Most beautiful superyachts: 10 of the best as chosen by top designers

  • Superyachts

What turns a superyacht into a thing of beauty? We asked scores of the world's leading yacht designers to list the 10 most beautiful superyachts ever built...

The only rules were that they couldn’t pick one of their own and they had to be luxury superyachts over 30 metres. With the votes counted, we can now reveal our definitive rundown of the most beautiful yachts in the world.

We’ve even enlisted some of those same designers to explain what makes the final ten yachts so special. Scroll down to see the full top 10 and read more about each model.

10. Limitless

James Roy, managing director of BMT Nigel Gee believes her to be one of the most beautiful superyachts in the world and writes:

“One of the earlier breed of superyachts Limitless is in my opinion from a period when the volume of superstructures were not over imposing producing a well balanced yacht. These proportions coupled with the sheer line and well matched angles of bow profile and rake of superstructure ends all work together.”

most-beautiful-superyachts-skat

“It’s a great pleasure to pay tribute to an iconic thoroughbred such as Skat , still standing tall on the horizon,” says Tim Saunders of Rainsford Saunders Design. “Despite her military looks, this is a true superyacht, engineered as a ship at heart and built from the keel up, with every square metre fulfilling the owner’s brief. Skat is a unique design but has not broken traditional yachting rules for the sake of it.

She is a superyacht that has been devised to offer the owner a well-considered relationship between external and internal living spaces, and unlike many of her sisters, she doesn’t opt for maximum density. Skat ’s combination of poise, elegance and balance comes from a clever use of straight, angular lines, facetted surfaces and enhanced ship details.

Each component comes together in a harmonious relationship to offer a daring and bold statement that from a distance has the grace and elegance of something far more organic. She is a yacht that catches your eye from all angles.”

8. Alfa Nero

“When we first saw Alfa Nero we were impressed by her smooth exterior lines,” say Mareid Moosbrugger and Georg Decker of Egg and Dart Design. “The superstructure is sleek and elegant without any angular or hard corners. We consider her to be one of the most beautiful yachts afloat today, and we can easily understand why our colleagues agree.

“Walking around her at the 2007 Monaco Yacht Show , we felt the three-dimensional use of space was harmonious with the elements, and there was a true balance between the inside and outside areas of the yacht, with the exterior spaces maintaining a close connection with the natural environment of the sea and sky.

“The decks are open and airy, yet there is a feeling of being safely cocooned, and the superb aft deck in particular maintains a feeling of being at one with the ocean, which is emphasised by the huge pool. The yacht impressed us as a gentle giant: on the one hand huge, voluminous and technically advanced; on the other, stylish, glossy and surprisingly cosy.

“The beautiful interior features a timeless but modern design with elements of Art Deco, and everywhere you can see that the smallest details have been attended to. This yacht is a perfect combination of design, functionality and vision, and offers a unique ambience.”

Designer Reymond Langton says: “At the time of her creation, she was the largest yacht that we had signed and would be the largest the yard had built. The client is a very experienced yacht owner and for him to have put his trust in us when we had nothing of our own in the water at the time was a massive vote of confidence.

“He allowed us to be a little experimental with the design – this was the first large yacht with a plumb bow. It was fantastic to have landed another contract where we were able to design the exterior and interior as it gave us much more control over the whole project, and gave us the scope to really harmonise the spaces.

“It also allowed us to work hand in hand together, which we thoroughly enjoy and believe delivers the best results for the client. We think she stands out because she has a very striking profile that is easily recognisable from a distance.

“She has a lot of presence on the water due to her powerful lines. Anyone who has been on board will tell you that the high-volume interior feels incredibly luxurious.”

6. Carinthia VII

The Austrian supermarket heiress Heidi Horten replaced Carinthia VI (see below) with this very secret yacht rumoured to run at 26 knots. Voting her as his most beautiful yacht, Rupert Mann of Rainsford Mann Design said, “97m is a good length for a designer to work with, as it gives an opportunity to design longitudinally not vertically and therefore create an elegant yacht which appears low and sleek.

“What makes the design of Carinthia VII so successful is the enhancement of this due to the pure and elegant sheer line that draws your eye from the bow to stern so effortlessly. The clever trick of dropping the sheer line one deck down aft, gives it a dynamic and purposeful bow shape forward, as if carving its path with consummate ease.

The horizontal lines of the super structure are equally uncomplicated, in this instance resisting the addition of unnecessary detail such as fashion plates that often complicate a design. Ultimately I think the strength of the design manifests through its simplicity. It is the most successful of designs, which can be called a ‘timeless classic’.

“A design that will be successful in every genre modern or classic and in every decade, that even 7 years later still is relevant and pleasing to the eye. I would suspect it is this timeless styling and the sheer simplicity, coupled with the poise and balance of the whole composition, that is so appealing to so many of us.”

most-beautiful-superyachts-maltese-falcon

5. Maltese Falcon

The designer Ken Freivoch, responsible for the way this beautiful yacht looks says, “We are delighted that our fellow designers should have included Maltese Falcon within their shortlist. She was designed without any attempt to be ostentatious or to conform to a set style – it was very much a case of “form follows function”, albeit with very careful attention to essential design principles, balanced proportions and uncluttered and purposeful shapes totally derived from the function they are designed to perform.

The yacht is significant in her innovative sailing system, and our studio took this as a clue to develop the design around such technology, with every effort to develop beautiful and unique solutions aimed at highlighting her unique rig. I can only surmise that a reason why she may have been selected by designers is that she is not a “trendy” design, but the result of going back to first principles, coming out with original and unique solutions, and achieve continuity of concept through from the external styling to the interior design.

A case in point would be the design of the “spider” feature at the aft deck – originally the result of a last minute request from the naval architects to achieve optimum separation between the bearings at the mizzen mast, the announcement from Gerry Dijkstra came something like: “Hey Ken, if we had to place the top bearing for the aft mast 1m above the deck, in the middle of the aft deck – would that be a problem?

“Can you come up with a way to do this, which Tom will not object to? We took this as a clue to design an elegant and purposeful set of arches or buttresses to shore up the bearing in question, and at the same time underline what a unique “machine” the Falcon is – express such function very much along the lines of a watchmaker showing the inner workings of a beautifully crafted watch. Maltese Falcon was a great challenge, exactly the type of challenge that our design team relishes.

For us, the thrill, the excitement and the ultimate satisfaction is to come up with totally unique, “out-of-the-box” solutions, and achieve a design which the owner can feel was truly conceived and executed in response to his brief, to his preferences and to the very specific requirements set out for the project.”

most-beautiful-superyachts-enigma

Espen Oenio was at the time of the design working with Martin Francis and describes the commissioning owner – Mexican media magnate Emilio Azcarraga – as a wonderfully charismatic man. He remembers one meeting in particular early on in the project.

They were at the time sitting on board the owner’s then yacht Lady Azteca (now Achilles ), when he laid out what was to become the mission statement for the whole design process. He told the design team: “I am a very private man. I never spend time in port, I am always cruising. But when I do go into port, I want my presence to be felt through my boat.”

James Roy of BMT Nigel Gee is one designer who voted for Enigma . “It was not until I set eyes on her in the flesh at Cowes Week in 1999 that I really came to appreciate her beauty,” he says.

“The reverse sheer, the sweeping aft deck and those iconic windows – they all meld together to produce a yacht that visually works to perfection and is thoroughly striking even today, 18 years after her launch. It’s very different from anything else that is around.”

Theo Werner of Werner Yacht Design is equally enthusiastic. “When the design of this yacht was first published, I was stunned,” he says. “And when the first photographs appeared in the magazines, I was even more stunned.

“She introduced a new way of thinking that even surpassed the designs of Bannenberg, who I admire very much. Eco included many aspects that are foreign to other ships and yachts, yet Martin Francis managed to combine these with everything that make a ship pretty, such as sleekness, the suggestion of a low freeboard a small superstructure.”

She was subsequently sold to Larry Ellison and is now owned by the British businessman Aidan Barclay and his brother.

most-beautiful-superyachts-endeavour

3. Endeavour

“Endeavour is one of my favourite yachts for a number of reasons,” Ed Dubois told SuperYacht World . “Firstly, she is a J Class yacht – one of only a few ever built. This class epitomised the very peak of yacht design before World War II and remains still, in technical terms, a class apart. These yachts were extreme in every way and demanded technology that was then in its infancy.

“They were superb yachts to sail upwind, but they were also fast reaching and downwind. They demanded a very high level of sailing skill, and indeed a high level of boatbuilding skill.

“ Endeavour , I believe, is the most beautiful of all the Js built. Her purity of line is exquisite and I think the shape of the sheer is slightly better than any of the others including Velsheda (by the same designer).

“Charles Nicholson designed Endeavour in 1933 and she was used to challenge for the America’s Cup in 1934. It was universally acknowledged that she was faster than the defender Rainbow , and she won the first two races, but better sailing by the Americans allowed them to win overall.

“She has captured the imagination of so many people including, happily, Elizabeth Meyer, who acquired the yacht in the seventies and rebuilt her almost from scratch.

“I believe there is some original plate still present but the hull was rebuilt in the UK and then taken to Royal Huisman Shipyard to be fitted out. The interior, by John Munford, is beautiful – obviously not what was fitted originally when she was a pure racing yacht, but Munford created something that is entirely fitting.

“Endeavour is not a practical yacht to own. She can only be sailed in reasonable conditions, she requires a large crew to race her, most of whom by necessity must sleep ashore, and maintaining a yacht of this type, particularly with regard to sails, rigging, etc is not inexpensive. However, for sheer sailing performance, romantic appeal and beauty I believe she is second to none.”

most-beautiful-superyachts-pelorus

Designer Tim Heywood says: “When a client gives you carte blanche to create a design, it is a blessing and a curse, if you do not rise to the challenge, you will not gain the approval of your client or, eventually, the respect of your peers.

“ Pelorus was a great project for us and we are extremely pleased with the end result, as was the client. I was able to develop the internal general arrangement plan, the external global styling themes and the practical engineering details to a level I had not achieved before.

The organic curves & forms of the superstructure are echoed in the lines of the hull, tying the two forms together, to produce a harmony that is easy on the eye, was quite unique at the time and, hopefully, will not date.

“The belt line that runs forward from the stern and sweeps down towards the anchor pocket, is inspired by the armour plating of the light cruiser HMS Belfast , which still lives just up stream from our old London studio.

“If I succeeded in creating a yacht that is thought of as attractive, by my brothers in arms of the design world, I am very pleased. Informed comments from professional, talented designers and client, means more than from any other source, especially if they are not negative!

“My partner, Vanessa, came up with our project name, we always give a name to our yachts, rather than a sterile number, and the client liked the name so much that he confirmed Pelorus as the yacht’s eventual name. The yacht has changed hands, but we are very pleased to see that she has retained her original name.”

“If I succeeded in creating a yacht that is thought of as attractive by my brothers-in-arms of the design world, I am very pleased. Informed comment from professional, talented designers and clients means more than from any other source – especially when they are positive!”

most-beautiful-superyachts-carinthia-vi-the-one

1. Carinthia VI

Dickie Bannenburg of Bannenburg Designs say: “Famously, and perhaps notoriously, Carinthia VI owes her existence to the fact that her elder sibling Carinthia V survived for only a few months before ending her days several fathoms down in Greek waters.

