Best luxury yacht: 7 ultimate luxury cruisers you can buy

  • Toby Hodges
  • March 14, 2024

Toby Hodges takes a look at all the nominees and the winner of the best luxury yacht category in the European Yacht of the Year Awards

The definition of the best luxury yacht will differ according to personal opinion and from boat to boat. This year’s nominees in the luxury yacht category of the European Yacht of the Year Awards proved that perfectly.

The European Yacht of the Year awards are selected by a broad panel of expert judges from across the globe. These are people who spend their professional lives sailing and comparing yachts, so you can be certain that the yachts which stand out in this field are truly the best of the best on the market.

The best luxury yachts

Best luxury yacht winner 2024 – arcona 50.

When you enter the fiercely competitive 50ft luxury performance yacht market you better get it right. And the jury felt Arcona managed that. This watershed design for the traditional Swedish brand, by X-Yachts co-founder and former designer Niels Jeppesen, is a big, contemporary new Arcona, one that sees it move away from its cruiser-racer heritage and classic interiors.

The on trend styling inside and out is backed up by a premium level of build and finish quality and sailing performance – particularly if you have the performance sails, traveller and deep (2.95m) keel options the test boat carried, although the latter does limit your berthing and anchoring options.

While I doubt it’ll be raced or will suit typical bluewater use, it offers a purity of performance push-button sailing: a handsome prospect upwind in a light breeze, it transforms into a powerful reaching machine with stacks of control.

As chairman of our jury, Jochen Rieker, puts it: “The boat certainly did not win for her somewhat borrowed looks. She wins by checking all the boxes in all other respects. Slipping along gracefully in the lightest of airs, holding her stride and her balance in more demanding conditions, offering warmth, light and this reassuring feeling of utter quality down below – there simply isn’t anything to fault.”

Contest 50CS

The Contest 50CS, for example, is an archetype luxury cruising yacht, one built to the highest standards and that could take you to most waters in impeccable comfort. This model is, uniquely, available in two versions: this more conventional 50CS with aft master cabin, or the forward owner’s suite version on the aft cockpit Contest 49CS . We ran a full test on the latter after spending two days aboard in the North Sea, where that noticeably high freeboard, which may not aid boarding nor windage, helped keep us dry on deck in a steady Force 6 gusting 7.

As the 50CS proved, this Judel/Vrolijk design keeps slipping along in the light stuff too, providing enjoyable sailing in 6 knots breeze under a code sail. The centre cockpit offers a deep protected guest area, but also links well to the spacious aft deck.

And the Wetzels-Brown-designed interiors of Contests today are stunning and hard to match. The engineering, access to usable stowage, details and finish on the 50CS is first class and to get this level of quality at this size is special.

Both Contest and X-Yachts are early adopters of hybrid power, offering their bluewater cruisers with optional electric drives. For the XC 47 this was designed-in from the start to offer Oceanvolt’s award-winning new 25kW regenerative drive.

The XC 47 is another wonderfully engineered and thought out yacht for distance cruising, in particular for those who also enjoy hands-on helming pleasure. That should come as no surprise to any X aficionados, but what really struck me most about this yacht was the stowage, and the forethought needed to create that, together with how practical it has been made.

That may sound slightly anticlimactic but ask any long-term cruiser and stowage is always a priority. On deck, this constitutes a huge lazarette and sail locker, plus clever systems for launching a dinghy via davits and a liferaft canister, while below decks every square inch of space has been used effectively, with lockers hinged with gas struts.

It’s clear the Danish yard went to considerable time and effort, even building a full mock up of the interior that could be canted 20° each way.

If the deck saloon style looks didn’t sell this model to all – this is the first full non-Jeppesen designed X – the jury were converted once they’d taken the helm. ‘Quirky’ became ‘muscular and bold’. The ease with which it can be sailed from the cockpit was also appreciated.

While I understand many offshore cruisers like a protected centre cockpit and more sun protection, the attention to detail, stowage and practicalities, combined with the direct steering, motion and enjoyable sailing this X offers make it a standout new offering.

Jeanneau Yachts 55

Meanwhile the Jeanneau Yachts 55 stands out for different, unique reasons in this category, offering a completely new concept in comfort on deck while at anchor and a novel accommodation layout. Its focus is on outdoor living space.

What helps place this in a luxury bracket is not simply the price or the creative input of superyacht specialist design duo Philppe Briand and Andrew Winch, rather that its layout creates a palatial amount of private space for the owner’s suite. Guest cabins have their own direct access from the extensive cockpit via gullwing doors.

It certainly makes sense for solo owners or couples using it as a warm water apartment. How many people this will suit is another question, as it segregates any guests, crew or children from the galley and saloon.

