the available exhibits which display an extensive selection of yachts including flybridges, sailing boats, superyachts, tenders, water toys and naturally luxury charter yachts .

Annually attracting around 100,000 visitors Fort Lauderdale is the biggest on-water boat show in the world and it certainly delivers to that caliber.

With over six miles of floating docks and around 1,200 exhibitors due to attend, there's plenty to see and do throughout the event plus ongoing entertainment around the seven locations such as live music, cocktail parties and live demonstrations.

VIP lifestyle

Landscape view of female charter guest onboard yacht at FLIBS, other yachts moored in background.

Being a VIP at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show certainly has its perks, especially with the Windward VIP Experience in tow.

Including access to an exclusive lounge with an open bar serving perfectly chilled champagne, the Windward VIP has been an immensely popular attraction since its inception and continues to grow each year thanks to its enticing list of benefits.

Enjoying unrivaled views of the show, VIPs have an ideal place to finalize deals and make new connections before heading towards the yachts for an afternoon of cocktails in the sun.

For visitors wanting to see nothing but the best in show class of yachts, the Superyacht Village at Pier 66 is the place to be with some of the most impressive, and biggest, yachts on display at the show.

Chartering Florida and FLIBS

Overview of Fort Lauderdale coastline, towering hotels overlook busy road, sandy beach and sea to starboard.

By far one of the most popular destinations to charter in the US, Florida not only provides an abundance of 24-hour entertainment and sightseeing, but a buzzing social scene and perfect weather for making the most of the summer sun.

Hiring a Florida yacht charter is ideal for families and corporate gatherings alike due to the close proximity to the Bahamas and of course the inclusion of other popular American destinations like Miami and Key West.

To find out more about how you can incorporate a visit to FLIBS with your next Florida yacht charter, contact your preferred yacht charter broker for more details.

FLIBS

FLIBS 2022 WAS A FIVE-DAY SMASHING SUCCESS

Flibs 2022 attracted over 100,000 visitors, featured over 1,200 show stopping vessels, and elevated south florida’s boating and marine industry with brisk sales.

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL (November 17, 2022) – The 63rd Annual Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS) was a five-day smashing success, as it welcomed back the international boating community into Florida's warm waters. The show welcomed back a global community of guests, with the lifting of all travel restrictions, bringing a boon to South Florida’s local marine and hospitality industry.

“The 63rd annual boat show was a fantastic way to kickstart our boat show season in South Florida,” said Andrew Doole, President of U.S. boat shows at Informa Markets . “Our incredible event marked the homecoming of the international marine community, allowing us to showcase the best our industry has to offer to our global audience. I want to extend my gratitude to the City of Fort Lauderdale and Broward County for their support of the show, as well as to our incredible partners at the Marine Industry Association of South Florida and the Informa staff. We look forward to another great event in 2023.”

This year, guests were treated to the triumphant return of leading marine manufacturers and shipyards from Europe, after a hiatus from the North American Boat Show circuit due to travel restrictions.  Illustrating the latest models being developed by the world’s leading mega yacht developers, the lauded Best of Show recognition was awarded to Italy’s Overmarine Group’s Mangusta Oceano 50 . The Oceano 50 debuted at FLIBS and wowed judges with its performance, design, technology, and sleek build. The elite panel of judges included Major League Baseball Hall of Fame inductee, Ivan “Pudge” Rodriguez; former professional motocross and stock car driver, Ricky Carmichael; yacht captain and Bravo’s Below Deck star, Captain Sandy Yawn; champion race car driver, Kyle Kirkwood; West Marine Chief Commercial Officer, Stacey Renfro; and West Marine Vice President of Brand Marketing, Josh Horoshok. The FLIBS Best of Show awards presentation will be featured via a one-hour special on FOX Sports (FS1 and FS2).

FLIBS 2022

“The Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show has long been a critical component to the city’s economy,” said Mayor Dean Trantalis, Mayor of the City of Fort Lauderdale . “Each year, FLIBS attracts people and businesses from around the world, bringing in an unprecedented economic impact and showcasing Fort Lauderdale to an international audience as an exciting, vibrant, and growing community.”

Following two years of astronomical growth throughout the industry, FLIBS hosted record-breaking performances with record sales and gains across the board for key exhibitors, serving as a barometer for brands to gauge dealer sentiment, consumer interest, and product trends.

“FLIBS continues to set the bar high for our industry, and we are thrilled to see visitors and exhibitors return every year with the same excitement we share for our boating and marine sector,” said Phil Purcell, President and CEO of the Marine Industries Association of South Florida . “We would like to express our thanks to the Broward County Convention Center, Visit Lauderdale, and all of our other local community partners for working alongside FLIBS and producing an unforgettable event.”

