The Insiders Guide to Sausalito

Presidio Yacht Club Travis Marina Bar (Mike’s Place), Sausalito

679 Sommerville Rd., Fort Baker, Sausalito CA 94965 Phone 415-332-2319

Neighborhood:   Fort Baker and the GGNRA .  Website is  here . Free parking in lot.

Presidio Yacht Club Travis Marina Bar – Mike’s Place

. Located inside the Presidio Yacht Club, which is located on the shore of Horseshoe Cove in Fort Baker in the GGNRA on the southern edge of Sausalito,

The Travis Marina Bar is often referred to as Mike’s Place. Mike is no longer working there, but the restaurant has great views of the Golden Gate Bridge and serves dinners as well as having a full bar. Many nights feature live music.

. This is a “secret” spot frequented by locals and by visitors from San Francisco who discovered it by accident and now keep coming back. On Thursdays at 5:00 PM, Maria Perrin cooks a home-made meal.

Something else that people should know about Mike’s Place?  Are you relieved that Mike’s Place, not Davey Jones Deli , is located on a pier where sailors depart for the sea? Disagree with any of our suggestions?  Please let us know!

The best restaurants in Sausalito, California for a waterfront lunch with friends, a romantic date night, or anything in between.

Sausalito, California is the charming town on the other side of the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco.

With hordes of hungry tourists pouring off the ferry and jumping off bikes every day, Sausalito is accustomed to serving up sustenance with style.

And just because Sausalito looks like a town on the Italian Riviera with astonishing views of the bay from almost every bar and restaurant, don’t assume you’re walking into a tourist trap.

In Sausalito, you can enjoy the view and great quality food without compromise.

You may also assume the best food in town is seafood, due to its position overlooking the water, but again, you’d be wrong.

Sausalito restaurants cater to all palates, from quality Mexican taquerias to comforting All-American breakfast fare. Of course, the fresh seafood served from waterfront restaurants looking out to San Francisco is top-notch, too.

So, whether you’re hoping to spend a romantic evening cozying up by a fire pit, looking for a vegan wrap to fuel your Marin hike , or you’re just here for the fish tacos, this is our round-up of Sausalito’s hottest spots and local favorites.

Yep, this place is simply named Hamburgers .

There are always lines out the door for this burger joint, which cooks everything to order on a giant rotary grill. The burgers are juicy and satisfying and the fries are hot and crisp.

There’s limited seating indoors, but I prefer heading across the road to the little Plaza Viña Del Mar Park or finding a bench on the waterfront to eat with a view. Just watch out for the seagulls, they’re super sneaky and also love burgers!

Hamburgers is located near the ferry terminal in downtown Sausalito, so just follow your nose to the tiny storefront. No reservations are required, just turn up and wait.

Copita Tequileria y Comida

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Copita Tequileria y Comida (@copitasausalito)

Address : 739 Bridgeway, Sausalito, CA 94965 Phone number : (415) 331-7400 Cuisine : Mexican Best for : Lunch

Copita Tequileria y Comida is Mexican food done right with fresh, balanced flavors. The real star of the show though is the extensive tequila menu, with over 100 different types behind the bar.

Copita Tequileria y Comida was created by celebrity chef Joanne Weir and Larry Mindel, who has enjoyed a successful 40-year career in California’s restaurant industry.

Their popular Sausalito Mexican restaurant is open daily for lunch, dinner, and brunch (on weekends).

The small plates here are ideal to pair with a few cocktails, tapas-style. The refreshing margaritas are a welcome thirst-quencher if you’ve just cycled across the Golden Gate Bridge.

If you’re hungry, one of the slow-cooked enchiladas or carnitas is perfect on a chilly Sausalito evening. All their organic tortillas are handmade and there’s an extensive taco menu.

In addition to indoor seating, there’s a heated patio for outdoor dining or you can take a seat at the bar.

Make a reservation here , or if you prefer to get food to-go, take-out cocktail to-go-kits are available in addition to your order. Oh, and Copita Tequileria is 100% gluten-free!

View this post on Instagram A post shared by SUSHI RAN (@sushiran)

Address : 107 Caledonia Street Sausalito, CA Phone number : (415) 332-3620 Cuisine : Japanese Best for : Lunch and dinner

Sausalito’s top-rated Japanese-California fusion restaurant, Sushi Ran , serves delicious sushi sourced either locally or from the best Tokyo markets.

The slivers of jewel-colored fish are so beautifully presented that you’ll be whipping out your phone at every course.

Given the innovative cuisine and modern interior, you might think this is a brand new enterprise, but surprise – Sushi Ran has been one of the best places to eat in Sausalito for 33 years!

It’s also the only restaurant in Sausalito to get a mention in the Michelin Guide, and it’s regularly mentioned in round-up lists of the best sushi restaurants in California.