:The unfortunate captain struggled ashore to find a phone to have an awkward phone conversation with Helmut Horten, his Owner. Mr Horten rang my father up almost the following day and told him to start work on her replacement which has now become, in an often over used phrase, a yachting icon.

“She certainly wasn’t an icon when she appeared out of the Lürssen shed for the first time. With dramatic superstructure on a slim frigate-based hull, grilles and that distinctive blue windshield forward of the wheelhouse, my father’s design scared the pants off people and the perception of him hardened amongst conventional designers and naval architects as a dangerous radical. But now her pared down lines and slender masculinity scream good taste, restraint and a sense of suave style that is rarely seen these days.

“Certainly her interior was purposeful, code for slightly austere, and by today’s standards there was not much interior volume for lavish living, not least due to the presence of three mighty MTU diesels. There are no swoops, no complicated fashion plates and absolutely no ability to walk down steps at the transom to a nice bathing platform.

“But all the better for it. Life on board was, I understand, conducted with a certain Austrian precision and Carinthia ’s elegant and taut exterior, with deep blue paintwork and her gold coachwork stripe cut an unmistakeable dash in the harbours of the Cote d’Azur as she still does today.

“My father was very proud of her. Of course I’m even more proud that his design of almost forty years ago has such an enduring impact.”

One of the finest vintage yachts afloat, Kalizma (pictured top) has an iconic past with a tale steeped in history. Originally commissioned by Robert Stewart, vice commodore of the Royal Eastern Yacht Club (whose wealth came from his Scotch whisky distillery and estate), Minona , as she was named upon her launch, was the first steam-powered yacht to have electric lighting.

Designed by naval architect GL Watson & Co, leading designers of their day, and built by Ramage & Ferguson in Scotland, she is a testament to expert craftsmanship — and has stood the test of time with her classic Edwardian looks and fresh contemporary updates.

As Minona , she served in the British Royal Navy in both World War I and World War II, serving as an Auxiliary Patrol Vessel between 1914 and 1920, and in 1939 as HMS Minona. During her time as the flagship and base for His Majesty’s Deep Sea Rescue Tug Services in Scotland, she was responsible for saving the lives of crewmen from over 1,100 vessels.

On being relieved from her wartime duty, Minona went on to have a couple of different owners during the 1940s and ’50s, and during that period she also underwent a significant refit converting her from steam to diesel. It was during the 1960s that the then-named Odysseia made headlines when chartered by Richard Burton and his wife Elizabeth Taylor, and thus began her dalliance with glitz and glamour.

As a frequent guest of Aristotle Onassis aboard his yacht Christina O , Burton was inspired to purchase the classic yacht as a congratulatory gift for Taylor after she earned an Academy Award for her performance in Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf ? The yacht was subsequently renamed Kalizma , after the stars’ children Kate, Liza and Maria, and refurbished with all new interiors said to have cost more than twice her asking price. Adorned with an art collection with works by Monet, Van Gogh and Picasso, and an extensive library, she became their floating home for the next decade.

It was on board Kalizma while berthed on the River Thames that Burton presented Taylor with the 33-carat Krupp Diamond, also known as the Elizabeth Taylor Diamond. Then, while berthed in Monaco, he gave her the record-breaking $1.5m 69-carat Cartier diamond, which arrived under police escort. Taylor wore the jewel, which became known as the Taylor-Burton Diamond, for the first time on a necklace at Princess Grace’s 40th birthday party.

A number of royalty, including Princess Grace of Monaco and Prince Rainier III, and distinguished personalities such as Rex Harrison and Tennessee Williams, were later guests of the most famous Hollywood couple during their high-profile ownership.

Kalizma has gone on to have a number of owners since then, including serial classic yacht owner Peter de Savary. Kalizma was de Savary’s flagship and floating headquarters for the British team at the 1983 America’s Cup challenge, hosting several spectators in Newport.

Acquired by Indian tycoon Vijay Mallya in 2006, and then by philanthropist Shirish Saraf in 2019, she has since been fully restored, rejuvenating her old-world charm with all the luxuries and amenities expected of a modern superyacht. Today she is available to charter in the Indian Ocean and Asia Pacific with accommodation for 10 guests in five staterooms, including a stunning master suite, two doubles and two twins.

Shenandoah of Sark

Shenandoah classic yacht

Key facts Builder: Townsend & Downey Built: 1902 Refit: 1972, 1996, 2018 LOA: 178 ft Number of guests: 10 Crew: 12

Built at the turn of a century for American banker Charles Fahnestock, Shenandoah , as she was then known, was one of the most high-profile yachts of her age and a symbol of one the most glamorous eras in yachting. Delivered in 1902 by the Townsend & Downey Shipyard in New York, she quickly gained a reputation not only for her celebrated design but for the parties held on board.

During these formative years Shenandoah played host to some of the world’s most powerful families and international royalty while in her homeport of Newport, Rhode Island. A few years later, Fahnestock retired and sailed her to the Mediterranean, where her reputation as one of the most elegant sailing yachts on the circuit was solidified, with parties held along the Côte d’Azur and Amalfi Coast becoming the most sought-after ticket for the yachting fraternity.

While cruising the Mediterranean, Shenandoah turned the head of German aristocrat Landrat Walter von Bruining, who went on to purchase the three-masted schooner and rechristened her Lasca II. Under Bruining’s ownership, Lasca II spent time in Germany and England, where he enjoyed just one summer in Cowes on the Isle of Wight before World War I broke out.

[See also: The 10 Biggest Superyachts in the World]

Commandeered by the British, she subsequently became the property of British shipbuilder Sir John Esplen, who reinstated her previous name and installed two engines on board. Shenandoah then went through a number of different names and owners, including an Italian prince and the Danish sculpture philanthropist, Viggo Jarl, between the wars. Jarl endowed a substantial part of his fortune on the renamed Atlantide, updating her with new diesel engines and an electricity plant, and embarking on a series of long passages to the West Indies and through the Panama Canal to South America.

At the onset of World War II, Jarl returned to Europe and hid Atlantide from the Nazis, removing her masts and engines to render her useless to either side. Surviving the war, and with her engines and masts reinstated on board, Atlantide continued to turn heads wherever she cruised, and also welcomed European royalty on board, including the Duke and Duchess of Windsor.

Shenandoah of Sark yacht

After surviving two World Wars, Atlantide’s run of good fortune was apparently over. During the next few decades she went ‘underground’ and is rumored to have seen her fair share of smugglers and gamblers, cruising throughout the Americas and Caribbean, before ending up in the Mediterranean, where she was seized by the French government in a tax scandal.

Following many years of neglect, she was rescued in 1972 by the inventor of the Bic ballpoint pen, Baron Marcel Bich. Restored to her former splendor and christened Shenandoah once again, Bich sailed the yacht back to America as a spectator boat for the America’s Cup — the first time she had been back to her original homeport of Newport for over 70 years.

Shenandoah spent several years under Bich’s ownership, immaculately maintained, before being purchased by industrialist Philip Bommer. Having witnessed Shenandoah sailing when he was just 13, Bommer had spent the ensuing two decades dreaming about owning her, and in 1986 his ambition was fulfilled. Extensively refit and restored once again, Shenandoah became a renowned charter yacht, before once again entering years of neglect.

Rescued once again, refit and refurbished, Shenandoah was an America’s Cup spectator for the second time, this time in New Zealand in 2000, before competing in the Millennium Cup superyacht regatta. Five circumnavigations later, with a number of successful transatlantic races and classic regattas under her belt, and via a number of owners and award-winning refits, the rechristened Shenandoah of Sark is today a perfectly preserved piece of sailing history.

Christina O

Christina O yacht

Key facts Builder: Canadian Vickers Built: 1943 Refit: 1954, 2001, 2015, 2018 LOA: 325.3 ft Number of guests: 34 Crew: 3

Christina O is a part of yachting legend. Arguably the most famous classic yacht still afloat, the fabled yacht of Aristotle Socrates Onassis has regularly entertained some of the world’s most powerful and famous people. She may not be a classic beauty like Delphine and Talitha but, thanks to the lavish parties hosted aboard by Onassis, with guest lists full of some of the most well-known names of the time, including Frank Sinatra, Marilyn Monroe, Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor, Christina (as she was then known) regularly featured in newspapers and on the cover of glossy magazines.

Becoming a part of the zeitgeist of her era — and as famous as some of the Hollywood stars who came aboard — she remains today a visible symbol of the glamorous lifestyle enjoyed by the yachting crowd from the late 1950s throughout the ’60s.

Originally built in 1943 as a Canadian naval frigate, Christina O remains the largest North American-built yacht still afloat. Purchased by well-known yacht owner and Greek shipping magnate Onassis in 1954, she was converted into the yacht that she is today. It is rumored that Onassis purchased the then-named HMCS Stormont for its scrap value of $34,000, and then spent over $4m converting the surplus anti-submarine frigate into the luxury yacht Christina, named after his firstborn child.

Christina O yacht

In those days this was a vast sum of money, but the investment paid off. Not only did Christina hugely enhance his status and fortune — as a venue for hosting businessmen and politicians, as well as film stars — but she also served as the backdrop for his famous romantic relationships, including his love affair with the renowned soprano Maria Callas. It was on board the converted frigate that John F. Kennedy met his idol Winston Churchill during a dinner hosted by Onassis, and a decade later where Onassis began his courtship of the widowed Jackie Kennedy. The yacht was even their wedding venue.

Despite seeing some deterioration under the ownership of the Greek government, Christina O has been refurbished and refitted; today she retains the fantastic opulence Onassis so extravagantly bestowed on her. In fact, she positively oozes ’50s Hollywood glamor; it could even be said she has only improved with age. As an in-demand charter yacht, her eternal appeal to a modern clientele is proven.

All the modern comforts and luxuries that are expected on a luxury yacht seamlessly blend with her original features. All of the 17 guest suites have been refurbished, yet maintain the pastel decor selected by style icon Jackie O. The original, mosaic-tiled pool that transforms into a dance floor has also been restored, while the famous Ari’s barstools retain their original upholstery, believed to be sperm-whale foreskin — now there’s a conversation starter when you are perched at the bar.

Christina O is currently cruising the Caribbean and will be available for charter throughout the summer in the Mediterranean. The perfect yacht for large family groups or event charters, her SOLAS status allows up to 34 guests to cruise in total comfort in 17 double staterooms, 14 of which can be converted into twin staterooms.

From €620,000 to €700,000 (approx. $692,000 to $790,000) per week. Contact Morley Yachts, [email protected] , +33 680 863 091, morley-yachts.com

Key facts Builder: Camper & Nicholsons Built: 1928 Refit: 1947, 2009, 2013, 2018 LOA: 147 ft Number of guests: 16 Crew: 12

With a unique and historic pedigree, the Camper & Nicholsons-built Grace has led many lives during almost a century afloat. Built as a luxury yacht in 1928 and originally christened Monica, she was used by the British as part of the war effort. While serving in the Royal Navy as HMS Rion, she sadly suffered serious damage as part of the Dunkirk evacuation fleet.

