Tampa features two waterside walkways; the Bayshore Blvd sidewalk on Hillsborough Bay in South Tampa, is the longest continuous sidewalk in the world at 4.5 miles and 10’ wide. The other is Riverwalk, 2.4 miles along the Hillsborough River in downtown Tampa, lined with restaurants, shops and more. Boaters can find dockage and tie up and enjoy a walk and meal downtown. During the St. Patrick’s Day festivities, a section of the Hillsborough River is dyed green, similarly to the famous Chicago River.

Bayshore Blvd is also the staging site of the Gasparilla Parade of Pirates, held annually the last Saturday of January with festivities in the city and on the water featuring the pirate sailing vessel, Jose Gasparilla. The event, since 2005 (though its history is much earlier), attracts about 200,000 people to the area for celebrating in pirate-carnival style. Along the pirate theme, is the fleet of Pirate Water Taxis with 15 stops along Tampa’s Riverwalk, Channel District, downtown and Davis Island.

Davis Island is the location of many palatial and exclusive waterfront estates, none as well-known as the home of Derek Jeter, the Hall of Fame former NY Yankees baseball star, current CEO and part owner of the Florida Marlins NBL team. And guest residence of new Tampa Bay Buccaneers Quarterback, Tom Brady! Tampa’s NHL hockey team, the Tampa Bay Lightning, won the coveted Stanley Cup this year while the NBL team, Tampa Bay Rays (St. Petersburg), the #1 American League East baseball team, are now in the World Series. Go Tampa Bay!

Though there are loads of waterfront restaurants and bars, only some have dockage or private beachfront accessible to boaters for tie up and dine. The Sail Plaza, Tampa's only 360-degree waterfront restaurant is located on the Riverwalk near the Convention Center and features a dog-friendly patio bar offering cocktails and bites. Dockage is nearby for boaters along with a Pirate Taxi stop. Rick’s on the River, a casual setting known as a fun place for live music and drinks, is a marina, bar and grille and features an oyster bar. Ricks is located on the Hillsborough River with a full marina offering wet slips for rental as well as dockage for the restaurant. Ulele is a native American inspired restaurant and brewery on the Hillsborough River and the Riverwalk, accessible by Pirate Water Taxi.

Columbia Café at the Tampa Bay History Center is located on downtown Tampa waterfront, with indoor and outdoor seating overlooking Garrison Channel that separates downtown from Harbour Island. The Columbia Café, on the Riverwalk, features Cuban/Spanish cuisine, and is Florida’s oldest restaurant and the largest Spanish restaurant in the world! Fee-based boat dock has 8 tie-ups available to boaters; maximum stay is 72 hours. Whiskey Joe’s Bar & Grill, with deck seating and tiki bar is located off Courtney Campbell Causeway (to Clearwater) on Old Tampa Bay, allows boaters to beach on their private beachfront.

And there is the Yacht Starship fleet of four 3-Diamond rated dining yachts that cruise Tampa Bay at evening, offering grand views of Tampa’s skyline, the Bay, exquisite sunsets and award-winning cuisine, along with Holiday and specialty cruises. The largest vessel seats 600 passengers; together the four Yacht Starships can accommodate over 1,000 passengers. The two dock locations are Channelside Harbour near the ferry terminal or Clearwater Beach. Private Charters are available from other local ports. Pirate Water Taxi stop #1 is at the cruise terminal area in the downtown area and is a short walk from the Florida Aquarium. The Aquarium is 200,000 square feet of space exhibiting more than 14,000 animals from Florida and around the world, including Madagascar’s lemurs. One of its features is a 500,000-gallon Coral Reef habitat. The Florida Aquarium is also accessible by the streetcar line of Channelside Bay Plaza.

Once your embarkation date is 7 days away, the remainder of the amount due is processed.
• If you are booking for a single day and your reservation is made 7 days or less in advance, the total price of your reservation is processed immediately.
• If you are booking for a multi-day charter and your reservation is confirmed more than 30 days in advance, a deposit of 50% of the cost of the yacht is processed immediately in order to hold the yacht. Once your embarkation date is 30 days away, the other 50% is collected for the price of the yacht, plus the APA, plus the taxes due.