I used the term monocat when I first viewed it, as the 55 really does attempt to mix the two worlds, particularly in terms of providing owner privacy and lounging space. Choose the rigid hard top and windshield and there’s a vast amount of covered area including a dinette and chart table – plus a bimini can shade all that extensive aft deck too.

The penalty comes in additional weight and wetted surface, and is felt in the handling and performance, the latter particularly in lighter breeze with the optional in-mast furling, self tacking headsail and shallow draught package we had. However, it’s set up to be easily managed from the mid cockpit with good visibility from the twin helms and easy circulation thanks to the ramped side decks. Full report in YW February 2024.

Best luxury yacht 2023

Best luxury yacht winner – oyster 495.

It is hard to imagine that the decor of a yacht can change its look and feel quite this much, yet the layout of this second 495, Eddie Jordan’s dramatic looking Tuga , is in fact identical to the first boat that I spent several days aboard last summer.

At its heart is a wonderfully (Humphreys) designed and engineered luxury bluewater cruiser conceived from the ground up, built in a new dedicated facility to a repeatable quality very few yards are capable of.

The 495 offers consistent passage making speeds in real voluminous comfort – whether enjoyed from the deep cockpit or the best-in-class aft cabin. Deck stowage and mechanical space is also superb.

Then factor in the family appeal of Oyster’s after sales and world rally programme and you start to appreciate the premium world this sub 50-footer gives access to.

The first yacht fully conceived under CEO Richard Hadida’s reign, this is also the smallest completely new Oyster 495 since 2005 – and it’s a triumph. It was our September 2022 cover star in which we featured the full review from our Oyster 495 three day test .

Beneteau Oceanis Yacht 60

The Oceanis Yacht 60 is a very different beast indeed to the 62 it replaces as flagship for the Beneteau range. The yard has learned plenty from the success of the First 53/OY 54 and wanted to create a 60 in this style and with the same deck layout (albeit larger and wider) and ease of circulation.

The construction experience of the smaller model clearly helped too, as this is a whopping five tonnes lighter than the bulky OY62 and with a deeper (2.6m) keel. The telling result is on the water. It feels sporty to helm and we averaged a knot slower than the single figure 6-8 knot windspeeds upwind and matched them reaching with Code 0 and a slight swell.

The vast cockpit works well, sheltered below the semi rigid bimini, it has plentiful lounging space with sailing systems led aft to the twin helms. The interior sees a 3+3 layout, where Beneteau wanted to get rid of the corridor effect of the OY62. The galley is forward to help open out space, while the forward suite with offset berth and headboard aft works well to give space with privacy.

This is an attractive, voluminous yacht that leaves a good overall impression whether under sail, on or below decks.

Ice 62 Targa

It all looks pretty funky below decks on the Ice 62 Targa too, especially if you’re watching the masthead fore and aft cameras (plus bow and prop cam) on central displays mounted in the saloon while you slip out of the dock! The Ice is a seriously impressive, contemporary yacht, one that in looks, performance and execution, won over many of the judges.

The first to launch is a highly customised project for a passionate sailing owner who covers long distances solo – he’d already sailed it 3,000 miles around the Med that autumn. It’s impressively stiff, sails handsomely and, thanks to a telescopic keel, points well. We matched single figure windspeeds, and clocked up to the high 9s in 12 knots wind.

Umberto Felci’s team spent 4,000 hours on the design, providing lots of space and light to the interior and a chillout zone in the semi raised saloon. This was easily the coolest looking yacht, with its aggressive reverse bow, chamfered gunwales and carbon T-top bimini, and all engineered and built to a high standard.

Chris Riley

What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you think of a yacht? Probably those huge luxury cruisers reserved for the high society folks, right? Well, that’s true, but those are a special group of ships referred to as luxury yachts.

The questions you need to be asking are – What is a yacht? At what point is a yacht regarded as a ship? And, what exactly makes a yacht a yacht? Here’s a little boating lesson for you.

A yacht is any fast cruising watercraft used for pleasure or sport. Yachts can be classified into cruisers, superyachts, and mega yachts. The difference between them all boils down to their respective sizes.

Luxury vessels that are less than 12 meters long fall in the class of cabin cruiser yachts – or simply, cruisers. Those that measure more than 24 meters are classified as superyachts. Anything that’s 50+ meters long is a mega yacht. Anything larger than a mega yacht is generally referred to as a ship and generally describes a working vessel as opposed to something recreational.

So, as you can see, you don’t necessarily have to be swimming in a ton of money to become a yacht owner. The only difference will be in the size of the craft you get. Clear enough?

Without further ado, here are the 15 best yachts, as well as a few useful tips on how to choose the best one.