Rescued by Aristotle Onassis in 1951 and renamed Arion , she played host to iconic figures like Winston Churchill and Elizabeth Taylor. On hearing of Prince Rainier’s engagement to Grace Kelly in 1955, Onassis presented the classic motor yacht to them as a gift for their forthcoming 1956 nuptials.

She was renamed Deo Juvante II , and the couple honeymooned aboard her, cruising Corsica and Sardinia. Acquired by the current owners in 2007, she spent more than two years in the shipyard being restored to her former glory and having additional superyacht luxuries installed, including air conditioning and en-suite bathrooms.

Rechristened Grace , she is available for charter in the Galápagos Islands for up to 16 guests and 12 crew. Great attention to detail has been given to restoring her original features, including the original brass ship’s wheel from 1927, which is still inscribed with the yacht’s original name. The master suite, known as the Grace Kelly Suite, is in the original location, while two further master suites and two twin-bedded cabins are all decorated to the highest standards.

Her communal guest areas feature period-style, custom furniture in keeping with her elegant build. In addition to her alfresco dining and lounging areas and hot tub, the toybox is geared towards exploring the Galápagos National Park and includes kayaks, snorkeling equipment and two Zodiac tenders.

Delphine yacht

Key facts Builder: Great Lakes Engineering Works Refit yard: Scheepswerf Zeebrugge Built: 1921 Refit: 1926, 1997, 2003, 2016 LOA: 258 ft Number of guests: 26, 150 day guests Crew: 26

Commissioned by auto magnate Horace Dodge and named after his only daughter, Delphine is the largest steam-powered yacht ever to be built in the US. Sadly, Horace never got to see the launch of this third private yacht he built, as he passed away just a year before her delivery. However, his wife Anna and their family loved and cherished Delphine , cruising on board her in the Great Lakes and along the East Coast, hosting cocktail parties on board.

With all her luxuries, including 10 magnificent staterooms, a music room, card room, dining room and smoking room, and a crew of 55, she positively defined 1920s East Coast glamor. In 1926, while she was docked on the Hudson River in Manhattan, two cabins caught fire, and with too much water poured in by the fire department, Delphine sank. Unwilling to live without her, the Dodge family salvaged her from the deep and restored her faithfully, with some additional renovations to her interior.

She suffered further, minor damage when she ran aground in the Great Lakes, before being repaired and acquired by the United States Navy at the start of the war to become the flagship for Admiral Ernest King, commander-in-chief of the US Fleet and chief of US Naval Operations during World War II. While still in service as USS Dauntless, she reputedly hosted Franklin Roosevelt, Winston Churchill and Viatcheslav Molotov as they met with Admiral King to discuss war strategies and prepare the Yalta Convention.

Reacquired by the Dodge family after the war, she was restored to a private yacht and rechristened Delphine once again. Over the next three decades Delphine sailed under numerous ownerships and different names, including almost 20 years spent as a training ship for merchant seamen, until finally being sold (for scrap metal prices) in 1997.

Having crossed the Atlantic for the first time and berthed in the Mediterranean, she was towed to Bruges, Belgium, where she underwent a six-year, $60m restoration. Her new Belgian owner scoured museums and archives for Delphine’s original blueprints, in an effort to ensure that the engineering and architectural refit was faithful to her original design, right down to the 20-ft-tall quadruple steam engines, six-person Turkish bath and hairdressing salon. Even her bespoke tenders, handmade from Honduran mahogany, remain exactly as they were when she was brand new.

Rechristened in 2003 as Delphine by HSH Princess Stéphanie of Monaco , she is today the largest luxury yacht of her era with her original steam engines still in service. To put that into context, her 6-ft-tall propellers are powered by water converted into vapor pressure by diesel fuel. She consumes 600 liters an hour at cruising speeds. When you consider that many modern motor yachts of a similar size use more than 1,000 liters of fuel an hour, Delphine could almost be considered environmentally friendly. Full steam ahead.

Haida classic yacht

Key facts Builder: Friedrich Krupp Germaniawerft Refit yard: Pendennis Built: 1929 Refit: 2018 LOA: 233 ft Number of guests: 12 Crew: 18

At the time of her launch in 1929, this clipper-bow yacht was christened Haida , after the native people of Alaska and British Columbia. It is the name for which she is best known, and to which she has recently reverted following a comprehensive refit. However, the iconic Haida has sailed through a succession of adventures and has had many different names during her storied life.

Haida’s original commissioning owner spent over a decade cruising the west coast of America, pursuing his interests in marine science and fishing. In 1940, the oceangoing yacht was commandeered for service in World War II by the US Navy. She had a heroic naval career, saving many lives and protecting key installations while patrolling San Francisco Bay.

In 1946, post war, she returned to her role as a private yacht and moved to Alexandria in Egypt, where she cruised for five years before moving to the French Riviera in 1952 — just in time for the birth of the Mediterranean yachting scene.

She has resided in the Mediterranean ever since, under various ownerships of dedicated, high-profile owners, including Löel Guinness, becoming one of the world’s most famous superyachts.

Haida’s recent, award-winning refit by the renowned Pendennis Shipyard has combined the grandeur and elegance of 1930s yachting with state-of-the-art superyacht luxuries. Despite replacing over 100 tons of steel within her hull structure, Haida 1929 (as she is now known) retains the sophisticated and timeless exterior lines originally designed by Cox & Stevens.

Even the original Krupp engines remain, thought to be the oldest working engines of their type. Deck spaces are generous, especially on the recently extended sun deck, which has been split around her iconic funnel. Period furniture and artworks re-create the charm and ambience of her heritage, while a light color palette and modern amenities have been integrated.

Her notable features include a barber shop, spa, hammam, biofuel fireplace, indoor and outdoor cinemas, and stepped pool. Elegant and refined, Haida 1929 is a truly original classic. Refit project management by Edmiston Yachts.

La Sultana yacht at sea

Key facts Builder: Georgi Dimitrov Built: 1962 Refit: 2018 LOA: 213ft Number of guests: 12 Crew: 17

She may not hail from the golden era of yachting like other classic yachts her size, but this former Soviet spy ship is certainly not short on history. A true gentleman’s yacht, La Sultana has led many lives during her 50-plus years afloat. Originally built in 1962 in Bulgaria for use as a passenger ferry, Aji-Petri (as she was then known) was the fifth of a series of 12 ships that carried passengers and cargo through the Black Sea between the ports of Istanbul and Yalta.

She became a Soviet spy ship in the early 1970s when the Soviet Union took over the entire fleet of passenger ferries operating in the Black Sea to use for military purposes. Officially, she was in service in the North Atlantic for the International Telecommunication Union; however, in reality she was being used to eavesdrop and intercept radio telecommunications between the US and the UK. After the dissolution of the Soviet Union, Aji-Petri resumed her position as a passenger ferry before being used, in her original form, as a pleasure yacht in Tunisia.

La Sultana yacht interior

Some 50 years after her build, she was discovered by a French gentleman. It was during a colossal seven-year, multimillion-dollar restoration in Casablanca that the yard unearthed several espionage instruments, including a radioactivity detector and several electronic devices from the Cold War. With the addition of her raised bow, touch-and-go helipad, machinery, piping and wiring, commercial engine and a huge keel, the rechristened La Sultana emerged from the shipyard as a majestic cruising yacht.

Today, her striking interior features Art Deco touches that draw inspiration from the stylish vessels of the 1920s, while the Arabian Nights-inspired decor is both eccentric and exotic. The new layout features an indoor 16-ft counter-current swimming pool and hammam, and seven luxurious staterooms, including a vast master suite on the upper deck, two VIP staterooms on the main deck, and four staterooms on the lower deck, all with en suites — quite a difference from the original build with its 102 cabins.

Her large deck areas include lots of relaxation and entertainment areas, as well as a classically styled spa pool on the foredeck, located forward of the new helipad. With more than a nod to the golden age of yachting, the rebuilt La Sultana is a classic motor yacht for modern times.

Builder: Camper & Nicholsons Refit: Pendennis Built: 1937 Refit: 2015 LOA: 164 ft Number of guests: 10 Crew: 11

Designed by Charles E Nicholson and built by Camper & Nicholsons in 1937, Malahne is one of just a handful of British-built, pre-war motor yachts to have survived into the 21st century. Originally commissioned by William Stephenson, head of the British arm of the Woolworth store chain and a passionate yachtsman, this classic 1930s gentleman’s yacht has led a glamorous and colorful life, with many ups and downs. Stephenson owned both the J-Class yacht Velsheda and Malahne , and named them after his daughters Velma, Sheila and Daphne, with the first few letters of their names forming ‘Velsheda’ and the last few letters ‘ Malahne .’

She spent her first few years cruising the Mediterranean, and crossed the Atlantic a number of times before being handed over for military needs during World War II. During her time serving as a patrol cruiser in the English Channel, Malahne also participated in the evacuation of troops from Dunkirk.

Post war, Malahne passed through a few different hands before being acquired by the legendary Hollywood producer Sam Spiegel, who anchored her off Jordan to be used as a floating office while shooting Lawrence of Arabia. On retiring from her filming duties, Malahne became a fixture along the glittering Côte d’Azur, where Spiegel entertained Hollywood A-listers including Frank Sinatra, Elizabeth Taylor, Grace Kelly and Jack Nicholson. She also starred in the 1973 murder mystery The Last of Sheila , starring Raquel Welch.

Malahne deck

A decade later, she was sold to a Saudi sheikh who renamed her Adel XII and changed her beyond recognition, with an almost sacrilegious angular new superstructure and modern interior quite out of keeping with her classic past. Twenty years later, she passed into more sympathetic hands, and underwent a hugely ambitious restoration at the British shipyard Pendennis. The restoration experts there sought to bring her back to her original classic yacht form, but with the addition of a few 21st-century comforts.

While Pendennis worked on recreating her original hull form and undoing the damage wrought by the previous owner, classic yacht experts GL Watson & Co were drafted to rework her exterior lines; meanwhile, design experts from Oliver Laws — who designed the Art Deco interiors of the Connaught hotel and Claridge’s — set to work on her interior, producing a design more faithful to the original, including a number of original antique 1930s pieces but with a modern Art Deco twist.

Today, thanks to such a comprehensive and sympathetic refit by her devoted British owner, Malahne is a tribute to modern engineering and British craftsmanship. One of the finest classic yachts for charter , she features state-of-the-art equipment and Art Deco interior styling. Were he still alive, there’s no doubt that Sinatra would be delighted to tap his dancing shoes once again on board her stunningly restored teak decks.

Key facts Builder: Friedrich Krupp Germaniawerft Refit: Devonport Yachts Built: 1930 Refit: 1993, 2009 LOA: 262 ft Number of guests: 12 Crew: 20

With her flared clipper bow, impressive funnels and traditional counter stern, there couldn’t be a more classic-looking yacht reflecting the golden age of yachting than Talitha . Originally commissioned by Russell Algar of the Packard Motor Car Company, the originally named Reveler was sadly not yet delivered by the German shipyard F. Krupp in Kiel when Algar died.