A sushi or sashimi plate is a good move, paired with sake from the extensive wine list, but the dumplings are pretty good too.

Currently, there’s no sitting at the sushi bar but there are a few tables indoors and more seating outside on the cozy patio.

Walk-ins are accepted, but be sure to make a reservation on a weekend night.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Bar Bocce (@barbocce)

Address : 1250 Bridgeway, Sausalito, CA 94965 Phone number : (415) 331-0555 Cuisine : Italian Best for : Lunch and dinner

Hang out with friends on a sunny day with a beer and a game of bocce ball at this popular waterfront restaurant in Sausalito.

Bar Bocce is located right on the beach with superb views over Richardson Bay.

Beachside benches serve as an overflow when the covered patio area gets too crowded on a weekend, or many drinkers simply find themselves a spot on the warm sand.

The Italian-inspired menu has some great small bites that go well with a cold one, like the crispy artichokes and marinated olives.

Make sure to save some space for dessert though, especially the warm vanilla bread pudding, which is perfect to ward off a chilly evening.

On the drinks menu, wine is a popular beverage but their signature sangria pairs perfectly with a sunny afternoon on the sand.

If you’re hoping to impress someone, take your date to Bar Bocce as the sun goes down and cozy up by the fire pit to watch the sunset over the harbor.

You can share a crispy sourdough pizza and watch the sailboats glide by, just try not to get too competitive on the bocce court.

Bar Bocce doesn’t take reservations, this is a first-come-first-served kind of place. And be warned, spaces by the fire pit disappear quickly on a Saturday night.

Fred’s Coffee Shop

View this post on Instagram A post shared by madelana (@itscalledbalance)

Address : 1917 Bridgeway, Sausalito, CA 94965 Contact info : (415) 332-4575 Cuisine : American Best for : Breakfast and brunch

Head to longtime locals favorite, Fred’s Coffee Shop for the best breakfast in Sausalito before your Marin County adventures. Expect delicious food, friendly service, and plenty of coffee.

Fred’s signature dishes are the deep-fried French toast, the sweet Millionaire’s bacon, and eggs benedict.

Inside the restaurant, communal tables add to the cozy family vibe or you can sit at the counter. You can also ask for outdoor seating on the street and watch the world go by.

This restaurant is primarily a breakfast spot and there are lines out the door on a weekend morning.

If you’re here for lunch, however, you should try the open-faced smoked salmon sandwich or turkey mozzarella sandwich.

And if Fred’s is too busy, try Lighthouse Café instead, which is also a local favorite and competes for the title of best brunch in Sausalito.

Scoma’s Sausalito

Scoma's Sausalito

Address : 588 Bridgeway, Sausalito, CA 94965 Phone number : (415) 332-9551 Cuisine : Italian, seafood Best for : Lunch and dinner

If you’re looking for the best seafood in Sausalito, Scoma’s should be on your radar.

Scoma’s is one of the top Sausalito waterfront restaurants, with incredible food and outstanding views of Angel Island and the bay.

Scoma’s serves fresh, seasonal seafood dishes with flair. If Dungeness crab is in season, Scoma’s is the place to try this local specialty. The clam chowder is highly-rated too.

The restaurant’s Sicilian roots are apparent in many of the dishes, but the chef draws inspiration from across Pacific cuisines to create a Pacific-Mediterranean fusion.

The spectacular location and great food are a killer combination for a special occasion celebration or romantic evening. As a result, you’ll find it tough to get a table – especially one with a view – without a reservation.

Call or make a reservation on the website ahead of time to guarantee your table.

Local tip: If you’re headed there for lunch and concerned about the fog obscuring the view, check the nearby Sausalito Yacht Club webcam to see if the skies have cleared.

Lappert’s Ice Cream

Lappert's Ice Cream

Address : 689 Bridgeway, Sausalito, California CA 94965 Phone number : (415) 331-3035 Cuisine : Dessert Best for : Anytime

Walter Lappert always felt he could improve on the locally-made ice cream he sold in his small Sausalito shop. He also had a dream to move to Kauai, Hawaii one day.

He managed to achieve both ambitions by opening an ice cream factory in Hawaii, then importing his unique tropical flavors back to his California store.

Lappert’s Ice Cream is now famous in Hawaii, and the Sausalito store has evolved into the US mainland Lappert’s, run by the next generation and distinct from the original Hawaiian company.

Expect creative combinations and a smooth, creamy texture from the ice cream.

The classic flavors of cookies and cream and vanilla are represented, but the best scoops are still the Hawaiian-inspired ones.

Most notably, you should try Kauai Pie (coffee ice cream with chocolate fudge, coconut flakes, and macadamia nuts), Manila Mango, or Hawaiian Sea Salt Caramel.

Once you have a scoop (or two), you can stroll around downtown Sausalito with your sweet treat. If ice cream isn’t your thing, order a delicious Kona coffee instead.

