Perfect for all occasions, our fleet of spacious and luxurious boats can be tailored to suit your needs and requirements.Each of our boats meet strict safety standards, have a licensed bar, open seated top deck, enclosed dance floor and great sound system.

Privately Hire a boat and set sail across beautiful Plymouth Sound, flanked by the stunning views along Devon and Cornish Coastlines.  Passing such places as the famous Plymouth Hoe and Smeaton’s Tower, Drake’s Island, then continuing up the calm waters of the River Tamar.

If you are planning a week night gathering? Why not take advantage of our reduced rate cruises, with the Early Bird Special. Privately charter your own boat for a two hour cruise, at a discounted rate, available from Monday to Sunday from 5pm to 7pm (set discounted time).

The Island Princess

This traditional 70 seat wooden boat was built in the Channel Islands, originally for the Guernsey to Sark run, with on board toilet facilities and plenty of standing and sitting space for a comfortable voyage.

Although the Island Princess does not have the space and capacity of our larger boats, she is affectionately known as our trusty utility boat. Well maintained, strong and sturdy, The Island Princess is able to act as a safe and reliable stand in boat across the operation.

The Edgcumbe Belle

Built, locally, forty years ago specifically for the Cremyll ferry operation, the aptly named Edgcumbe Belle has served as a safe and loyal foot passenger ferry for many years. A beautifully built, sleek and slender traditional wooden boat, she takes up to 128 passengers.

The Weston Maid

Part of the fabric of the community, The Weston Maid or Red Pig, as she’s affectionately known by local Cawsand Ferry commuters, is a 40ft, purpose built, 64 passenger vessel. Built as a lifeboat for the ocean liner, Canberra, an extremely elegant and famous passenger ship. The Canberra was the first ship in the world to have lifeboats specifically designed to slot neatly into compartments in the side of the ship.

The Weston Maid is now part of our e-Project working towards the governments’ Clean Maritime Plan, to have zero-carbon, fully electric commercial vessels operating within the South-West.  Read more … News & Events

The Plymouth Princess

Plymouth Boat Trips has introduced a new, modern vessel to service the famous Cawsand Ferry route. The Plymouth Princess will carry passengers between Plymouth and the scenic, Cornish beaches and villages of Cawsand and Kingsand.

Designed and built in Cornwall, for the Kingsbridge to Salcombe ferry operation, the Plymouth Princess will offer a smoother, faster journey for passengers with more space, a seated open top deck and lower enclosed deck.

The Plymouth Princess is M.C.A. approved and licensed to carry 103 passengers.

The Tamar Belle

In November 2021, we welcomed back the Tamar Belle to the Plymouth Boat Trips fleet. The Tamar Belle, previously operated for Tamar Cruising & Cremyll Ferry until 2011 when sold to work on the St Mawes to Falmouth service, very close to her previous operating area in the Helford Passage, whilst named ‘Queen of Helford’.

The Tamar Belle returns to operate our popular hop on and off ferry service from the Barbican, Royal William Yard & Mount Edgcumbe, linking three iconic destinations on the water. With plenty of seats and room on two levels for all local commuters, shoppers, and visitors, licensed to carry up to 100 passengers.

The Plymouth Sound

The Plymouth Sound is a comfortable and spacious cruise boat. Recently refurbished, she holds up to 190 passengers. A spacious, sturdy and modern boat, with fully licensed bar, fantastic sound system and DJ decks – The Plymouth Sound is the ultimate ‘on the water’ events venue. Evening parties and events involving a licensed bar being in operation are restricted to a maximum of 150 passengers.

The Plymouth Venturer

Launched in 2017, the Plymouth Venturer is the largest passenger boat in Plymouth, offering a new level of luxury cruising in the South West. With a licensed and daytime capacity of 240 passengers.

Likewise,   she is the ultimate floating   party venue, the heated saloon area is furnished with comfortable seating and dining tables. The large, wood decked dance floor is party ready and there’s plenty of room to stroll around the open front, rear and large upper deck. With a restriction of 200 passengers for all our private hires.