Sold to Charles McCann of the Woolworth family and renamed Chalena, she was later requisitioned by the US Maritime Commission in 1942, and entered service as a gunboat with new armaments mounted fore and aft. Operating under her new military name of USS Beaumont in the waters between Midway Island and Pearl Harbor, she survived the war without serious incident, and in 1946 was decommissioned and returned to private ownership.

Post war, like many of her classic cousins, she spent many years lying abandoned — in her case on the Greek island of Petali, before being rescued by the Australian film producer Robert Stigwood and renamed Jezebel. Stigwood spent millions restoring much of her original elegance, with the addition of modern comforts including air conditioning and satellite communications systems.

beautiful yachts photos

Described by The New York Times as a “floating fantasy,” she featured a re-design of the distinctive clipper bow and new teak decks but, sadly, it wasn’t to last and, following some engine problems, she was laid up once again in the late 1980s. In 1993 she was brought to the attention of her next and current owner Sir John Paul Getty Jr.

Under the guidance of legendary designer Jon Bannenberg, she was painstakingly restored to her former glory, with both exterior and interior redesign and brand new engines. The addition of a pair of funnels and an extended wheelhouse was at the time criticized by many, but Bannenberg’s vision proved them wrong when the renamed Talitha G (named after Getty’s second wife) was relaunched to great acclaim, with more than a nod to her 1930s design.

One of the most detailed, distinctive and beautiful classic motor yachts to be relaunched in recent times, Talitha is suitably reflective of an incredibly glamorous era of yachting. Featuring an all-new Art Deco interior with all of the trappings of a modern classic, she is a real head-turner, not only for the Hollywood celebrities spotted on board, but for her own stunning looks.

Eros yacht sailing

Builder: Brooke Marine Built: 1939 Refit: 1999, 2016, 2019 LOA : 115 ft Number of guests: 8 Crew: 5

Delivered in 1939 by British shipyard Brooks Motor Craft, the classic sailing yacht Eros has led a colorful past, with lords, ladies and royalty all captivated by her charm and beautiful lines over her eight decades afloat. Originally christened Jeanry , she was commissioned for the daughter and son-in-law of a British lord who unfortunately spent very little time on board her before she was requisitioned by the Royal Navy to participate in the evacuation efforts at Dunkirk during World War II.

Following the end of her wartime service she went on to be owned by Greek shipping magnate Stavros Niarchos, second only to Aristotle Onassis in the shipping magnate stakes and also the first man to be called a billionaire. Niarchos rechristened her Eros in honor of the Greek god of love and passion, and under his ownership the wooden schooner became a fixture on the Mediterranean yachting circuit, hosting the cream of European society, including King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia of Spain.

Niarchos gifted the newlyweds the use of Eros along with his private Greek island, Spetsopoula, for their honeymoon in 1962. The island also hosted Prince Charles and Princess Diana for the latter part of their honeymoon while they cruised through the Mediterranean and Aegean on board the Royal Yacht Britannia.

Eros went on to change ownership just one more time before being rescued by her current owner in 1992. Meticulously restored to her original grandeur over the course of 18 years, she was relaunched in 2016 and now offers the refinement of a bygone era combined with the latest superyacht luxuries. Retaining many original details, including the Admiralty bronze fittings of the ship’s bell and restored Burmese teak planks, her complete overhaul involved repairs and replacements to her steel structure, and over 20,000 new bronze bolts, among many other things.

Today, Eros offers charter guests the chance to experience genuine sailing on a stunning classic yacht, either cruising in the Caribbean or Mediterranean or racing in classic regattas in the Caribbean and New England. Boasting state-of-the-art technology, 22 hydraulically assisted winches and 9,000 sq ft of sail, Eros can reach speeds of up to 10 knots under sail.

And for those looking to simply sit back and relax, her four guest cabins include a master stateroom with private en suite featuring a Jacuzzi bath, a double stateroom with en suite, and two twin cabins with shared bathroom. Out on deck, she boasts numerous seating and lounging areas for socializing, relaxing and alfresco dining.

Eros also offers plenty of on-the-water entertainment, with a great selection of water toys for her more active guests to enjoy.

Yacht Guest Bedrooms (2 Beds)

Many guest bedrooms on a yacht have two beds so that it can accommodate more people. However, they are, as you’ll see below, still very, very luxurious. These are certainly cozy sleeping quarters.

Salon and Dinette Photos

My favorite room on the boat is the salon and/or dinette area. In many cases, the dinette doubles as the living room. Mega yachts have dedicated salons and dining areas. I love these superb lounge designs below in the cabin as well as the upper lounge areas.

Large yacht salon interior

I must admit that kitchens on these super yachts are fairly small. I guess the cooking is done by the staff and yacht owners prefer to have more space for bedrooms, deck space and lounge space. That makes sense given there really is limited space. Nevertheless, these kitchens are gorgeous and the yacht designers certainly didn’t skimp with respect to quality.

Most boats dedicate very little space to bathrooms. Not these. The primary bathrooms below are incredible. The smaller bathrooms are guest bathrooms. These luxury yachts are so large and spacious that even the bathrooms are both beautiful and comfortable to use.

What makes yachts the most expensive in the world?

Have you ever wondered what makes those super expensive yachts so special? Imagine a boat that’s more like a floating dream house than anything else. These yachts are the playgrounds of the super-rich, and there’s so much about them that’s just mind-blowing.

First off, think about stepping onto a yacht that feels like the fanciest hotel you’ve ever seen. We’re talking about soft, plush carpets that your feet sink into, rooms filled with art that could be in museums, and furniture that looks like it’s straight out of a luxury magazine. It’s not just a boat; it’s a whole other world of luxury.

But what really jacks up the price tag on these yachts? It’s the crazy features they come with. How about a movie theater on the water? Or maybe a helipad, so you can just fly onto your yacht whenever you want. And for those who love adventures, some of these yachts have mini-submarines. Yes, you read that right – submarines! So you can explore underwater without even getting wet.

The tech on these yachts is also out of this world. They have navigation systems that could probably fly a spaceship, making sure you’re safe wherever you go. And the crew! Imagine having people on board whose only job is to make sure you have everything you need, whether it’s a five-star meal or just a fresh towel.

Owning one of these yachts isn’t just about having a fancy boat – it’s a statement. It says you’ve made it in a big way. It’s like having your own private island that can move. Only a few people in the world can say they have something this amazing, and it’s about the freedom to explore the ocean in your own floating palace.

In short, the most expensive yachts in the world are all about bringing your wildest dreams to life. They’re not just about getting from one place to another; they’re about experiencing life at its most luxurious, where every day is an adventure and the whole sea is yours to explore. How cool is that?

And in addition to this list we’re offering you to check our list of Top 10 Most Expensive Cars in the World and Top 10 Most Expensive Wrist Watches in the World .

The only thing I think of when I see such extravagant luxury and the extreme amount of materialistic items these individuals purchase is: imagine if the super rich actually did something constructive with their loot. I don’t know … clean up the environment; fix everything mankind has done to this sick planet so there’s something left for our kids, grandkids to enjoy; feed the homeless; pour money into the education systems; rid the world of poverty etc. What a legacy! But, nope, instead they’ll still spend 150,000$ on a dress they might wear once, $30 M on a house they don’t even live in … all just to feed their ego. It’s unreal and so sad.

You guys do realize what happens after the yachts are built that your crediting billionaires for buying? Do you think that just because they spent billions for a yacht that it will employ and pay for 100’s of life’s forever? Do you realize that the money from these billionaires buying these yachts is being handed to another greedy hand? I do agree that if you have the money, spend it. I do agree that it’s their right to do what they want with their money. I’m not jealous of what they have….I’m simply stating that Greed begets Greed. Rather than bash others for what they have and complain about what we don’t have, take a look at your life and it’s entirety. Look at your spouse, your children, the shelter, clothes and things you do have and be grateful. Be proud of how hard you work to earn what you do and keep fighting the good fight because the simplicity of our lives has much more real, tangible and powerful value than others with more fortune. Don’t think that they wake up everyday with a huge smile, sense of relief, no stress, no fears, etc because they do. When someone has more than others, the others will always be looking for ways to take what they have. This last sentence isn’t directed toward the wealthy either. There’s always somebody that has even less than you or I and trust me…that person is looking for a way to get what we have. We are all guilty of the “Woe is Me” syndrome when we could just be thankful for what we have, proud of our hard work and the example we set for our children and don’t forget that we have a responsibility to give back and help others as well. Have you ever thought about how exhausting, stressful and miserable it is to face everyday battling greed, jealousy and hatred? Think about it and tomorrow, wake up with an opposing attitude and see how much better your day and life is. It’s just like being dishonest – it takes far more work and causes way more damage to tell a lie rather than telling the truth.

I grew into a 6 ft blonde lady, it was predestined. My point is that life is not an even playing field. That is what makes horse racing. Enjoy life no matter what you have, make the best of it and when all seems lost hope and love are always possible!

I think Darwin no longer applies to our species. In 1950 it did. I’m a white dude from the suburbs of Sacramento, California. Here’s what I can tell about entitlement. 97% of the successful people that I have known are successful because their parents pumped time and money in to them. Think George Bush, George Bush, and Prescott Bush. These people don’t strive because of intelligence, hard work, effort, beauty, strength, or any survival of the fittest trait. When money goes obsolete, Darwin will rule once again. Selfish, greedy, entitled, spoiled rotten momma’s boys rule our world. What happened to natural selection?.The logistics and statistics of becoming a billionaire by yourself aren’t impossible ( always and never don’t exist) but close enough to be considered highly improbable. Divide and Conquer People.

Envy means I do not have that and i wish you did not have it too.

Jealousy means I do not have that, but i wish i did.

I thought it was the opposite

You can’t blame these people for buying these yachts. God bless them. They think large and they leave large. Its all a state of mind. I’m not anywhere near that but I’m improving. The wise people say the world is perfect as it is and you would be very arrogant to try to make the world the way YOU want, you can’t just undermine GOD. So be happy with what you have and improve yourself, maybe one day if you do a good job you will have something that makes you happy just like these $4+ billion yachts make them happy

The wise people also say, the perfection in the world also includes all experiences and perceptions which, if you consider the global insect apocalypse, or the disappearance of salamanders in my childhood back yard creek due in part to pollution from stormwater run off, you will quickly realize things could be better. Our hearts know that it is intolerable to live in a world where child sex trafficking rings exist. Our hearts know it is intolerable to live in a world where wealth inequality has been able to reach such heights. Capitalism says you are paid what your worth, but it’s not true. You are paid what you have the power to negotiate. No one making $50 million dollars a year is worth 1000 times more than the every day salary of $50,000/yr. But we don’t have to tolerate rising wealth inequality in a rivalrous dynamics led world. Stormwater run off doesn’t need to wipe out salamanders because it doesnt need to be toxic. The story we tell about the metaphysical reasons that we are here are directing the game that we’re playing. That game being one where we dismiss, disregard, or don’t know of the externalities of our choices. That game being one of rivalrous dynamics, modeled after the rest of the animal kingdom, and a game that we seemingly needed in order to become something unique, powerful and beautiful in the world. I believe the time has come for our deep adaptation to become something that we’ve never been. It’s time we play a different game, under a different story, with different answers than are pervasive today as to ‘What the human is here to do? We do not get to choose if we have answers for questions like ‘Why are we here?’ or ‘What is the human?’ When we havent asked these questions, in the absence of the sacred (for what else is the nature of these things?), culture injects answers that we often unconsciously adopt. One question I think would be excellent to begin with is ‘Do I want to consciously or unconsciously adopt answers to the deepest philosophical and metaphysical questions?’

