The AM37 bears the “heart and soul” of the storied British sports-car brand, but it didn’t start out that way. Aston Martin initially planned to do a nominal amount of design for Quintessence Yachts . The Aston Martin design team became so obsessed with imprinting its DNA into the AM37 that the yacht became a waterborne Aston Martin. Its subtle curves combine with an expanse of teak decks to create a signature look.

Twin 430 hp MerCruiser engines, mated to its stepped hull, give it sports-car-like handling and speeds in excess of 40 knots. The hand-stitched, leather-covered steering wheel (sourced from the same supplier to Aston Martin) a touchscreen helm, and joystick steering show how Quintessence seamlessly blended technology and craftsmanship. Its most impressive technical feature is the automated hardtop that emerges from the aft deck with the push of a button, turning the AM37 from an open-cockpit boat into one with weather protection.

First Aston Martin AM37 sportsboat delivered to Miami

Quintessence Yachts has announced that the owner of the first Aston Martin AM37 sportsboat has taken delivery. This 50-knot speedster will be based in Miami.

The British yard revealed that the owner had taken full advantage of its Q by Aston Martin bespoke service, customising the interiors with Baltic blue and cream truffle upholstery and flashes of chrome to compliment the Mako blue hull finish.

The first hull in the series has been fitted out as an AM37S model, meaning it will be more performance orientated, with twin 520hp Mercury Racing petrol engines fitted. However, the yard points out that a Gran Turismo version is also offered, with a choice of twin 370hp Mercury diesel engines or a pair of 430hp Mercury Racing petrol engines.

Mulder Design  and Aston Martin worked closely on the design to make sure it is delivered as both a driver's boat and thing of beauty.  Speaking at last year's Monaco Yacht Show, where the AM37 prototype got its public debut,  Marek Reichman, Aston Martin's director of design , said that sports cars and speed boats were “inextricably linked” and that the AM37 is "like a breath of fresh air". He added that its "simplicity of design, purity and use of materials" singled it out.

Ben Collett, production director at Quintessence, added that the AM37 will “truly embody the Aston Martin brand, not only in terms of design but also production quality”.

“In addition to our own highly skilled team, we’ve chosen to work with a few key Aston Martin suppliers in order to get the same level of handcrafting and technical know-how," he continued. "Moreover, the materials we use such as leather, metal, glass and wood are all authentic to reflect the brand values."

The firms have revealed that the AM37’s unique sliding deck and collection of on-board computer technologies allows for the cockpit to be covered after a day out on the water, protecting it from the elements and uninvited guests.

The deck consists of three carbon panels that can be operated by the electronic command of the AM37 key, folding under the aft deck to uncover the cockpit. Once the cockpit is open, the aft deck slides back to facilitate access to the dock and allow those on-board to easily dive into the water and open the swimming ladder.

The deck can also be raised to give access to the engine room, storage compartments and bimini top. This unprecedented, user-friendly feature removes the need to store all gear and furnishings at the end of each day. With a simple click of a key, owners will be able to close their boat and leave it ready for the next ride.

The AM37 is further enhanced by its technologies: the air-conditioning, fridge and espresso machine can be started on remote while still at home or driving to the marina.

The boat also features integrated navigation, control monitor and entertainment systems, with advanced multimedia functions and interactive voice control. The user interface of the multimedia and entertainment system is installed in the 15-inch HD touchscreen on the dashboard. There is a dedicated display for monitoring engine status and navigation.

This 11.28 metre dayboat was built in resin-infused composite at a facility near Southampton, with structural elements made in carbon fibre.

Quintessence Yachts adds that a highly bespoke version of the AM37 is already under construction and her owner plans to use her to cruise the Swiss lakes.

CEO Mariella Mengozzi concluded: “With so many options available to our clients we are confident that there will never be two identical AM37s."