Davey Jones Deli

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Marin Food Stalking (@marin_food_stalking)

Address : Inside the bait shop, 1 Gate 6 Rd., Sausalito 94965 Phone number : (415) 331-2282 Cuisine : Sandwiches and wraps Best for : Lunch

Davey Jones Deli , located in a mini-mart, is the best place in Sausalito to grab a hearty sandwich for your epic mountain/forest/beach hike.

The deli sources all of its organic produce as locally as possible and makes as much as possible in-house, including roasting the meat and making sauces from scratch.

The result is that the sandwich concoctions are incredibly fresh, creative, and generous, with each half individually wrapped so you can easily share.

The mango-chipotle coleslaw with pulled pork is one of the biggest draws, but the vegan wrap has also won fans, with fresh organic berries and crunchy salad.

Whether you go for a meat or all-veggie option, these sandwiches are guaranteed to fuel all your outdoor adventures or just make for a really tasty lunch.

There’s nowhere to sit and eat here, but there are plenty of sunny spots to sit in Sausalito and beyond. If you’re in a hurry, you can phone in an order or pick up something from the grab-and-go case.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Angelino Restaurant (@angelino_restaurant)

Address : 621 Bridgeway, Sausalito, California 94965 Contact info : (415) 331-5225 Cuisine : Italian, seafood Best for : Lunch and dinner

Angelino is an old-school Italian waterfront restaurant serving classic seafood dishes like linguine and clams, as well as slightly more exotic fare like grilled octopus salad.

Multiple generations of the Ancona family have built up the restaurant’s reputation for delicious food and a cozy atmosphere.

The menu showcases dishes from the Campania region of Italy, with handmade pasta as a specialty. The seafood dishes are excellent but the thin, crispy pizza always impresses as well if you’re not in the mood for fish.

Angelino’s is perfect for a family meal or a romantic dinner date since the casual vibe is welcoming to everyone.

And not only is the food and service excellent, but the views out to San Francisco are beautiful. Be sure to make a reservation ahead of time, as this is a popular eatery.

Check out the pop-up pastry bar at the back, the latest family endeavor, which has proved very popular with locals. Flaky croissants, buttery brioche, and fruit-filled galettes are the perfect breakfast treat or reward for your day of hiking or sightseeing.

Once the bakery closes, the pastry chef heads back to the kitchen to prepare desserts for the dinner service. This bakery is rapidly gaining a solid reputation in Sausalito, so save room for a sweet treat after your meal.

Barrel House Tavern

Barrel House Tavern

Address : 660 Bridgeway, Sausalito, CA 94965 Phone number : (415) 729-9593 Cuisine : Californian Best for : Lunch and dinner

The wall of windows and first-floor location make Barrel House Tavern one of the best restaurants in Sausalito with a view of the bay.

Despite the open feel of the restaurant, the curved ceiling clad in warm wood (like the inside of a barrel) keeps things cozy.

Barrel House Tavern is in the former historic ferry terminal, from before the Golden Gate Bridge connecting San Francisco to Sausalito was built. A recent remodel retained the traditional style while bringing a modern touch.

Walk-ins can usually be accommodated, but you can also make a reservation .

As with most Sausalito waterfront restaurants, the menu features seafood, including oysters fresh from the clear waters of nearby Tomales Bay and the ubiquitous clam chowder, but don’t sleep on the wood oven chicken sandwich or the garlic parm fries. Maybe order both to be on the safe side.

Aside from food, Barrel House Tavern has a long menu of creative cocktails and a good wine list. Helpful bartenders can assist you in navigating the choices.

And non-drinkers have a cool option to combine several soda flavors into one drink for a unique beverage. Bacon, cherry, vanilla, anyone?

Kitti’s Place

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Kitti’s Place – Sausalito (@kittisplace)

Address : 3001 Bridgeway, Sausalito, CA 94965 Phone number : (415) 331-0390 Cuisine : Thai Best for : Lunch

Kitti’s Place , located further away from the ferry terminal in the northern part of town, takes a little more effort to find but is well worth the trek. You’ll find a warm welcome and Thai comfort food cooked to perfection.

This neighborhood gem is a real mom-and-pop operation – Payao is the chef, her husband Kitti sources the fresh ingredients, while the daughter Lisa works front-of-house.

Kitti’s Place has been in business for 25 years, and their loyal regulars are on a first-name basis with the family.

The fresh and crispy lettuce cups are a popular order, along with the Pad Thai. Currently, Kitti’s Place is only open during the week for one of the best lunches in Sausalito, and take-out in the evenings.

Outdoor dining is available on the heated patio and no reservations are necessary.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Joinery (@joinerysausalito)

Address : 300 Turney St., Sausalito, CA 94965 Phone number : (415) 766-8999 Cuisine : American Best for : Lunch

Joinery is a rotisserie and beer hall on Sausalito’s downtown waterfront.

