Yacht Primer Primers Conventional Above Water Primer for Wood, Steel and Alloy PRODUCT DESCRIPTION Quick drying conventional primer for wood, steel and aluminium/alloy above the water. Pigments contain aluminium flake to provide an anti-corrosive protective barrier. PRODUCT INFORMATION Colour Specific Gravity Volume Solids Typical Shelf Life Unit Size DRYING/OVERCOATING INFORMATION Drying 5°C (41°F) Yacht Primer Note: If maximum overcoating times are exceeded, sand using 180 grade paper. WOOD Sand smooth with 80-180 and then 280 grade paper. Remove sanding dust by brushing, dusting and wiping. If wiping with solvent then allow to dry completely before applying the first coat. Apply 1 coat of Yacht Primer thinned 1015% with Thinners No.1 to ensure penetration and adhesion. OILY WOODS e.g. Teak Ensure that the surface is thoroughly degreased. Thinner No.1 is recommended. Sand smooth with 80-180 and then 280 grade paper. Remove sanding dust by brushing, dusting and wiping. If wiping with solvent then allow to dry completely before applying the first coat. STEEL Degrease with solvent or Super Cleaner. Gritblast to Sa 2½ - near white metal surface. If gritblasting is not possible, grind the metal surface with 24-36 grit abrasive discs to a uniform, clean, bright metal surface with a 50-75 microns anchor pattern. Use angle grinder on small areas. Clean thoroughly and allow to dry. ALUMINIUM Degrease with solvent or Super Cleaner. Sand well using 24-120 grade (aluminium compatible) paper. Coarser grades are recommended to achieve optimum adhesion. Clean thoroughly and allow to dry. Apply the first coat of Yacht Primer as soon as possible (within 8 hours). ZINC/GALVANISED STEEL Degrease with solvent or Super Cleaner. Sand well using 60-120 grade paper. Clean thoroughly and allow to dry. Apply 4 coats. If maximum overcoating interval is exceeded, sand using 180 grade paper. If filling is required, use Watertite after the first coat of Yacht Primer has been applied. Ensure all dust is removed before painting. Mixing Stir well before use. Thinner YTA800 Thinner No.1 (Thinner No.10 for spraying) Cleaner YTA800 Thinners No.1 Ventilation and Humidity Control Apply in dry, well ventilated conditions. Airless Spray (Professional spray application only) Pressure: 180 bar. Tip Size: 1365-1580. Conventional Spray (Professional spray application only) For conventional spray application, reduce viscosity using Thinners No. 10 to 20 - 24 seconds, BS4. Pressure: 3-4 bar. Tip Size: 1.4-1.8 mm. Some Important Points Formulated for exterior use. Product temperature should be minimum 5°C/41°F and maximum 35°C/95°F. Ambient temperature should be minimum 5°C/41°F and maximum 35°C/95°F. Substrate temperature should be minimum 5°C/41°F and maximum 35°C/95°F. Suitable for all substrates specified. Do not overcoat with 2-component solvent-based products. The International Yact Primer Grey is a fast drying single pack primer that can be used above the waterline which contain alumnium flage to provide an anti-corrosive protective barrier.. Suitable for a range of surfaces such as wood, polyester, vinylesterm epoxy, steel and aluminium is recommended to be used before applying a single pack undercoat. Please note that the Yacht Primer is not to be used on aluminium propellers or to be over coated with any two-part product.

Etch Primer

International One Up is a simple, yet effective primer and undercoat in one tin, making painting easier for DIY customers, without compromising on aesthetic appearance or substrate protection. It is extremely easy to apply with a brush or roller leaving an extra smooth finish.

Thinning of One Up Primer Undercoat is not usually required, however, it can be thinned up to 10% if required using Thinners No.1 .

One Up primer and undercoat is suitable for use on most materials, such as fibreglass & GRP, gelcoat and wood.

It is recommended to use at least 2 coats of International One Up before applying the topcoat. For GRP/Gelcoat 2 coats should be enough, for aluminium and steel 3 coats are recommended and for wood, at least 4 coats are recommended.

International One Up Sizes & Colours

International One Up is available in white in  375ml tins , 750ml tins and 2.5L tins and in blue/grey in 750ml tins only.

International One Up Primer Undercoat Replaces International Pre-Kote & Yacht Primer

International One Up Primer Undercoat is a brand new primer undercoat, being introduced in October 2021 in order to replace International Pre-Kote and International Yacht Primer , it can be used as both a primer and an undercoat as required.

International are changing their primers and undercoats as some of the chemicals currently used in Pre-Kote and Yacht Primer are being banned for use by DIY customers.

As with International Pre-Kote, International One Up is available in both white and blue/grey colours.

Standard Returns

If you are not entirely happy with your purchase, we will exchange or refund your goods in full, provided that the items are returned within 14 days of receipt.*

Please check the condition of goods on arrival - we are unable to accept goods damaged during shipping after 14 days.

Returned goods must be packaged securely, with all original packaging undamaged and in a saleable condition i.e. shoe boxes must be in the same condition as when received.

Goods must be unused and security seals intact.*

If you would like to return goods because they were ordered incorrectly or if clothing does not fit, return postage will be at your expense. If you would like us to replace the goods with another size or colour, we will charge carriage on the replacement.

Please be aware that some navigational and safety products may be dated, and as such a full refund may in some cases not be possible. If you are purchasing dated navigational charts we suggest you contact us for more information.

Faulty Goods

If you receive your goods and believe them to be faulty, please contact us straight away with a brief description of the problem. If we require you to return the product for a replacement, we will send you a pre-paid Royal Mail label for delivery back to us. Unfortuantely we cannot send the courier back to collect the items.

Returning goods to Force 4 is easy!

• Please contact us by ringing 0345 1300 710 or email on [email protected] . This way we'll be able to determine whether you would like to return the product for a refund or whether you'd like to exchange the product. We are unable to process the return of faulty goods that we're not expecting.
• We'll then give you a returns number. This returns number will need to be clearly marked on the outside of your parcel so it can be identified on arrival. Please note, failure to mark a returns reference number on the outside of your parcel may result in a delay in processing your return.
• Don't forget your proof of postage, just in case!
• Once we receive the item we'll be able to proceed with a refund or an exchange.

*this excludes faulty goods with manufacturers defects. If goods are found to be faulty during use, after the returns period, please just give us a ring on 0345 1300 710 and we'll be happy to help.

Are there time limits on how soon or late you have to apply the antifoul coat to the primocon? keith ransom

International Yacht Paints advise that there is no period when the antifoul can be put on Primocon, as it has an extensive life after application. Even after a year it can be applied.
