Ocean Yacht Marina is nestled in Olde Towne Portsmouth, Virginia. After undergoing extensive restorations, the historic seaport town has become a prime entertainment hub with a restored art deco theater, numerous history museums, and yearly events such as “The Olde Town Ghost Walk” and the beautiful “Winter Wonderland”. For those who prefer to take it easy, the Elizabeth River Boardwalk and Seawall are excellent opportunities to enjoy amazing weather while indulging in breath-taking views of the water.

Located in the historic town of Portsmouth, Va., just across the Elizabeth River from Norfolk, is Ocean Marine Yacht Center. The state-of-the-art facility is just a half mile south of Mile Marker 0 on the ICW and offers boaters convenient access to the Chesapeake Bay and Atlantic Ocean, as well as to top-notch repair services. We truly are a full-service yacht facility, says Jim Bento, President and CEO of the property. We work on everything from 13-foot Boston Whalers to 200-foot yachts and have the in-house capability to handle these repairs indoors.

The on-site repair center offers refits and repairs, dockage and dry storage. The facility has an 80-ton Travelift and a 1,250-ton Syncrolift that can haul yachts up to 235 feet by way of a ground level rail-transfer system. Ocean Marine Yacht Center has completed more than 200 refit projects on some of the most beautiful megayachts in the world since opening in 2002, and its dry storage facility can hold as many as 320 boats up to 40 feet. Both bays of the indoor paint repair facility offer a cascading water wall washdown system, smooth paneled walls, overhead and recessed surround lighting, a pressurized ventilation system and heated floors for year-round operation. All the fully qualified technicians and certified mechanics work on-site. And don't miss the engine showroom.

The marina is open to transient visitors, with 122 floating slips, and can accommodate vessels up to 65 feet, with 1,500 feet of alongside dockage for larger boats. All slips have access to water, telephone, WiFi, and cable television with electric hookups. The marina's restrooms, showers, laundry facility and ship store are located in the dockmaster building. The ship store is fully stocked with bait and tackle and a complete parts department. Call ahead to order the parts you need and they will be ready and waiting for you the staff will even ship parts to anywhere in the world. Outside are two low- and high-volume fuel stations. The property also offers an excellent concierge service, providing guests with local info, recommendations and assistance with necessary arrangements during their stay. They can make tee times, reserve rental cars, book taxis and make spa appointments, and they know all about the activities taking place along Portsmouth's waterfront.

Upon arriving at Ocean Marine Yacht Center, visitors receive a complimentary welcome bag containing coupons for discounts at local area attractions such as the historic Commodore Theatre and Roger Brown's Restaurant & Sports Bar. The marina is also very pet friendly, with a large grassy area where guests can exercise their animals.

We were invited to ride on a personal yacht from a couple of really generous friends that we rent property from. They keep their boat here. The location is very easy to get to from the Norfolk area. They have parking available but be very careful where you park. They do tow and they have signs displayed everywhere. You can also ride the ferry at this location on high street which is about a block away. There is a small fee for riding on the ferry. They accept cash only. The yacht we were on was so lovely. Had everything you could possibly need to stay overnight. Or longer. You get a chance to see all the boats docked nearby and the water was very calm. Would definitely enjoy returning if invited. I hope to be invited again real soon.

Downtown is just a short walk away; there was a farmers market where I was able to pickup local produce. The staff was friendly and I felt safe where we were located.

Excellent service! The staff was helpful and courteous as I brought my vessel in for the evening.

18 November 2015, Dallas, Texas : Suntex Marinas and Valiant Holdings, LLC announce their collaborative relationship designed to capitalize on the exceptional reputation and services of Ocean Marine Yacht Center in Portsmouth, Virginia. On 6 November 2015, Suntex Marina Investors LLC acquired the facility from Ocean Marine, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Valiant Holdings.

In the transaction, Suntex Marinas acquired all of the real estate, will enhance services and amenities, and will operate the newly named Ocean Yacht Marina. Jim Bento of Valiant Holdings will continue to operate Ocean Marine Yacht Center via a leaseback of the megayacht repair facilities. The combined branding, marketing and operational proficiencies of both companies are expected to increase employment, with particular emphasis within yacht trades.

“Within the past month, Suntex Marinas has been proud to announce our intention and ability to provide the capital resources needed to support the marina industry,” says Johnny Powers, Suntex Founder and CEO. “It is our vision to be the best steward of the marina experience globally with early emphasis on the U.S. market. By acquiring Ocean Marine and collaborating with Jim Bento, we are confident that we are enabling the best possible marina experience for boaters, employees and communities alike.”

Ocean Yacht Marina and Ocean Marine Yacht Center attributes and features are many:

• A high-traffic coastal facility with 112 wet slips and 275 dry rack slips with a total of 11,800 LF catering to megayachts, power and sail boats, and center consoles.
• Convenient access by land and water: Ocean Yacht Marina is located on the Elizabeth River at the southern tip of the Chesapeake Bay, south of downtown Portsmouth, Virginia.
• The marina is located at mile-marker zero, the halfway point on the ICW between Miami and New York.
• A full-service marine yard capable of handling yachts to 305’ dockside, and a state-of-the-art refit and paint facility with over 50,000sq. ft. of indoor, climate controlled bays. Also features a 90-ton travel lift, two 20-ton forklifts and a 1,250-ton Syncrolift.
• A two-story office building, a ship’s store and a showroom.

Ocean Yacht Marina and Ocean Marine Yacht Center also benefit from two other Suntex marinas in the immediate vicinity—Tidewater Yacht Marina and York River Yacht Haven (acquired in 2014 and 2013 respectively).