This gorgeous Aston Martin-designed powerboat is the yacht equivalent of a convertible

This is the AM37, a new powerboat designed by Aston Martin and Quintessence Yachts for the Salone del Mobile, a city-wide design festival in Milan. An Aston Martin press release says the boat was created to capture the "performance, handling, comfort, and style synonymous with Aston Martin."

The entire press release, in fact, is filled with Aston Martin-esque buzzwords: style, elegance, luxury, functionality, performance, comfort, engineering, design. And why not? Aston Martin's cars are gorgeous, and so is this boat. There's a sliding deck made of three carbon fiber panels that can cover the entire cockpit, protecting it from the elements (and unwanted guests) — and it's remotely operated at the click of a button.

Aston Martin Powerboat

It's also sort of the yacht equivalent of a convertible. The rear deck retracts so that a retractable sunshade can move up and over the passenger area. It has a number of engine options, but the fastest version — the AM37 S — comes with a pair of 520 horsepower engines that push the 37-foot boat to 52 knots. A "leisure" version comes with a choice of dual 370 hp diesel engines, or two 430 hp gasoline units.

A digital control interface offers easy access to the navigation and control systems, including electric anchors, a retractable bimini (a part of the roof), and deck deployment, as well as the retractable swimming platform. There's also fingerprint recognition to ensure that only authorized users can sail. Aston Martin's "Q" division can help personalize the boat, too. From custom leather and stitching to underwater lights, a cocktail bar, and beds to lounge in the sun, you can make your AM37 unique.

Aston Martin Powerboat

"It is true that a beautiful, simple shape is critical to a product’s success but it must also have drama, which is provided by surface language, proportions, and through the choice of exciting materials," says Aston Martin chief creative officer Marek Reichman. "The most important attribute for Aston Martin is the language of design and we have transferred this language into AM37. The new powerboat represents the ideal combination of luxurious and technical materials, generating a powerful yet understated finished product."

Miami-bound

quintessence yachts

Aston Martin and Quintessence Yachts have joined forces to build a special powerboat named AM37.

Today, the first AM37 owner has taken delivery of his new Aston Martin powerboat which will be berthed in Miami.

Handcrafted in the UK by Quintessence Yachts, AM37 hull number 1 is customized with many additional features including the AM37S propulsion package which affords a top speed in excess of 50 knots.

Taking up the option to access the ‘Q by Aston Martin’ personalisation service, the owner tailored his boat. Aston Martin designers helped translate preferred materials, colors and textures into key elements of the powerboat. The result is a Mako Blue hull and an interior swathed in Baltic Blue and Cream Truffle upholstery with flashes of chrome.

Taking the full range of options, including air-conditioning, the powerboat has Axius Joystick Piloting, which provides manoeuvrability and precise handling with an intuitive joystick. Having seen the powerboat in action on her test run, the new owner requested underwater lights in the hull, a bespoke addition that is now available as an option for future clients.

Quintessence Yachts unveiled the much-anticipated prototype of the AM37 at last year’s Monaco Yacht Show. Since then, the team has gone into overdrive building bespoke AM37s for clients keen to own their very own Aston Martin for the ocean.

The powerboat is available in two versions: a ‘gran turismo’ leisure powerboat with a choice of twin 370 hp Mercury diesels or two 430 hp Mercury petrol engines, and an AM37S version with twin 520hp petrol engines by Mercury Racing.

Quintessence Yachts also started the production of a spectacular bespoke version for a discerning client who will put his boat through her paces on the Swiss lakes.

This AM37 matches the client’s new Aston Martin Vantage AMR road car with bulkheads and cabinetry finished in Charcoal Lacquer, and gray Novasuede headlining and window bands. The contemporary configuration has additional engine room sound insulation to comply with the stringent rules which apply to powerboats used on the Swiss lakes.

All AM37s benefit from a unique sliding cockpit cover which can be remotely operated with a mobile app. Navigation, control monitor and entertainment systems are integrated within a 15 inch touchscreen in the dashboard, with advanced functions to control the electric anchor, retractable bimini and retractable swim platform.