With licensed bar and toilet facilities, the Plymouth Venturer makes the perfect venue for any occasion, from private parties to corporate functions and events.

Owner Skipper - Ricky Matthews has been operating these waters for decades. Wreck and reef fishing with lures and live baits is his speciality. No one works harder to find you the fish and ensure your trip goes as you would expect from a premier Charter operator. Relief skipper Kev Lavis was a skipper on the first ever Bluefin Tuna tagging programme. He specialises in big predator fishing such as tuna and shark, but is just as at home targeting the varied species on the inshore reef and banks marks.

Another school night fishy escapade! A cracking evening out in great company catching rays eels whiting doggies ��

Now the homework is done, time to put the anglers on the fish... Another night time break in the winds, taking some local rods out to the ray grounds. Stacks of small eyed rays, a few blonde rays, a spotted ray, a stack of whiting (even enough left for me after the trip) and a few hard fighting congers too. Superb fun in 50 feet of water!

A rare play day for relief skipper kev! Joined by the boss we headed out to pinpoint where the rays are - we've had loads of ray on the evening trips this season but only 2-3 per trip, they must be holding up somewhere... Within minutes of dropping the lines in the rays were feeding, and feeding hard. With only the two of us onboard it was manic! We lost count at 26 rays, mainly small eyed up to 12.75lb but a few blondes to 14lb there too. In just 2 hours of fishing we smashed through 4 packs of sandeel, 3 boxes of squid and a pack on anchovy. When the baits are only big enough for 3/0 hooks, that a lot of fish!!! An awesome afternoon out with the Mrs and the homework done for the charters.

The heavens opened! Wow what a down pour! So much rain I thought we saw the Ark go by at one point. Making the most of the break in the winds we headed out for some huss and congers before coming back under the cliff to top up on some whiting. The huss played ball, dozens to mid doubles and a good stamp of eels into the late 20's. Finished off with a few buckets of 1-8 to 2-12 whiting. An awesome way to spend a few hours of an evening.

A superb days fishing on the local banks. A group of local lads treated to some great winter anchor fishing. Lost count of the number of blonde rays to mid 20's, spurs to late teens, smoothing to 12lb and the usual extras like whiting, pouting, conger. Rods bending all day, loads of fun and plenty of hot drinks too!

You’re in very safe hands with our skipper Peter Wiliamson who is a highly qualified RYA Commercial Yachtmaster with over 40 years at the helm, most of those along the South Devon and Cornish coastline so he really does know all the best secret spots.

Your Boat for the Day

Your boat will be our 40ft motor cruiser Intrigue that is coded by the Marine & Coastguard Agency (MCA) to the highest standard for this type of vessel to carry up to 12, so that’s 2 crew plus your group of up to 10 guests.

If the weather is hot and sunny you can bask in the sun on top of the loungers on our flybridge, put your feet up in the comfort of our cockpit or lay out a towel and sunbathe on the forward decks.

Hot and sunny in England? As you can see from some of the photos we have some gorgeous days out on the water, in fact there’s nowhere better to be when its sunny.

But don’t worry if the weather’s not so hot and sunny. We have a warm and comfortable saloon where your whole group can relax, eat and drink and enjoy the cruise just as much. Charter Prices

If you would like to get out on the water and see the city and beautiful surroundings, then an estuary cruise typically lasts up to 2 hours and costs between £195 and £295 depending on your group size and how much you would like to see.

A half day trip allows you to escape and do something a little different. You can choose the morning, afternoon or evening and you will be able to venture a little further than the local surroundings. You’ll also have time to stop off for lunch at either one of the area’s lovely waterside pubs, or bring along your own picnic to enjoy anchored in a quiet cove. For the full experience of your own private motor cruiser and crew for the day, you’ll be able to head down the coast for the day stopping off along the way and visiting one of coast’s wonderful towns. There are beaches where you can stop and relax, enjoying a few drinks or a swim as well as seeing parts of the coastline that most people will never get to experience. This really is a special day out that everybody in your group will enjoy, no matter how young or old there will be something for everyone. A full day trip typically lasts around 8 hours and the price will be between £795 and £995 depending on your group size and how much you would like to see and do.