For each yacht we see in this article, several thousand people down the supply chain that built it, operate it, and maintain it – have jobs. Houses, cars, retirement accounts. They pay their local taxes for police and fire, they go on vacations… Do you seriously think the world will be a better place we ban wealth? geeze. Its been tried a few times… well… the excuse to confiscate it that is… no one is happy when everyone is forced to be equally poor.

That has been studied and absolutely incorrect. The less economic disparity, the happier the population. I hope you are capable of understanding that someday.

JAMES – That is not true- the world cannot be equal in order to operate. There has to be the weak and the strong, the rich and the poor. People can’t be equally poor, remember, we are in a socialism world right now, and the powerful do dominate everything. I hope YOU will be able to understand that someday.

Must have been a China poll. Share the wealth. Kill all the people that have spent 5 years studying and are professional in their field. All are the same. Welcome to pure communism.

WRONG ! James you are ……… WRONG, WRONG, WRONG !

All the studies you are referring to were conducted by the economically disparaged.

It’s been tested and proven to be probably the exact opposite of what you say. Humanity can never surpass materialistic things in nature. That’s NATURALLY. But one can do it but the natural thing still remains.

this is actually pretty savage of them, like there are people dying and tehy are over here spending money like they own the place. selfish gooses. i personally believ e that if you are gona spend that much money you should spend it on things likes money and other things such as like money. i dont wanna be rood or anything bubt like its such a mood.

I agree. They want to avoid the jealous hordes coming for them with pitchforks? Tithe yourself and free up money for people that can’t afford not only superyachts, but food on the table, adequate health care and education. Ditto for prancing around like dumb teenagers showig off their iPhone 15’s. Old money wasn’t classless enough to flash their wealth. They should show some class.

cool & so inspiring. one day in the near future I am going to own mine & name it Moonshine Rosemary after mom & I . Long live capitalism!!

OMG, impossible luxury….

I want to buy the solid gold one

Last one the smallest and the most expensive due to its materials.. bah

These are really insane. It kinda reminds me that line from movie Wall Street… How much is enough? I honestly can’t imagine a clearer sign that somebody has too much money, then luxurious super yacht. On the other hand, it isn’t all gold what shines. Some of these yachts can look nice on the outside but being build surprisingly badly inside. Nothing more satisfying as ripping off a rich guy right? 😀

Hi, if you all permit me to add another comment to this article after reading all yours, other than 2-4 of you looking at this article in a negative way, the majority are between envy and looking forward to step in the owners shoes. Very common to human being throughout their evolution to acquire, and those who have been looked at as the privileged, while the rest would be part of feeding that machine or work for it and for reasons beyond this permitted space. My 2 cents in the whole discussion is from several point of view, we pride ourselves that we are at point of history where freedom of expression, action and knowledge never been so high, maybe few parts of homo sapiens history like Greece where we can say matching if not more (factoring 2500 years of delay), I have no comments on anybody’s behavior, but 1st rule in life is modesty of acquisition and accumulation to fulfill our need and our security (both are fulfilled in this day and age and if not because again human intentional decision not to help others of their kind which other animal species doesn’t behave as same) , most of who I see and read about who shop beyond their need in life and fill their closet to the point that these closets are apartment sizes while these goods are hardly used several times if not left with their tags. Not walking the (saving the planet road) but to think of how much small shirt need of water to produce or any of that, I can’t but see that there is strong schizophrenia in behaviour and thinking, that we carry on criticizing to protect this precious suffocating planet and at the same time falling prey to these kind of behaviour. And as Yuval Noah Harari said, we have abundance of wealth to fulfil everybody’s need, it is still our beasty behaviour to deny other human being from coming to equal level because we want to have 24 carat golden faucet and marble bath tub shipped from Italy to our big houses, (beasty and not animal, animal act in accordance with their needs and not wasting, as much as they are part of the Ecosystem plus other aspect that you can research on regarding struggle or violent behaviour differences between human and other animal species in general). I would end with the Mahatma Ghandi when he said (this planet can fulfill everybody’s need but can’t fulfill their greed). My apologies if I offended anybody with no prior intentions in writing my comments.

your English is abysmal – that’s the most offensive thing, period!

It seems as if it’s not his mother tongue, and if that’s the case, the claim is well-enough professed. Your English is not any better– you don’t even capitalize the first word in your sentence! Rookie move, especially when bashing another xx

Jim, with respect, it should be capital ‘Y’ for “Your”! C’mon buddy, there are a few minor grammatical errors and a couple of spelling mistakes in the complete Article! This guy is providing us with interesting information, in a plain English and easy to understand way. We don’t all have “Your” Superior Command of The English Language and thank God we don’t, as it must be very hard labour, to read most Articles that are published today! Kind regards, Lawrence

It’s funny how so many of you are like “Well they could spend that on less fortunate people or those in need.” They already probably are, and then they’re rewarding themselves for helping those people. Money is a unit of measure rendered to you based on the amount of people you serv; and most of you have money problems because you only serve one person: YOUR BOSS. Stop making excuses and start putting in hard work for your dreams and goals in life. Yeah, it’ll take time but the time will pass ANYWAY.

Easy for you to say. You have people working for you most likely, where as the rest of us cannot afford to pay the bills because cost of living is so high it’s ridiculous. We live in a world where a family of four with an income of $30,000 a year is considered below the poverty line. Just think about that for a moment, realize what that means. 50 years ago $30,000 a year was enough for a family of four to buy a decent 3 bedroom house with garage on a 1 acre plot, live comfortably, pay for their kids to go to college, go on family vacations, camping trips, eat healthy, and afford healthcare without breaking the bank. Now that same $30,000 isn’t enough to buy a trailer, or pay for college. You can barely afford basic health insurance, deductibles are stupidly high and most insurance companies expect you to pay the deductible up front first before they’ll pick up the rest of the bill, and most families these days just don’t have that kind of money available anymore. 50 years ago, sure, but nowadays, no. The “Pull yourself up by your bootstraps.” nonsense is a blatant cop-out by those who possess the means to do so. Try living on $9.00/hour 40 hr/week and $7.75/hour 38 hours/week on average working two full time jobs where your paychecks barely cross $300.00 and that’s if you get paid any overtime, your weekly income is at best $550.00 after taxes leaving you to care for a family of four on $2,200.00 to maybe $2,400.00 a month. Your monthly groundline/internet phone bill is $80 on average, no cable tv, maybe stream Netflix or Hulu plus not both for about $15 a month, (there’s your “luxury” hardee har har), used car payment to a cheesy used car dealership of a $100.00/month plus car insurance at $80/month. $600.00/month rent on a 3 bedroom apartment, utilities NOT included, so that’s another $100.00 out the window. A food bill that averages close to $250/week to feed everybody, with maybe one dining out trip for the family to Denny’s or something once a month for about maybe $60 including tip, and that’s if you save some extra cash on a couple of your grocery shopping trips. Health insurance bill is $800.00/month and your deductible is like $2,000.00. Gas for the car when gas is hovering around $2.50/gallon and the car is an old retired 2002 Crown Victoria with over 200,000 miles on the odometer and needs work and parts you can’t afford. LIVE ON THAT for a couple years and then you can tell me your story about “Pulling yourself up by your bootstraps.” when you have to live like that. Where can you save money for college? When both spouses work full time just to make ends meet, no time for the kids. No family time. No vacations. When the most luxurious thing you own is a used video game console you bought from the local pawn shop for $60 and that was a Christmas gift for the kids to share. Man you rich people are so out of touch with the rest of humanity it makes us all sick. And don’t try to bullshit me with some asinine excuse that you’re not so well off, because we all know that’s a lie.

(“Money is a unit of measure rendered to you based on the amount of people you serv; *sic)

That is how rich people talk, people who look down their noses at people like us because you “Worked for your dreams and goals in life.” Wake up to the reality of the world we live in now. Working for your dreams is no longer a possibility for people like us. WE CAN’T HAVE DREAMS ANYMORE because people LIKE YOU have taken those dreams away. You people with your bottom lines, profit margins, and satisfying your so-called investors when it is us the rank and file who put in all the real work, while we’re left to beg for crumbs from our master’s table. WE DO WORK HARD and we work a hell of a lot harder than you EVER HAVE! So don’t sit there like some High and Mighty GOD and preach to us like we’re the lazy ones. You do the work I do every single day for the pay I get and I dare you to call me lazy. I dare you to call my wife lazy. I dare you to call all the rest of us who work our fingers to the bone for the most ungrateful people on the damn planet, lazy. Like as if it isn’t hard enough for us when the only thanks we get is our pay getting cut, or hours cut, overtime pay cancelled, or simply not meted out, our staff numbers cut, workloads increased so we have to do more for less all so some fat greedy exec can afford a $4.5 billion dollar boat. Like he actually works for a living,… don’t make me laugh. Your considerations of our plight is about as fake and empty as that cheap smile you wear on your face while people like you get $1.5 trillion dollars in tax cuts, just so you can go and buy back stocks. Then just to make yourselves look profitable you close down factories and shift even more jobs over seas to 3rd world countries where you can have 12 year old girls and boys working 16/hour a day shifts making cheap products on the backs of legalized slave labor. Eventually, your $4.5 billion dollar boats will mean nothing, your $6 billion dollar palace estates will mean nothing as this artificial financial bubble you’ve inflated for yourselves will pop and it will be you who have the farthest to fall and you will only have yourselves and your own damn greed to blame.

See you in line at the soup kitchen. 🙂

Haha @Angry_Peasant, holy smokes you just hit my nail square on the head. Sad, sad thing nowadays. However, you was being slightly tight on those numbers. $350 (used car) $150 (insurance 4 car) $750 health insurance deductible paid upfront, $650 RENT for a rough house in a NOT SO PLEASANT area (meaning I dont have weekly murders but there is plenty of “friendly corner salesmen if you catch my drift”, $300 weekly food bill UNLESS we fall behind in our rent/bills which happens at Christmas or if we decide to treat our kids to 2 days at Kings Island as a “vacation ” bcuz they earn it by getting A’s n B’s in school and it crushes parents to hear your 4 kids ask if they can do something fun this summer. And we fall behind trust me that $300 food bill goes down to $150ish (lots of spaghetti n ramen noodles, cereal, hamburgers hotdogs etc. Utility bills are more like $250 if prices dont go up from greedy companies. Oh yea, I work 60+ hrs a week and my wife does too. I also have major bone n muscle disorders but cant get treated bcuz I cannot be off work that long to recover. And lets not forget clothes and school supplies. But Im living the dream, just not sure whos dream it is. I am lucky tho. Bcuz I work Maintenance for a Catholic School/church my kids get private schooling. Otherwise, it would be $8500 a child. Luckily its only $3000 for one child in high school and my other 3 in elementary are still free. But maybe with fingers crossed they will get the chance to live their own dreams and not those of someone who spends 1 billion buck-o-roos on a boat bcuz they feel like they earned by giving $10,000 to some charity once a year.

