It’s been a big year for The Boathouse Group. The Sydney hospitality group closed its Palm Beach Boathouse location, opened a summer pop-up at Barrenjoey House called Casa, and on September 1, a new permanent venue, The Boathouse CYCA .

Located on the harbour foreshore at Rushcutters Bay, The Boathouse CYCA will offer breakfast, an all-day lunch and dinner menu and a bar, as well as play host to events.

The menu was designed by The Boathouse Group Executive Chef James Brownrigg, and features fresh, coastal dishes inspired by Mediterranean cuisine, like grilled barramundi, fish and chips and taramasalata, served alongside charred Turkish bread. Pizza, schnitzels and burgers will also be offered.

The Boathouse CYCA

The CYCA, short for Cruising Yacht Club of Australia, is one of Sydney’s most-known yacht clubs, around for 80 years. It’s also the home to the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race.

Antony Jones, CEO of The Boathouse Group, says the groups’ venues are known for their picturesque waterfront settings so the CYCA was the perfect fit. This will be the first time the group will operate out of an existing venue, taking over as the hospitality partner.

“The key difference will be working alongside the team at CYCA to ensure our offering aligns with their club ethos and, most importantly, is well-received by the members and their guests,” says Jones.

The Boathouse CYCA

Like other The Boathouse spots, The Boathouse CYCA will include plenty of plants, lobster-pot ceiling pendants and other nautical décor details. The design was looked after by Laura Patterson, The Boathouse Gorup Manager for Interior Design and Venue Presentation, who also worked on the relaunch of the Manly Pavilion.

As for how to best experience The Boathouse CYCA, Jones suggests you might arrive by boat if you’re coming from another part of Sydney.

The Boathouse CYCA

“It’s magnificent puttering into Rushcutters Bay and through the yachts in the marina, then being dropped right in front of the CYCA,” he says. “Then, grab a picnic table on the deck, so you’re as close to the water as possible and order a round of cold drinks, as well as some of our smaller shared plates to get started.”

His picks for starters? The house bread, which is served charred with flaky sea salt, taramasalata, beef carpaccio, calamari fritti and tiger prawns, which are served in a bowl.

“I would then grab some larger plates to share with your group, such as the barramundi, which is served with artichoke, preserved lemon and fennel; eggplant parmigiana layered with stracciatella; and a prawn flatbread,” he says.

The Boathouse CYCA

“Plus, I’d ordered some hot chips and salad. After the meal, I would take the opportunity to soak up the history of the club through the memorabilia, then have a stroll around Rushcutters Bay foreshore to walk off lunch. What a day out!”

Yacht Clubs in Sydney: A Comprehensive Guide

Bill Michaels

The History of Yacht Clubs in Sydney

Yachting has a rich history in Sydney, Australia, dating back to the early 1800s when ship captains would race their boats for sport. The first organized yacht race was held in 1858, and the Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron was established in 1862. Today, Sydney is home to many prestigious yacht clubs, each with its unique history and culture.

The Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron

The Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron is one of the oldest and most prestigious yacht clubs in Australia. Established in 1862, the club has a long history of hosting international regattas and events. The club’s stunning clubhouse is situated on the shores of Sydney Harbour, providing members with stunning views of the city skyline.

The Cruising Yacht Club of Australia

The Cruising Yacht Club of Australia was established in 1944 and is located in Rushcutters Bay, Sydney. The club is best known for hosting the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race, one of the world’s most challenging offshore race s. Members of the club are active in cruising, racing, and social events, making it a popular choice for yachting enthusiasts.

The Benefits of Joining a Yacht Club

Yacht clubs offer many benefits to members, both on and off the water. Here are just a few of the advantages of joining a yacht club in Sydney:

Access to Facilities and Equipment

Most yacht clubs provide members with access to a range of facilities and equipment, including boat storage, maintenance services, and training. This can be particularly beneficial for new yachting enthusiasts who may not have access to their equipment or expertise.

Networking Opportunities

Yacht clubs provide an excellent opportunity to network with other like-minded individuals who share a passion for yachting. Members of yacht clubs often form close bonds and friendships, both on and off the water.