Quintessence Yachts CEO Mariella Mengozzi concluded: “ With so many options available to our clients we are confident that there will never be two identical AM37s. At the heart of our approach is a commitment to listen to customers and understand their needs, supporting their choices with the finest quality artistry. By fusing the maritime and automotive worlds with the universal characteristics of style and elegance, AM37 offers the perfect balance of design and engineering, performance and comfort, luxury and functionality.”

Aston Martin reveals AM37 Quintessence powerboat

Aston Martin announced today that it will be launching its first powerboat in September in partnership with Quintessence Yachts

You will soon be able to step from your Aston Martin sportscar into your Aston Martin speedboat, as plans for a 37-footer were revealed to the media at Aston Martin’s Warwickshire headquarters today (April 29).

The luxury car manufacturer has designed the AM37 in conjunction with Mulder Design after being approached in June 2014 by Quintessence Yachts, whose founder Louis Paul Steinberg is a classic Aston Martin owner.

And although the first working prototype is yet to be built, the AM37 will have its on-water debut during the Monaco Yacht Show in September, Quintessence Yachts confirmed.

Mariella Mengozzi, CEO at Quintessence Yachts, said: “The Aston Martin Design department has been working seamlessly with the Quintessence R&D unit and naval architect Mulder Design in Amsterdam to achieve a true example of design purity.”

Petrolheads may be disappointed to learn that Aston Martin’s naturally-aspirated engines will not be used in the AM37 to start with, although the company has not ruled out marinising a V8 in future.

In the meantime, all of the engine options on the AM37 will be twin Mercury set-ups, ranging in power from 370hp to 662hp – the latter will be capable of a top speed in excess of 60 knots.

However, the first hull will come fitted with twin 570hp petrol engines, giving a max speed of 50 knots.

Naval architect Bas Mulder provides the yachting expertise behind the vacuum-infused composite hull. When combined with a carbon fibre superstructure, this should deliver the handling, performance and comfort of a luxury sports car.

Marek Reichman, Design Director at Aston Martin, told MBY : “There is something missing in the world of yachts, which is that emotional connection to a depth of heritage outside of where boats are currently.

“The automotive industry has influenced yachts, but also vice versa. They are both dynamic sculptures – you are effectively translating tarmac for waves.”

Aston Martin signature flourishes include the iconic winged emblem on the transom and a rear diffuser. Meanwhile, the foredeck will flow seamlessly into the windscreen.

“The rear of the boat is the most recognisable connection with Aston Martin,” Marek continues. “It takes inspiration from Aston Martin models that the world hasn’t seen yet.”

Aston Martin Partners with Quintessence Yachts for AM37 Speed Boat

This is the AM37, a small yet powerful luxury yacht envisaged by the Aston Martin design team, and created in collaboration with naval architect Mulder Design and Dutch firm Quintessence Yachts. It marks the first product to form a family of yachts by this dynamic trio.

“As a designer there are many things I would love to work with and homes and boats are at the top of the list,” offers Aston Martin’s design director Marek Reichman. “The beauty of the boat is that it is a combination of both. It is dynamic and acts as a home.”

The physical vessel will be launched in September, and we are at the company headquarters to view the sketches, clay model and renderings that offer a glimpse into the production boat.

quintessence yachts

The name refers to its relatively small size at 37 foot. It will be available in two trim levels – the AM37 leisure boat that is capable of reaching 50 knots (57mph) and an S line sport yacht that promises speeds of up to 60 knots (69mph).

Much like the latest Vulcan, the AM37 utilizes carbon fiber in its construction, using a clever vacuum infusion technology to build a scalpel-sharp hull that is at the center of its design. “The curved hull goes into a negative and positive,” explains Reichman. “When you see it you will think you can’t possibly do that!”