A star attraction, the Broward County Convention Center hosted gravity-defying presentations at the Aquazone by Nautical Ventures , interactive experiences at the Kid’s Corner, and debuts from the world’s leading boat manufacturers such as Axopar Boats , Northstar Boats , MJM Yachts , LEKKER Boats , Islamorada Boatworks , Schaefer Yachts , and Invincible Boats . Serving as the show’s transportation hub, the Convention Center provided access to affordable parking, offering a seamless transfer to complimentary air-conditioned shuttles and ticketed Water Taxis. This was a standout element of the show, which granted a smooth experience when navigating between all show locations, including the Bahia Mar Yachting Center and SuperYacht Village at Pier 66.

Luxury components displayed the opulence available across the industry, offering guests of the Windward VIP Club a one-of-a-kind experience centered around five-star gourmet culinary offerings and a premium bar with mixed drinks curated by the masterminds behind Ketel One Botanical , Tanqueray , and Crown Royal . Rounding up the luxury component, organizers partnered with the automobile giant, Audi , to feature their latest electric “e-tron” cars at the show. This new lineup of eco-friendly vehicles produces zero direct CO₂ emissions whilst driving and rely exclusively on green electricity to charge.

“We could not have done this year’s show without the instrumental support from our sponsors. Whether providing extraordinary cocktails for the Windward VIP lounge, showcasing the latest in automobile innovation, to keeping our guests safe and secure with the show’s official fire extinguisher sponsor, Fire Ranger , these partnerships are a vital component of producing the world’s largest in-water Boat Show,” continued Andrew Doole.

FLIBS 2022

MIAMI – Surveillance video allegedly shows Carlos Guillermo Alonso with his 42-foot Boston Whaler in Coral Gables after he unintentionally struck and killed Ella Riley Adler on May 11 off Key Biscayne, according to News 6 partner Local 10 News .

According to Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission Officer George Reynaud, Ella was in the water after falling off a wakeboard waiting to get back on a 42-foot Hanse Fjord.

Alonso’s attorneys claim the 78-year-old experienced boater was passing by and did not realize he had struck and killed the 15-year-old Ransom Everglades student.

Ella’s funeral was on Monday at Temple Beth Sholom in Miami Beach. FWC investigators found Alonso’s boat and seized it on Tuesday, as the investigation continued.

The FWC released a report  on Wednesday  identifying Alonso, who was cooperating with the ongoing investigation. It’s unclear if Alonso will be facing any charges.

Ella, a Miami City Ballet ballerina, is survived by her parents, Amanda and Matthew Adler, and her paternal grandfather Michael Adler, the U.S. Ambassador to Belgium.

This was an unthinkable tragedy and our hearts break for Ella and her family. We hope this video helps to shut down some of the awful and unfounded rumors going around about Bill, who is absolutely devastated. As the video shows, Bill was alone. He was not drinking. And he had no clue that he may have hit someone – he parked the boat at his home, he was calm, he didn’t clean the boat, and he did not try to hide anything. Bill will continue to cooperate with law enforcement in every possible way. Attorney Lauren Krasnoff

‘Pretty dangerous’: Yacht captain lends insights on area where teen killed in boat crash

He also says boat towing ella adler, 15, is ‘not ideal’ for wakeboarding.

Christina Vazquez , Reporter

Chris Gothner , Digital Journalist

KEY BISCAYNE, Fla. – A Key Biscayne yacht captain is sharing insight into the area where 15-year-old Ella Adler lost her life over the weekend.

A Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission report said she was wakeboarding with someone else when she fell into the water near the Nixon Beach Sandbar and was struck and killed by the passing boater, who never stopped to help.

“She had the wakeboard on, she had fallen off from being towed, and she was just in the water waiting to be recovered by her vessel,” FWC Officer George Reynaud told “Good Morning America” Wednesday. “She was in the water, with her life jacket on, with her wakeboard attached at the time of the impact.”

Reynaud said, “Nixon Beach does have a sandbar where boats go to congregate, however, they were outside of that area.”

The report, released Wednesday, identified the operator as Carlos Guillermo Alonso, 78, of Coral Gables.

Yacht captain Griffen Diaz spoke to Local 10 News on Wednesday. He said he was anchored at Nixon Beach, about a mile north of the crash, when it happened at around 4 p.m. Saturday.

“My heart goes out to this girl’s family and everyone who was involved,” Diaz said. “I have been really heartbroken about this story.”

Diaz said the water was choppy that day.

“The wind and the waves were coming out of the west which is very unusual for Biscayne Bay, it is a rare wind occurrence and it makes the bay a lot choppier,” he said.

