The FREEDOM yacht is a 229ft / 69.8m luxury yacht built and launched by yacht builder Benetti . Delivered to a proud yacht owner in 2000 and refit in 2015, this luxury yacht sleeps up to 12 guests in 8/10 staterooms and has accommodations for 25 crew. She has a beam of 41ft / 12.5m, a draft of 12ft / 3.7m, and she measures in at 1,975 gross tons. Her hull is steel and her decks are teak. Her max speed is 22.6 knots and cruising speed is 14 knots. She is propelled by Caterpillar engines at 2,000 hp each.

In photos: Roberto Cavalli’s new superyacht Freedom revealed

Captured underway, it's easy to see how fashion designer Roberto Cavalli's new superyacht Freedom was inspired by Batman. Since the sale of the 28 metre CCN custom yacht was first announced in May 2017, details have been thin on the ground. But now never-before-seen photos reveal the  Tommaso Spadolini -designed interior for the first time, from the sky-blue galley, to the leopard-print furnishings. It's not hard to see how the boat was a finalist in the Best Exterior Styling and Best General Arrangement categories at the 2019 Boat International Design & Innovation Awards .

The master cabin

“Everybody knows me for my animal prints – leopard and zebra. In this boat, our bedroom is covered in leopard print,” Cavalli told Boat International . The master is also equipped with direct access to the wheelhouse, as Cavalli intends to drive the yacht himself, as well as access to the lounge/beach area and a small flybridge deck.

The interior decor was personally created by Cavalli, who selected fabric and leather finishes, as well as furniture and accessories, to reflect his approach to life at sea and his strong personality.

A guest cabin

At the start of the design process, Cavalli wanted just one cabin and already knew the boat had to be painted black. The inspiration was the Dark Avenger; he envisioned a boat Batman would want to have. However he ended up inserting two guest cabins on the lower deck, one twin and one VIP cabin. They are located on either side of the corridor aft of the galley.

The unusual layout sees the full beam galley with dining space sit on the lower deck. Cavalli loves to cook himself, so the galley has been made intentionally spacious, with plentiful counter space and a good sound system.

It is so large in fact, that Cavalli claimed: “It’s bigger than my bedroom." 

The second dining area

The outdoor dining space id protected by the wind, flanked by two large glass doors etched with the Cavalli logo. It is designed for sea views, comfort and protection from the element. "Outside we have a white couch with leopard print pillows," Cavalli previously told  Boat International .

The wheelhouse has direct access to the master cabin on the main deck to allow Cavalli to drive Freedom when he feels like it. There are also doors to sidedeck and direct access to the crew quarters, which are forward on the lower deck and 160-degree visibility.

From the outside in

From the first sketches, the yacht had unusual and voluptuous lines, but it took many iterations to arrive at the final version of the yacht.

The engines

Equipped with three waterjets, Freedom reached a top speed of 43.5 knots on technical sea trials, perfect for Cavalli who likes nothing better than to overtake other boats.

Whatever your activities on your charter, you'll find some impressive features are seamlessly integrated to help you, particularly Wi-Fi connectivity, allowing you to stay connected at all times, should you wish. Guests will experience complete comfort while chartering thanks to air conditioning.

Performance & Range

Built with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, she offers greater on-board space and is more stable when at anchor thanks to her full-displacement hull. Powered by 1 x Scania engines, she comfortably cruises at 8 knots, reaches a maximum speed of 10 knots.

Set against the backdrop of your chosen cruising ground, you and your guests can enjoy fun on the water with the collection of water toys and accessories aboard Freedom. Principle among these are waterslides letting guests speed from the sun deck to the water in seconds. Take to the sea on the Jet Skis offering you power and control on the water. Also there are waterskis that are hugely entertaining whether you are a beginner or a seasoned pro. If that isn't enough Freedom also features a seabob, wakeboards, canoes and paddleboards. Freedom's transformation from a Mini Cruiser to a Super Yacht

This article explains how the idea of Super Yacht Freedom was born, and why is she such a big hit in the yachting industry.

From idea to reality

Since COVID started, there was a drastic increase in large Super Yachts and Mega Yachts in Croatia but still not enough to meet demand. That's why we decided to turn Freedom into a Super Yacht and offer a luxury yacht charter to our guests. We were working with Yacht Freedom before it went through the upgrade. At that time, we were offering high-class services, for groups of up to 40 people, and we got constant feedback about what a special vessel it was. 

A ship with tradition

Ivan, the owner, and also captain of the yacht, built her from scratch in a small Croatian shipwright village with a very long tradition, so Freedom is great proof of the quality and the craftsmanship of these men. At first, the owner's idea was to build a ship and create a »high-end« cabin charter cruise, but then COVID struck, and the »cabin charter business« shrank.

We sat down with him and decided to change the concept of a »Mini Cruiser« into a »Super Yacht«. During COVID, as more and more people wanted to charter » closed–private « groups due to safety reasons, we realized, that charting on a high-quality 50-meter ship with all the amenities of a Super Yacht could be just what people need to experience.

It's all about the details

A ship can legally carry more than 12 passengers on board and because of that, more safety standards have to be taken. Freedom was meant to be a ship and was built as such, and not a yacht, so it had the advantage from the get-go. During the upgrade, no money was spared. The yacht owner went »all in« and used only the best quality materials.

Luxury comfort

Freedom already had 20 cabins and could accommodate up to 40 guests. The first idea was to lower the number of cabins and guests to make the services better and to make the entire accommodation more comfortable.