How to Choose the Best Yachts – Buyer’s Guide

A yacht is a pretty big purchase. So, you need to know what to look for when choosing the right one for your needs. Here are a couple of pointers that might come in handy.

Type of Yacht

The type of yacht you buy depends in large part on your intended use for it. Most yachts tend to fall into one of three categories – For water sports like wakeboarding , fishing motor yachts, or the overnight cruising variety. Once you know what kind of recreational activities you plan on engaging in, that should help narrow down your choices.

Next, you need to consider what size of yacht you should get. Do you have a young family that you intend to expand in the coming years? Do you plan to use the vessel for day cruising, or do you intend to spend a couple of nights on board from time to time?

Will the yacht be just for you and your significant other, or do you plan to frequently entertain several guests on board? This will advise whether you should buy a cabin cruiser yacht, a superyacht, or a mega yacht.

In a perfect world, you would have all the money you need to buy any kind of watercraft you want. Sadly, that’s not the reality we live in. Keep in mind that yachts don’t exactly come cheap. So, even if you’re planning to purchase a small yacht, you’ll still need to spend quite a bit of cash to get it.

The best thing to do would be to set a budget and compare the different models on offer from different manufacturers . Aside from the boat’s purchase price, you also need to think about the costs associated with owning a yacht. These include insurance, repairs, maintenance, cleaning, and the vessel’s general servicing.

Figure out what kind of comfort and convenience features are a must-have for you. How many cabins should it have? Do you need it to have a summer grill up top? Or will the one in the mini kitchen below-deck suffice? Ensure that the yacht you get has all the amenities you need.

Last but not least, before you sign any purchase contract, ensure that you schedule a sea trial with the dealer. That way, you get a true feel for the boat before you buy it.

Look Before You Leap

If you’re in the market for a shiny new yacht, any of the 15 vessels we’ve detailed in this guide will make an excellent choice. Do your homework beforehand, and make sure your desired craft has all the features and amenities you seek.

Use the tips we’ve outlined in this guide to help you choose the best yachts from all the different options that are hot on the market right now. Happy yachting!

In the meantime, if you’re looking for the best aluminum fishing boat , we’ve got you covered. Check out our review for our top picks.

Best Liveaboard Catamaran Sailboats

Best Liveaboard Catamaran Sailboats | Life of Sailing

Catamarans are an excellent choice for living on the water. Modern catamarans are more spacious than monohulls and provide all the comforts of home.

In this article, we'll cover five of the best liveaboard catamarans available on the new and used market today. We'll also cover how to choose the best and most comfortable catamaran to live aboard.

The best liveaboard catamarans are the Manta 42, the Nautitech 44, the Voyage 44, the Privilege 435, the Elba 35, and the Lagoon 380. These vessels are seaworthy, comfortable, and ideal for long-term living.

We sourced the technical specifications of these vessels from maritime records and directly from sailboat manufacturers. We also considered the opinions of sailors who live aboard these vessels and others.

Table of contents

Living on a Catamaran

Living on a catamaran has both advantages and disadvantages when compared to living on a monohull sailboat. That said, most of the challenges of living aboard a catamaran are mitigated on larger and higher-quality vessels.

Catamarans feature two hulls placed side-by-side and connected by a deck. As a result, the cabins are split between the two hulls, and you may have to go outside to get to the other cabin. Thankfully, most modern cruising catamarans have a center cockpit that connects the two hulls and often features living spaces.

Some vessels have facilities (such as the galley and table) in one cabin and sleeping areas in the other. However, some catamarans have sleeping and cooking facilities in both hulls. The configuration you choose depends on how many people attended live aboard and what layout you prefer.

Catamarans offer superior stability and motion comfort, which is a big advantage when living aboard. Overall, conditions under sail and in the harbor are likely much better aboard a properly-proportioned catamaran.

How to Choose a Liveaboard Catamaran

What qualities make a catamaran ideal for living aboard, and how do you choose the best boat? Attributes such as size and interior layout are the most important, but others such as fit and finish and seakeeping abilities should also be considered.

The best liveaboard catamarans range in size between 30 and 50 feet, width 40 feet being the comfortable average. In general, vessels smaller than 30 feet simply lack the space to include a practical interior layout.

Interior Layout

Interior layout is largely a matter of personal opinion. The most popular liveaboard catamaran features a spacious center cockpit with access to both hulls. Master bedrooms are often found in the stern and the bow of each hull, with heads in between and a galley in the center cockpit. Some catamarans feature one or more additional settees, along with storage in all areas.

Tech and Convenience

The majority of monohull sailboats were produced between the 1960s in the 1980s. This isn't the case for catamarans, as their popularity is more recent. As a result, you're likely to find considerably more modern amenities aboard. Everything from autopilot systems to bathtubs are available aboard newer catamarans.