WATCH 4PM STORY:

The yacht captain told Local 10 News the channel is known to be treacherous.

“It is pretty dangerous there to water ski because of the heavy traffic; I would never recommend it,” Diaz said, later adding, “The last thing someone would expect is to find (someone) waterskiing in the water in that heavy traffic area.”

Instead, he said, “If someone were to want to waterski or go tubing or any kind of water sports there’s an area right in front of Brickell, right in front of the apartment buildings in Brickell, actually just North of the Rickenbacker Causeway bridge and that is a safe area because it is away from a channel and it is a safe place to waterski.”

We’re also learning more about the boat towing Adler: a 42-foot Fjord.

“Which is not the ideal boat you want to be waterskiing on or pulling somebody with,” Diaz said. “The ideal waterskiing boat has one single engine and can turn on a dime and pick you right back up.”

Regarding the crash, he said, “If she let go of the rope or fell, and the captain did not notice, that would be negligent on his behalf because your eyes are locked on the person in tow and that is usually the rule we follow.”

Diaz said it’s possible that Alonso, who authorities said is cooperating with investigators, didn’t know he even hit Adler.

“The last thing someone would expect is to find a waterskier in the water in that heavy traffic area,” he said. “It was a four-engine boat, they could have been going at a high rate of speed (and) by the time they got close they didn’t even see her in the water.”

It’s not clear whether Alonso will be charged.

Ella Adler's Death: What is Happening to Boater Who Killed Florida Teen?

N ewly released video shows the 78-year-old boat operator who fatally struck Florida teenager Ella Adler in the moments before and after the tragic collision.

Adler, a 15-year-old Miami Beach resident, was wakeboarding in Key Biscayne on May 11 when she fell into the water, was struck by a boat and died from her injuries.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission identified Carlos Guillermo Alonso , who also goes by "Bill," as the person operating the vessel in an accident repor t obtained by Newsweek . He is also the owner of the boat.

His attorney, Lauren Field Krasnoff, sent Newsweek video footage that appears to show Alonso leaving and returning to the dock behind his home on Saturday.

"This was an unthinkable tragedy and our hearts break for Ella and her family," Krasnoff said. "We hope this video helps to shut down some of the awful and unfounded rumors going around about Bill, who is absolutely devastated."

Krasnoff said the video shows Alonso was the only person on the boat at the time.

"He was not drinking. And he had no clue that he may have hit someone – he parked the boat at his home, he was calm, he didn't clean the boat, and he did not try to hide anything," Krasnoff said.

The departure video was taken just after 3 p.m. Alonso is seen walking around the boat and preparing to depart. He arrived back at the dock around 4:30 p.m.

Krasnoff previously told Newsweek Alonso has no criminal record and he was driving his boat at a "reasonable rate of speed."

Alonso will continue to cooperate with authorities in any way possible, according to Krasnoff. The FWC has previously said Alonso is cooperating with the investigation.

No charges have been filed yet in this case and the FWC told Newsweek on Monday they have "no new information to share at this time."

Adler is the granddaughter of US Ambassador to Belgium Michael M. Adler. First Lady Jill Biden visited Adler's family in Florida on May 14 to pay condolences.

Adler was a ballerina who performed over 100 times in "The Nutcracker" with the Miami City Ballet at the Adrienne Arsht Center, according to her obituary . She also participated in the dance team, school play and Jewish Students Association at Ransom Everglades School in Miami.

"Today, our hearts ache as we mourn the loss of a bright young soul," Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava said on X . "My deepest condolences to the Adler family. Let's honor her memory by exercising better boat safety, to ensure tragedies like this never happen again. May she rest in peace."

Health | from shark bites to yacht fires, south florida trauma survivors show gratitude for their medical teams.

Those traumas have included a Pembroke Pines plane passenger injured in a crash, a West Palm Beach construction worker crushed by an excavator, and a Miami boater set ablaze by a yacht fire.

And then there was the 24-year-old who fell into shark-infested waters and suffered a gaping hole in his leg. Doctors at St. Mary’s Hospital in West Palm Beach cleaned the wound to prevent infection and stitched the footlong bite.

This week, trauma survivors returned to the South Florida hospitals that took lifesaving measures to keep them alive. They celebrated their recoveries and heaped praise and gratitude on the medical teams that provided their care.

Trauma Survivors’ Day has become an annual celebration that draws back patients who benefited from high-level trauma care available in about a half-dozen South Florida hospitals.

Palm Beach County resident Roy McCarty, 83, returned to Delray Medical Center with the mangled tire of the bicycle he rode when hit by a car. Thrusting the tire in the air, he explained that three things saved his life: the wheel that took the brunt of the hit, the coincidence that he landed on the driveway of a fire department, and the trauma team at Delray Medical Center that provided emergency care. He spent 11 weeks at the hospital with a fractured spine, a punctured lung and all but two ribs fractured.

