What if I'm not comfortable having a renter drive my boat?

We took the boat out to celebrate our mom's 60th birthday. There were 18 of us, including lots of small children but the boat had plenty of room to accommodate us. The only exception is if you want to bring on more people than the ship lists as the maximum. This is a hard limit and cannot be exceeded. So, if your limit is 13 people and you initially plan for 10, you can potentially take as many as three more people with you. We cover all these details in  our FAQ . 

What Safety Practices Are In Place?

The team at Anchor places  safety as one of our highest priorities . In fact, we instruct our captains to keep safety at the top of their concerns while out on the water. This means they may be limited in what they can do for you based on the safety of the situation. Essentially, they will do what they can to keep you safe. 

Besides this, we ensure each ride is safe. This includes watching out for things like occupancy limits and the weather. We also follow all relevant boating laws. 

What If the Weather Is Bad?

In many cases, bad weather in Fort Lauderdale blows over pretty quickly. You can simply wait for the weather to pass and still get the most out of your boat rental. 

If the weather doesn’t pass and we determine that you cannot take out the yacht for the day, your rental will be canceled. If this happens, we’ll issue you a voucher for the value of the experience you booked. You can use this voucher to book a similar experience within 365 days of the experience you initially planned.

Once your embarkation date is 30 days away, the other 50% is collected for the price of the yacht, plus the APA, plus the taxes due.

Terms of refunds are dictated by the Charter Agreement. Generally, once a payment is collected, it is non-refundable. In certain circumstances, as dictated by the Charter Agreement, credits can be provided so you will be able to enjoy your yacht charter at a future date that is convenient for you.

We provide all Coast Guard required safety gear on all of our boats as  it is not necessary to bring very much with you, however, below is a list of items we suggest you bring.

Towels, sunglasses, sunscreen, long sleeve shirt and hat for sun protection, snacks and plenty of water!

Is there a maximum capacity on each boat?

Yes, each of our boats has a limit on the number of people allowed on the boat is usually between 6-13 max by law.

Can I bring my own food or alcohol?

Yes, you sure can all types of food & drinks are welcome.

70-foot yacht partially submerged in New River near Esplanade Park in Fort Lauderdale

FORT LAUDERDALE, FLA. (WSVN) - A 70-foot vessel partially submerged in the New River at Esplanade Park in Fort Lauderdale, Tuesday afternoon.

Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue units were dispatched to the scene of a sinking vessel in New River near Esplanade Park, 400 SW 2nd Street in Fort Lauderdale just before 2 p.m. Tuesday.

Officials say the 70-foot vessel was tied to the city dock located behind the Performing Arts Center. As the stern of the vessel was sinking, it caused minor damage.

TowBoatUS says the vessel will stay overnight and they will remove it on Wednesday. Booms were set up to lessen the environmental impact and placed lights on them to avoid navigation issues.

It is unclear if anyone was onboard at the time the vessel was sinking.

Fortress takes back Fort Lauderdale marina, RV park in $86M deed in lieu of foreclosure

The investors in a Fort Lauderdale RV park and marina surrendered the property to the lender through a deed in lieu of foreclosure valued at $85.8 million. 

Gary Cioffi and Christopher Hein handed back the keys to the 20.2-acre Yacht Haven Park & Marina at 2295 and 2323 West State Road 84 to Fortress Investment Group, according to records and real estate database Vizzda. 

In a deed in lieu of foreclosure , borrowers in trouble with debt obligations come to an agreement with lenders that avoids a foreclosure suit. The borrower hands over the keys of the property to the lender in exchange for a guarantee that the lender won’t pursue legal action or further payments.

South Florida commercial real estate thrived over the past four years due to an influx of residents and businesses, but the market has felt the sting of economic headwinds more recently. Higher interest rates, coupled with skyrocketing property insurance, have dented investors’ cash flow and made it difficult to refinance. 