Social Events

Yacht clubs are not just about racing and sailing. They also provide members with access to a range of social events, from formal dinners to casual barbecues. These events are a great way to meet new people and expand your social circle.

Choosing the Right Yacht Club in Sydney

With so many yacht clubs to choose from in Sydney, it can be challenging to decide which one is right for you. Here are some factors to consider when selecting a yacht club:

The location of the yacht club is an essential factor to consider, particularly if you plan to sail regularly. Look for a club that is close to your home or workplace and has easy access to the water.

The facilities offered by the yacht club should also be a consideration. Look for a club that provides members with access to boat storage, maintenance services, and training.

Every yacht club has its unique culture and atmosphere. Some clubs are more focused on racing, while others are more social. Consider what type of club culture will suit you best.

Yacht Club Membership Fees

Membership fees for yacht clubs in Sydney can vary significantly, depending on the club’s facilities and services. Some clubs offer different levels of membership, with varying fees and benefits. It is essential to review a club’s fee structure carefully before joining to ensure that it is within your budget.

Joining a yacht club in Sydney can be an excellent way to connect with like-minded individuals and explore your passion for yachting. With so many clubs to choose from, it’s important to consider the location, facilities, and culture of each club before making a decision. Whether you are a seasoned sailor or new to the world of yachting, there is sure to be a yacht club in Sydney that is perfect for you.

Ahead of its 80th anniversary in 2024, Rushcutters Bay’s Cruising Yacht Club of Australia (the home of the Sydney-Hobart Yacht Race) has introduced a waterfront venue by The Boathouse Group.

The Boathouse CYCA kicks things off with simple satisfying breakfasts, followed by a Mediterranean-influenced lunch and dinner menu with calamari fritti, orecchiette with crab and chilli, and taramasalata with charred flatbreads fresh from the pizza oven.

Crowd-pleasing staples like burgers, fish and chips, steaks, and Boathouse’s beloved prawns with seafood sauce and fish tacos also feature.

A perfect spot to watch the sun set over the bay, The Boathouse CYCA’s drinks menu covers a diverse wine list with local and international producers, Boathouse’s signature coastal cocktails and a wide range of tap beers.

The Boathouse Group’s signature coastal-chic styling flows throughout the 300-person space, with lobster pot pendant lights, natural seashell elements, and plenty of sailing memorabilia.

Under the Registered Clubs Act, The Boathouse CYCA is open to members, guests of members, and non-members who reside five kilometres or more from the club.

The Cruising Yacht Club by AJ+C

AJ+C successfully led the redevelopment of The Cruising Yacht Club of Australia. The club’s design combines modern and classic features in its traditional location on the Rushcutters Bay foreshore.

The Cruising Yacht Club by AJ+C

The Club engaged AJ+C for the refurbishment for the new clubhouse. The client wanted to improve the clubhouse facilities to provide increased benefit to CYCA members, guests of members, visitors to the club, and staff. The last major renovation of the club house facilities occurred in 1998/9 to coincide the expected demands from the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games.

The Cruising Yacht Club by AJ+C

The new Clubhouse, with improved accessibility, increased space and flow, and enhanced comfort, is sure to delight both Members and guests. The refurbished CYCA Clubhouse combines everything people loved in the old building history-filled trophy cabinets and sailing memorabilia and great views, but with the comfort, convenience and safety features expected today.

The Cruising Yacht Club by AJ+C

The design provides a more contemporary and sophisticated look and feel whilst at the same time responding to its location by the water and adjoining park. From the entrance – where a five-tonne CYCA-branded concrete-carved hull anchors the reception desk – contemporary finishes in a monochromatic palette referencing sailing motifs give way on the upper level to a warmer, classic selection of materials with spotted gum timber wall panelling, joinery, and brass fittings akin to the interior of a luxury yacht. The new-look CYCA Clubhouse also features the latest technology and improvements that highlight the Club’s commitment to a more sustainable future with energy-efficient LED lighting, kitchen and bar equipment. Topping off the refurbishment, literally, are the solar panels to reduce the ever-increasing electricity costs.