McCarty told fellow survivors and medical staff at the hospital that it took him a year to fully recover.

“I am extremely grateful to have each day,” he said at the hospital’s survivors’ day event on Wednesday.

He is back riding his bike, but only short distances, and not on the road, he said.

Trauma surgeons, doctors, nurses and caregivers who spoke at celebrations noted that it is rare they see their patients after they are fully recovered — making Trauma Survivors’ Day particularly meaningful.

At Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital in Hollywood, Dr. Tamar Levene, a pediatric surgeon, and her team treat thousands of patients annually.

“One of unique things about serving the community in South Florida, is we have nice weather year-round so we see bike accidents and drownings 365 days a year,” she said.

The most common traumas are pedstricans striuck by cars, or bike accidents, she said.

However, she has treated less common traumas, too, during her eight years at Joe DiMaggio: a child falling from a balcony, water park injuries, dog bites, and just recently, a boy whose hand required major reconstruction as the result of a drone accident.

Levene said anywhere from 10 to 20 medical staff participate in trauma care for a patient, and often specialists are called in.

“There is a lot involved in assuring someone’s physical and mental well being,” she said.

Boat seized in connection with hit-and-run that killed florida teen: authorities.

Ella Adler, 15, was killed while wakeboarding in the Miami area, FWC said.

Authorities in Florida said they have seized a boat believed to be connected to a hit-and-run that killed a teenager wakeboarding in the Miami area over the weekend.

Ella Adler, 15, was struck by a boat while wakeboarding near Nixon Beach in Key Biscayne Saturday afternoon, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said.

MORE: Boat sought in hit-and-run that killed teen wakeboarding in Miami area

The teen had fallen in the water while being towed about a mile from shore and was waiting to be recovered by her boat when another vessel fatally struck her, an FWC spokesperson said. The boat that struck the teen did not stop, FWC said.

Following a dayslong search, FWC said Tuesday it has a boat matching the description given by witnesses of the striking vessel in their custody. The 42-foot Boston Whaler has been transported to an FWC evidence compound, the agency said.

The boat's owner and operator -- identified as a 78-year-old man from Coral Gables -- is cooperating with the investigation, FWC said. No charges have been announced in the case.

PHOTO: Ella Adler is seen in an undated photo.

FWC had called in additional resources and "worked around the clock" to find the vessel, FWC Chairman Rodney Barreto said Tuesday.

"As a father and grandfather, my heart is broken for the Adler family," Barreto said in a statement. "Ella’s death is devastating for her family, friends and the community at large. The FWC and our partner law enforcement agencies will not stop until we have all the answers and the case is solved.”

The investigation remains ongoing. FWC called for anyone with information or footage to contact them.

"The world lost a star this weekend. Ella was beautiful and shined brightly. In her 15 years she gave us more light than we could have ever dreamed," her parents, Amanda and Matt Adler, said in a statement to ABC News. "While we cope with this unspeakable tragedy, we hope the public will help us find the person who took her from us."

Coordinates of Elektrostal in decimal degrees

Coordinates of elektrostal in degrees and decimal minutes, utm coordinates of elektrostal, geographic coordinate systems.

WGS 84 coordinate reference system is the latest revision of the World Geodetic System, which is used in mapping and navigation, including GPS satellite navigation system (the Global Positioning System).

Geographic coordinates (latitude and longitude) define a position on the Earth’s surface. Coordinates are angular units. The canonical form of latitude and longitude representation uses degrees (°), minutes (′), and seconds (″). GPS systems widely use coordinates in degrees and decimal minutes, or in decimal degrees.

Latitude varies from −90° to 90°. The latitude of the Equator is 0°; the latitude of the South Pole is −90°; the latitude of the North Pole is 90°. Positive latitude values correspond to the geographic locations north of the Equator (abbrev. N). Negative latitude values correspond to the geographic locations south of the Equator (abbrev. S).

Longitude is counted from the prime meridian ( IERS Reference Meridian for WGS 84) and varies from −180° to 180°. Positive longitude values correspond to the geographic locations east of the prime meridian (abbrev. E). Negative longitude values correspond to the geographic locations west of the prime meridian (abbrev. W).

UTM or Universal Transverse Mercator coordinate system divides the Earth’s surface into 60 longitudinal zones. The coordinates of a location within each zone are defined as a planar coordinate pair related to the intersection of the equator and the zone’s central meridian, and measured in meters.

Elevation above sea level is a measure of a geographic location’s height. We are using the global digital elevation model GTOPO30 .
