Hi Everyone, 🙂

I am reviewing 3 Fenty Beauty Matchstix today. One is from their matte range (Truffle) and two from the shimmer (Ridiiic and Yacht Lyfe).

My Experience with Fenty Beauty Ridiiic, Truffle, Yacht Lyfe Match Stix:

Packaging:  These are magnetic sticks. I end up playing with them. 😛 Soo soo cool. They have this gorgeous beige pink twist-up stick packaging. The individual sticks close with a satisfying click but they stick to each other; one of the coolest packaged products I’d say. 🙂

Ridiic: It’s a gorgeous orangey red color with gold micro shimmers. It’s the kind of shade that adds life to your face even on most full days. It’s very pigmented and just a few dabs of color were good enough to give that beautiful flush to the skin. It’s an universally great shade for all skin tones, but especially an excellent one for those with medium to dusky skin. It is not overly creamy,which gives it a long lasting power. Once you blend it it almost looks like you have used a powder blush.

There’s just a light glow to the skin without the ‘creaminess’ of the cream blush. And it sets. the golden flacks give a little glow to the skin without being glittery. it does not accentuates the pores. It’s amazingly long lasting as well. I have worn it for good 7-8 hours and the beautiful flush of color was still on my cheeks. It doe snot pick up foundation from underneath. I found the best way to use this was to dab it on the skin and then blend it with finger tips. Don’t swipe. It is my favourite of the 3 shades. I do wish it was a tad bit creamy; however, it does not accentuate any dry patches. I just felt the application could have been more ‘luxurious’. In all honestly, I am nit-picking because I bloody hell can’t stop using it because I know it looks good and it lasts long. 😀

Yacht Lyfe: The moment I saw this shade, it reminded me of the infamous NARS Orgasm blush. It’s a pale pinky peach shade with strong gold sheen. It totally doubles up as a gorgeous highlighter without being “in-the-face” kind of highlight. The formula is not very creamy but enough to apply and blend. I found that applying this with fingertips and blending away was the best way to use it.

Since this is quite a light color, when I applied it with foundation underneath, it left my stick a bit dirty. So, I either quickly dab the stick on the skin and wipe the tube surface afterwards with a tissue or just apply and blend with my fingertip. It does not accentuate my pores. I love that it adds a little flushing glow to my skin because it’s such a beautiful blend of color and highlight. Yacht Lyfe stays on for good 7 hours on my skin and that’s the longest I wore. There was still a flush of color and a soft glow on my cheeks. Again, I wish it were a bit creamier than it is, but again, no complaints. These would be the best kind of cream blushes to use in summer considering their texture.

Truffle: Truffle belongs to the matte category of the Match Stix skin sticks. It’s a dark cool-toned brown color meant for contouring, and I love it! I intentionally picked up quite a darker shade because sometimes the shades close to your skin tone just don’t create enough contour and they pretty much become seamless with your skin tone after you blend them out. Truffle is like a bang-on color for me.

The only thing I find is that because it is so chubby, I have to work with it from the side of the tube and rather be careful while using it. I think among the three, this is getting the most love from me these days. It has made me fall in love with cream contouring all over again. It blends well both with Beauty Blender  and a brush. It’s a cream-to-powder formula so you don’t necessarily have to go on top with it with powder to set it because it sets on its own. For a very long night, I’d go over it with a bronzing powder, but for good 6-7 hours, I don’t need to. It creates a perfect shadow on the skin without fading for hours. It does get dirty when you use it on top of the foundation, I just wipe it clean with a tissue. It does not move the foundation underneath. It’s not the creamiest product out there and honestly, I am okay with it. It stays and looks good. I did not find it accentuating dry patches, but then, when I use a product of this capacity, my skin is all well prepped and foundation(ed) 😛 Definitely give it a go. Lovee it!

Overall, I am so happy with these matchstixs. I loved the colors I picked up. I love that they are not super creamy because that gives them a super long lasting power and considering the melting heat we have in Delhi, I could use that. I dread using cream blushes in summers and these I can’t wait to use. All the 3 colors are very pigmented and work well for my skin. If you like very creamy products, you’d probably not be a fan of these, but I love them. Even Mr. Husband compliments me every time I use them. 😀 I have used all three products in my makeup look here.

Vladimir Putin is rounding up illegal migrants in Russia  to fuel his bloody invasion of Ukraine, just days after four Tajik nationals were charged over the Crocus terror attack in Moscow, with migrant groups left fearing bloody retaliation.

Paddy wagons sporting the National Guard insignia arrived at a vast online shopping warehouse in Elektrostal, Moscow today, where thousands of migrant workers were reportedly forced to show their documents.

Checks were carried out by armed and masked Russian guards and military enlistment officers, before at least 40 people were hauled away from the Wildberries warehouse.