The design also helps manipulate the sound created when water hits the hull. “You can either have that augmented with the deep rumbling of the engine, or have the [relative] silence of the water on the hull,” says Reichman. “The rush is so exhilarating — the sound of the sail filling with wind.”

quintessence yachts

Design Story: 5th Generation Toyota Supra

The team also added a big diffuser to the back of the boat, causing the water to pass through in a very different way that adds to this sound as well as helps achieve comfort at high speed. “It creates a very different wave pattern at the back of the boat too,” smiles the designer.

Reichman is visibly excited about this latest project as he reveals, “it has an incredible deck that covers the open space so you can walk onto the boat from land. Then once on-board it slides back and exposes the whole interior. No one has done this before!”

The AM37 is essentially molded from one piece, which was a challenge for the automotive team who worked with the marine engineers to see how, and if, certain processes could evolve.

Reichman says it was very much a two-way learning process. “Boats can be technologically advanced yet each industry has its processes and you can challenge these.”

Developed by Quintessence Yachts in collaboration with Aston Martin the very first AM37 powerboat has been revealed and is now berthed in Miami. Handcrafted in the UK by Quintessence Yachts the powerboat underwent the Q by Aston Martin personalization service, allowing the owner to tailor the boat according to the materials, colors and textures they preferred.

As a result, the powerboat is distinguished by its MAKO Blue hull and interior of Baltic Blue and Cream Truffle upholstery and accents of chrome, featuring a convertible sofa, matt Lacewood table and champagne cooler in Baltic Blue carbon fiber for two champagne bottles and six flutes. For maneuverability and precise handling the powerboat features Axius Joystick Piloting, with underwater lights in the hull and the AM37S propulsion package which affords a top speed in excess of 50 knots.

After unveiling the prototype at Monaco Yacht Show last year, Quintessence Yachts are now working on a number of bespoke AM37s for clients who want to own their own Aston Martin for the ocean. Two versions are available: a ‘gran turismo’ leisure powerboat with either a twin 370hp Mercury diesel or two 430hp Mercury petrol engines, and an AM37S version with twin 520hp petrol engines by Mercury Racing. A unique version for the Swiss lakes  is also in production with a design that reflects the Aston Martin Vantage AMR road car and sound insulation to comply with the rules applied to powerboats used on Switzerland’s lakes.

AM 37 - The yacht addition to your Aston Martin car

The am37 is the answer of an aston martin on the water..

This 11.10m sports boat, designed by Aston Martin comes under the brand of Quintessence Yachts with naval architecture by Mulder Design .

The yacht has a top speed of 50 knots in its “S” version, powered by 2 x Mercury Racing 520. This version offers a range of 160 nm at a cruising speed of 45 knots. The normal petrol version reaches 45 knots and has a range of 260 nm with a speed of 40 knots. Quintessence Yachts offers also Diesel engines.

AM37 Aston Martin Yacht

Power, Beauty and Soul

The designers have the aspiration to integrate the Aston Martin style into the yachts.

Marek Reichman, Chief Creative Officer at Aston Martin comments:

“The new AM37 powerboats are the very definition of understated elegance and reflect the Aston Martin DNA in every way possible. Their timeless style will be instantly recognizable to fans of the Aston Martin brand.”

Bas Mulder, Naval Architect, and Designer:

“The philosophy behind the Aston Martin powerboats is to make a sporty boat, not a sports boat– a superbly designed vessel that also offers the type of comfort Aston Martin car owners have come to expect. It will ensure you an awesome experience.”

AM37 Aston Martin Yacht

The cockpit reminds a bit of a Tesla with its big 15 inch HD screen. It is the control system for navigation, monitoring, and entertainment. Guests can control sound, lighting, and appliances. The owner has also an additional display for the boat’s core functions (engine monitoring, navigation, etc.). Air condition, fridge and coffee machine can be started by remote devices before arriving the marina. Also, a voice control is available.

One of the great features of the AM37 is the sliding deck. Don’t untie a tarpaulin anymore. Just sliding the cover/roof back and you have access to the boat. It serves also as a bimini top.