Terms of refunds are dictated by the Charter Agreement. Generally, once a payment is collected, it is non-refundable. In certain circumstances, as dictated by the Charter Agreement, credits can be provided so you will be able to enjoy your yacht charter at a future date that is convenient for you.

We provide all Coast Guard required safety gear on all of our boats as  it is not necessary to bring very much with you, however, below is a list of items we suggest you bring.

Towels, sunglasses, sunscreen, long sleeve shirt and hat for sun protection, snacks and plenty of water!

Is there a maximum capacity on each boat?

Yes, each of our boats has a limit on the number of people allowed on the boat is usually between 6-13 max by law.

Can I bring my own food or alcohol?

Yes, you sure can all types of food & drinks are welcome.

With Haiti in disarray, DeSantis to deploy hundreds of officers to patrol Florida shores

With Haiti in disarray, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said Wednesday the state will be sending hundreds of law enforcement officers and soldiers to patrol the southern coast of Florida to “combat illegal vessels” that may be carrying desperate Haitians fleeing a country whose government is under attack by gangs.

So far, a surge of migrants has not materialized in Florida. But DeSantis, who has taken measures to crack down on undocumented immigrants over the years, said in a statement that he is deploying more than 250 state officers and soldiers as well helicopters, aircraft, drones and boats to “protect our state” from arriving migrants.

The deployment will include up to 133 members of the Florida State Guard, a civilian military force under the governor’s command that has mainly responded to natural disaster emergencies. Last fall, a select group of State Guard members with the power to make arrests and carry weapons was trained to intercept migrants at sea at a Panhandle combat training facility.

“When a state faces the possibility of invasion, it has the right and duty to defend its territory and people,” the governor’s office said in a statement. “Under Governor Ron DeSantis, Florida will act.”

Haiti in turmoil

Haiti is facing a political crisis that threatens to topple its government. Two weeks ago, gangs declared their intentions to overthrow Prime Minister Ariel Henry and have wreaked havoc on Port-au-Prince, Haiti’s capital.

Henry has since agreed to resign, but it’s uncertain who will lead the Caribbean country. The international community, along with Haitian political and civil society leaders, is trying to hash out a plan for transitional governance , but disagreements abound. Most of the capital is currently under criminal control, according to the United Nations.

So far, federal authorities have not seen an increase in migration from Haiti, Hansel Pintos, a spokesperson for Homeland Security, Task Force — Southeast Public Affairs, told the Miami Herald during an interview Wednesday morning.

“The task force is preparing to respond to any changes,” said Pintos, who added that the task force, which is made up of federal and state agencies, has been engaged in enhanced migration enforcement since August 2022.

Officials hope to stop Haitian boats before they come to Florida

Monroe County Sheriff Rick Ramsay told the Herald on Tuesday that federal officials have spoken with him this week about having his deputies prepared for “an above-normal effort to leave Haiti and come to the U.S.” The Florida Keys saw the majority of Haitian and Cuban arrivals during the height of the exodus from those countries in 2022 and 2023.

“We’ve had some discussions with federal officials about the civil unrest in Haiti and the belief that more Haitian sail freighters may be trying to get to the United States,” Ramsay said.

Ramsay’s deputies were often the first contacts for Cubans and Haitians arriving in large numbers throughout the island chain between 2022 and 2023. Most of the migrants were coming from Cuba on small boats. This happened several times a day at the end of 2022 and the beginning of 2023.

But, there were also large, overloaded vessels from Haiti showing up on several occasions, carrying hundreds of people. So many people were landing in the Keys during that time that sheriff’s deputies had to wait with them for hours on the side of U.S. 1 until overwhelmed Border Patrol agents could arrive in vans to pick them up.

