Luxury yacht ARENA (ex Vision, Najati) is the first hull in the Pershing 9X series and was launched in 2013 with naval architecture and exterior styling from Fulvio de Simoni. She is based on the same 28.14m/92ft hull as the Pershing 92, which produced more than a dozen hulls. The accommodation sleeps a maximum of nine guests over five cabins with a crew of three on-hand for expert service.

The main deck aft contains a sofa/sunbed along the stern with easy access to the deep swim platform on the lower deck. Under the main deck cockpit, there is an L-shaped sofa to starboard with a raised table and additional free-standing chairs for alfresco dining in the shade. The foredeck has a broad sunbed in front of the bridge as well as a broad sofa and aft-facing curving sofa around a drinks table.

Up, on the sundeck guests can enjoy the best views on board while relaxing on the C-shaped sofa along the stern, or resting on the central sun pads.

The lower deck contains the tender garage and engine room aft of the crew accommodation amidships, leaving the forward half of the lower deck for the guest accommodation.

On the main deck directly behind the helm station is the formal dining area, seating up to eight guests in modern comfort while extensive glazing on all four sides creates a brightly lit environment.

ARENA Specifications

The aft interior section contains a C-shaped sofa along the starboard side and opposite a widescreen TV is concealed within the cabinetry.

Her engines produce a top speed of 41 knots with an equally impressive cruising speed of 38 knots. 

Yacht Accommodation

The accommodation sleeps a maximum of 9 people over 4 en-suite cabins: 1 Master suite amidships, 1 forward VIP stateroom, 1 port-side double cabin and 1 twin cabin with a Pullman berth. The crew of 3 will provide an efficient and discreet service for all guests and visitors throughout their time on board.

The 27.96m/91'9" open yacht 'Arena' (ex. Scissortail II) was built by Pershing in Italy at their Mondolfo shipyard. This luxury vessel's exterior design is the work of Fulvio de Simoni.

Arena has been designed to comfortably accommodate up to 8 guests in 4 suites comprising one VIP cabin. She is also capable of carrying up to 4 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience.

Range & Performance

Arena is built with a GRP hull and GRP superstructure, with teak decks. Powered by twin diesel MTU (16V 2000 M96L) 2,638hp engines, she comfortably cruises at 35 knots, reaches a maximum speed of 40 knots with a range of up to 385 nautical miles from her 9,001 litre fuel tanks at 35 knots. Her low draft of 1.65m/5'5" makes her primed for accessing shallow areas and cruising close to the shorelines. Her water tanks store around 1,200 Litres of fresh water. She was built to RINA (Registro Italiano Navale) classification society rules.

Verification of Death:

In order to publish obituaries a name and phone number of funeral home/cremation society is required. We must contact the funeral home/cremation society handling the arrangements during their business hours to verify the death. If the body of the deceased has been donated to the University of Minnesota Anatomy Bequest Program, or a similar program, their phone number is required for verification.

Please allow enough time to contact them especially during their limited weekend hours.

A death certificate is also acceptable for this purpose but only one of these two options are necessary.

Guestbook and Outside Websites:

We are not allowed to reference other media sources with a guestbook or an obituary placed elsewhere when placing an obituary in print and online. We may place a website for a funeral home or a family email for contact instead; contact us with any questions regarding this matter.

Obituary Process:

Once your submission is completed, we will fax or email a proof for review prior to publication in the newspaper. This proof includes price and days the notice is scheduled to appear.

Please review the proof carefully. We must be notified of errors or changes before the notice appears in the Pioneer Press based on each day’s deadlines.

After publication, we will not be responsible for errors that may occur after final proofing.

Music and concerts, subscriber only, music and concerts | what to know if you’re headed to the minnesota yacht club festival, gwen stefani, alanis morissette and red hot chili peppers are headlining.

Headlined by Gwen Stefani, Alanis Morissette and Red Hot Chili Peppers, the festival (which despite its name has nothing to do with yacht rock) is promoted by C3 Presents, an Austin, Texas, company that’s also behind Austin City Limits Music Festival, Voodoo Music + Arts Experience and the modern-day Lollapalooza. C3 was the largest independent promoter in the world until Live Nation bought a controlling stake in the company in 2014.

Organizers expect to attract more than 30,000 concertgoers each day.

While the Irish Fair of Minnesota calls Harriet Island home each August, music festivals have had a rough go on the site. The original Lollapalooza (back when it was a traveling festival) landed on the site in 1991, 1992 and 1994, but flooding forced the fest to move to the late St. Paul Civic Center in 1993.

Live Nation attempted to establish a new annual event, the River’s Edge Music Festival, in 2012. Despite big-name headliners Tool and the Dave Matthews Band, the festival didn’t attract enough paying customers to convince the concert promoting giant to return for a second year.