Aston Martin & Quintessence Yachts Introduce the AM37 Yacht

quintessence yachts

Aston Martin is extending their “art of living” into an entirely new segment as they enter their second century of existence, and their first step is into the water.

The AM37 is the newly introduced speedboat from Aston Martin and Quintessence Yachts, the first in what is reported to be a new line of aquatic vessels from the 102-year-old luxury manufacturer. Aston Martin shared a few pictures of this new creation on their Facebook page May 5, giving us a look at design details pulled from vehicle concepts that have yet to be released to the public.

“It takes inspiration from [car] models the world hasn’t seen yet,” Marek Reichman, design director at Aston Martin, told BBC Autos at an April 27 event. “That’s one of the reasons why this boat will have such longevity.”

astonmartin-yacht-am37-050615 (2)

As Quintessence Yachts’ website describes, there will be two versions of this luxury boat introduced, the AM37 and the AM37 S. The main difference between the two comes in the form of a power increase. Each is a 37-foot vessel with carbon fiber structural pieces and a high-tech composite hull, but the AM37 is “a gran turismo leisure powerboat” that maxes out at a speed of 44 knots. The AM37 S features more power, and is capable of reaching 52 knots.

To maintain a thorough infusion of British architecture, assembly of these vessels takes place in Southampton, England. The naval architecture services and design framework were crafted in the Netherlands by Mulder Design, a niche firm founded in 1979  with more than 600 designs that have hit the water.

Be sure to stay with us for more information about this new vessel’s official unveiling, which BBC tells us will be in September of this year. In the meantime, find the perfect Aston Martin to complement your aquatic experiences from our exclusive listings below.

If you want Aston Martin's new power boat, you'll have to keep a secret

Aston Martin's motto for years has been "Power, Beauty and Soul." And the company has been able to successfully deliver that in its road and racing cars.

Now the AM37 power boat will bring that same attitude to the open water.

So far, details on the Aston watercraft are few. There's only a handful of digital renderings to give potential buyers some idea of what the boat, set to officially debut later this year, will actually look like.

According to Aston, "potential owners of the new Aston Martin powerboat are being given more details of the new project on a strictly confidential one-to-one basis."

How very James Bond of them!

Designed by Quintessence Yachts in-conjunction with Aston Martin, the 37-foot-long AM37 aims to provide a luxury sports car experience – on water.

“We are sure that the Aston Martin ethos of ‘Power, Beauty and Soul’ can be successfully translated into the yachting environment in a very special way," Quintessence Yachts CEO Mariella Mengozzi said in a statement.

"The Aston Martin Design department has been working seamlessly with the Quintessence R&D unit and naval architect Mulder Design in Amsterdam to achieve a true example of design purity."

Aston and Quintessence have so-far revealed the planned use of a high-tech composite structure, interactive voice control, and a high-definition touchscreen navigation and multimedia system.

Aston Martin isn't the first ultra-luxury British carmaker to put its name on a boat.

Last year, Rolls-Royce unveiled a $5-million dollar superboat called the " Aeroboat ." The sleek craft is powered by an updated, 1,100-horsepower Rolls-Royce Merlin engine from the legendary World War II-era Supermarine Spitfire fighter.

Aston Martin and Quintessence have not revealed the price for the AM37. That information may be available in the near future, but you'll have to keep it a secret.

Yep, Monaco is pretty much a theme park, and the theme is filthy lucre. In the marina, yachts of various shapes and sizes (mostly substantial) strain impatiently against their moorings in the shimmering water. Beyond cars, beyond helicopters, beyond even properties in Mayfair, Manhattan or Mustique, the world’s ultra-high-net-worth individuals have proven themselves rather partial to super-yachts.

quintessence yachts

Maritime spending is what really separates the men from the boys. Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen tore a $250m hole in his $17.5bn fortune constructing his 414-footer Octopus, while everyone’s favourite Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich made that look like a dinghy compared to his nautical runaround, the 536ft-long, £740m Eclipse. Sadly, bragging rights have lately passed to Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, whose yacht Azzam is currently the world’s longest at 590ft. This is luxury unlimited.