This took them away from their regular law enforcement duties, prompting Ramsay to complain about a lack of federal and state resources in the area. Ramsey’s complaints played a key role in DeSantis’ January 2023 executive order to send the Florida National Guard and state police officers to the county to help patrol the air and water leading to the archipelago. Ramsay said federal officials told him this week that they are hoping to stop migrant vessels from leaving Haiti, but some could get past their patrols.

“They told us they are going to try to put more resources in that area to ward off any mass evacuations and for us to be vigilant for the potential for more migrants coming from Haiti,” he said.

Meanwhile, Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava wrote to President Joe Biden in a letter on Tuesday that the crisis in Haiti “has profound implications for Miami-Dade County due to our significant Haitian community and proximity to the island.” She requested multiagency community briefings.

Migrants stopped near the Bahamas, Turks and Caicos, Puerto Rico

On Friday, the marine unit of Turks and Caicos’ police force said they had stopped a 25-foot power boat carrying 31 Haitian migrants in Northern Caicos. There were 22 men and nine women on board, according to island authorities.

Meanwhile, the Coast Guard’s 7th District, which is headquartered in Miami and has operations from Florida to South Carolina, announced it had repatriated 65 Haitians from a distressed boat in the Bahamas on Monday. Including Monday’s repatriation, the district has repatriated 131 Haitians since Oct. 1, the beginning of the government’s fiscal year.

Puerto Rico is also a point of destination for Haitians, who depart on rickety boats from the neighboring Dominican Republic. Smugglers often abandon the migrants on tiny and remote Mona Island, a nature reserve that sits between the American territory and Hispaniola.

The Coast Guard told the Miami Herald that it has interdicted 41 Haitians in waters near Puerto Rico and the Mona Passage as of Feb. 29. Meanwhile, Customs and Border Protection headquartered in Puerto Rico has apprehended 112 Haitian nationals since Oct. 1. So far, the flow of Haitians in the Mona Passage is lower compared to last year.

TAMPA, Fla. -- The Tampa Bay Buccaneers found a way to retain quarterback Baker Mayfield -- on a three-year deal worth $100 million -- Sunday, and the move keeps Mayfield from entering free agency.

The league's negotiation window opens Monday at noon ET, and free agency will officially begin Wednesday (4 p.m. ET), so getting a deal done for their starting quarterback was essential.

"I'm very happy for Baker. He's been through so much in the last couple of years," Mayfield's agent Tom Mills said to ESPN. "On Dec. 5, 2022, he was waived by the Panthers . ... He never complained and always believed in himself."

For the Bucs, Mayfield was it, and they made it a point to convey that publicly. General manager Jason Licht was asked about potentially drafting a quarterback at the scouting combine last week and said, "You can never rule it out, but I'd say right now, the focus is on signing Baker."

The Bucs did meet with five quarterbacks at the combine, and Licht said this week, "We also like door No. 2 that's right here," referring to backup Kyle Trask , who competed with Mayfield for the starting job last year.

But the team was built with every intention of luring Mayfield back and giving him the chance to build on last year's career-defining season. The Bucs not only hired former Los Angeles Rams offensive coordinator Liam Coen -- who worked with Mayfield for five games in 2022 after the Rams picked him up shortly after Carolina released him -- but they sought Mayfield's opinion on the candidates while interviewing.

Sources close to the situation said they believe Coen might be a step up from previous offensive coordinator Dave Canales , now head coach of the Carolina Panthers , because Coen is already coming in with NFL playcalling experience, something Canales did for the first time last year.

While a report suggested Mayfield wasn't going to give Tampa Bay a "hometown discount," money was not the determining factor for Mayfield's return. The 28-year-old has long coveted organizational stability and the right culture. He found that in Tampa Bay, a team that knew how to win after three seasons with Tom Brady and has one of the best receiving tandems in the league in Mike Evans and Chris Godwin .

"What they tell you is what you're getting," Mayfield said in September. "There's no behind-the-scenes drama -- it's all about winning here.