How Much does a Liveaboard Catamaran Cost?

Catamaran prices vary widely based on age, length, and overall quality. Older vessels cost anywhere between $30,000 and $100,000. Newer and more comfortable liveaboard catamarans generally start above the $100,000 mark and extend up to $500,000 or more.

Best Catamarans to Live On

We chose the following six liveaboard catamarans based on size, interior amenities, handling, and price. These vessels are popular amongst liveaboard sailors and make exceptionally comfortable floating homes both in port and at sea.

1. Manta 42

{{boat-info="/boats/manta-42"}}

The first vessel on our list is an exceptional cruising catamaran that's also a comfortable place to live. The Manta 42 can be found on the used market, and it features great handling and a spacious cabin.

Unlike most catamarans, which are built overseas, the Manta 42 was produced entirely in the United States. The Florida-based company produced these vessels in the 1990s and 2000s, and they proved extremely popular with offshore cruisers.

The Manta 42 is known for its stability, hull strength, and speed. However, its cabin layout is also smart and livable. Most Manta 42s feature an asymmetrical cabin layout. The cabin has two heads located in convenient places; one on the port side across from a master berth and one on the starboard side, which is easily accessible from the cockpit. It features three berthing areas and one large sitting area, with seating and storage throughout.

The Manta 42 also has exceptional storage capacity. The vessel stores 125 gallons of fuel and a whopping 100 gallons of freshwater. It also has generous gray and black water tanks to service both heads and the galley sinks.

Overall, the Manta 42 is an excellent choice for cruising liveaboards. It's a fast, nimble, and safe vessel with ample headroom and space throughout the cabin.

Quick Facts:

  • 42-foot overall length
  • Large master cabins
  • Built for long-term living and cruising
  • High storage capacity for fuel and water
  • High hull strength
  • American-built
  • Production ceased in the 2000s, so equipment may not be up-to-date

2. Nautitech 44

{{boat-info="/boats/nautitech-44"}}

The Nautitech 44 is the obvious choice for the number two spot on our list. This well-known cruising catamaran has a unique Center cockpit design which makes it stylish and functional.

The futuristic cockpit of the Nautitech 44 allows the crew to enjoy ample ventilation even in wet conditions. This makes it ideal for living abroad in tropical climates where rain and heat often accompany each other.

Nautitech, which is a French company, continues to produce this model due to its popularity and excellent seakeeping abilities. Prices almost always exceed $100,000, both new and used, making it one of the costlier models on the list. For the price, you get a fine interior fit and finish along with the latest comforts and conveniences.

The Nautitech 44 is available in several cabin layouts. The most popular configuration features an expansive center cockpit with below-deck living spaces, along with three berthing areas and a galley. Additionally, most of these vessels feature a large master head and several smaller heads in each of the hulls. Access to each hull through the center cockpit is easy, and the headroom is excellent.

The Nautitech 44 is a fast boat, and it's great for offshore cruising. However, hull width was sacrificed for speed and handling. This means that the hulls are slightly narrower than some of the competition. That said, it doesn't seem to bother most Nautitech owners.

  • 44-foot overall length
  • Large center cabin
  • All-weather control cockpit
  • Great ventilation
  • Ample room in the hulls
  • Wide hallways
  • Spacious heads
  • Excellent seakeeping abilities
  • Expensive on the used market
  • No open cockpit

3. Voyage 44

{{boat-info="/boats/voyage-44"}}

Here's a popular and spacious catamaran with some unique characteristics that make it ideal for living aboard. The Voyage 44 is a wide and stable multihull sailboat with a large center cockpit and an attractive interior layout.

The cabin of the Voyage 44 is modern and airy, taking advantage of light colors and thoughtfully designed furniture to make the most out of limited space. This is conducive to a pleasant living environment that's also easy to clean. The center cockpit also features a large, full galley.

The center cockpit stands out, as the voyage 44s exceptionally wide beam gives it plenty of room for tables, sitting areas, and other amenities. The windows let in plenty of light, in the cabin is completely weatherproof.

Below decks, the Voyage 44 features up to six separate heads and several sleeping areas. The master head, located in the bow, is one of the largest available on sailboats of this size range. The vessel features up to eight individuals sleeping areas, which is remarkable for a 44-foot boat.

The Voyage 44 is an excellent liveaboard catamaran due to its wide beam and extremely spacious living accommodations. Out of all the boats on this list, the Voyage 44 is likely the best value overall as it's relatively affordable. The Voyage 44 may be the perfect long-term liveaboard catamaran under 50 feet in length.