This is a great place to meet friends (or make new ones), with a fun, convivial atmosphere. Long tables encourage socializing, as does the excellent selection of craft beers served at the bar.

The free-range, organic chicken comes as a half or a whole, with plenty of sides available. Make the healthy choice with sauteed rainbow chard, or not-so-healthy with an order of Dirty Fries, which involves garlic and pork crackling.

If you’ve cycled all the way across the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco, this is the spot to refuel with a hearty meal and a reviving drink or two.

Joinery embraces the spirit of al fresco dining and is totally open to the outside. This means it can get a little chilly during the winter, but Sausalito has a mild climate and most days the sunshine keeps everyone toasty.

Joinery is pet-friendly with outdoor seating and child-friendly with a kids menu. No reservations are required.

Salito’s Crab House

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Salito’s Crab House (@salitoscrabhouse)

Address : 1200 Bridgeway, Sausalito, CA 94965 Contact info : (415) 331-3226 Cuisine : American Best for : Lunch and dinner

Salito’s Crab House has undergone a few changes over the years but remains a Sausalito institution. The family-friendly surf and turf restaurant serves up great food with an expansive view over the sparkling waters of Richardson Bay.

Whole-roasted Dungeness crab is the signature dish but the menu offers plenty of choices. Choose from oysters, mussels, shrimp, and fish, or go for a juicy prime rib if you’re not feeling the seafood.

Although primarily a meat-eaters kind of place, the hearty salads are a fresh and satisfying alternative as well. In fact, some of the best items on the menu are non-meat, such as the house-made kettle bread and the sweet beignets.

Salito’s welcomes walk-ins, but make a reservation if you don’t want to wait. Dogs are allowed if you opt for outdoor seating on the sunny patio.

And unlike most other restaurants in town, there’s a free parking lot available at the front.

Seafood Peddler

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Destination Sausalito (@destinationsausalito)

Address : 303 Johnson St., Sausalito, CA Phone number : (415) 332-1492 Cuisine : American Best for : Lunch and dinner

Seafood Peddler is a restaurant and fish market serving seafood from near and far. The view of the bay is interrupted by the parking lot, but the pretty garden patio provides a sunny spot to enjoy outdoor dining.

For the freshest of dinners, check out the Maine lobster or Dungeness crab tanks. The menu varies depending on what’s fresh and in season, but expect Italian-influenced dishes with ethically-sourced ingredients.

Seafood Peddler also has a popular Happy Hour between 4 and 7 pm every night, which includes food if you sit at the bar. Or, you can make yourself a home-cooked meal by choosing from the selection at the fish market.

Make a reservation to guarantee a table, although walk-ins can usually be accommodated.

Murray Circle

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Cavallo Point Lodge (@cavallopoint)

Address : 601 Murray Circle, Fort Baker, Sausalito, CA 94965 Phone number : (415) 339-4751 Cuisine : American Best for : Breakfast, lunch, and dinner

Murray Circle serves modern Northern California cuisine in an elegant dining room, with arguably the best view of the Golden Gate Bridge in the Bay Area.

The restaurant is located in Cavallo Point, a Marin hotel that was formerly the Fort Baker barracks.

Elevated comfort food is the theme, with ingredients found locally. Seafood and steak are on the menu, but also some great vegetarian dishes that showcase the region’s fresh produce.

Inside, the dining room is warmed up by a fireplace, while the patio with outdoor seating catches the sunshine and offers incredible views of the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco beyond.

Note that advance reservations are required to dine at Murray Circle.

The hotel also regularly holds cooking classes, which is a great way to work up an appetite for your meal.

Or you can make a weekend of it and stay in one of the luxurious rooms. Cavallo Point is known as a wellness retreat and has an on-site spa.

How to Get From San Francisco to Sausalito

How to Get From San Francisco to Sausalito

There are several ways to get from San Francisco to Sausalito: by ferry, car, bus, bicycle, or walking.

My preferred route is the ferry. You’ll get stunning views of both bridges, Alcatraz Island, San Francisco, and the hills of Marin as you sail across the San Francisco Bay.

Ferries depart daily from the Ferry Building on San Francisco’s Embarcadero, or Pier 39, and the crossing takes about 30 minutes.

A popular alternative is to cycle across the Golden Gate Bridge, then return on the ferry.

It’s best to cycle from San Francisco to Sausalito rather than the other way around because there is a big hill and it’s nice to get a gravity assist after all that cycling.

A super easy way to do this is to take a bicycle tour from Fisherman’s Wharf. You’ll get a bicycle, helmet, map, and a guide to take you on a leisurely ride across the bridge.

Pedestrians can also walk across the Golden Gate Bridge. It’s a long hike but with some incredible views.

