What to expect on board gulet cruises.

Gulet cruise is the most beuatiful way to explore the Turkey's stunning Turquoise Coast which offers nature and history together where you will forget who you are. The day on Gulet Cruise starts aboard with a quick swim by the energetic, or even a waterski over the bay- calm as glass in the early morning. Then all guests awake sit down to the full breakfast served by the gulet crew.

When you are on gulet cruise ; enjoy the chatter over fresh food, and even plan the day, such as it will be, with the captain. Another swim or paddle on the canoe, or start the next chapter of the book while lying on the sunbeds? The choice is difficult. But the crewman is teaching the kids to fish with a handline while the cook is preparing a very tasty lunch with salads, Turkish Mezes and a chicken dish.

After the sit down lunch and drinks has been served by the crew, there is great hilarity when some start to learn and to play backgammon. Then the gulet gets underway for its next mooring spot. As soon the anchor is dropped and motor turned off, all are in for a swim and splash, and fun on the watersports toys again. On the sunbeds on the front deck afternoon tea and fruit give a break to the activities or the leisurely reading.

Gulets are traditional Turkish motor yachts, which are beautifully crafted from wood. They have a spacious sundeck, perfect for soaking up the sun and admiring the views as you cruise the clear waters of the Aegean and Mediterranean. A gulet cruise allows you to reach secluded bays not accessible by land and to swim in the clearest of water, away from the shore.

From time to time you will stop off to visit places of interest along your route, the perfect way to explore the remains of the ancient civilizations, which once inhabited this part of the world. Our gulets have between 3 to 10 cabins. All cabins are equipped with air conditioning and en suite facilities including WC, hand basin and shower. Air conditioning cannot be operated whilst gulets are in harbour and will operate usually between 3 to 5 hours per day. What to Bring:

• Swimwear, casual wear and bare feet are the order of the day shoes may not be worn on board, although you will, of course, need to bring some with you for when you go ashore.
• By nature of the design, space is limited so it is best not to bring too much with you and a holdall is recommended instead of a rigid suitcase.
• Sheets are provided as are bath towels for your cabin although not swimming towels.

So you have a week off of work, always wanted to go on a luxurious cruise but don't think you have enough time, we have some great news for you, modern cruises can be anything from as little as 2 days up to, well the skies the limit nowadays, there are so many choices and great holiday packages that will fit in with your work schedule or limited time frame, you will be able to pack in as much or as little as you want, to get the most for you out of your Farout blue voyage Meditteranean cruise. We have some great 7-day 6-night cruises for you to choose from, you can start from the beautiful harbor town of Fethiye in southern Turkey and take a scenic cruise to Kekova, visiting some small secluded bays islands that are scattered throughout the coastline where you will see evidence of ancient civilizations scattered all around you from Saint Nicholas Island where the short walk to the highest point has a fabulous view and the sunsets that reflect off of the water here seem to be like no other as if the sea is on fire, and on to Gokkaya where a 2000-year-old city lies silently just beneath the surface of the water then to Ucagiz old Fishing Village where you can wander through the narrow streets and take some time to enjoy the little boutique shops or sit at a cafe out of the heat of the sun and enjoy a traditional Turkish coffee and some sweet baklava. Next heading to the charming village of Kas, nestled just off the water's edge where the houses are stacked precariously ever higher up the mountainside. It is here at Kas that you will find some of the best waters for diving, warm and clear. Your time spent at Kas will be a memory you will never forget, this part of Turkey's coastline is teaming with ample and varied marine life and the best place to see it all up close is under the water, however, if that is not for you and you just want to relax, read swim and sunbathe as the boat gently rocks you then there is plenty of space on deck to do just that.

We broke two weeks at The Four Reasons in Yalikavak by having 3 nights away from the hotel on board Flas 7 sailing east from Bodrum and visitng Sedir island and English Harbour. Gulet cruise introduction.

A gulet cruise from either Bodrum or Marmaris is a great combination of sightseeing, swimming and, of course, cruising along one of the Mediterranean’s most beautiful coastlines. You’ll see picturesque coves and magnificent scenery and enjoy snorkelling, sunbathing and complete relaxation. Simple pleasures, no stress or strain and, above all, a wonderful feeling of getting away from it all. You can also combine a week’s gulet cruise with a week at one of JetSun’s hotels.

Why Choose a Gulet Cruise?

The ultimate ‘get-away-from-it-all’ holiday, a gulet cruise is a great way to explore Turkey’s fabulous, Mediterranean coastline and enjoy the freedom and total relaxation which only an informal cruise can offer. As the gulets are small compared with large, ocean-going cruise ships, it’s the perfect holiday to make friends and enjoy the pleasures which only a small cruiser can offer.

Best Time to Travel

Any time between May and October is a good time to take a gulet cruise although in early and late season there are fewer cruises taking place so the bays are more deserted, the ancient sites less crowded and, of course, it’s not as hot as July or August. Days are longer in May and June and the sea is warmer in September and October.

The crew comprises the captain and, usually, a cook and a deckhand. There are up to 8 small but comfortable double cabins, all with private sh/wc. There’s a sunbathing area with sun mattresses, a saloon / bar, a shaded afterdeck for meals and drinks, a music system, a galley, snorkels & flippers and a tender-boat. Please note on air conditioned Gulets the  air conditioning operates at certain times only.

The Itinerary (from Bodrum or Marmaris)

There is no fixed itinerary and no two days are the same but a typical day will start with breakfast followed by a couple of hours’ cruising before dropping anchor in a bay for swimming, snorkelling and lunch. In the afternoon you’ll cruise again for a couple of hours and then stay the night either in a quiet bay or close to a harbour with, perhaps, the opportunity of going ashore. The cruise itinerary is always dependent on weather and operational conditions and is always subject to the captain’s approval.

Eating & Drinking

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included in the price and all meals are taken on the shaded afterdeck. It’s simple but delicious cuisine and, unsurprisingly, always tastes better in the open air. Drinks are not included but can be purchased on board (there’s usually a ‘slate’ system whereby you pay for all drinks at the end of the cruise).

Shore excursions are organised by the captain and crew and are payable locally. They might include a visit to an ancient site or maybe a village to see some typical local life or even a trip to a larger town or resort for some retail therapy. Evening BBQs are also very popular

Night Life & Shopping

The only chance there is to enjoy a little nightlife will be at the beginning or end of the Gulet Cruise in either Bodrum or Marmaris. The same will apply to shopping although there is sometimes the opportunity to visit a small town during the cruise which may have a few shops or a market to browse around.