More operations in kind are said to be planned, as Putin seeks more cannon fodder for his ongoing war in Ukraine.

It comes just days after the Crocus City Hall atrocity, which led to the deaths of at least 140 people after gunmen stormed a packed concert venue in the capital and indiscriminately targeted civilians before setting the building on fire.

A number of men from Tajikistan have since been detained in connection to the attacks, which have been claimed by jihadist group Islamic State. 

Friday's horror attack has been linked to a rise in tensions, with the BBC today reporting an increase in beatings and racism aimed at Central Asian migrants - and the embassy of Tajikistan in Russia warning citizens not to leave their homes unless necessary.

Critics fear the atrocity in Moscow last week is already leading to discriminatory behaviour towards migrants living in Russia

Some of the migrants detained today will reportedly face the choice of jail or expulsion - or fighting in Ukraine for Russia.

Migrants who have been granted Russian citizenship also express fears they may be called up.

'They check who is on the side of the military, and who is evading,' one said. 'Those who evade can be taken away against their will.'

'Whoever resists is beaten with sticks by the riot police,' said another worker.

A further 38 employees of the warehouse will undergo additional checks with law enforcement to 'clarify' information gathered already, the Wildberries company told state-owned news agency RIA.

It came a day after Putin spoke on the urgency of bringing the 'migration sphere ... under control' at a meeting with the board of the Prosecutor General's Office, RIA noted.

Putin reportedly ordered that measures be handled 'professionally and competently' to 'facilitate the adoption of legal, informed and fair decisions'.

Still, critics fear the atrocity in Moscow last week is already leading to discriminatory behaviour towards migrants living in Russia.

In Novgorod region, it has been prohibited to hire foreign workers in the transport sector.

State Duma deputy Dmitry Gusev has also called for a complete 'audit' of all labour migrants living in the country - as well as those who have recently received Russian citizenship.

In Moscow, a 29-year-old woman from Yakutia was surrounded by a hostile mob on the metro and subjected to vile racist abuse. 

'Get the **** out of here,' she was told - even though she is a Russian citizen.

The group reportedly ally with neo-Nazi Maxim Martsinkevich, nicknamed Tesak, meaning Machete, who died from 'asphyxia' in a Russian jail in 2020.

The scared woman said: 'It was 6.30 pm. I was waiting for the train… Very young guys…came up to me.

'One of them, the most active one, took a metal bat out of his jacket and showed me.

'They surrounded me and began to humiliate me… They called me names from the platform based on my nationality and appearance.'

She said no-one came to her aid.

Two of those threatening her were detained today and face questioning.

On Telegram, migrants from Tajikistan have shared messages expressing fears the community in Russia will suffer for the Crocus attack, as reported by the BBC.

Sharing their concern over retributive attacks, one said: 'Please, God, let [the attackers] be Ukrainian instead.'

Russia's Federal Security Service, or the FSB, said it had arrested 11 people the day after the attack, including four suspected gunmen.

Moscow's Basmanny District Court identified the four suspects behind the attack as Dalerdzhon Mirzoyev, 32; Saidakrami Rachabalizoda, 30; Shamsidin Fariduni, 25; and Mukhammadsobir Faizov, 19. 

The four men, identified as Tajik nationals, appeared in a Moscow court on Sunday on terrorism charges and showed signs of severe beatings.

One appeared to be barely conscious during the hearing.

The men were charged with committing a group terrorist attack resulting in the death of others. The offence carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.

They were all ordered to be held in pre-trial custody until May 22.

Mirzoyev and Rachabalizoda admitted guilt after being charged, according to AP, citing court officials.

So far, 140 people have died and the death toll is expected to rise

The terrorists who carried out the attack have all been detained and charged with terrorism

All four of them have been beaten and tortured by Russian security forces

While Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the attack, President Vladimir Putin has said the four men were arrested while trying to flee to Ukraine.

Kyiv denies any connection to the attack.

Putin has made no reference to ISIS' claims.

US intelligence also said after the attack it had information confirming ISIS was responsible for the attack.

Yesterday, head of Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) Alexander Bortnikov bizarrely pinned blame on the United States, Britain and Ukraine.

Speaking after the meeting with the board of the Prosecutor General's Office, he was asked whether the US, Britain and Ukraine were behind the terrorist attack, according to Russian news agency TASS .

'We believe that this is true. In any case, we are now talking about the factual information we have. This is general information, but they have a long record of this sort.'

'What is [Ukraine] expected to do to demonstrate its capability? It is expected to carry out sabotage and terrorist acts in the rear,' he continued.

'This is what both the chiefs of Ukraine's special services and the British special services are aiming at. US special services have repeatedly mentioned this, too.'

The Crocus Concert Hall was attacked by armed gunmen on March 22, when terrorists opened fire on civilians and set the auditorium on fire in Russia's deadliest attack in 20 years.