Driving is also an option. There’s a toll to cross the bridge, which you’ll need to pay on the return to San Francisco . Free parking is available on many of the streets in Sausalito, just check for parking meters or “resident only” signs.

And if you’re driving, before heading to the downtown Sausalito restaurants, make a quick stop to take a photo of the bridge from the Marin side with San Francisco in the background. Take the first left onto Conzelman Rd. and pull over where you see parked cars.

If you’re on public transit, take the 130 bus from the Salesforce Transit Center in downtown San Francisco over the Golden Gate Bridge to the heart of Sausalito.

What Food is Sausalito Known for?

What Food is Sausalito Known for?

The town is best known for seafood, but there’s much more to Sausalito than clam chowder.

Sausalito is happily located near some of the best agricultural regions of California, and as a result, restaurants are able to source many of their ingredients from local producers.

The clean, cold waters of nearby Tomales Bay produce some of the finest oysters in California, while the fog-bound pastures of Point Reyes nurture herds of content dairy cows.

The legendary vineyards of Napa Valley and Sonoma are in neighboring counties as well for top-notch wine.

If you’re stopping by Sausalito in the winter, Dungeness Crab is a famous Northern California delicacy served all over Sausalito when it’s in season.

If you’re looking for a vegetarian meal, Murray Circle has some great entrees, with everything sourced from local, organic farms.

Kitti’s Place also has a lot of good vegetarian options on the menu, with tofu as a protein option for most of the meals.

Davey Jones Deli offers a highly-rated vegan wrap if you’re after a takeout, with vegetarians and carnivores alike praising the lunchtime staple.

For a gluten-free option, try Copita Tequileria y Comida in downtown Sausalito where the menu is 100% gluten-free. This is also the restaurant to go to if you’re after the best fish tacos in Sausalito.

With such diverse offerings, it’s hard to pick a standout restaurant.

In fact, as you can probably gather from this article, the best food in Sausalito can be found all over town, from hole-in-the-wall hamburger joints to chic waterfront restaurants. You really can’t go wrong.

Closed for a private party with no notice on website again. The location is great, but they have a history of booking for private parties, and there is no notice on their web site. They don't answer the phone so you can't call, either.

Not what you expect and that is a good thing. I thought I was lost when I drove up to the unassuming building sitting practically underneath the Golden Gate Bridge. Once inside I could tell this was going to be a fun event. The setting was funky, the people funkier, and the entertainment was all that and more. Somehow they were able to manage to fit a decent size group of people and still have space for my set up. All in all a wonderful experience and I hope to have an opportunity to return. Funky

Talk about "off the beaten path." But totally worth the trek. Came here recently for a friend's birthday. I've long heard of this place from my older/hippier Marin friends. They all swear by this joint. From what I had heard, I was expecting more of a dive bar. But this place (once you find it) is a legit music/bar/party venue. Plus, it boasts some pretty spectacular Golden Gate Bridge views (you're almost stone's throwing distance from the bridge). On the night we came, they happened to have a fireworks show around Pier 39. So we went on to the Presidio Yacht Club's deck and watched the whole thing. We pretty much had the best seats in the Bay Area. Around 7:30pm, an old-school rock band started cranking out the tunes. I saw a few folks hit the dance floor. It was def a lively scene. While I had a fun time time, there were a few things that I wasn't crazy about... 1) The drinks were WAY over-priced. I order two Makers Marks on the rocks and it cost me $28. That's even expensive by San Francisco standards. 2) While they do accept credit cards, they only accept cash gratuity (so make sure you visit the ATM before you get there). 3) Their food offerings are fairly limited and unimpressive. I saw a few pizzas come out of the kitchen that were clearly microwaved frozen pizzas. 4) Not all Uber drivers like making the trek out here (given its off-the-beaten-path location). I had two drivers in a row cancel on me. But if you're looking for a fun, funky venue for a Friday/Saturday night (and maybe get your groove on), I would highly recommend paying the Presidio Yacht Club a visit.

This is a special place for us and so we decided to get married here. We reached out, chatted by email and phone with the event coordinator, Louis and then make an appointment to sign the paperwork. We come. Louis is nowhere to be found. We waite. An hour. We get agitated. Finally someone shows up, not Louis. That person pages him. He calls him. We call him. Nothing. So the guy who showed up saya he will try to help us. He didn't have a calendar for the following year. He noted on a post-it our date, took the deposit and printed out contract. Louis was still not there. A few months later. We want to change the date. We email Louis. He says, "possibly. Call me on Monday at 4." We call, no answer. For the duration of the month, we keep calling, a few times per week, emailing and we get zero response. We feel completely unconfident that the wedding is actually happening. So we call one last time and we cancel. Now, they keep our deposit and are here to mess up another couple's wedding on that same date next year. Stay away