quintessence yachts

It also opens irresistible brand-extending opportunities for companies with a priceless foothold in what we must invariably refer to as the ‘lifestyle’ space. In 2016, few of the world’s premium car manufacturers are content just to make cars; the big play is in personalisation, at the very least, in creating bespoke cars in the age-old carrozzeria tradition if you’re feeling more ambitious, or in licensing the brand to another company altogether if you really want to turn those revenue streams into torrents.

quintessence yachts

On which basis, an Aston Martin powerboat sounds like a no-brainer. In fact, it’s tempting to ask what took them so long. “Wouldn’t it be great,” Aston Martin’s CEO Andy Palmer recently mused during the opening of Aston’s new Dover Street ‘retail experience’ (shop), “if you were down in a luxury harbour somewhere, staying in an Aston Martin apartment, with your Aston Martin parked in the car park, and your Aston Martin boat harboured outside.”

quintessence yachts

Er, yes. And here it is. Well, the boat anyway. Thierry wanders off in the opposite direction as we head along the jetty towards the fully loaded £1.6m AM37, one of the break-out stars of the Monaco Boat Show, which has just finished, and a shoo-in surely for the next Bond movie. (Daniel Craig is said to be mulling over a new two-film deal worth, get this, $150m.)

quintessence yachts

Who doesn’t love a powerboat? The AM37 is so-named because she’s 37ft long, and even surrounded by the nautical monoliths that dominate Monaco’s marina, this is an eye-poppingly pretty creation. All the rules that govern car design done properly – stance, proportion, seamless surfacing – are present and correct, to the extent that it almost looks… effortless. Unsurprisingly, nothing could be further from the truth.

quintessence yachts

Let’s clear up a big question straight off. The AM37 is not a nautical revisit of the misbegotten Cygnet. This isn’t a pre-existing boat with some enamelled badges whacked on and fancy leather. No, this is an all-new design from an all-new company, funded by a wealthy Aston-owning Dutch entrepreneur. Quintessence Yachts, registered in Holland but based in Southampton, only got going when Aston Martin decided it liked the cut of their jib.

quintessence yachts

“Look, I’m as cynical as you about badge engineering,” Aston’s chief creative officer Marek Reichman tells me down the phone from Japan (he’s showing the AM-RB 001 to potential clients; they now have more than 600 firm expressions of interest). “The only way I would have done this is if we’d had the opportunity to design it ourselves. Over the years, various boat builders have approached Aston Martin about collaborating on something. It never felt right. But when Quintessence Yachts came to see us, we liked their approach. As a new company, they were interested in doing things differently.”

quintessence yachts

In fact, Quintessence had to play a waiting game. Aston’s ever-expanding design studio hadn’t quite expanded enough when the first overture was made, around three years ago. “We wanted a similar experience to an automotive gran turismo,” Quintessence Yachts’ CEO Mariella Mengozzi tells me. “The first brand our principal investor thought of was Aston Martin. It’s a name that’s truly recognised around the world. Actually, when we started discussing the idea of an Aston powerboat, it was something that seemed to pre-exist already in lots of people’s minds."

quintessence yachts

Six months to the day since the first meeting, Mariella and her partners were back in Gaydon. This time Reichman and his crew were ready. “The biggest challenge we face is staying in control of the programmes we run,” he asserts. “From my perspective, it’s as important that this was a ground-up new boat as much as the AM-RB 001 is a new car. I didn’t want to compromise, and the result is that we’ve done some things the marine world would have said no to. It’s unusual to get an opportunity to challenge the norms of an industry, especially one in which tradition governs everything you do."