CYCA has been awarded the International Clean Marina and Fish Friendly accreditations

CYCA Commodore Arthur Lane and MIA CEO Suzanne Davies

Cruising Yacht Club of Australia awarded International Clean Marina and Fish Friendly accreditations

The Cruising Yacht Club of Australia (CYCA) has been awarded the International Clean Marina and Fish Friendly accreditations following a rigorous independent environmental audit.

Home of the classic Rolex Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race, the marina is located on Sydney Harbour in Rushcutters Bay and is home to over 200 boats, including many offshore racing yachts. The 78th Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race saw 103 yachts take the start line on Boxing Day 2023 to embark on a relentless test of determination, as well as physical and mental resilience. The 2023 race was a resounding success and one of the closest in history with two boats battling it out to cross the finish line within seconds of each other.

Suzanne Davies MIA CEO visited the club to present the flags to Commodore Arthur Lane and commented, “Congratulations to the CYCA on this achievement and on all its proactive environmental initiatives. It is great to see clubs like the CYCA promoting itself as an environmental champion to its community. It is a great way to get everyone thinking more about environmental best practice.”

CYCA has been awarded the International Clean Marina and Fish Friendly accreditations

The CYCA is proud to have introduced a number of measures to limit the Club’s environmental footprint as part of an ongoing sustainability initiative. The Club and its members enjoy a natural affinity with the ocean and as such it makes sense to commit to ensuring the protection of the natural environment. These initiatives include over 100 rooftop solar panels, the installation of six SeaBins, installation of sensor lighting and the removal of single use plastics.

On presentation of the Clean Marina accreditation, Arthur Lane, Commodore of CYCA responded, “We’re so proud of this acknowledgement of our efforts and extend our appreciation to our members, guests, and crews for their commitment to the Club’s sustainability initiatives. We will continue to pursue the highest standards in environmental management at the CYCA and congratulate the MIA for promoting best practices around Australia.”

The Clean Marina program helps marinas to evaluate their environmental processes and puts systems in place to regularly check operations to ensure they are compliant, and that all documentation is up to date. It also aims to inform consumers of the marina’s commitment to environmentally responsible practices and to provide marina operators with a set of standards and benchmarks to maintain. The Fish Friendly accreditation has been developed to inform marina managers on how to maximise the benefits for fish and to recognise those operators actively working to improve fish habitats.

Andrew Chapman, MIA President explained, “There are over 60 participating marinas in Australia and around the Pacific region. We are thrilled to see them being recognised with the Clean Marinas and Fish Friendly accreditations. We encourage all marinas to get on board with the programs to promote continued environmental responsibility by all who enjoy our country’s wonderful waterways.”

Beautiful boat

Very impressed with the quality of this boat. The spec is top of the line and we'll maintained. The toilets are fresh & clean. The route on the river through Moscow takes in many of the iconic sites of Moscow and is a great introduction. The food was nice. Wide selection. Service was pleasant. Get the iPod with audio for some interesting commentary. I recommend the 2 1/2 hour trip.

Dear GrantHay, thank you for the feedback about your cruise on the yacht "Radisson Royal". Flotilla “Radisson Royal” has 10 perfectly equipped yachts designed for year-round entertaining excursion cruises on the Moscow River with restaurant service aboard. Our company organizes cruises 365 days a year. We will be glad to see you again on Board our yachts! Best regards, Olga Tkacheva, brand-Manager.

We had it today. Nice views and a fun way to see the city. We also had some pasta and drinks, which were ok. Service was very nice. Shame we didn't know that the tour from Gorky Park is just half way - lasts about 1.5 hour. If we knew we would start at Ukraina hotel.

Dear Paweł S, thank you for the feedback about your cruise on the yacht "Radisson Royal". Flotilla “Radisson Royal” has 10 perfectly equipped yachts designed for year-round entertaining excursion cruises on the Moscow River with restaurant service aboard. Our company organizes cruises 365 days a year. The standard return route from Gorky Park Pier to Hotel Ukraina Pier lasts two and a half hours with the pivot closer to the business center "Moscow-city" to the Kotelnicheskaya embankment without any stops. On weekends the departure time is at four p.m. and eight p.m. The boarding starts thirty minutes before the departure.