Here’s what folks headed to the Minnesota Yacht Club Festival need to know:

As of Wednesday afternoon, tickets were still available at a number of price points, starting at $135 for one day general admission (or $255 for two days) all the way up to platinum tickets for $925 ($1,395 for two days), which include a number of perks including free food and drinks, front-of-stage viewing and access to an air-conditioned lounge. Many of the general admission and general admission plus tickets are sold out, but there are verified resale tickets available, some at lower prices than face value.

Getting there

There are two entrances to the festival. The main entrance is at Harriet Island Boulevard and South Wabasha Street, while the west entrance is on West Water Street between Bidwell Street and Plato Boulevard.

There is no on-site parking at the festival, but its website lists numerous downtown St. Paul parking lots that are a 10- to 16-minute walk from the site. Several Metro Transit buses stop a half-mile from Harriet Island. The rideshare drop off is at 49 E. Fillmore Ave. The festival promises “ample bike parking” located near the two entrances.

What is allowed on site

Feel free to bring: Small clutch purses and fanny packs (6” x 9” or smaller) with no more than one pocket, all other bags must be clear and smaller than 12” x 6” x 12”, empty hydration packs and reusable water bottles, strollers, frisbees, binoculars, blankets, basic cameras (no detachable lenses or other accessories), sunscreen in non-aerosol containers (3.4 ounces or less), personal-sized hand sanitizer and factory sealed Naloxone/Narcan kits.

What isn’t allowed

Pretty much everything you would think, including outside food and beverage, coolers, aerosol containers, umbrellas, chairs, wagons, skateboards, drones, fireworks and illegal substances.

Concertgoers must wear securely fastened wristbands that are available at the box office. Wristbands can be activated online to add an emergency contact and to use for cashless transactions (with a pin number). Wristbands that are damaged, lost or stolen can be replaced by the original purchaser one time only for $20. Patrons can leave and reenter at will up until 7 p.m. each day.

There is a guest services tent that has earplugs and a lost and found. Free hydration stations are located throughout the site. Lockers are available to rent for $25 each day or $48.50 for both.

Who is playing

Friday’s schedule includes: Harbor and Home (12:45-1:15 p.m.), Gully Boys (1:15-2), Michigander (2-2:45), Morgan Wade (2:45-3:45), Durry (3:45-4:45), Joan Jett and the Blackhearts (4:45-5:45), The Head and the Heart (5:45-6:45), Gwen Stefani (6:45-8), the Black Crowes (8-9) and Alanis Morissette (9-10:30).

Saturday’s lineup includes: Nico Vega (1-1:30), Bugsy (1:30-2:15), Wilderado (2:15-3), Soul Asylum (3-4), Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue (4-5), Hippo Campus (5-6), the Hold Steady (6-7), the Offspring (7-8), Gary Clark Jr. (8-9) and Red Hot Chili Peppers (9-10:30).

UFC star Conor McGregor says Trump should be on yacht but is 'running for the love of his country'

U FC star Conor McGregor was among those who reacted to the attempted assassination of former President Trump on Saturday during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania.

McGregor wrote in a post on X that Trump should be on a yacht somewhere enjoying life instead of running for president, but he is "spitting out bullets."

"A 78 year old multiple billionaire he should be on a yacht on the med touring golf courses," McGregor wrote. "But he is not. He is in Pennsylvania spitting out bullets! Running for the love of his country! God speed Donald! God bless the United States."

McGregor’s post sparked a reaction from Michael Chandler. The two were set to fight at UFC 303 after a longstanding rivalry that culminated into them being coaches on "The Ultimate Fighter" series and exchanging words on social media. The fight was called off at the last minute.

"We stand united on this one…" he responded.

Chandler also posted two images from the campaign rally shooting, showing Trump on the ground being protected by Secret Service members and another showing the bloodied former president shouting "fight" to rallygoers in the immediate aftermath of the shooting.

UFC President Dana White, who is reportedly set to speak at the Republican National Convention, also offered praise of Trump.

"I’m on a plane right now flying to Italy and my phone has been blowing up with text messages from people informing me @realdonaldtrump was shot," White wrote on Instagram Saturday. "I am absolutely SICK to my stomach and in complete shock. I still don’t know how bad it is or if he’s ok. But @mickmaynard2 just sent me this picture and I’m praying President Trump is 100% healthy. 

"This image perfectly reflects EXACTLY the man I know Donald Trump to be. He is the toughest, most resilient, AMERICAN BAD A-- on this planet. I hope the weak coward that shot him gets what he deserves, and I can’t WAIT to stand up on stage with him on Thursday and introduce him at the Republican National Convention and tell the WORLD exactly the character of the friend and man I KNOW!!"

The would-be assassin was identified as Thomas Matthew Crooks, and a federal investigation was launched in the hours after the shooting.