  • Unusually wide beam
  • Full master head with two showers
  • Very high speeds
  • Sturdy construction
  • Very large center cabin
  • Eight sleeping areas
  • May be too wide for some marina slips

4. Privilege 435

{{boat-info="/boats/privilege-435"}}

The Alliaura Marine Privilege 435 is a simple and elegant catamaran with a comfortable interior, smart design, ingrate offshore handling characteristics. This speedy vessel is constructed with some of the finest materials available, and the overall fit and finish are excellent. Behind the center cabin, the Privilege 435 features a strong fiberglass canopy to protect the crew from spray and son.

The majority of Privilege 435s on the market were built recently, so you can expect the latest navigation and safety equipment. Additionally, the vessel is efficient and includes amenities such as multiple heads, modern utilities, and easy access to the hulls through the center cabin.

The vessel features four separate bedrooms and enough bathrooms and showers for each person (or couple). The center Cabin is wide and features comfortable seating areas, along with a full galley with a stove and a fridge. Stepping inside the Privilege 435 is like stepping inside of a vacation house, and it feels purpose-built for long-term living.

The vessel is available in relatively high numbers, though its popularity means you're likely to pay top dollar. On the used market, the vessel sells for between $250,000 to $350,000 on average. This puts it on the upper edge of our price range. But for the price, you got a long-lasting and desirable catamaran that's ready to live aboard almost immediately.

The Privilege 435 is ideal for cruising liveaboards with families or sailors who need space for guests. The interior is very comfortable and aesthetically pleasing. It has several great spaces for entertaining multiple people. On short-to-medium voyages, the Privilege 435 should be adequate for up to eight or more adults.

  • 43-foot overall length
  • Full-size berthing areas
  • Large center galley and sitting area
  • Spacious interior
  • Large showers
  • Great offshore handling
  • Expensive, even on the used market

{{boat-info="/boats/fountaine-pajot-elba-45"}}

The Fountain Pajot Elba 45 is a modern and luxurious cruising catamaran with a high freeboard and all the living amenities you'd expect. It's a high-caliber vessel that sails as good as it looks, and it's still produced by the original manufacturer in Europe.

The Elba 45 has one of the largest center cabins of any catamaran in its size range. It features a large settee, a full galley, and access to both hulls. The cabin layout is flexible, and you can order one of several different designs. One of the most popular is the classic 'mirror' layout, where each hull has two master berthing areas, a V-berth in the bow, and two separate heads.

However, other versions are available with attached bathing facilities and additional room for storage, cooking, and other activities. One of the unique features of the Elba 45 is the addition of a V-berth bow. This berth connects directly to the master Beds, which makes for a unique but flexible sleeping arrangement.

If purchased new, the Elba 45 will set you back around $430,000 to $450,000. For the price, you get the latest technology and the finest interior and exterior materials. This is important in the long run as the best liveaboard catamarans should be built to last.

The fit and finish of this vessel are ideal for those looking for a luxurious living environment. Its accommodations are closer to that of a luxury yacht than a sailboat. As a result, the Elba 45 is a great place to live long-term and entertain guests.

  • 45-foot overall length
  • Multiple layouts available
  • Luxury fit-and-finish
  • Four cabins
  • Six full-size berths
  • Luxurious amenities
  • Additional V-berths in bow
  • Highest build quality
  • Upper end of the price range

6. Lagoon 380

{{boat-info="/boats/lagoon-380"}}

The majority of suitable liveaboard catamarans are over 40 feet in length. This is because it's difficult to fit comfortable accommodations in a smaller vessel. However, the Lagoon 380 is a notable exception. This 39-foot catamaran is one of the most comfortable vessels in its class, and it features a spacious interior and excellent design.

The Lagoon 380 is a newer vessel that features modern conveniences and adheres to high safety standards. Modern manufacturing techniques make this vessel stronger and easier to maintain than its older counterparts. Additionally, owners praise its sailing characteristics in both rough and calm weather.

The spacious center cabin features a full galley and sitting area with a notably wide walking room in between. It also boasts excellent visibility, which also increases the amount of natural light in the living areas. Additionally, the center cabin features easy access to the hulls, and the mirror layout provides comfortable accommodations for eight adults.

The interior space aboard the Lagoon 380 is almost indistinguishable from catamarans between 44 and 50 feet in length. The primary difference is that, instead of the traditional two heads per hull, the Lagoon 380 only features one. That said, the heads include a large shower and plenty of room to move around.

The Lagoon 380 is the perfect solution for sailors looking for big boat accommodations in a small package. Due to its shorter length, the Lagoon 380 avoids additional fees for docking and servicing vessels over 40 feet overall.

