Vineyard owner and wine connoisseur, Harry Hardy, serves as namesake of the serene beachside town on Sydney’s picturesque Central Coast. Sitting just over 100 kilometres north of the CBD, Hardys Bay is a tranquil beach paradise that is as much a holiday destination as it is a thriving coastal community.
Cushioned between the popular waterfront hubs of Pretty Beach and Killcare, Hardys Bay boasts an enviable relaxed lifestyle. With the attractive waterways of Brisbane Water on one side and the wild beauty of Bouddi National Park on the other, locals and visitors can’t help but feel at one with nature when in Hardys Bay.
Outdoor adventures and cultural exploration are on the cards throughout the year in Hardys Bay. Nature enthusiasts can enjoy a day of hiking in Bouddi National Park and relish one of the Central Coast’s most spectacular natural wonders. The Box Head Lookout is not to be missed and offers breathtaking views over the Tasman Sea and Broken Bay. A day in town offers plenty of opportunities to dine at trendy eateries such as Hardys Bistro or the legendary Hardys Bay Club.
A slice of the easy life is on the cards for locals and visitors of Hardys Bay. Leave the stresses of city life behind you and unwind at one of the many secluded beaches that hug the coastline or enjoy a cup of coffee in town and watch the world go by.

HARDYS BAY RESIDENTS GROUP
Working for a positive lifestyle and healthy environment in our community by promoting and preserving the unique character, charm and the healthy environment of hardys bay, we acknowledge the first nations traditional owners of the country where we reside . we pay our respects to elders past, present and emerging..
WE'RE BACK IN ACTION!
The Hardys Bay Residents Group is back in action after an extended Covid break. The committee reformed last July and we have been hard at work ever since. The new president is Susan Johnston, with Jenni Neary as vice president, Pauline Garde as secretary, Martien Coucke as treasurer and Adrian Williams, John McKenzie and Steve McKenzie as committee members.
We'd like to thank Adrian for his hard work and dedication as president of the HBRG and we're grateful he has decided to stay on as a member of the Group, thus guaranteeing continuity.
HBRG has always been assisted by volunteers, we love your support!
We would also like to acknowledge our major sponsor, Beach + Bay Vet who generously contribute to our doggie bag supply.
what we're working on
Sewerage Pipe Problem D ue to foreshore erosion along the western side of the bay a sewerage pipe became exposed. W e alerted Council and insisted they examine the pipe. They acted promptly and weighted down the pipe to ensure it doesn't lift with the tide and separate from the inspection point. This is an interim fix and a contractor has been appointed to undertake permanent remedial work. A rock line of varying sizes will create a naturalistic edge and backfill to completely cover and permanently secure the pipe between the inspection point and Truro boat shed. It's a big job and there have been delays, but it is on a Council priority list.
Foreshore Management Plan The HBRG is working in partnership with Wagstaffe to Killcare Community Association to develop a Hardys Bay Masterplan addressing degradation around the bay and improving the overall amenity of the foreshore. A highly experienced group of local architects, town planners and landscape designers have formed the Design Group . The Client Group , including 2 of our members, are able to bring their detailed knowledge of the bay to the process. They have contributed to and reviewed draft plans, talked to local groups and residents and fed their ideas into the process. There will be further opportunities to seek your thoughts on the plans.
Boats and Trailers For a considerable time now, boats and trailers have lined up in Araluen Drive, starting near RSL Creek. Those that are registered are legally parked. Following our approach to Coun cil an unregistered trailer and one boat, in situ for years, were taken away. Signage limiting the extent of boat and trailer parking was successfully erected at Pretty Beach. We are pursuing similar options for Araluen Dri ve.
RSL Creek - the issue that never goes away Our most recent request and inquiries to Council have resulted in the standard response, i.e. the problem is due to the shallow fall ; the mangroves and siltation are not a problem. The only assistance offered was to inspect the branches in front of the three pipes under Araluen Drive. Unfortunately, there has been no action yet but we will continue to follow this up.
Fallen Tree Branches We used Council's Snap, Send, Solve service to report two big broken branches near RSL Creek. Council responded promptly, removed them, tidied up the site and sent a letter to the effect that the tree itself is safe. Thank you Council . Please feel free to use this service as Council appear to respond to r equests related to issues like fallen tree branches and potholes.
what's BEEN achieved
Killcare Wharf
In February this year Killcare Wharf was closed for repair for over a month by Council. This created difficulties for boaties who regularly use the wharf. We attended a heritage briefing about the wharf and were in regular contact with Council to obtain feedback on the completion date so we could inform local residents. We also had input into the amenity of the wharf including ensuring connection of the fresh water tap at the end of the wharf and low lumen solar lighting along the wharf which is greatly appreciated by regular wharf users.
WHAT'S ONGOING
Doggie Bag supply
Your membership contribution goes towards the signage, dispensers and supply of 90,000 compostable doggie bags per year. Volunteers regularly check and make sure those dispensers are adequately stocked, from Killcare Beach to Wagstaffe.
NON HBRG ACTIVITIES:
Mobile Phone tower
Whilst the HBRG is not actively engaged in the phone tower issue, we are strongly supportive of the efforts of the Wagstaffe To Killcare Association and are well aware that many residents have significant concerns about the current situation . We encourage you to take up the matter with your local representatives (click email below):