When I got on Radisson's cruise boats, I thought that it's a normal, boring river cruise, but 10 minutes later I found out I was totally wrong. What a beautiful view of the historical buildings of Moscow!!!! The statue that hung in the middle of Moskva River is amasing. Service is acceptable and waiters/waitresses are freindly and the food is in good quality.

Hello, dear Milad1987! Thank you for the feedback about your cruise on the yacht "Radisson Royal". Flotilla “Radisson Royal” has 10 perfectly equipped yachts designed for year-round entertaining excursion cruises on the Moscow River with restaurant service aboard. Our company organizes cruises 365 days a year. Come on our thematic cruises and food festivals, you will discover still a lot. Let you offer a First class, respectable interiors, the attention of the stewards, privacy and comfort. And Royal-class – for anyone who knows how to relax, every Thursday, Friday and Saturday – live music. We will be glad to see you again on Board our yachts! Best regards, Olga Tkacheva, brand-Manager.

Went with business group on dinner cruise, with guide. Really enjoyed the views after dark - seeing Red Square/The Kremlin from this vantage was great. And being on the top deck to view with no obstructions was worth the cold wind ! Kind of hard to eat and see the views at the same time, but the food was nothing special so we focused on the views. Service fine but not notable. Guide might as well have been a pre-recorded piece as there was no attempt to engage us - and it was hard to tell what building or view she was referring to as she just sort of looked in the direction of the item and spoke with monotone voice. Go for the views, not the food or service.

Hello, dear lbes! Thank you for the feedback about your cruise on the yacht "Radisson Royal". Unfortunately, due to the nature of the rolling stock, the menu is presented on the yacht, may not be as diverse and exquisite in the filing, copyright in stationary restaurants. We will be glad to see you again on Board our yachts! Best regards, Olga Tkacheva, brand-Manager.

Great boat ride - see all the sights. The food is way better than you expect on a riverboat. This is a great 3 hour ride through Moscow with too many sights and views to name individually - take your camera!

Hello, dear TimT1947! Thank you for your feedback about Flotilla Radisson Royal. It’s very important for us to know the opinion of each guest. Our company organizes cruises 365 days a year. Ice class of yachts allows not stop navigation in winter: they move on the ice so smoothly and quietly that only the changing landscapes of Moscow historical centre can remind you that you are in the cruise. We will be glad to see you again on Board our yachts! Best regards, Olga Tkacheva, brand-Manager.

It would be great to arrive before departure time inorder to enjoy your dinner. And spend the rest of the trip enjoying the scenic views. Our waiter was a gentleman. He spoke broken English. But he made great effort to explain some of the important buildings as we passed by. He made sure that our little girl was treated like a princess. If we travel back to Moscow we will have a day trip and an evening trip. We selected the Royal class.

Hello, Ameena S! Thank you for your feedback about your cruise on the yacht "Radisson Royal" . Flotilla “Radisson Royal” has 10 perfectly equipped yachts designed for year-round entertaining excursion cruises on the Moscow River with restaurant service aboard. Introducing our new-look Clubhouse

After its nine-month make-over, the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia’s new-look Clubhouse is now open for business. The club’s sleek new home combines modern and classic features in its traditional location on the Rushcutters Bay foreshore.

The new Clubhouse, with improved accessibility, increased airflow and a whole new level of comfort, is sure to delight both Members and guests.

Designed by Allen Jack+Cottier and built by Belmadar, the refurbished CYCA Clubhouse combines everything people loved in the old building – history-filled trophy cabinets and sailing memorabilia and great views, but with the comfort, convenience and safety features expected today.

Even before entering the building, the new-look CYCA makes a bold statement on New Beach Road with an increased use of glass and windows, but at the same time sympathises with its location by the water and adjoining park. The refurbished Club laps up more of the view over yachts’ masts and across the harbour than ever before.

From the entrance – where a five-tonne CYCA-branded concrete-carved hull-like façade proudly adorns the reception desk – to the spotted-gum feature walls and stairs, no area has been overlooked in this comprehensive and impressive refurbishment.