We just stopped here after a trip to the Bay Area Discovery Museum. What a hidden gem! Highly recommend if you're looking for a place to grab lunch and a beer but is also super kid friendly. It's been raining for weeks and our kids (and us) needed to get out of our 900sq foot apartment. We hit up the Discovery Museum in the morning and needed to grab lunch before heading home when we stumbled upon the Yacht Club. They had a huge empty dance floor the kids could play on without hurting themselves or disrupting other patrons, large bay windows with a beautiful view of The Golden Gate Bridge, and a cozy couch in the back. They had a decent selection of kid friendly food (burgers, hot dogs, grilled cheese) and beers for the adults. I have to admit our kids were on the energetic side which is stressful for any parent (did I mention it's been raining for weeks) but the bartender and manager were super understanding and mentioned they too have kids! This was so refreshing. So many places aren't kid friendly and as a parent it can be hard to go anywhere without feeling like you have to constantly apologize. I would highly recommend this place to any parent who wants to maintain some semblance of a grown up life with afternoon beer in a place you can just let kids be kids.

The best experience I could have ever had! We had our wedding in August here and it was a dream, everyone took great care of us and answered all of our questions. Two words: the view. You will thank yourselves for the gorgeous backdrop in all of your photos! Just a fun, funky, original space for someone with creative ideas. The nice part was we could bring in all our own vendors, no cake cutting fees, or other dumb fees, with exception of a bar as they do have an awesome full bar upstairs (btw the lighting in the bar makes for really great photos no extra lighting necessary!). We did bring our own wine for dinner, with a corkage fee (that was it though!). I promise you, Louie and Miguel will not disappoint! All our guests said they had a great time. We used the beautiful turquoise boathouse for the dinner portion as we had around 140 guests but many more could fit in there if needed. 13/10 would throw a wedding there again!

Great Views from the small patio area. There is space inside for nightly music, but I have only been here in the afternoon during bike rides and walks around the area. Kid and Dog friendly during the afternoon time. Stop in and have a drink!

At the pre-party for our New Year's Eve celebration, my guy friend (clarification: not my bf) popped a champagne cork into his eye :( Not being able to come to the party, he really missed out. The Presidio Yacht Club is MUCH more fun than the ER...! Our friends chartered a yellow school bus to take 50 of us up to the gorgeous Presidio Yacht Club (just on the other side of the Golden Gate Bridge). When we arrived, we spent several minutes taking pictures of the the gorgeous bay view before entering the party. They cleverly decorated the already very neat space of the club. Even better, the drinks were REASONABLE! Beers were $3.50 - $5.50, cocktails were $6, etc. We only had one bartender, Bree, but she was super sweet and efficient. She even let me design my own shots with vodka, Bailey's, and Kahlua. We enjoyed the tables set at the perfect height for gazing at the Golden Gate Bridge and the little dance floor in the middle with fun tunes. I would love to plan another party here or come on a random night as it is a blast!

Editorials | Editorial: Sausalito should prioritize building maintenance proposal

Lunch is served at the Spinnaker restaurant in Sausalito on Thursday, June 3, 2021. (Sherry LaVars/Marin Independent Journal)

Sausalito is getting ready to do some housekeeping.

The city is planning to conduct a full review of the condition and needs of the 110 properties – large, small and some underwater – that it owns. Those properties range from municipal parking lots to the city-owned firehouses.

In addition, the bayfront city owns numerous piers and docks, some leased for private businesses and some part of parks.

When it comes to buildings, delayed repairs often turn into bigger, more expensive jobs.

Having a plan in place to keep these buildings, the public’s assets, in good repair is both wise and responsible.

The analysis, which could cost $115,000, is supposed to detail both short- and long-term maintenance needs.

Among the properties that are leased by the city are the Spinnaker restaurant and the Sausalito Yacht Club, both bayfront landmarks supported by pile foundations over the bay. They are subject to tidal action, loss of shoreline and other possible ramifications of climate change.

Mayor Ian Sobieski underscored the need for the review, noting that the city properties have “a lot of deferred infrastructure maintenance.”

City Manager Chris Zapata’s assessment is that Sausalito “has aging buildings that have been neglected.”

In recent years, the city has conducted similar assessments of its streets and sewers.

The proposal is the city’s recent look at the energy systems of its buildings and will be factored into the assessment.

Staying on top of keeping properties in safe and sound condition means budgeting money for keeping them in good repair rather than having to spend a lot more to fix crises.

Just ask Novato, where the city-owned Community House, the large one-time hub in the heart of the city, has been shuttered for nearly 20 years after the city and fire district inspectors deemed the century-old building unsafe.

Other cities and public agencies have faced similar dilemmas. In some cases, they have had to go to local taxpayers to pass capital bonds to renovate and repair their buildings.