quintessence yachts

The project was triangulated between Aston Martin, Dutch naval architects Bas Mulder, and Quintessence itself. Mengozzi, a charming Modenese lady, has years of experience at Disney and Ferrari under her belt, so she’s no stranger to complicated licensing deals, while fusing the different strands of corporate ego. “There are pros and cons, going into business with a start-up,” she candidly admits, “but sometimes when you work with leading brands there are… constraints. They interpret the brand in their own way, and if you are an established brand it still has to be highly visible. A small or new company will work a lot harder, you are more flexible, more committed and willing to accept the challenge."

quintessence yachts

Having defined the class they wanted to enter – a powerboat that could also work as a day cruiser, the fastest vessel in its class but one that was also comfortable – they got to work. Mulder developed an innovative hull and architecture, working closely with Reichman and his team, who approached the aesthetics as if designing a new car, using 40 per cent scale models, CAD and a full-size clay. “Boats are usually done off 2D drawings,” Marek avers. “You can see how powerful the volumes are on the AM37. There’s a drama to her curves. The hull is concave, not convex, and there’s an ‘archway’ effect at the stern that allows the water to exit in a different way."

quintessence yachts

The AM37’s backbone is mostly carbon fibre and uses e-glass in some areas, with an outer skin in fibreglass. The entire structure is vacuum-infused, and uses resin and epoxy bonding, another technique from the car guys. It’s handmade, almost all of it done in-house, and the visible carbon-fibre elements in the cabin aren’t just there because they look good. This is one rigid powerboat. She weighs 7.5 tonnes ‘light ship’, while the fuel tanks can swallow a monstrous 800 litres. The AM37 is good for more than 50 knots (57mph), which is pretty punchy across the water.

quintessence yachts

Many of Aston’s key suppliers have been drafted in to reinforce the brand synergies; the teak in the AM37’s bow, deck and transom is exquisite, and the leather that swathes the cockpit area has a reassuringly Aston tactility. The steering wheel’s main structure is hewn out of a single piece of stainless steel, and contains nine further elements. The digital instruments live behind a 15in HD touchscreen that’s obviously fully waterproof; it’s also heat-resistant to be fully operational up to 120°C. Three carbon panels can be manoeuvred into different positions above the main deck, and they disappear again beneath the rear deck at the push of a button (or via an app). Even the anchor’s design is so new it has a patent pending. Best of all, though, is the curved windscreen, the most difficult thing to do, according to Marek and a complicated structural element that also joins the visual dots to Aston Martin’s cars.

quintessence yachts

Everything is custom made, apart from the air vents, the microwave, and fridge. There’s a 48in television in the cabin, backed up by a server that can handle up to 1,500 movies. Even the lavatory has been specially designed for this boat (is this the Aston Martin of loos?)

quintessence yachts

My pilot/driver for the day is Quintessence’s head of operations, Stefan Whitmarsh. He’s worked at (or consulted for) most of the big yachting guns, and is also a former offshore powerboat racer. I’ve met a few of that breed over the years, and they’re about as unhinged as human beings get. But as this is currently the only AM37 in existence, Stefan chooses to ignore my enthusiastic imprecations to punch the throttle. We hit 35 knots, which is still quick enough to get some proper air. Like every fast boat I’ve ever been on, the AM37 adds an extra dimension simply by interacting with nature’s most thrillingly unpredictable force, although tellingly we don’t get even a tiny bit wet. The Aston guys worked hard to give her car-like ergonomics, so the throttle control has a seamless weight to it, and the view ahead is far better than usual. We still end up looking at the sky, though.

quintessence yachts

“She’s beamy, which gives you stability, comfort and volume space, but the downside is a possible reduction in performance,” Stefan says, as we ride the waves with impressive commitment, and he monitors the shifting ‘sea state’. I’m sensing no performance downside so far at all. “This prototype uses two 520hp Mercury marine petrol engines. The engine choice is tailored to usability, and standardisation of parts – the propellers, for example. These engines can be serviced anywhere in the world. We could have more performance with a different engine, but then servicing would be more difficult. To answer the question I know you’re going to ask, that’s why there’s no Aston Martin V12 in there. But as to the future, who knows…"

quintessence yachts

An AM37 R? It’s in the mix, apparently, and she’s over-engineered to deliver more. Sixty knots, they reckon. And you can’t do that in a shop.