“The new Clubhouse is all about a more comfortable and inviting experience for our Members and guests,” CYCA CEO Karen Grega says.

“Since May 2017 the Club and its Members have been inconvenienced in various ways by the refurbishments of both the Clubhouse and the John Messenger Building, but hopefully now everyone will think it’s all been worth it.

“We believe Members will have real pride in showing off their ‘new’ Clubhouse and be our greatest ambassador in growing our sailing membership.”

The ground floor is modern and sophisticated, with a new layout maximising space and improving the traffic flow in lighter and brighter surrounds. The once-centrally-located kitchen is now in a back-of-house location to maximise the ground-floor views.

The Rani Room is now a dual-purpose zone, with operable walls able to transform the layout from a completely open area to a private function space.

The adjacent Sydney Hobart Bar has been reconfigured with an acoustic ceiling improving the ambience of the space. The look and feel is more sophisticated with a fibreglass boat-shaped bar front, polished concrete flooring and a new contemporary lighting plan, but at the same time practical with the increased length of the bar to service thirsty sailors after a major regatta. The bar features 32 taps across two stations with carbon-fibre beer fonts. And the crew bag pigeon holes haven’t been missed off the list.

The polished-concrete look extends onto the upper deck with its all-weather, operable, slat-roof structure which includes clear drop-down sides and heaters to maximise the usage of this area in all conditions.

rushcutters bay cruising yacht club

The lower deck is dog friendly (dogs must be leashed) and now also includes a disabled access ramp.

The once-central external staircase is no longer and replaced by a less-intrusive structure on the park side of the building.

Adjacent to the Sydney Hobart Bar is the new ‘Café 44’, servicing Members and guests and operated by Blond Catering. The café also includes a service window for users of Rushcutters Bay.

Climbing the spotted-gum timber stairs to the Members-only area, contemporary finishes give way to a warmer, classic selection of materials with carpet and brass fittings, but still with sailing-type features.

The Coasters Retreat Bar features a 440kg marble front and striking brass beer fonts.

The Members-only space is divided by a double-sided fireplace which now offers a quiet and more relaxed lounge environment to the right, with an archives/reading space where the old Club Board Room used to be.

Sound proofing has been a major focus upstairs to maximise the use of each of four rooms. Both the new glass sliding to maximise the water views and the operable walls dividing the Freya and Morna rooms have been acoustically treated, in addition to the new acoustic ceilings throughout.

Two additional windows have been installed on the park side of the building, with vistas across both the marina and the park.  The new space adjacent to the Freya Room doubles as a flexible training room for our Youth Sailing Academy and an additional function and race briefing space.

Adjoining the training room is a furniture storage area and catering office. In the upstairs back-of-house area the existing kitchen and cold room have been expanded and upgraded to more adequately cater for Club functions.

Disabled access bathrooms are now located on both the ground and first floor.

JANUS et Cie furniture features prominently throughout the new Clubhouse. The Coasters Retreat bar stools are hand-woven by a master weaver in Indonesia who works exclusively for JANUS et Cie. The ‘Brook Trout’ design on the cushions are the brain-child of CEO Janice Feldman – who, after a trip to Australia, was so impressed by the skin on the trout she caught on a fishing trip that she turned it into her newest design. All furniture throughout the Club is made from aircraft-grade aluminium and marine grade.

The new-look CYCA Clubhouse also features the latest technology and improvements that highlight the Club’s commitment a more sustainable future with energy-efficient LED lighting, kitchen and bar equipment. Topping off the refurbishment, literally, are the solar panels to reduce the ever-increasing electricity costs.

The newly refurbished CYCA Clubhouse will have an official opening on Saturday 27 October at 5pm.

18 October marks the new Clubhouse’s ‘soft’ opening, with our official unveiling on Saturday 27 October – we still have a number of small tasks to undertake and appreciate your understanding during this time.