The details that come from the review may be far beyond Sausalito’s budget constraints, but that knowledge is important for setting prudent priorities and making progress toward staying on top of repairs rather than being dictated by safety concerns or bringing them to up-to-date building codes.

When it comes to docks and piers, the analysis would look into the effects of climate change and sea level rise. City officials are already looking into getting grants to address needed repairs.

The council deserves credit for planning to move forward with a comprehensive assessment. It is City Hall living up to its responsibility as the landlord and steward of these public assets.

This prudent assessment may find out things it doesn’t want to hear, but there is a time-tested likelihood that the cost of continued benign neglect may be worse.

The Comprehensive Guide to Moscow Nightlife

  • Posted on April 14, 2018 July 26, 2018
  • by Kings of Russia
  • 8 minute read

sausalito yacht club restaurant

Moscow’s nightlife scene is thriving, and arguably one of the best the world has to offer – top-notch Russian women, coupled with a never-ending list of venues, Moscow has a little bit of something for everyone’s taste. Moscow nightlife is not for the faint of heart – and if you’re coming, you better be ready to go Friday and Saturday night into the early morning.

This comprehensive guide to Moscow nightlife will run you through the nuts and bolts of all you need to know about Moscow’s nightclubs and give you a solid blueprint to operate with during your time in Moscow.

What you need to know before hitting Moscow nightclubs

Prices in moscow nightlife.

Before you head out and start gaming all the sexy Moscow girls , we have to talk money first. Bring plenty because in Moscow you can never bring a big enough bankroll. Remember, you’re the man so making a fuzz of not paying a drink here or there will not go down well.

Luckily most Moscow clubs don’t do cover fees. Some electro clubs will charge 15-20$, depending on their lineup. There’s the odd club with a minimum spend of 20-30$, which you’ll drop on drinks easily. By and large, you can scope out the venues for free, which is a big plus.

Bottle service is a great deal in Moscow. At top-tier clubs, it starts at 1,000$. That’ll go a long way with premium vodka at 250$, especially if you have three or four guys chipping in. Not to mention that it’s a massive status boost for getting girls, especially at high-end clubs.

Without bottle service, you should estimate a budget of 100-150$ per night. That is if you drink a lot and hit the top clubs with the hottest girls. Scale down for less alcohol and more basic places.

Dress code & Face control

Door policy in Moscow is called “face control” and it’s always the guy behind the two gorillas that gives the green light if you’re in or out.

In Moscow nightlife there’s only one rule when it comes to dress codes:

You can never be underdressed.

People dress A LOT sharper than, say, in the US and that goes for both sexes. For high-end clubs, you definitely want to roll with a sharp blazer and a pocket square, not to mention dress shoes in tip-top condition. Those are the minimum requirements to level the playing field vis a vis with other sharply dressed guys that have a lot more money than you do. Unless you plan to hit explicit electro or underground clubs, which have their own dress code, you are always on the money with that style.

Getting in a Moscow club isn’t as hard as it seems: dress sharp, speak English at the door and look like you’re in the mood to spend all that money that you supposedly have (even if you don’t). That will open almost any door in Moscow’s nightlife for you.

Types of Moscow Nightclubs

In Moscow there are four types of clubs with the accompanying female clientele:

High-end clubs:

These are often crossovers between restaurants and clubs with lots of tables and very little space to dance. Heavy accent on bottle service most of the time but you can work the room from the bar as well. The hottest and most expensive girls in Moscow go there. Bring deep pockets and lots of self-confidence and you have a shot at swooping them.

Regular Mid-level clubs:

They probably resemble more what you’re used to in a nightclub: big dancefloors, stages and more space to roam around. Bottle service will make you stand out more but you can also do well without. You can find all types of girls but most will be in the 6-8 range. Your targets should always be the girls drinking and ideally in pairs. It’s impossible not to swoop if your game is at least half-decent.

Basic clubs/dive bars:

Usually spots with very cheap booze and lax face control. If you’re dressed too sharp and speak no Russian, you might attract the wrong type of attention so be vigilant. If you know the local scene you can swoop 6s and 7s almost at will. Usually students and girls from the suburbs.

Electro/underground clubs:

Home of the hipsters and creatives. Parties there don’t mean meeting girls and getting drunk but doing pills and spacing out to the music. Lots of attractive hipster girls if that is your niche. That is its own scene with a different dress code as well.

sausalito yacht club restaurant

What time to go out in Moscow

Moscow nightlife starts late. Don’t show up at bars and preparty spots before 11pm because you’ll feel fairly alone. Peak time is between 1am and 3am. That is also the time of Moscow nightlife’s biggest nuisance: concerts by artists you won’t know and who only distract your girls from drinking and being gamed. From 4am to 6am the regular clubs are emptying out but plenty of people, women included, still hit up one of the many afterparty clubs. Those last till well past 10am.