According to the latest data, 140 people have been confirmed dead as a result of the attack, the most recent dying in hospital today.

A total of 80 people injured in the attack remain hospitalized, the official added, and 205 others have sought outpatient medical assistance.

The Moscow Times reported today as many as 360 had been injured in the attack.

Three days before the attack, Putin denounced the U.S. Embassy's March 7 notice urging Americans to avoid crowds in Moscow , including concerts, calling it an attempt to frighten Russians and 'blackmail' the Kremlin ahead of the presidential election.

After Britain echoed the notice, Kremlin mouthpieces accused both of 'complicity' if terrorists did hit Moscow.

ISIS' news agency Amaq released sickening a 90-second selfie video of the attack that is too graphic for MailOnline to share

The news of a terror warning on March 7 came only hours after the FSB claimed to have thwarted an ISIS plot to slaughter Jews in a Moscow synagogue.

It was unclear whether the events are linked.

According to the FSB, a large cache of weapons and bomb parts were found during a raid on an Islamic State cell in Kaluga, southwest of the capital.

Russian state media reported militants had been gearing up to shoot Jewish worshippers at a synagogue in the capital before security officials stormed the premises and gunned them down.

'While being arrested, the terrorists put up armed resistance to the Russian FSB officers, and as a result were neutralised by return fire,' the Russian state-owned TASS news agency quoted the security service as saying in a statement.

The Boat Trip: 4 Days by Ferry to Russia's North

I am sitting alone on a rickety bunk in my cabin, and through the glass of the porthole I am watching the smooth surface of the Yenisei. The Krasnoyarsk-Dudinka route sets out along this great river at 5 a.m., and I am still unsure what watery demons I may meet on this lengthy four-day journey.

Most of my previous ventures involving water have been unsuccessful. I once got stuck on an ice floe in the middle of a lake, I lost my favorite tortoise on board a ferry, and I almost died of boredom while fishing. Any contact I have had with this element has been a torrent of disappointment. Add in seasickness and you understand why I prefer to see rivers, lakes and seas merely as a blue decoration to dry land.

I booked a ticket on the ferry Valery Chkalov pretty spontaneously. As my geography teacher used to say, the Yenisei is the seventh-largest river basin in the world. In the absurdly huge region of Krasnoyarsk, the river is the only thing connecting the extreme north with the southern plains. The northern deer herders called Yenisei the "great water," while the southern camel herders called it the "mighty river" — the idea is in essence the same.

Not far off from the city rises the majestic wall of the Krasnoyarsk dam. It is known to every inhabitant of Russia, immortalized on the 10-ruble banknote. Only birds can appreciate its scale in full — the dam breaks the river into two levels, with a distance of 120 meters in between. Ships on the Yenisei have to get into a kind of funicular, which carries the boats upward together with water under the keels, and then releases them at the top into open water. Although this technical innovation delights with its cunning, my main reason for coming here was an attraction named the vodosbros (water overflow): from the highest point of the dam to the river's surface below fall innumerable cubic meters of water. The streams of water turn into clouds of thick spray and electricity. I spent a few hours in amazement on the sandy bank of the Yenisei and after, totally spellbound, I went to the port.

The ferry runs once a week, but I got lucky — there was a ticket available in the two-berth 1st class on board the hundred-meter Valery Chkalov, and it cost around 16,000 rubles. "This is a transport ship, not a cruise liner, which costs around four times more, and only differs in that they say a little more on the radio and they stop for a little longer," said the old woman at the ticket desk. This animated stream of argument broke the last remnants of my resistance. I clambered up the gangway of the three-decker, whose scale was as nothing against the background of the great river, threw down my things in my cabin and went for a walk around nighttime Krasnoyarsk.

The following morning, to the cheerful sounds of "Farewell of Slavyanka" on the speaker, the ship cast off. For a couple of hours it crept under town bridges before sailing out into open water. The thin silhouettes of trees appeared through a dark blue veil of smoke. When we reached a narrow section, the Ataman pipe, the current strengthened and the landscape changed. Above the boat, gray jagged rock faces suddenly rose up, and the sky started to darken. Further along the course was one of the most dangerous sections of the great river, the Kazachinsky rapids.

Here it became obvious that the indigenous people of the area were not mistaken in their estimation of the nature of the Yenisei. The passage through the rapids only takes a few minutes but you could feel the tension in the air. The boats pass through a particularly treacherous part in an orderly line, and small vessels resort to the help of a special tow — a chain boat. We came across barges immediately after the Kazachinsky passage, which the Chkalov greeted with a deafening honk, in which the notes of relief were tangible. Beyond the Kazachinsky rapids, the ship sailed past peaceful but monotonous blue-and-green landscapes, which after a while began to irritate the eyes. Dusk descended and I returned to my cabin.

