Experienced sailors value the added safety that comes with good sailing performance. The ability to sail off a lee shore, shorten a passage to within the available weather window, and safely maneuver through heavy seas are all features that make Outbound Yachts some of the best cruising sailboats in the world. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Bluewater 56

Proven Frers design, built by the same yard that builds Outbound Yachts

outbound yachts for sale

The Bluewater 56 may look familiar to you, as it is the same proven Frers design that was originally developed for Hylas, of which 27 boats were built. Bluewater Yachts acquired the tooling and are now building them at the same yard that builds Outbound Yachts. In fact, hull #1 debuted as an Outbound 56 in the 2019 Annapolis Sailboat Show, and in December of 2020 hull #2 was commissioned which is now called the Bluewater 56.

The Bluewater 56 features a proper offshore bow entry and hull shape which deliver swiftness, power and stability, while maximizing space down below. There is more than ample room for a luxurious owner’s suite aft, beautifully finished in hand-chosen woods. Offshore comfort is further enhanced by the way the hulls are built, the Twaron aramid fiber yields “bullet-proof” strength for added safety.

Experienced sailors will appreciate this well behaved and easily driven yacht, not just for her speed but for the safety that comes with performance and control. This also reduces fatigue on offshore passages and ensure a well rested crew. Anyone who steps aboard the Bluewater 56 will also appreciate the high level of craftsmanship and attention to detail that went into building the boat, combined with the well thought out and spacious design ensures that time aboard is time well spent.

Swiftsure Yachts

Cruising World magazine called the Outbound 46, “An elegant blend of sensibility and sophistication.” Designed by renowned naval architect Carl Schumacher and built to the highest standards of sailing yacht construction,  Impala will take you comfortably across any ocean. Her solid fiberglass construction offers the displacement required to give the yacht an easy and forgiving motion, but her lines and parameters define that performance… long waterline, moderate beam, high righting moment, proper weight distribution and efficient foils. An elegant hand-crafted American cherry interior, semi-raised salon that fills the cabin with natural light, comfortable accommodations and superb load carrying capability will ensure your comfort whether you plan to head out for an evening sail or a long offshore passage.

Impala  is in impressive condition, having only been sailed lightly in Pacific Northwest waters since new. Her cabin sole varnish gleams. Systems show minimal corrosion and wear. Compartments and behind the scenes areas are clean and tidy. See detailed photos of these areas in this listing. Impala must be compared to boats much newer in age.

Recent Iverson’s Designs dodger and bimini and Hood Sails stack pack mainsail cover – 800 watt solar array – 600 amp hour lithium battery bank with Victron inverter/charger and Balmar high output alternator – Side Power bow thruster – Webasto hydronic heat – Frigoboat refrigerator and freezer – like new dinghy and outboard hung on Outbound Yachts stainless dinghy davits

Interior Accommodations

Impala’s  interior is beautifully finished in American cherry with satin varnish. All hatches and screens are finished this way as well. The cabin sole is thick teak and holly over plywood. Locking drawers and cabinets can be secured. Large salon windows fill the living areas with natural light. Opening ports and hatches with screens provide excellent ventilation. There are plenty of handholds to make passage easy and safer when the seas kick up or you are heeling over. She can sleep six comfortably in two separate cabins and the salon.

The  master stateroom  is located at the forward end of the boat. The comfortable pullman berth is on the port side. Drawers below the berth provide excellent storage space. There is a hinged space outboard to port for additional storage. Above the berth is a full length shelf with sliding doors. Opposite to starboard are two large lockers, divided in the center by a bureau of five drawers, including a vanity and mirror. Forward of this cabin is the private head with separate shower stall.

The  main salon  is aft of the master stateroom. There is a seven foot long U-shaped dinette to port with a drop leaf table with a straight settee to port. The mid-section of the backrest of the starboard settee drops down to become a small table perfect for playing cards or having a drink. There is a wine cabinet behind this table. Bookshelves with adjacent lockers are above and behind both settees. The settee coverts into a generous sea berth when underway. The battery bank and inverter charger is accessed beneath the starboard settee. Cushions are covered blue ultra-suede fabric in excellent condition. There are lee cloths available as well.