As far as days go: Fridays and Saturdays are peak days. Thursday is an OK day, all other days are fairly weak and you have to know the right venues.

The Ultimate Moscow Nightclub List

Short disclaimer: I didn’t add basic and electro clubs since you’re coming for the girls, not for the music. This list will give you more options than you’ll be able to handle on a weekend.

Preparty – start here at 11PM

Classic restaurant club with lots of tables and a smallish bar and dancefloor. Come here between 11pm and 12am when the concert is over and they start with the actual party. Even early in the night tons of sexy women here, who lean slightly older (25 and up).

The second floor of the Ugolek restaurant is an extra bar with dim lights and house music tunes. Very small and cozy with a slight hipster vibe but generally draws plenty of attractive women too. A bit slower vibe than Valenok.

Very cool, spread-out venue that has a modern library theme. Not always full with people but when it is, it’s brimming with top-tier women. Slow vibe here and better for grabbing contacts and moving on.

sausalito yacht club restaurant

High-end: err on the side of being too early rather than too late because of face control.

Secret Room

Probably the top venue at the moment in Moscow . Very small but wildly popular club, which is crammed with tables but always packed. They do parties on Thursdays and Sundays as well. This club has a hip-hop/high-end theme, meaning most girls are gold diggers, IG models, and tattooed hip hop chicks. Very unfavorable logistics because there is almost no room no move inside the club but the party vibe makes it worth it. Strict face control.

Close to Secret Room and with a much more favorable and spacious three-part layout. This place attracts very hot women but also lots of ball busters and fakes that will leave you blue-balled. Come early because after 4am it starts getting empty fast. Electronic music.

A slightly kitsch restaurant club that plays Russian pop and is full of gold diggers, semi-pros, and men from the Caucasus republics. Thursday is the strongest night but that dynamic might be changing since Secret Room opened its doors. You can swoop here but it will be a struggle.

sausalito yacht club restaurant

Mid-level: your sweet spot in terms of ease and attractiveness of girls for an average budget.

Started going downwards in 2018 due to lax face control and this might get even worse with the World Cup. In terms of layout one of the best Moscow nightclubs because it’s very big and bottle service gives you a good edge here. Still attracts lots of cute girls with loose morals but plenty of provincial girls (and guys) as well. Swooping is fairly easy here.

I haven’t been at this place in over a year, ever since it started becoming ground zero for drunken teenagers. Similar clientele to Icon but less chic, younger and drunker. Decent mainstream music that attracts plenty of tourists. Girls are easy here as well.

Sort of a Coyote Ugly (the real one in Moscow sucks) with party music and lots of drunken people licking each others’ faces. Very entertaining with the right amount of alcohol and very easy to pull in there. Don’t think about staying sober in here, you’ll hate it.

Artel Bessonitsa/Shakti Terrace

Electronic music club that is sort of a high-end place with an underground clientele and located between the teenager clubs Icon and Gipsy. Very good music but a bit all over the place with their vibe and their branding. You can swoop almost any type of girl here from high-heeled beauty to coked-up hipsters, provided they’re not too sober.

sausalito yacht club restaurant

Afterparty: if by 5AM  you haven’t pulled, it’s time to move here.

Best afterparty spot in terms of trying to get girls. Pretty much no one is sober in there and savage gorilla game goes a long way. Lots of very hot and slutty-looking girls but it can be hard to tell apart who is looking for dick and who is just on drugs but not interested. If by 9-10am you haven’t pulled, it is probably better to surrender.

The hipster alternative for afterparties, where even more drugs are in play. Plenty of attractive girls there but you have to know how to work this type of club. A nicer atmosphere and better music but if you’re desperate to pull, you’ll probably go to Miks.

Weekday jokers: if you’re on the hunt for some sexy Russian girls during the week, here are two tips to make your life easier.

Chesterfield

Ladies night on Wednesdays means this place gets pretty packed with smashed teenagers and 6s and 7s. Don’t pull out the three-piece suit in here because it’s a “simpler” crowd. Definitely your best shot on Wednesdays.

If you haven’t pulled at Chesterfield, you can throw a Hail Mary and hit up Garage’s Black Music Wednesdays. Fills up really late but there are some cute Black Music groupies in here. Very small club. Thursday through Saturday they do afterparties and you have an excellent shot and swooping girls that are probably high.

Shishas Sferum

This is pretty much your only shot on Mondays and Tuesdays because they offer free or almost free drinks for women. A fairly low-class club where you should watch your drinks. As always the case in Moscow, there will be cute girls here on any day of the week but it’s nowhere near as good as on the weekend.

sausalito yacht club restaurant

In a nutshell, that is all you need to know about where to meet Moscow girls in nightlife. There are tons of options, and it all depends on what best fits your style, based on the type of girls that you’re looking for.