McGregor, Chandler and White were far from the only sports figures who had Trump in their thoughts.

Evan Elder, a UFC fighter,  lent his thoughts  and prayers to Trump after his fight in Denver.

"I heard they just tried to whack my boy Trump. I'm glad that man is OK – long live Trump, let's go baby. Trump 2024!" he said after his victory to applause.

Tom Aspinall issues fiery response to Ciryl Gane over ducking accusations

Tom Aspinall doesn’t want to hear Ciryl Gane ’s excuses.

The two UFC heavyweights have been at odds with one another for years, but tensions recently escalated when Aspinall claimed that Gane was offered the chance to challenge for the Englishman’s interim heavyweight title on July 27 at UFC 304 but declined to instead film a movie. It didn’t take long for Gane to push back at Aspinall’s suggestions.

“He only accepts my fights when I cannot,” Gane said on a recent Twitch stream, captured by French outlet La Sueur . “He likes to say that I refuse him, but the truth is that I have already called him out on the networks. Now that he is above me in the rankings, he allows himself to say, ‘No, no, no, no.’ No problem, we’ll meet each other soon.”

Aspinall, 31, is instead set to defend his interim belt in a rematch against Curtis Blaydes in UFC 304’s co-main event, and he bristled at Gane’s words when asked on The MMA Hour .

“I don’t think that’s very accurate,” Aspinall said of Gane. “And I think what people need to understand is the UFC, and I’m sure Curtis is aware of this, the UFC didn’t want me to fight Curtis. They wanted me to fight Ciryl, and Ciryl didn’t want to. And I don’t know what’s going on with his schedule, I have no idea. The guy’s living his own life, he’s doing his acting thing. If that’s what makes him happy and that’s what he wants to do, I completely respect it. But let’s not act like you wanted to fight me, because it isn’t accurate.

“My schedule, my personal schedule, I’m trying to fight people. That’s what I’m trying to do. I’m trying to fight as many people as I can in a calendar year in the sport of MMA, and rack up as many wins and get as much money as I possibly can get while I’m still fighting. Now, that’s my goal. I ain’t interested in movies, I ain’t interested in whatever. I ain’t interested in cruising about on a yacht and going to this freaking party in Vegas and doing a movie and all this other stuff. I’m not interested in that. I’m interested in fighting people.

“So if [Gane said no] because of something else, like a movie or whatever, I don’t know, that’s not my problem. I’m ready to fight. I want to fight people. I’m here to get in the cage with four-ounce gloves on, with a shirt off, in an arena, fighting another top-level guy, and let’s see who the guy is in this next 25 minutes. That’s what really interests me. And if that doesn’t interest you, that’s fine. That’s fine, man. Do whatever the hell you want.”

Aspinall is currently MMA Fighting’s No. 1 ranked heavyweight in the world and No. 12 ranked pound-for-pound fighter . He is 7-1 under the UFC umbrella, having picked up destructive stoppage wins over ranked foes Sergei Pavlovich , Marcin Tybura , Alexander Volkov , Serghei Spivac , among others. Aspinall’s lone UFC loss came in a 15-second outing against Blaydes in 2022 that ended prematurely when Aspinall suffered a knee injury.

Aspinall previously accused Gane of turning down multiple fights against top contenders.

“He’s dismissed me on multiple occasions and I’m not the first guy he’s dismissed, I’m not the first guy that he’s ducked,” Aspinall told MMA Fighting in April . “It’s out there for people to see. The reason that I got the Pavlovich fight [at UFC 295 ] is because Ciryl didn’t want it. So he ducked Pavlovich, he then ducked Curtis Blaydes — Curtis Blaydes has been on record saying that. ... I asked for him years ago, [he] didn’t want it then. I then asked for him in Paris. They flew me over, we tried to make that fight, he didn’t want it then.”

Gane is currently set to face Alexander Volkov in a rematch on October 26 at UFC 308 .

Considering the history between Aspinall and Gane and the force the Englishman is up against in Blaydes, Aspinall isn’t wasting any more time worrying about Gane’s whims.

“What I want to do, me personally, for the next few years at least of my life, is I want to do that — I want to take my shirt off and stick some gloves on, not know who’s going to win, and let’s find out,” Aspinall said. “There’s me and you in this arena now, there’s 25,000 people watching it, there’s a referee between us, and there’s millions of people watching in the world — let’s find out now, right now, in front of these people. That’s what I’m interested in.

“What [Gane is] interested in, go and do it, bro — but let’s not act like you want to [fight me], because you don’t at the moment. Maybe we will in the future. That’s great. If we do, we’ll do it, absolutely. I want to fight anybody. I’ll fight anybody. But I was ready to fight. That’s all I’m saying. I was ready to fight him if he wanted it.”