After we looked at Freedom's blueprint, we decided to:

• change 4 regular cabins into 2 large master cabins
• upgrade the rest of the cabins
• change one cabin into a massage studio
• change one cabin into a spa/sauna
• change 2 cabins into a cinema room
• change one cabin into a gym

Freedom's complete transformation

The colors of the hull give the yacht that modern and minimalistic look. This almost 50 meters long yacht spreads over 4 large decks – lower, main, sundeck, and upper. The sundeck, with its new hardwood floors, a large jacuzzi, padded sunbeds, a lounge bar, and a pool with a fountain, gives you a feeling of a luxury hotel's rooftop. This spacious area is the perfect place for a »happy hour« cocktail or an early morning yoga class.

The size of the regular cabins has almost doubled, so the previous 20 cabins were turned into 11 spacious and comfortable bedrooms with en suite bathrooms. The two large main cabins or better said suites, are the real show stoppers. Each of them includes an en suite bathroom with a bathtub and a spacious walk-in closet. The VIP suite is the largest »cabin« and is located right above the Wheelhouse, offering 180-degree views of the sea.

The gym onboard includes a technologically advanced rowing machine, a recumbent, and an upright bicycle. Everything from the weights, medicine balls, and mat are covered in leather, giving you a feeling of luxury even when you are working out. In case you want to listen to your favorite tunes and really »pump it up«, you can connect your phone or other devices to the gym's sound system via Bluetooth.

Spacious indoor lounge

The spacious indoor lounge, on the middle deck, with modern white couches that extend through the whole side of the yacht, offers plenty of space for all the guests to sit down at the same time. In case of bad weather, the two large tables are a great option for dining inside. There is also a beautiful white piano (yes, a piano) that the guests can use for entertainment (or practicing).

Movie nights on board

On the lower deck, two of the cabins were turned into a steam room/spa and a massage room. The smell of essential oils, dim lights, tea candles, and relaxing music will transport you into a »zen« space. Another mind-blowing upgrade was the cinema room where the guests can sit on the cozy couches and watch a movie or play video games on a console.

Pick your water toy

We also wanted to give the clients the option of having an active holiday, so we decided that water toys were a must. The adventure types can choose between a SeaBob, waterskis, paddleboards, a kayak, or try the water slide. The crew members will happily assist the guests at any time. Excitement and fun are guaranteed.

Service Excellence

There would be no Super Yacht charter experience without a Super Crew. Freedom's chief stewardess, Martina, has extensive knowledge of service. Years of experience onboard luxury Mega Yachts all around the world are transferred to her staff. The professionalism, the eye for detail, and kindness are seen and felt onboard Freedom.

Haute cuisine

All the meals are prepared by an exclusive chef and a sous chef onboard. Even though, the kitchen is relatively small (we are on a yacht), the magic that they can create is unbelievable. Only the freshest produce, seafood, fish, and meats are carefully selected and turned into Michelin-rated dishes. A four-course meal, paired with superb local wine, is served on beautifully dressed tables. The chef can also prepare vegan, vegetarian, pescetarian, and everything in between delicacies. The brand-new espresso machine makes that perfect »pick me up« coffee that you just must have after a delicious meal.

In the last couple of years, Croatia became the »hot spot« and a »place to be«. With its 1,200 islands laying on the beautiful turquoise Adriatic sea and being much more affordable than France, Italy, and Greece became the perfect destination for Super Yachts and Mega Yachts.

FREEDOM yacht charter was built in 2019 and since then, she has made countless guests fondly remember the time they spent on this wonderful yacht and the unique atmosphere of the Croatian Adriatic sea.

Her first refit came just in time for her to be ready for the 2022 summer season, with numerous amenities added to her already avid collection of yacht facilities, including an onboard spa centre, a yacht cinema, which doubles as a game room for kids and a fully equipped yacht gym.

The dining room located on the upper deck has enough room to accommodate all guests in a well-appointed and air-conditioned interior. The architecture of the superstructure allows for wide and full-sized windows, which will surely elevate the atmosphere during meals in the upper deck salon, regardless of it being day or night.

Because she was built specifically for cruising in the Croatian Adriatic sea, you will have no problems at all relaxing on her decks, enjoying her amenities or sleeping tight in her wonderfully appointed cabins, because of her sturdiness and stability, both at anchor and underway.

She can take on a maximum of 23 guests, accommodating them in 11 cabins, scattered across three decks of this glorious yacht charter.

YACHT MAIN DECK

Since FREEDOM was made to cruise in the Croatian Adriatic, this reflects primarily in her exterior profile and structure. Her stability is achieved by her width, which is possible in the Adriatic, since storms and unfriendly weather starts at the end of autumn.

YACHT LOWER DECK

The atmosphere of the entire cabin is bright and light, thanks to white being the dominant colour – subtle gray details only accentuate the brightness of the white, while daylight coming in through wide windows is spread around the cabin thanks to the prevalence of white.

Besides the visual impression, all the materials used in decoration and design of the double cabins are rare, expensive and luxurious, making the guest`s stay in the cabins as comfortable and inviting as possible.

Other types of furniture include a full-length and angled sofa, where guests can take a short nap or just relax during the day. There are lots of storage space, as well as a desk and a chair, for answering e-mails or doing some unexpected work.

The main deck aft provides a sheltered space for guests to recover after hours of fun in the sunshine playing on the water toys and the wrap-around seating has two tables large enough for meals, drinks and personal items as you unwind in the fresh sea breeze.

The majority of the cabins are to be found on the upper deck and bridge deck to benefit from the elevated views.