  • 39-foot overall length
  • Full galley
  • Under 40 feet in length
  • High construction quality
  • Customizable options
  • Great handling
  • Fewer bathrooms than some similar vessels

Eight Great Boats Under $30,000

  • By Boating Tech Team
  • March 30, 2023

It’s a refrain we hear all the time in our travels: New boats have gotten so expensive that they’re no longer accessible to most people. To that, we offer the following rejoinder: There are plenty of great boats out there that will get you on the water at a reasonable cost if you know where to look. The following eight boats provide solid evidence that there’s a new boat out there for you, no matter your budget.

Bayliner Element M15

Bayliner Element M15

Bayliner was on the forefront of building affordable boats for first-time buyers a few years back when it introduced the first Element E16. These boats are designed to bring families onto the water for an entertaining day of boating with little to no hassle and expense. The M15 continues that concept with another solid winner in the affordable new-boat market.

The fiberglass M15 has a deep cockpit and a bow lounge with high freeboard to keep the crew secure underway. Bayliner placed the helm aft along the starboard side, so the driver sits on the transom bench. Doing this allowed for a larger bow lounge for the crew to socialize. All told, the M15 can handle a crew of five. While it’s not going to set any speed records (we hit 31.3 mph with the 50 hp Mercury outboard), the M hull is designed to be a stable and predictable platform that doesn’t lean to one side or the other depending on weight distribution.

Bayliner Boats – Knoxville, Tennessee; 865-971-6311 ; bayliner.com

Veer X13

Veer is a roto-molded craft -specifically targeted at first-time boat buyers, with the aim of being affordable and easy to maintain and operate. It’s ideally suited to pair with Mercury’s Avator 7.5e electric outboard , or you can order it with a tiller-steered 9.9 hp Mercury gasoline FourStroke. The gas outboard comes with a 3-gallon fuel tank, and the electric outboard is powered by a 1 kW battery. Both choices are economical and lightweight, giving the boat a shallow 6.3-inch draft, so you can sneak into the skinniest water. The roto-molded plastic body is easy to maintain and can survive rookie mistakes around the docks or boat ramp without needing a fiberglass repair kit.

The X13 features an aft two-seat bench and a shallow cockpit with a SportTrak mounting system to add accessories to your liking. The bow serves as a forward casting deck or observation platform when you’re not under power. A removable standing bar provides a handhold while standing or transiting from stern to bow.

The X13 comes standard with a galvanized trailer. The combined boat, trailer and engine weight measures 835 pounds, so you don’t need a big rig to tow it. It’s a great choice to get started on the water.

Starcraft Renegade 168 SC

Starcraft Renegade 168 SC

Here you can buy a fully functional aluminum-hulled multi-species boat to chase after bass, walleye or whatever floats your boat. The boat has twin bucket seats—one at the starboard helm station protected by a windshield on the console, and one for the co-angler on the port side. A third seat mounts just aft of the portside seat, so you can bring along another friend.

The boat features fore and aft casting decks with pedestal seat mounts, a bow mount for an electric trolling motor , a rod storage locker, and a livewell in the transom casting deck. The gunwale topsides have a tracking groove system so you can mount accessories and customize your rig with extra rod holders, downriggers or other amenities. Set it up how you like to create your own lean, mean fishing machine.

Starcraft Marine  – New Paris, Indiana; 574-831-2950 ;  starcraftmarine.com

Tahoe T16

There’s no haggling when you buy this 16-foot-5-inch runabout from Tahoe Marine. Its nationally advertised price includes a custom trailer, a 60 hp outboard motor, a Bimini top, and a TurboSwing on the transom. The TurboSwing is an expensive option on most boats but standard on this one. It balances the load as the skier cuts back and forth, giving the passengers a much better ride and a more fun one for the rider. The seating inside is spacious, with seats that convert forward to aft-facing at the bow, and a swim platform for getting on your skis or reboarding with the ladder. The dashboard includes a sporty three-spoke wheel and a 7-inch digital display for reporting engine functions like temperature, water pressure and voltage, and operating the Kicker KMC1 stereo. It also reports water depth and boatspeed. An optional 75 hp outboard motor is available for $24,595, and we think you might appreciate that extra oomph for watersports. The T16 is sporty-looking and available in six different color schemes, with stainless-steel hardware and durable hinges on the deck hatch.

Sea-Doo Switch 13 Sport

Sea-Doo Switch 13 Sport

The smallest version of our 2022 Boat of the Year , the 13 Sport offers the same handle-bar-style controls. Punch the trigger throttle as you crank into a turn, and it displays much of a PWC’s excitement and quick-reflex maneuverability. Approach a dock or launch ramp, and Sea-Doo’s Intelligent Brake and -Reverse (iBR) system provides intuitive, low-speed maneuverability and control not found on pontoons. You can load this boat on a trailer or place it into its slip with precision and ease.