Well said brother , what about those who file banckrupsies and become presidents? And then, tax more the poor working people and tax free the rich wealthy ones…? and then justice for all…?

@Angry_Peasant this is awesome, can I borrow it?

What can I say , it’s wonderful to live large . Perhaps soon my day of living large will come. Thank you Lord.

which one you want

Well …. it is all God’s work!!! The gift of ability, of hard work of investment produces such beauty. There is no end to God’s creative work. Like them all!!! Very relaxing looking at these yachts.

Yup, all it takes is hard work and we can all own one of these. Really?

You can if you stop making excuses for yourself and work your butt off and go in the righ direction.

The American dream is dead.

I am religious. BUT i will point out to you… GOD has nothing to do with the Super Yachts or the Super Rich. These creations are purely based on the Demands of the Multi-billionaires out there.

OMG! Number 3.! A replica of a city on water! That’s quite visionary. They even made the plan and know how much it costs. In other words it’s not just an idea, It’s doable.

For me luxury is comfort. A vehicle easy to get in and out of, easy to use, quiet, a suspension somewhere between sports and wallow.

What can I say.. but to gaze at this beautiful toys.. I hail everyone who contributes in building this boats.. I don’t have to envy or condemn any rich man who can afford it.. for me, watching and reading articles like this serve as a motivation for me to work hard and right so that I could buy and own one someday and when I do.. I will name it after my lovely Mother.

I would name it after my mother as well.

Me too will name it after my mother (Emily)

The only thing I didn’t see in ALL these expensive ?s, is the cemetery where they would be buried when they die,I call this arrant weast of funds!!

Spectaculars Yachts , This is great list of the most expensive, luxurious and amazing yachts. The number one is incredible.(History Supreme)

In reply to Nigel, Although I sympathize with his comments, it does seem to me that by buying one of these luxury boats, the money that otherwise would have been sitting in some vault somewhere is being put to use. Yes the owner has a big new plaything, but think of all the thousands of people that earned incomes to support their families designing, building, stocking and managing these ships. Literally tens of thousands of peoples income for years (and of course all the people that took care of these people – grocers, barbers, teachers, plumbers, etc. etc.) earned incomes because these ships came into existence.

I’m sure there are many better ways to help people, by giving away the wealth, but spending it on luxury items doesn’t make it disappear – it goes deeply into the economy.

About the ships themselves – they are awesome and beautiful in their own right.

People starve all over the world and this is what we do with wealth………..mmmmmm power suit power tie… Dickheads “oh darling let’s spend a little of or money, bollocks to people living in shit and dieing lets buy a 4.5 billion pound boat ” it’s a nice boat and I admire the designs but personally I could not sleep knowing that my pleasure item could solve massive world hunger and help put a stop to mass corruption I bet you don’t put this comment on the page

Your last sentence was in vain. We are against spam, rudeness, insults and obvious advertising. We’re not against honest opinions of our readers!

Well Jessica I really appreciate Ur aproach and that shud b da spirut at least among all of us who belong 2 da damn rest of da segment of da world.

The 4.5 billion dollar number 1 yacht has been exposed as a hoax (fake news) for quite some time. From the photos of the interior. while it does appear very luxurious, I see no evidence of it being festooned with solid gold and platinum.

All media like to buckle repeat so-called “info” nowadays, w/o checking for reliable convergent sources. This ruins here the overall value of the article, that shall then be shortened by 1 item (#1).

“History Supreme” (what a silly name…) is of the same kind as other SH’s “productions” which appear for their most outrageous claims at least, only as digitized & photoshopped fantasies with no hint of tangible reality.

Remember “the most expensive iPhone” @ £28M, “the most expensive house” at $7.5Bn,… So stupid announcements, especially regarding the total rubbish presented.

Reign of the fake, unrealistic & impossible – and already widely exposed as such. Just check the mail exchanges revealed by Computer Choppers (a GENUINE craftman of precious tech gadgetry…)

FYI, there is a $1Bn+ yacht on offer that could replace the fake section as #1: a 145m unit that is only a project yet. Called “Admiral X-Force” and designed by Dobroserdov, MC.

Let me stay dubious until one is ordered.

You’re an idiot. It’s called hard work and significance. They should be spending money on the less fortunate? Darling, what money have YOU given to the less fortunate? Have you given millions to those in need? To veterans, kids in Africa? NO? Then shut up. just because someone chooses to spend their earnings from SERVING OTHER PEOPLE differently doesn’t mean they’re wrong. It means you’re selfish and working a job that only pays your bills and supports no one else but you and your family. Your money is a wonderful servant but a terrible master and it clearly controls you.

Hi Ashley, Why the name calling? You could just as easily be the “idiot” in this discussion. You seem to have a giving nature at heart, however me thinks thou dost protest too much, really. As you already know the truism, “with great wealth comes great responsibility.” Keep up the good work. Yachts will come, which I don’t begrudge you, although they will be decidely secondary to the goodness of your actions and of your soul?

If we add up the cost of the yachts in the article, it comes out to well over 7 billion dollars. The buyers could have just left their money sitting in a bank. THAT would have been savage. But by choosing to spend it on these yachts, they handed that 7 billion dollars over to the tens of thousands of people who designed, engineered, built, maintained, and maybe even took the pics seen in the ad. Rich people buying what they choose is what employs everybody else. How much payroll tax did the jobs involved with creating these yachts generate? Local govts can pay their fire dept and police. The kids can have their public parks – and let’s not leave out the money anyone involved may have choze to give to charity as well. Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Yacht buyer, Lear Jet owner, Mansion dweller… your money spent is our money earned.

I agree with you, completely, Jeff.

Its realy beautiful

Really beautiful! I’m buying Eclipse!

Spotted: The Best Pictures of Supermodels on Superyachts

Sofia Richie

From Cara Delevingne and Kendall Jenner to Naomi Campbell and Christy Turlington, we round-up the best pictures of supermodels on board their favourite superyachts ...

Sofia Richie, the daughter of singer-songwriter Lionel Richie, was spotted on board 91.5 metre Oceanco superyacht Tranquility . The 21 year old model, who has been featured in campaigns by Tommy Hilfiger, Michael Kors and Chanel, was invited on board with her boyfriend Scott Disick to celebrate Kylie Jenner's 22nd birthday party . After cruising the Amalfi Coast , Richie disembarked in Antibes to stay at the Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc together with the Kardashian-Jenner girls.

Elizabeth Hurley

British model Elizabeth Hurley recently spent some time on board the 27.33m Private GG . She was seen cruising the coast of Greece on board the Wally yacht, even taking to the water with the yacht's seabob. Hurley is not the only celebrity who has been spotted on  Private GG , however. In June 2018, actress Gwyneth Paltrow also chartered the yacht in Capri . She was seen on board together with Valentino Garavani, founder of fashion house Valentino.

instagram/@elizabethhurley1

Sara Sampaio

Last week, Victoria's Secret angel Sara Sampaio was spotted in Capri, Italy on board 101.5 metre Feadship Symphony . The supermodel was joined by her friend Juliana Herz and boyfriend Oliver Ripley, a British hotelier who she's been dating since 2015.

Sara posted a number of pictures to her Instagram including one of Symphony's iconic aft pool.

Shanina Shaik

Instagram/@missanniekelly

Australian model Shanina Shaik (far left) revelled in a little winter sunshine on board a yacht in Sydney in February 2019. Shaik was joined on board by a group of friends including model agent Annie Kelly, fellow model Jesinta Franklin, her husband Buddy Franklin and former AFL star Tom Derickx. The group spent the day cruising around Sydney harbour as guests of Dior Parfums and taking plenty of suitably chic snaps.

Shaik, however, is no stranger to life on board and was also spotted at sea during a break in LA in October 2017. Shaik was joined on the waves by fellow models Daniela Braga and Nadine Leopold for the weekend getaway where the girls enjoyed some unseasonal sunshine with Shaik captioning her post "It’s 105°F in LA #bikiniinfall".

Olivia Culpo

Instagram/@oliviaculpo

American model Olivia Culpo has been spotted on numerous luxury yachting vacations during the summer of 2018. She was first spotted on board in Montenegro in early June, where she was joined by friends Nabilla Benattia and Draya Michele, and took in many of this popular yachting destination's beautiful sights. Having gained a taste for the yachting lifestyle, Culpo was once again seen on board in late June, choosing 22.1 metre Sunseeker yacht Gambler for a vacation in Ibiza.

Georgia Fowler, Sadie Newman and Sara Sampaio

Instagram/@georgiafowler/@sadienewman/@sarasampaio

Model friends Georgia Fowler (left), Sadie Newman (top right) and Sara Sampaio enjoyed some time off after New York Fashion Week with a trip on board a luxury yacht in the Bahamas in February 2018. While the girls did not disclose the name of their yacht - or their exact location - images of a polished wood exterior suggest they may have chosen a classic yacht for their weekend break. The friends also packed plenty into their short trip, taking spearfishing lessons, scuba diving and, of course, sunbathing.

Sampaio has previously shown her appreciation for the yachtie lifestyle and was spotted enjoying some summer sunshine on board a yacht in the Balearic Islands in August 2017. The Victoria's Secret model was joined by a number of friends for her vacation and the group explored the waters around Mallorca, Menorca and Ibiza as well as making good use of the yacht's extensive toy box, which featured stand-up paddleboards, snorkel gear and a floating bathing platform.

Izabel Goulart

Instagram/@izabelgoulart

Former Victoria's Secret Angel Izabel Goulart made the most of some post-New Year time off with a luxury yacht cruise in her home country Brazil in January 2018. In fact, Goulart boarded not one, but two, yachts while on vacation in the Fernando de Noronha area. She first enjoyed a day trip with boyfriend Kevin Trapp, fellow PSG footballer Neymar Jnr and Neymar's girlfriend, actress Bruna Marquezine before hopping aboard a second yacht for some quality time with her mother.

Goulart is no stranger to yacht vacations and was seen on board in Mykonos in September 2017. The model was spotted enjoying the break during some downtime between the Venice Film Festival and international fashion weeks. Goulart was also spotted on a yacht in  Ibiza in summer 2016 as well as a  luxury yacht charter in Italy  in 2015 where she cruised around Porto Cervo in Sardinia. She shared much of the experience on social media - including posting an image of neighbouring superyachts such as the fashionably blue hulled yacht Madame Gu .

Alessandra Ambrosio and Ludi Delfino

Instagram/@alessandraambrosio/@ludidelfino

Former Victoria's Secret model Alessandra Ambrosio took some time off after the festive season to enjoy a winter break in her home country with fellow Brazilian models Ludi Delfino (pictured right), Aline e Duda Deboni and Gisele Coria on board a yacht in Costa Esmeralda. Located in northeastern Brazil, the friends cruised the coastline at Praia Brava or, as Delfino described it, 'Brazilian Saint Tropez'.