"'How can we put our guys in the best position to win?' It's rare, unfortunately, in the NFL to have an organization like that. That's why I'm so happy to be here."

Plus, Mayfield and his wife, Emily, already had planned to spend the offseason in Tampa as they anticipate the birth of their first child next month. It was important for them to reestablish their roots after being with four organizations in less than a year. That doesn't always come from the highest bidder or the team with the first overall draft pick, as Mayfield saw in Cleveland when the Browns selected him No. 1 overall in the 2018 before trading him to Carolina in 2022.

This deal, which averages $33.33 million per year, is undoubtedly a step up from the $4 million deal he played under last season, and it's a reward for a nine-win season with a 10th coming in a 32-9 win over the reigning NFC champion Philadelphia Eagles in the wild-card round of the playoffs. But it also leaves room for Mayfield to have a strong supporting cast.

The Bucs were still able to reward Evans with a new contract Monday and franchise-tag safety Antoine Winfield Jr . on Tuesday. It also allows the Bucs to give Winfield a new deal that is at, or near, the highest at his position, which would be in excess of $19 million per year, and they're working hard to re-sign inside linebacker Lavonte David , as well.

According to ESPN's Matt Bowen, Mayfield was the No. 2 quarterback on his free agency rankings and Evans was the No. 2 wide receiver. Winfield came in as the No. 1 safety, and they all ranked within the top 15 overall.

Then there's left tackle Tristan Wirfs ' entering the final year of his contract, as he's set to play under the fifth-year option from his rookie deal. The Bucs have had what Licht described as "beginning discussions" with Wirfs' agent, Jeremy Newberry, regarding an extension.

This is what Mayfield had to say after the Bucs' loss to the Detroit Lions in the divisional round of the playoffs: "To get everybody back, there has to be sacrifices made, and this team is about winning. We have a group full of guys that they were all about that. It's not about individuals guys, it's not about that, and so that's what made it special."

Look for David -- the longest-tenured Buc at 12 seasons, who continues to turn back the clock at age 34 -- and kicker Chase McLaughlin to be the next priorities, with the Bucs' focus on re-signing their own.

They'll still need to fill holes at strong safety and their interior offensive line, and there are questions at outside linebacker with Shaquil Barrett 's departure, although the team was adamant that it hasn't closed the door on a possible return for him. Coach Todd Bowles was also noncommittal on K.J. Britt being the replacement for inside linebacker Devin White , who fell out of favor in Tampa and is not expected to re-sign.

But Licht had this to say, in putting things into perspective: "I mean, if we can re-sign Mike and Baker and Lavonte, Chase, Antoine and Tristan -- I mean, we should be throwing another boat parade. So, that's a pretty good class there."

Fatal boat crash launched woman into trees and threw man into water, Florida cops say

A body pulled from trees was among two discovered after a 21-foot boat crashed near southwest Florida’s Little Hickory Bay, according to investigators.

It happened around 3 p.m. Friday, March 15, not far from North Naples, about a 160-mile drive south from Tampa, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said in a news release.

“The vessel, carrying two occupants, was traveling north, passing red channel marker 14, when it’s starboard side ran into the mangrove trees, ejecting both passengers,” FWC officials said.

“The unmanned vessel remained in gear until it crashed into the mangrove shoreline, coming to a stop.”

Judy Eaton, 71, of Bonita Springs “was recovered from the mangrove trees where she was pronounced deceased,” officials said.

John Moulder, 71, of Naples, was airlifted by EMS to Gulf Coast Medical Center in Ft. Myers, “where he later died from his injuries,” officials said.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, but alcohol may have been a factor, investigators said in the report.

Boaters who use the area regularly told WBBH the couple died at a turn known to be dangerous, but signs marking the hazard vanished during Hurricane Ian , which struck southwest Florida in September 2022.

“Sadly, I was not surprised,” boater Kevin Price told the station. “I had a conversation with another friend recently about this turn specifically, and some of the close calls I’ve seen at this spot.”