The trademark feature of the Sea-Doo Switch is the reconfigurable floor plan. Nearly all seating and components can release from the deck in Lego-like fashion and reposition elsewhere around the boat in seconds. This approach allows the owner to change the boat’s focus, going for social-cruise seating one day or a cleared-out fishing floor plan the next. A variety of accessories, like coolers and storage caddies, can attach with ease. With the 170 hp Rotax engine, the boat is capable of hitting 38.7 mph.

Tracker Classic XL

Tracker Classic XL

When Tracker Marine introduced the first Tracker Classic bass boat in the late ’70s, it was a revolutionary concept. Before Tracker, boaters had to buy a boat, buy a matching motor, buy a matching trailer, buy a matching trolling motor, and get all of that assembled by a dealer. They even had to mount and install their own sonar. But Johnny Morris, who co-founded Tracker Marine, believed this should all be done before the boat owner ever walks into the showroom. That’s why the Tracker Classic was the first ready-to-fish bass boat on the marketplace. And Morris did it at a bargain price. Today he’s introduced the new Tracker Classic XL, a 16-foot-8-inch bass boat with a 50 hp Mercury ELT outboard, an electric trolling motor, and a custom matching trailer all rigged up and ready to hitch to your truck or car and go to the water and fish. The 50 hp Mercury ELT outboard motor maxes out the horsepower and, in our opinion, is the optimal amount for this fun little boat. The Tracker Classic XL comes with a lifetime hull warranty. It features bucket folding seats, swivel pedestal seats, livewells, tackle storage, a rod locker, and easy access to all the plumbing and pumps on board through hatches. There’s also an aft casting deck and a sonar chart plotter at the helm. It’s as big a bargain today as it was 50 years ago.

10 dead games that have the best chance for a comeback in 2024.

Even with a disastrous launch, it is sometimes possible for a game that flopped to come back from the dead with enough dedication and passion.

  • Games like Cyberpunk 2077 and No Man's Sky have shown that hard work and community feedback can turn around disastrous launches.
  • Initial launches can make or break a game's success, but continued communication with fans and hard work by developers can lead to redemption.
  • Games like Overwatch 2 , Skull and Bones , and Diablo 4 are examples of titles that are working to improve content and address player feedback to make a comeback.

Over the past few years, there have been a few examples of video games with disastrous launches managing to make a comeback after putting in a lot of work and listening to the feedback of the gaming community. Games like Cyberpunk 2077 and No Man's Sky are examples of this, where, after a disappointing release, the developers did not give up and were able to turn things around and craft incredible experiences. Now, these games are known not only for their success story but are incredibly popular and fun forms of entertainment.

For most games, suffering setbacks from glitches, server overloads, or other issues at the initial launch of a game can prove to be an insurmountable problem. These first few days and weeks can make or break a game's success , particularly because the time when a game hits the market is when the most excitement is. Yet, in some cases, developers can take the feedback gained during these struggling starts and, with hard work and clear communication with fans, turn the game into a success after all. The following are games that could still turn things around in the next few months.

Overwatch 2 was struggling before it even reached its release date, with years of delays and many large issues behind the scenes at Blizzard going on throughout its development. As the original Overwatch game was a massive success, the sequel had a lot of potential, but ultimately kept dropping aspects that were originally announced and simply did not have enough content available at launch. The free-to-play game is not giving up quietly, however, with the development team planning to continue to add content in addition to its regular nine-week seasons .

Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League has a good cast of characters, a promising story, and more going for it, but ultimately failed to become what players were hoping for. In Screen Rant 's review of Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League , it is noted that the combat felt underwhelming and the ending of the game was a bit disjointed. The development team at Rocksteady has said it is working on creating a larger, proper ending, more difficult missions, new weapons, and even more playable characters for the game, including Joker, who is scheduled to arrive on March 28, 2024.

Joker Is Coming To Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League, But It’ll Already Be Too Late

8 redfall (arkane studios, 2023), repetitive gameplay & not enough playable characters.

The premise of shooting vampires and human cultists in Redfall was one that many looked forward to for quite some time before the official release of the game on May 2, 2023, but ultimately many players felt let down by the experience. There are many multiplayer co-op shooters on the market currently, which meant that to stand out, Redfall needed to have a lot more variation and enemies to stand out . Developers at Arkane have stated that they are going to continue working on the game to improve things, but they haven't provided a clear look at what is coming or when.

7 Skull And Bones (Ubisoft, 2024)

Promised premium content could solve issues.