The  U-shaped galley  is located to port and aft of the main salon and includes Corian counters, forward facing double stainless sink and Scanvik faucets. There is a dish storage rack above the sinks. There are two large access hatches to the fridge and freezer on the port side as well as a three-burner gimballed Force 10 stove with oven. There is generous storage including a pantry with generous open storage and two deep drawers behind the navigation station.

Across from the galley to starboard is the  navigation station . Situated adjacent to the companionway, the navigator will be in close proximity to those on watch allowing communication with the helm. The top opening chart table easily accommodates all the necessary navigation equipment. There are drawers and lockers for tools, winch handles and binoculars. The Raymarine E-120 radar/chartplotter screen is here as well as VHF radio. The electrical panel is on the aft side of the nav area and allows for full access to the back and wiring.

The  guest stateroom  is aft of the navigation station and is comprised of a comfortable double berth. Louvered lockers are above and outboard of the berth with additional storage in cabinets along the aft bulkhead. There is a large hanging locker a bookshelf as well as two drawers below the berth. Hatches and ports provide light and ventilation including into the cockpit.

Aft of the galley on the port side is the aft head finished in molded surfaces that are easy to clean and impervious to moisture. This head is close to the companionway for excellent access to the on watch crew or storage of foul weather gear. The stainless steel sink is set into a counter and there is a mirror above. The integral shower is handy to the aft cabin on the opposite side of the companionway. There is also internal access to the garage from this head.

Hull and Deck

The Outbound 46 design was conceived for serious offshore cruising. Each Outbound Yacht is constructed of 100% hand-laid fiberglass with a massive system of stringers, longitudinals and bulkheads that are carefully bonded directly to the hull while still in the mold. Laminates are increased in high stress areas and in the bow and bilge for added strength. Bi-axial cloth adds to the overall impact resistance and outer layers of vinylester resin protect against osmotic blistering. Ashland Maz-Guard premium ISO-NPGH gelcoat is used to protect the laminate and provide a superior gloss for years. To eliminate keel bolt troubles, the hull and keel are molded as a single lamination. After the deck is through bolted and sealed to the hull with 3M 5200 sealant, the bulkheads are fiberglassed on their entire perimeter, not just screwed in place. All furniture is then carefully bonded to the hull adding to the structural support system.

The  deck  is cored with balsa and vacuum bagged with the core materials removed and replaced with solid fiberglass and stainless backing plates in critical areas. There are removable overheard access panels throughout to get to deck hardware. Pushpit, pulpit and mast rails are oversized 1.5” stainless tubing. Lifelines are taller than average at 30”, with a solid handrail leading from the boarding gates aft. There are stainless handrails on the cabin top and padeyes to connect jacklines and harnesses. Mooring cleats are 12” stainless, suitable for a large ocean-going yacht. There are ten stainless steel opening ports and eight Lewmar hatches. Four dorade vents and Nicro solar fans provide plenty of ventilation.

The  cockpit  is a safe and comfortable place whether driving the boat in a gale or resting in a placid anchorage. The long seats provide plenty of room for entertaining, sleeping outside or sunbathing. Most importantly, the cockpit is deep and narrow with seat backs ergonomically designed for maximum comfort. For safety and comfort, the Outbound 46 was designed to make moving about the cockpit and cabin as easy as possible. The three step companionway allows easy transit from cockpit to salon without having to use a steep and long ladder. Forward of the companionway is a molded sea hood with integral instrument panel and large coaming for attaching the dodger. A walk thru transom with boarding platform and fold down swim ladder make access to the dinghy and water easy. And there is a built in liferaft storage container accessible to the cockpit and platform.

Excellent stowage and load carrying capacity are designed into the Outbound’s hull and deck. 200 gallons of water and 180 gallons of fuel are stored in integral fiberglass tanks beneath the cabin sole which aids in upwind sailing performance and opens space under the settees and bunks for other stowage. There is a large foredeck locker at the bow, separated from the cabin by a watertight bulkheadand accessed from on deck. The locker also offers standup access to the anchor locker and makes stowing an asymmetrical spinnaker a breeze. In addition to the forward locker there is a giant cockpit lazarette, a large propane locker and access to the “garage” aft of the after head.

A full boat cover for off season storage is included in the sale.