8 Yacht Clubs and Marinas in the Philippines to Moor Your Boat In

Yacht Clubs and Marinas

FoodfindsAsia.com | 8 Yacht Clubs and Marinas in the Philippines to Moor Your Boat In | Filipinos’ history as a maritime people date back to prehistoric times. In fact, the Philippines’ basic sociopolitical unit today, the barangay, traces its etymological origins to the balangay , the ancient outrigger boats that were used by precolonial Filipino communities to explore and conquer islands this side of the Pacific. As a people belonging to a seafaring culture, it’s no wonder that modern Filipinos are taking a retrospective look at their glorious past as Austronesian mariners and are developing a renewed love for the ocean and marinas as present-day yachtsmen.

Today, Philippine marinas look to accommodate more and more yachts and other pleasure watercrafts as the years go by. In 2017, an ASEAN Briefing op-ed piece named the Philippines as a country with high potential in yacht industry growth. The natural beauty of the Philippine islands and its fantastic bays, combined with a growing interest in leisurely sea travel, can explain the spike in yachting activities throughout the country.

Are you part of the demographic that’s become enamored of the yachting lifestyle? Do you want to know where in the country you can berth your watercraft? Leading sailboat and motorboat authority Europa Yachts is happy to enter the conversation, and recommends the following locations for discovering the Philippines through yachting. Here is a short list of clubs and marinas in the country, organized by island region.

Manila Yacht Club and Marina, Manila, Metro Manila

Established in 1927, the Manila Yacht Club and Marina is one of the oldest yacht clubs in all of Asia, and is nestled in the scenic Manila Bay. It is also near other well-known landmarks in the city, such as the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP), the headquarters of the Philippine Navy, and the US Embassy. Facilities in the marina include a launching ramp and a fueling center, and the club itself is host to a restaurant and gorgeous function rooms. The Manila Yacht Club only welcomes visitors who arrive by boat, and it charges an initial security deposit of USD 750 upon arrival. Club membership is mandatory for medium and long-term mooring of boats.

Subic Bay Yacht Club, Zambales

The Subic Bay Yacht Club, which was founded in 1998, upholds itself as the country’s premier yacht club. It operates in the deepest bay in the country, and can host vessels well beyond 50 meters in length. Already benefitting from the innate beauty of the Zambales mountains surrounding it, the club hosts a number of other attractions, including its luxury accommodations, swimming pools, and its own movie theater, bowling alley, and nightclub. Those who venture outside of the club’s premises can also shop for well-priced imported goods at the Subic Freeport Zone, engage in water sports , or sign up for diving excursions.

Punta Fuego Yacht Club, Batangas

Peaceful Punta Fuego is a mecca for those who love the sport of sailing. As per its official website, the Punta Fuego Yacht Club aims to serve “a dynamic and vibrant community of boat enthusiasts and yacht owners.” This it does by playing host to a diverse population of watercrafts, from large catamarans and mono-hull yachts to small boats. Non-members of the club may use the berths for up to 3 weeks, and can refuel at the marina’s fueling station. The yacht club offers other amenities such as locker rooms, shower rooms, Internet facilities, a chart room, and a restaurant called Barracuda Bar, which serves delicious fares. Outside of the yachting crowd, Punta Fuego Yacht Club also caters to those wishing to celebrate weddings, conferences, and corporate events in their opulent quarters.

Puerto Galera Yacht Club, Oriental Mindoro

Further south, yachtsmen may moor at the Puerto Galera Yacht Club in Oriental Mindoro, an island location that’s home to tourist attractions like the Sabang Wreck dive site, lively beachfront resorts, and the Malasimbo Music Festival. Puerto Galera Yacht Club has been in operation for almost thirty years and lends services such as refueling provisions and yacht repairs from its marina. Boat owners also enjoy optimal convenience if mooring here, as they can also shop for spare parts in the nearby Batangas port.

Busuanga Yacht Club, Puerta del Sol Bay Marina, Palawan

Beautiful Palawan is a bucket-list destination for many, especially those who dream of cruising its crystalline waters. Accommodating the yachting community in this island province is the Busuanga Yacht Club, which promises secure mooring amidst breathtaking white-sand beaches. Here, each vessel will benefit from a typhoon-safe harbor, easy refueling, and direct access to transportation hubs like the New Busuanga Airport. Adjoining this marina is the Puerta del Sol Bay Resort, which offers luxurious accommodations to visitors. When not atop the deck of a boat, travelers can also explore the lagoons and freshwater lakes of Coron, go shipwreck diving, or relax in the hot springs of Maquinit.