Skull and Bones offers a beautiful stylized look at pirate games with a lot going for it, but its recent launch suffered from feeling as though the game wasn't completed. It has been criticized as having long loading times, poor character models with little customization, and too much of a focus on microtransactions and live-service aspects. The game is said to have many plans for content to be added and is frequently applying updates, which could create a much better experience for players in time.

Skull and Bones Review: "This Boat Is Visibly Sinking"

6 multiversus (player first games, 2024), expected to make a comeback in a big way this may.

Developers for the WB brawling game MultiVersus have already proven they are giving the game everything they can to make it a success. When MultiVersus launched in open beta, it initially was met with a lot of excitement but quickly began to receive a lot of negative feedback from players. Rather than simply releasing the game, or leaving it in an infinite early access period, the game was pulled from servers in June 2023 so that the team could give it a complete overhaul.

Using the feedback they had gotten, developers rebuilt the game using a new engine, updated netcode, and more to make it better and will release it in full on May 28, 2024 , as a free-to-play game with live-service elements. In their dev blogs, the team says they will continue to pay close attention to responses from players and have said they will continue to make adjustments.

5 Payday 3 (Starbreeze Studios, 2023)

Server overloads, but positive communication from developers.

Despite having many features that could make the game a fun experience, Payday 3 suffered one of the worst launches of 2023 , particularly from the server issues the online-only game faced. This caused many players to not even be able to get past the opening menus and lobbies to see what the game had to offer, and then if they made it in, they saw glitched character movements and frequent crashes.

This caused a lot of frustrated players to post negative reviews, but devs at Starbreeze have been listening to players, and have been making plans to improve the game based on the feedback received, as was stated on the Payday website's News page recently:

In order to turn your feedback into action, we’ve put together a strike team of veteran developers from the design, community, communication and production teams with the focus on bringing PAYDAY 3 up to where it will meet your expectations.

Payday 3 has also released a roadmap of future updates and DLC plans that will continue to address some of the feedback that the community has given on the current state of the game.

4 Nightingale (Inflexion Games, 2024)

Early access title with a chance to change.

Like MultiVersus , Nightingale is in a good position to be able to hear what the community is saying and make significant changes before the game releases in full. Currently, Nightingale is an Early Access title on Steam, and although the open-world survival crafting game has many good qualities, it has more to do to become a true success.

"The presentation and implementation of how people are introduced to these concepts need to be done in a more engaging way, one that's paced out better so people can get to the more interesting portions of the title, like more interesting enemy creatures, elaborate lore, and magic-infused weapons and gear. If this can be accomplished, then Nightingale may shed its lukewarm initial reception." - Screen Rant 's Nightingale preview

Nightingale does not have a full release date planned yet, which gives developers time to make changes to the game based on the information they are getting from players during Early Access.

3 Ark: Survival Ascended (Studio Wildcard, 2023)

Technical problems & crashes are hurting the game.

Ark: Survival Ascended has received many negative reviews since its Steam Early Access release in October 2023, with most issues being related to technical problems. The remastered version of 2015's Ark: Survival Evolved has had server issues disconnecting players, frequent bugs and glitches, game crashes, and more that have rendered it nearly unplayable for many . Hopefully, as it is still in Early Access, these technical problems will have time to be ironed out before a full launch.

2 diablo 4 (blizzard entertainment, 2023), a good foundation that needs much more work.

As part of the franchise that was among the first true dungeon-crawling experiences, Diablo 4 had a big legacy to live up to and ultimately did not meet expectations for players at launch. The ARPG received criticism for not offering enough story, character options that don't feel exciting, and a railroaded skill tree that does not allow for enough customization.

Over the months since launch, developers at Blizzard have tried to be very receptive to the feedback they are getting and have been making many significant changes that are added in with each new season of content. Regular Campfire Chat livestreams with devs have also helped to give a transparent feeling of communication with the players. If this level of improvement and discussion continues, eventually Diablo 4 could still have a comeback.

Could Diablo 4's Newest Season Save The Game From Total Disaster?

1 cities: skylines 2 (colossal order, 2023), performance-heavy requirements led to serious technical issues.

Cities: Skylines 2 is in the best spot to truly make a comeback in 2024 after a disastrous launch in 2023. Developers for the game were perhaps a bit too ambitious in designing this intricate city-planning game that features many complex details, leading to performance issues because of the amount of processing power needed to run the game.

Immediately upon getting feedback, Paradox Interactive and Colossal Order directly addressed the issues and pulled back all other projects to focus on making a roadmap of fixes and updates for Cities: Skylines 2 . Already there has been a noticeable difference, with many more major patches on the horizon. If it continues to be handled correctly, Cities: Skylines 2 has the foundation laid to easily make one of the biggest comebacks in video game releases, similar to the turnarounds seen with Cyberpunk 2077 and No Man's Sky .