Cioffi and Hein, through their Fort Lauderdale Motorcoach Resort and Yacht Club entity, bought the RV park and marina for $58.1 million in 2021, taking out an $81.7 million loan from New York-based Fortress, records show. The financing was for the purchase and renovation of Yacht Haven.  

Cioffi and Hein planned to pump over $20 million of the financing into renovations. The investors started the work, reconfiguring the RV sites to make them more spacious, and reducing the number of pads from 265 to 222. Yacht Haven also has a pool and 55 side-tie boat slips that can accommodate up to 150-foot yachts, a property brochure shows. 

Distress has manifested across South Florida property types, though most prominently in office buildings, followed by multifamily developments. This month, Bridge Investment Group sold a Sunrise office complex for $49 million , marking a 34 percent price cut from five years ago, while Nuveen Real Estate sold a 197-unit Plantation apartment complex for $49.4 million , marking a 5 percent discount from a decade ago.

Fort lauderdale elderly woman with alzheimer’s, dementia goes missing.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Authorities and family members are searching for a missing elderly woman.

Concerned relatives also passed out missing person flyers along Dania Beach Tuesday after 81-year-old Carol Tormey - diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and dementia - was reported missing Sunday night.

“Two years ago she was diagnosed with dementia, so we have taken her car away from her,” said John Tormey, Carol’s son. “Sunday, my dad took a nap and he woke up and the car was gone and she was gone.”

Fort Lauderdale police quickly issued a Silver Alert with Carol’s picture and the 2018 Chevrolet Colorado she was believed to driving.

“She gets tired quickly, she gets disoriented and I’m just hopeful whoever sees her will call us,” said Niria Tormey, Carol’s daughter-in-law.

Carol is believed to have left her Fort Lauderdale home along the 1500 block of South Ocean Lane.

License plate readers show she traveled north on US-1 to Deerfield Beach before turning around and heading back south, where the truck was last spotted near Sheridan Street and A1A, but relatives could still track her.

“We have air tags with her,” said John Tormey. “There is one in her purse, one in her keys and one in the truck, and those were spotted going west on Miramar (Parkway).

It’s there the Apple air tags could no longer be traced.

“All three were destroyed at the same time, or the signal was lost at 12:44 a.m.,” said John Tormey.

With each minute that passes, the concern for Carol grows as her loving family remains hopeful she will be found and brought home safe.

“I think that there is good people out there in this world and I think that she is with one of them, but she just can’t express to them what her name is,” said John Tormey.

Anyone who thinks they have seen Carol or her vehicle is urged to call the police.

Fortress Takes Control of Fort Lauderdale Yacht and RV Park in $86M Deal

Lender Fortress Investment Group took control of a yacht and RV park in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., as part of a $85.8 million deal, property records.

Called Yacht Haven Park & Marina , the property features 4,800 lineal feet of marina dockage and 255 motorcoach sites at 2295 West State Road 84 , just west of Interstate 95. From the park, boats can travel along local waterways to where the Stranahan River spills into the Atlantic Ocean near Fort Lauderdale’s Harbordale and Port Everglades neighborhoods. 

The previous owner — Fort Lauderdale Motorcoach Resort and Yacht Club , managed by Gary Cioffi — transferred ownership of the 20-acre property through a “deed in lieu of foreclosure” transaction, according to documents filed to Broward County.

The newly recorded deed amount is just $4.1 million more than the loan that Fortress Credit Corporation provided in 2021. The mortgage came in tandem with Fort Lauderdale Motorcoach Resort and Yacht Club’s $58.1 million purchase of the complex, which was completed in 1970.  

With the loan, Cioffi planned $26 million worth of renovations. These included redesigning the pool, updating the dockage, and adding a fitness center, dog park and on-site concierge services.

During the height of the pandemic, boating surged in popularity as an easy outdoor activity for social distancing with recreational boating growing by 35 percent to $170 million in annual economic activity between 2018 and 2023, according to the National Marine Manufacturers Association .

The reason for the foreclosure remains unclear. Representatives for Fort Lauderdale Motorcoach Resort and Yacht Club and Fortress Investment Group did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