In July 2017 Ambrosio was spotted on a luxury yacht in Mykonos. A few weeks earlier she had been seen relaxing on a sailing yacht in Ibiza and on board in Brazil in spring 2017. She also took a yachting vacation in the Bahamas in December 2016 and stayed on board 86 metre Feadship Ecstasea  in St Tropez in July 2016. The model was joined by her fiance Jamie Mazur and their two children for the French Riviera cruise and the group made good use of the facilities on board this family-friendly yacht by taking a dip off her huge swim platform and trying out her Jet Skis.

Josephine Skriver and Jasmine Tookes

Instagram/@josephineskriver/@jastookes

Victoria's Secret models Josephine Skriver and Jasmine Tookes sailed off the beaten track in January 2018 by taking a trip to Antarctica . The pair headed out on a rugged explorer vessel (picture background left) with their boyfriends Alexander DeLeon and Juan David Borrero and, along with taking in the stunning scenery and local wildlife, showed off their adventurous sides by braving the cold and snow in swimsuits. Truly getting into the spirit of the trip, Skriver even posted an image of herself in her cabin reading Shackleton's Way: Leadership Lessons from the Great Antarctic Explorer .

However, this was not Skriver's first time on board. In August 2016 she joined fellow Danish model and TV presenter Caroline Fleming on 46.5 metre CMB Yachts Orient Star in Santorini, Greece. While Skriver only enjoyed the luxury yacht for a day, Fleming and her family indulged in an extended vacation on board the vessel enjoying her gorgeous interior, gourmet food and extensive toy box.

Vita Sidorkina

Instagram/@vitasidorkina

Victoria's Secret model Vita Sidorkina saw in the New Year in style on board a yacht in Paradise Island, Bahamas in December 2017/January 2018. Although Sidorkina did not confirm which yacht she chose for the vacation, it was clear she was in good company, with a second luxury yacht being snapped in the background of a sunset picture she shared on social media.

However, this was far from Sidorkina's first on board adventure. Following her wedding to Italian property magnate Valerio Morabito in Ravello in late July, the couple were spotted enjoying a lavish superyacht honeymoon on the Italian Riviera in August 2017 while in July 2016 Sidorkina took some time off from shooting to relax on board a luxury yacht in Cat Cay Island, Bahamas. Sidorkina shared plenty of snaps from this stunning tropical destination which was, in fact, her second superyacht vacation of the summer. In June 2016 the model spent time cruising around Capri and the Amalfi Coast on Perini Navi sailing yacht Ellen  as well as taking her pet labrador on board a superyacht in Miami in May. She also spent time on luxury yachts in Sydney, Florida, Ibiza and Greece in 2015.

Steve, Marjorie, And The Harvey Family Yacht Through St. Tropez

The Harveys are showing us what Black luxury looks like this summer with their European vacation. We last reported that Steve and Marjorie Harvey were celebrating their 17th wedding anniversary in Taormina, Italy. It looks like their kids and grandkids have joined in on the festivities as the family met up in St. Tropez, France.

Marjorie Harvey shared an image of her stunning blended family on her Instagram page.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Marjorie Harvey (@marjorie_harvey)

“Summer Vibes ☀️💕,” she captioned two images featuring the kids and grandkids. In the first picture, Marjorie and Steve were captured with Lori Harvey and two of Steve’s sons from previous marriages–Wynton and Broderick Harvey.

In the second picture, five of their grandkids were pictured on the yacht seated next to Marjorie and Steve. The TV host is often gushing over his grandkids and has even joked about them before.

“I’ve been waiting years for my kids to get out of my house. I want to be an empty nester. Now they come back to the house and they got more people with them. They always bring them over and drop them off. And I’m going ‘Now, I been talking to my girl all day long. All we been talking about was what was going to happen tonight. Then, I get to the house and here they is,” he said on his former talk show, Steve .

Some of the activities the family are enjoying on their luxe vacation include Marjorie taking a brave plunge into the sea via a gigantic slide. “I did it😂” she captioned the video of her sliding off the yacht via the slide, losing her sunglasses in the process.

Lori has been sharing snippets from her lush family vacation on her Instagram Stories. In one, Marjorie and Broderick can be seen celebrating Wynton’s birthday as hosts on their yacht danced to 50 Cent’s “In Da Club” while holding champagne bottles and sparklers.

“So much about this video has me in tears,” Lori captioned the story.

It’s been a while since we’ve seen the Harvey gang on a vacation at this level, but in the past, they’ve gone all over, from around the UAE to their favorite spot, St. Tropez, in the summer of 2023. Here’s to more luxurious travels for this fabulous family.

The 10 Most Beautiful Places In The Great Smoky Mountains

beautiful yachts photos

The magic of the Great Smoky Mountains is something every Southerner must experience at least once. And like with other Southern stalwarts (think sweet tea and fried chicken), where a taste undoubtedly leads to seconds, one trip to the Smokies always begets a return visit. If you’ve never visited the legendary mountain range that anchors the country’s most visited national park , our ultimate guide to the area is the perfect way to get your lay of the land. However, with 800 square miles to explore across two states—eastern Tennessee and western North Carolina—it’s impossible to hit each and every one of the Smokies’ high points in a single visit. Lush and green in summer; ablaze in oranges, reds, and yellow for fall; dusted with snow in winter; or brimming with wildflower blooms in spring, the Smokies are stunning in every season. First-timer or frequent visitor, these 10 beautiful places in the Great Smoky Mountains will have you reaching for your camera time and time again.

Feel enveloped in mountain majesty by visiting this scenic valley in Townsend, Tennessee that’s fully surrounded by the mountain range. An 11-mile, one-way loop road runs the entire perimeter of the valley with plenty of turn-offs that lead to hiking trails, historic homesites, picnic areas, viewpoints, and campgrounds. Note that Cades Cove Loop Road doesn't allow motor vehicles on Wednesdays from May through September, so cyclists and pedestrians can have the road all to themselves.

Mt. LeConte

Getty Images

A strenuous 11-mile roundtrip hike brings you to the top of the iconic Mt. LeConte, which rises 6,593 feet into the clouds and is the Smokies’ third highest peak. Those who are willing to take on the challenge will be rewarded with lots of photo-worthy landmarks along the Alum Cave Trail (one of several trails that’ll get you nearly to the top) like Inspiration Point, Arch Rock, and Alum Cave Bluffs. For the best experience, book one of 60 spots at the 100-year-old LeConte Lodge which features multi-room lodges and rustic cabins.

Clingmans Dome

Straddling the Tennessee-North Carolina border, Clingmans Dome is one of Great Smoky Mountains National Park’s most visited destinations. So, if you want to snag a parking spot (the lot often exceeds capacity), come early or be prepared with a backup plan. As the highest point in the Smokies, you can’t miss an opportunity to walk out onto Clingmans Dome’s circular observation tower and soak in all the beauty below.

Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail

One of the Great Smoky Mountains’ biggest draws is its accessibility. You can certainly enjoy the mountains by hiking miles and miles to summit its peaks, but you can also experience the area’s splendor from the comfort of your own car. The 5.5-mile, one-way Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail is one of the best drives in the park. Around every hairpin turn, you’ll find something new to ooh and ahh. Rushing mountain streams, historic log cabins, and dazzling color in the fall are all part of the scenery rushing by.

Blue Ridge Parkway

The Blue Ridge Mountains are one of the country’s most recognizable natural features, and the 469-mile parkway that run along their length, from Great Smoky Mountains National Park to Shenandoah National Park, is a Southern icon. The views of the Smokies from this legendary road are a picture you’re sure to replay in your head for years to come.

Laurel Falls

Take a moderately difficult 2.6-mile hike to see the 80-foot waterfall at the end of the Laurel Falls Trail. Laurel Falls features two sections that are divided by a walkway that crosses over a stream at the base of the upper falls. Visit after a hard rain for the most dramatic cascades.

Newfound Gap

Use this dip in the mountain ridge to take in the surrounding scenery. The lowest drivable pass through the national park, Newfound Gap is still nearly a mile high, so you’ll still have a great vantage point. The 34-mile road winds through several ecosystems from cove hardwood to northern hardwood to pine oak to spruce fir. Stop in the large parking area to snap some photos before you continue your drive.

Chimney Tops

Courtesy of Visit Pigeon Forge

This steep uphill climb is worth the effort for its striking views of not only Sugarland Mountain’s rocky ridgeline, but also the beautiful, wooded walk across rushing streams in a dense forest. Though the top section of the Chimney Tops Trail (along with its rocky pinnacles) are closed due to fire damage, this is still one sight worth seeing.

Abrams Falls Trail

Visit Cades Cove

Part of Cades Cove, this picturesque waterfall trail is a popular choice for adventurers looking for a moderate hike with a rewarding view at the end. At only 20 feet high, Abrams Falls’ stature isn’t its most impressive quality; however, the sheer force of water that tumbles down it is an experience to enjoy with several senses—certainly sight, but also sound and feel too.

Cataloochee Valley

Wildlife abounds in the Great Smoky Mountains. The American black bear is the universal symbol of the Smokies, but around 65 species of mammals, 200 types of birds, 67 native fish species, and more than 80 varieties of reptiles and amphibians call this area home. One of the best places to see all kinds of animals, and specifically one of the park’s two main herds of elk, is in Cataloochee Valley in Maggie Valley, North Carolina.

Minnesota Yacht Club Festival — which almost didn’t go on — draws fans from all over the Midwest

Minnesota yacht club festival.

Harriet Island was transformed into a house of music Friday and Saturday, attracting an estimated 60,000 enthusiastic rock ‘n roll fans.

“Alanis Morissette was amazing, Gwen Stefani was amazing,” exclaimed Dustin Thill, from drove from Green Bay. “Nice weather, we had no complaints.”

The inaugural Minnesota Yacht Club Festival got some big kudos from music lovers.

Chopper 5 revealing the true size of the crowd — a sea of people.   “It’s overwhelming at first, but then you get used to it,” said Brooke Bline, from Sioux City, Iowa. “It’s really fun.”

From Gen-Z to millennials… some with their kids in tow, said they were having a great time.

“Chili Peppers and the Offspring,” smiled Amanda Welder, who drove from Bismarck, North Dakota. “We love concerts.”

But the festival almost didn’t go on. That’s because the Mississippi River rose to 20 feet in early July from heavy spring rains.

Much of the venue was underwater — the eighth-highest crest ever in St. Paul.

“I was very apprehensive that it was going to go on two weeks ago,” noted Trevor Olson from Andover. “The floodwaters were basically up to the bottom of the window. Actually, I came out and scouted last Friday as to where we were going to park and stuff.”

But that was then, and this is now.

The river dropped 11 feet in two weeks.

Festival goers say the turf in viewing areas was perfectly dry.

“This was really nice,” Welder said. “The lines were short, the bathrooms were organized, the crowd was good, everything was great.”

Bline brought alone her 5-year-old daughter Winter.

It was her very first concert.

