Went for wedding. 4 stars for setting. Venue was gorgeous on the water. Food was decent - but Im not sure if event was catered or not. Service was great. All around beautiful event at a great location.

Spare yourself and your wedding dreams and DO NOT BOOK THIS VENUE! We spent 13 grand here and worked on planning the wedding for 2 years with Sharon , the wedding coordinator . The day of our wedding she was a no show and some guy named Bill showed up who we never met before and was nothing but extremely loud obnoxious and rude . Our specialty drink we paid extra for was missing, a food dish was missing and appetizers weren't served to us like they were supposed to be after the ceremony . We arrived around noon and not one single time did did any employee there even ask if we needed any drinks at all. Nobody set up the room like they were supposed to so my entire family set everything up themselves , while I was alone upstairs the entire morning before the wedding. I will never forget how horrible of a wedding experience I ended up having because of how horrible this place is ran . They'll tell you yes to everything and get you excited just to disregard everything when the day arrives . Cheesecake was supposed to be served at the end of the night also which wasn't and when when we asked why they said just because you aren't getting it now . Back to the loud unprofessional guy bill, he yelled at the end of the night that my wedding was over almost an hour before the actual ending time . Half of my guest left before this was corrected . Also wouldn't allow the dj to play music loud enough because the trailer home residents . Another thing never mentioned . My heart aches when ever I think about how bad they screwed up all that we had planned , paid and hoped for . Also nobody directed guests as they were arriving and everyone was clueless as to where they were supposed to go / do. We ended up coming back for a meeting because clearly we were highly upset and definitely deserved money back to an extent but go figure the head person of the yacht club is Sharon's husband and he laughed in our faces . I'll forever be devastated that my wedding experience will always remain this .

WEDDING VENUE REVIEW - Hadn't thought much about the events leading up to our wedding, since we got married. My mother in-law and wife dealt directly with the contact (I believe her name was Deb). From all accounts, Deb was helpful and Pleasant. Once the venue was paid for an outside caterer, Ben, who you must use if you book your wedding there, runs it. I flew in town on specific dates to see the venue and do a tasting. Ben had told my wife to just call the day before we wanted to come and it wouldn't be a problem. She calls and he was rude and could not accommodate the next day. I called and tried to relate, since I work in hospitality. Ben was rude, unprofessional and at one point angrily stated, "you can come pick up your check, I don't need your business". Well, If we weren't a month away from our wedding, that's exactly what we would have done. He finally stated that we could do a tasting the day after we were trying for. When we went for the tasting, Ben never met with us, only his daughter who was absolutely professional, polite and served us terrific food. She apologized for the interaction I had with her father which was nice, but should have come from Ben. The venue is beautiful. That much I can attest to. The day of the wedding was good. Ben, although not dressed for the occasion (polo and black wk out style pants), served good, hot food, was professional, but again, never mentioned the issue. We only had one problem with the food. it was buffet and after only 1 trip per guest, Ben and his staff broke down the food stations and were heading out. They did not ask if anyone wanted seconds or speak to any of us, just started packing up. My mother in-law asked Ben what was happening. His only response, "I thought you were finished". After it was over, we were cleaning up and a random guy came in who we had never seen before, and started yelling for us to hurry up. He even turned off the lights. My mother in-law got to him before me. All in all, I would not recommend this venue. Not treated well.

Eastern Yacht Club

The Eastern Yacht Club was founded in 1870. Throughout its history “the Eastern” has consistently pursued its mission of “encouraging yacht building and naval architecture and the cultivation of nautical science.” Yachts flying Eastern colors successfully defended the America’s Cup three times in the mid-1880’s. Its interest in the America’s Cup continued into the 20th century, when Eastern members built J-Boats and 12-Metres in hopes of defending the America’s Cup; and Eastern members sailed on a number of 12-Metres that successfully defended the Cup. Eastern members have built and owned numerous offshore racing boats that have successfully competed in local and international races. Members have also won world and national championships in a number of classes.

Stories from Eastern Yacht Club

In 1870, twelve Boston gentlemen organized themselves as the Eastern Yacht Club, a club dedicated to the promotion of yachting. Within one month, they had enrolled 110 members with 23 yachts. The Clubhouse on Marblehead Neck was completed in 1881.

From the beginning, the Club became a leader in yacht racing with Puritan, Mayflower, and Volunteer , all flying Eastern colors, successfully defeating their British challengers in the America’s Cup in 1885, 1886, and 1887, respectively. The Eastern has hosted a multitude of local, national, and international sailing events from the Sonder class regattas that preceded WWI to the competitive one-design and PHRF races of today, including the Etchells Worlds, Star Worlds, IOD Worlds, Olympic Class Regattas, Viper 640 North Americans, Sonar North Americans, Shields Nationals, and the Soling North Americans, a preliminary race for the ’96 Olympics. In 1994, the club received the coveted St. Petersburg Trophy, awarded for the Race Committee’s outstanding management of the Star North Americans.

Eastern’s Race Committee is active throughout the summer and is recognized as one of the very best in the country. Throughout the clubhouse you will find paintings, photographs, trophies and models that mark the history of America yachting from the glorious days of huge racing yachts to the present day streamline one-designs. The club’s model room contains over 65 half-models of historic and modern yachts. Additional half models and many stunning full models are displayed throughout the Club.

A visit to the Eastern is a walk through yachting history, from the glorious days of the huge racing yachts to the present-day streamlined one-designs -130 years of yachting history. Throughout the Clubhouse, you can find trophies and medals marking the Club’s illustrious history as well.

Directions   From I-95 or Rte 40, take I-695 east to towards Essex to Rte 702. Follow Rte 702 to Turkey Point Road (approx. 1.5 miles past Old Eastern Avenue). Turn left off Rte 702 on to Turkey Point Road. At the 4-way stop, cross over Back River Neck Road staying on Turkey Point Road for approx 1.8 miles to Seneca Road.  Proceed down Seneca Road as it lands you directly in Eastern Yacht Club.

Satellite Parking

Satellite parking is available at Chesapeake High School at 1801 Turkey Point Rd, Essex, MD 21221.  B uses will transfer attendees from the high school parking lot to the event.

Bus schedule runs from 12:30 - 8:30 PM as a complimentary service for our attendees.

For those who may come by boat our Longitude: 76°25'91"W Latitude: 39°18'12"N. As you approach the mouth of Middle River we are off your port side directly across from Bowley's Condo Marina.