Relations with my neighbor, Vasily, a thick-set Siberian man with deep wrinkles around the eyes, were rapidly drying up along with my attraction to the Yenisei. "Where are you sailing to?" I asked. "Sh-- sails, ferries travel. To Turukhansk," came his reply. The following night Vasily's snoring added a steady rhythm section to the ceaseless drone of the Valery Chkalov's engines, and this duet decisively sank my hope of sleep. Vasily exuded the impression of an especially local man, who used the great river like a bus route, jumping from one coastal settlement to another with a trader's suitcase. It seemed that the majority of those on board were much the same. Eastern Siberia is not renowned for its splendid network of motorways — the roads end after Yeniseisk, a small ancient two-story town some 400 kilometers from Krasnoyarsk. The only non-aerial route across the remaining 900 kilometers to the Arctic Circle is the great river, along which the three-decker giant Chkalov, and its brother the Matrosov, have been calmly gliding since 1954.

The interior of the ship, incidentally, reflected the design aesthetics of its time. If Wes Anderson had chosen to make a film about a comic river adventure instead of "The Grand Budapest Hotel," his palette would have consisted entirely of brown and green.

A shower is located on each deck, however these only work for a few hours in the morning. In their free time, passengers can explore the treasures of the reading salon, with its prerequisite list of Russian classics. They can play chess, or simply go around observing the archival photographs of the Chkalov, hung in every available nook and cranny. For 70 years the brass and wooden rigging of the ship has stayed almost unchanged which makes it even stranger to come across modern GEC monitoring systems on board giving out all the information on the movements of the river.

Having tired of examining the various studies in brown, I went for a stroll on deck. The morning fog was starting to disperse and sharp slopes of rock faces were emerging through it.

We moored three times that day — in Vorogovo, Bor, and Bakhta. All of these villages were 400-500 years old, and none had changed much in that time. There were slanting beaches of yellow sand, the din of woodland groves and a moment of uproar from the waterfront market when our vessel pulled up to shore. A resident of Vorogovo told me that the villages survive from boat to boat.

The rare moments of animation on land again gave way to the measured passage of the vessel. I increasingly stayed at the stern of the boat, and the dusk smoothly changed its color. The reflection of the boundless sky in the waters of the Yenisei was becoming stronger, and the open space gradually merged into one color. All of a sudden the signal buoys lit up in the soft purple haze.

"Buoy keepers used to light them by hand with kerosene, but now they are automatic." I hadn't noticed the figure of Vasily creep up on me, but he didn't comprehend my questioning look. "My father was a buoy keeper on one of the sections, he knew the riverbed like the back of his hand. He even used to drive the ship in the dark if the captain didn't want to."

The reflection of the boundless sky in the water was becoming stronger, and the open space gradually merged into one color. All of a sudden the signal buoys lit up in the soft purple haze.

At once Vasily started to narrate all the legends of the great river. He told me about how in the war years, workers had restored the Ob-Yenisei canal, without which the supply of nickel for the tanks would have been impossible. He told me about the Korablik island and its companion the Barochka. He told me about the Petkin rocks, named in honor of the unsuccessful maneuver of a boatswain called Petkin, whose boat subsequently sunk. And he told about how they had wanted to somehow destroy the Kazachinsky rapids, but were too fearful.

The ember of a cigarette lit up the face of this river man, who was almost invisible in the darkness, but he was looking somewhere below, into the depths of the river, which had been a lifetime companion for him, his father and countless generations before them. Siberians casually name the river batyushka (father).

"Well anyway, student, see you. And remember, matters of the sea are science, matters of the river — that's art."

Vasily glanced over the side and descended to the motor launch — the further north we went, the fewer moorings there were. The motorboat disappeared into the night with a hum.

The last days of my journey passed under a canopy of leaden clouds. The river was becoming wider — in certain parts the distance between banks was some 15 kilometers. Land was almost out of sight.

We sailed past the wooden houses of Turukhansk a long while after the disappearance of Vasily. At this point we were already being greeted by dirty, two-meter high, unmelted ice floes, broken off by the powerful movement of the ice drift when the Yenisei shook off its dumbfounding winter shell and began to rush back to the ocean. The breath of the north is keenly felt here — the sky hangs lower, and in place of sharp banks and rustling trees, gloomy pebbles, watery sand and the slanting saplings of the forest tundra. Ahead is the region of Igarka inside the Arctic Circle, and the final stop — the polar port of Dudinka. The place looks exactly as I envisaged it — concrete blocks of buildings, cracked from the frost; huge shipping cranes; a scattering of heavy-duty trucks.

I went out onto the higher deck to meet the setting of the lingering sun, which in the northern summer never sets. The piercing orange light glinted off the handrail, distorted by snowdrifts; it flooded over the wooden planks of the decking; it illuminated our faces. The whole world around was saturated in rosy gold.