“We went to Lollapalooza one year, and so every year, she’s been asking to go,” Bline explained.

So… is all this like the state fair, or maybe Woodstock?

“I’d say a mixture of both because it’s really Minnesota nice,” she said. “Everybody’s very polite and cool. I don’t know, a good time so far.”

The city says hotels in downtown St. Paul were booked solid, and bars and restaurants were busy.

Already, organizers are taking about doing this next year.

Video: Dana White helicopters back to superyacht after Donald Trump RNC speech

2024 Republican National Convention: Day 4

Dana White has been on vacation in Italy for the past week, but that didn’t stop him from taking a quick break from his break to stump for Donald Trump at the Republican National Convention.

White has stood by Trump over the past few difficult years as court cases continue to pile up for the former US president. No matter what salacious headlines were in the news, Trump was always welcome at UFC events, where he’d get VIP treatment.

That led to White getting his own VIP placement on the RNC speaker list: he introduced Trump on the final night of the conference. During the speech, he shouted out his family for letting him disappear from their vacation. Considering the accommodations he left them with, we’re sure they’ll understand.

Dana White left vacation yesterday morning, going from boat to helicopter to private jet so he could get to Wisconsin to introduce Donald Trump at the RNC. The 377-foot yacht costs $2.8 million for the week — and he's back less than 48 hours later. Crazy pic.twitter.com/WdvBnNG3ln — Joe Pompliano (@JoePompliano) July 19, 2024

White’s Instagram featured a story showing him back in Italy and getting helicoptered to a 377-foot superyacht on the Mediterranean Sea. Not White’s yacht, though. The frugal UFC CEO merely rented the massive vessel for a cool $3 million.

That’s the kind of money you can make and spend when you build a business like UFC up from a money pit to a point where you can sell it for $4 billion. White made out pretty good on that sale even though he owned just 10% of UFC at the time. Imagine how much money he’ll make when he eventually sells Power Slap, which he says is already worth $450 million.

The bachelor: joey graziadei and kelsey anderson's engagement shoot is a bad sign for their relationship (they're trying too hard), 90 day fiancé: what michael ilesanmi's instagram reveals about his life in the u.s. after angela split.

  • Despite backlash, Joey and Kelsey celebrate engagement with stunning photos in New Orleans.
  • Confusion over post caption clarified by Kelsey: date signifies day of engagement.
  • Connection and love between Joey and Kelsey evident in new photos to dispel rumors.

The Bachelor season 28’s winning couple Joey Graziadei and Kelsey Anderson have shared some stunning new photos in an attempt to discredit the accusations that they’re trying too hard . Throughout the last few months of their relationship, Joey and Kelsey have been facing major backlash about their lives after The Bachelor season 28 . While Joey has been a Bachelor Nation favorite throughout his time in the franchise, his relationship with Kelsey came under fire after the couple announced their engagement. The backlash from Bachelor Nation hasn’t been easy to navigate, but Joey and Kelsey have been trying to stay positive.

In a new joint post, Joey and Kelsey shared some beautiful photos from a shoot they had recently to celebrate their engagement. Though the couple have been engaged since November 2023, things are finally settling down for the couple after the buzz of Bachelor Nation has kept them busy throughout the spring and the summer.

Captioned with a date and a heart, the photo post shows some stunning photos of the couple being both playful and serious throughout different locations in Kelsey’s native New Orleans, Louisiana. The photos are visibly recent, as Joey is sporting his short summer haircut.

Reality TV is more popular than ever. With so many to choose from, here are some of the best reality TV shows to stream or watch right now.

Kelsey Anderson Clarifies Instagram Post After Causing Confusion

The caption reflects the date of their engagement.

While some were aware of what the caption of Joey and Kelsey’s post meant, others were confused by the date as they weren’t sure if it was the day the couple became official, the day they met, or something else entirely. With the way The Bachelor films and airs its episodes , it’s not always clear what’s happening when especially decently after the fact. Joey and Kelsey’s caption, “11.12.23 ❤️,” had some wondering what exactly they were celebrating. Seeing people struggle in the comments, Kelsey replied to one Bachelor Nation fan and explained, “it’s the day we got engaged.”

With their new photoshoot proving just how in love the sweet couple are, the haters that have been after Joey and Kelsey’s relationship appear to be quieter than ever. Though J oey and Kelsey have been getting some negative attention , the couple have been doing their best to work through it and disprove whatever issues the masses have with them. With some rumors floating around about Joey’s financial state, a potential Dancing With The Stars appearance, and the couple having a disastrous breakup, seeing the pair together and happy is a great way to dispel all of the unexpected, difficult rumors.

Joey and Kelsey have been doing their best to live their lives despite the rumors that have been swirling about them in the aftermath of The Bachelor. Though the couple have been doing a great job at balancing their relationship being open and private at the same time, it’s clearly been difficult for them to have to keep defending themselves at every turn. For Joey and Kelsey, the struggle of post- Bachelor life has been working on keeping their relationship moving amid the stress of their public perception. The couple have been doing well after meeting on The Bachelor .

The station also has a sizable main-floor restaurant, an art gallery, and a sports hall of fame, making it a great place to visit even if you don’t have to catch a train.

Fatal shooting of homeless man raises security questions about out-of-state police at RNC

MILWAUKEE – They called him Jehovah.

An unhoused man who one acquaintance described as a “beautiful person,” he lived in one of Milwaukee’s tent encampments and was well known by people in the neighborhood around King Park. They would often see him walking his dog and carrying a Bible.

The man, identified by a cousin as Samuel Sharpe Jr., was shot and killed Tuesday by five police officers from Columbus, Ohio, working as part of the city's security efforts surrounding the Republican National Convention . Body camera video released by authorities showed he was brandishing a knife.

The shooting happened less than a mile from the security perimeter of the convention, which is unfolding amid heightened security following a gunman’s attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump at a rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday.

Authorities said the fatal shooting in Milwaukee is unrelated to the convention. But for some residents of the neighborhood, it raises questions about the decision to bring out-of-state police officers into the city to help provide policing for the event.

A Milwaukee police officer “would have known, no, no, no this is King Park, this is a known area for homeless to camp out, lots of folks with mental disabilities in here, tread carefully, de-escalate,” said Milwaukee Alderman Robert Bauman, who represents the district where the shooting happened.

Out-of-state officers are “in unfamiliar territory and they don’t know King Park from Central Park,” he said.

Columbus police are bringing the five officers involved in the shooting back home, but the other 35 officers the city sent are remaining in Milwaukee, Brian Steel, president of the Fraternal Order of Police Capital City Lodge No. 9, said at a news conference in Ohio.

Steel said the victim was waving knives at other people and/or police when Columbus officers shot him. Steel said he didn’t know if the officers had tried to use de-escalation measures or a stun gun before shooting the man.

Thirteen Columbus police officers were in the area for a briefing when they saw an altercation between two people, one of whom was holding a knife in each hand, according to preliminary information provided by Milwaukee Police Chief Jeffrey Norman late Tuesday.

The officers ordered the man to drop the knives, he said. The man did not, and then suddenly charged at the other individual, which is when police opened fire, Norman said.

Body-camera video footage and still frames released late Tuesday by Columbus police show the man was still armed with the knives, and lunging toward another man, at the time of the shooting. Police shot him multiple times, killing him, the video shows.

Two knives were recovered at the scene, the chief said.

Norman strongly defended the out-of-state officers involved in the shooting.

"Someone's life was in danger," he said. "These officers who are not from this area took upon themselves to act to save someone's life today."

Columbus Mayor Andrew J. Ginther said the body-worn camera footage "shows that Columbus' officers in accordance with their training to prevent physical harm to a potential victim."

"Columbus officers were guests in Milwaukee, but they take an oath to protect and serve, wherever and whenever they are called to service," the mayor said.

'I don't understand this': Neighbors critical of out-of-state cops

Police have yet to identify the victim, but a first cousin, Linda Sharpe, told reporters at the scene that he was Samuel Sharpe Jr., who was known by the nickname “Jehovah.”

Eddie Johnson, 55, a friend of the victim, said he was a "beautiful person" who was known to walk his dog and carry a Bible.

"I don't understand this," Johnson said. "He didn't deserve that."

Sharpe stayed at a tent encampment on 14th and Vliet streets, a block away from a temporary shelter set up by the county for people displaced by the Republican convention, said Stephen Bauer, CEO of the Guest House of Milwaukee shelter.

Shelly Sarasin of Street Angels, an outreach group that provides materials for unhoused people staying at the tent encampment, was at a loss for why the Columbus police were in the area.

"Our Milwaukee police officers know about this camp and know about the people staging there and understand the issues that go along with experiencing homelessness," she said. "He didn’t have to be shot… by an officer who wasn’t from here."

Aurelia Ceja of the Milwaukee Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression criticized that out-of-state police were involved. The group had planned a vigil for late Tuesday.

Vaun Mayes, a prominent community activist, said he was concerned with the plan to bring non-Milwaukee police from “red states” who may not be familiar with Milwaukee communities. He did not think the shooting would’ve happened if it had been Milwaukee police. Mayes is familiar with the neighborhood from his work and dealing with its homeless population. He has successfully de-escalated fights in the area, he said.

Thousands of additional cops in Milwaukee for RNC

Before the convention, Milwaukee officials estimated about 4,000 officers from law enforcement agencies outside the city would take part in policing the city this week.

Milwaukee police had said they intended to assign outside officers to positions that are not public-facing − such as traffic control − while Milwaukee officers would have primary contact with members of the community. Any assignments given to outside officers were supposed to include at least one Milwaukee police officer, according to the mutual aid agreement.

On Tuesday, Norman said Milwaukee police had provided briefings to visiting officers when they arrived. During the short news conference, he did not provide more details about the duties of the outside officers or any supervision the Milwaukee Police Department had over them.

Outside officers in the city providing mutual aid for the convention are required to follow the Milwaukee Police Department's standard operating procedures on the use of force, crowd control and rules of engagement.

According to an agreement signed by partner agencies, any disciplinary matters that arise with an outside officer will be referred to the home agency.

Milwaukee homeless shelter expanded services for RNC

Jehovah was familiar by a different name to Mike Bertram, ministry director for Capuchin Community Services, which runs the St. Ben's Community Meal, a nightly meal for the homeless and hungry.

St. Ben’s has expanded its services this week to be open as a day and overnight shelter to give homeless individuals a safe, cool place to stay as the Republican National Convention may displace some people from their usual spot.

Before the convention, Bertram publicly offered St. Ben’s staff to defuse any conflicts between homeless individuals and police near the security perimeter. In light of the shooting, he’s hoping that more officers reach out.

"We’re here, we’re willing to help in any way that we can," he said.

Near the park at 14th and Vliet, where aging trees shade the grassy slope of King Park as it rises away from the street, Street Angels has been running a free shower program.

Sharpe showered there Monday, the day before the last day of his life.

"He told us he loved us like 10 times before he left," Sarasin recalled. "He had an appreciation for what he had . … No one expected it would be like this."

After the shooting, Sarasin watched police take away Sharpe's dog, Ices.

His only companion, she said, no longer has his friend.