Iloilo Sailing Club, Arevelo, Iloilo City, Iloilo

Iloilo Province is home to some of the country’s most beautiful old-world architecture, a flourishing ecotourism industry, and delectably fresh seafood cuisine. What will round off an unforgettable visit to Iloilo, however, is an excursion to the Iloilo Sailing Club on a leisure watercraft. The club accepts visitors and encourages membership in the case of medium and long-stay mooring. It also hosts a number of amenities and activities, including a dinghy storage, a beach bar and restaurant, and classes for those who want to learn about sailing. In recent months, the Iloilo Sailing Club has also been a convenient meet-up point for big maritime events, such as the Iloilo-Guimaras Paraw Regatta and the Seafarers’ Job Fair.

Cebu Yacht Club, Mactan Island, Cebu

The historic Mactan Island in Cebu was the site of Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan’s arrival in the Philippines. Now known as a commercial hub that hosts a prolific furniture and musical instruments industries, Mactan is also the location of the Cebu Yacht Club, an institution that is beloved by the locals. Aside from being an ideal spot to restock on much-needed fuel and supplies, the Cebu Yacht Club is also a trusted club to commission for boat repairs. There’s a good vibe in this club for everybody, as it sports both luxury accommodations and a waterfront strip of restaurants that laid-back diners can frequent. MINDANAO

Holiday Oceanview Marina, Samal Island, Davao del Norte

The Holiday Oceanview Marina is a major attraction of Samal Island in Davao del Norte Province, one that welcomes Filipino and foreign yachtsmen alike to moor within its premises. The space is quite roomy, in fact, with 56 berths that can fit vessels up to 15 meters in length. The club also has a boat ramp that can accommodate boats up to 18 meters in length. The well-guarded and weather-safe marina is a gateway to some of Mindanao’s finest attractions, such as the Pearl Farm, Hagimit Falls, and Giant Clam Sanctuary.

There’s no better way to discover the Philippines from end to end than getting onboard a seaworthy vessel and going on a long cruise, with stops in some of the most beautiful places in the country. Find a safe harbor in any of these major clubs and marinas, and participate in the renaissance of sailing in the Philippines.

Russian Tours and Cruises from Express to Russia

Moscow Cruise Route

Frequently asked questions from our travelers, what is the best time of the year to go on a moscow - st. petersburg river cruise.

The cruises are operated from the month of May until the beginning of fall. The best weather conditions during this period are usually from June through late July, but if you are looking for a trip at a more relaxed pace with less tourists in the cities on the route, we highly recommend to take a look at the months of May and September.  For more info, please see our useful tips .

Which cities and towns will I visit on a Moscow - St. Petersburg cruise?

The cruise itinerary covers all the main and the most important locations on the route. During the cruise you will have a chance to get acquainted not only with Moscow and St. Petersburg, but also with smaller towns and villages like Goritsy, Kizhi, Yaroslavl, Mandrogui. The number of cities and towns to be visited and the exact itinerary vary depending on the duration of the cruise.

Is it better to start the cruise in Moscow or in St. Petersburg?

The starting point of the cruise is totally up to you. You won’t miss any important sights whether you start the cruise in Moscow or in St. Petersburg. We always recommend checking the flight schedules from your city first in order to decide whether it is more convenient for you to fly into Moscow or St Petersburg.

A Russian Land Tour or a River cruise - which is better?

This decision completely depends on your preferred way of travelling. During the Russian river cruise you will not only visit the two largest cities of Russia, but also small towns and villages along the route and you will have a chance to participate in master classes, learn a little Russian language and dive into local Russian culture and hospitality. For those who prefer custom-made programs and more free time in the cities of their choice we recommend a land tour, both are excellent options. To find out more about the differences click here .

Do I need a visa for a Russian River Cruise?

If your citizenship is not on the list of countries with visa-free access to Russia, you will need a valid Russian visa. Please make sure to start the process in a timely manner, so as to avoid any last-minute pressure. More details on Russian Visas can be found here .