If 007 had a powerboat, it would look a lot like Aston Martin’s new AM37

aston martin quintessence yacht am37 37 foot powerboat 01 news1

The brand that is irrevocably linked to the James Bond franchise just can’t introduce anything stodgy or sedate. Aston Martin worked with naval architect Mulder Design  and partnered with Quintessence Yachts to suss out the fine details and actually build the AM37.

Here’s how the Quintessence website introduces the AM37: “Every once in a while, something radically different from the norm is introduced to the world which alters people’s perceptions. In the powerboat industry, this game-changing moment has now arrived as earth meets water in the most spectacular way imaginable. For many years, those who love driving on both land and water have wondered how it might feel to own a boat that would match the ‘Power, Beauty and Soul’ of their Aston Martin car. Their wish – your wish – has now been fulfilled…. Your life may never be quite the same again… .”

So what’s the makeup of this new “earth meets water” vessel? First off, there are two versions of the 37-foot powerboat, the AM37 and the AM37S.  The AM37, with an estimated top speed of 45 knots, comes with your choice of two 370hp Mercury diesel or two 430hp Mercury gas engines. The AM37S has an estimated maximum speed of 50 knots from twin 520hp Mercury gas engines.

It’s not just a speedboat, but a day cruiser. You can convert the table in the cockpit into a bed. By repositioning three lightweight carbon panels electrohydraulically, the open cockpit becomes an enclosed, luxurious, comfy space complete with air conditioning and mood lighting. If this rig doesn’t show up at the end of the next Bond movie, people may wonder why not.

There’s a lavatory on board along with a refrigerator, microwave oven, and coffee machine. For daytime use, a carbon-fiber bimini top slides up electrohydraulically and a swim platform extends from the aft deck.

The dashboard has design elements from Aston Martin cars, with navigation, control, and entertainment systems integrated. The steering wheel, throttle handles, and joystick are made of polished metals.

Marek Reichman, Aston Martin’s executive vice president and chief creative officer, sums up the new watercraft: “M37 is a pure translation of the Aston Martin DNA into an entirely new maritime concept. The powerboat reflects our values in terms of power, beauty, and soul. The most important attribute for Aston Martin is the design language and proportion — we have transferred this DNA into AM37. It was important to us when considering this project to make sure that the boat design was as beautiful and timeless as our cars. The AM37 is a striking boat with fantastic proportion and elegance.”

The fitness world is littered with opportunities to buy tech aimed at enhancing your physical performance. No matter your sport of choice or personal goals, there's a deep rabbit hole you can go down. It'll cost plenty of money, but the gains can be marginal -- and can honestly just be a distraction from what you should actually be focused on. Running is certainly susceptible to this.

A few months ago, I ran my first-ever marathon. It was an incredible accomplishment I had no idea I'd ever be able to reach, and it's now going to be the first of many I run in my lifetime. And despite my deep-rooted history in tech, and the endless opportunities for being baited into gearing myself up with every last product to help me get through the marathon, I went with a rather simple approach.

This content was produced in partnership with Apollo Neuroscience. Have you been struggling to get the recommended seven hours of sleep? It's always frustrating when you get in bed at a reasonable time, then toss and turn for a hours before you actually sleep. The quality of that sleep is important too. If you're waking up multiple times during the night, you're likely not getting the quality REM cycle sleep that truly rejuvenates your body. If traditional remedies like herbal teas and noise machines just aren't helping, maybe it's time to try a modern solution. Enter the Apollo wearable.

Now we understand being a little skeptical. How can a bracelet on your wrist or ankle affect your sleep patterns? Certainly the answer to a better night's sleep can't be so simple. We considered these same things when we first heard of it. We'll dive deeper into the science behind the Apollo wearable, but suffice it to say that many people have experienced deeper, uninterrupted sleep while wearing one. A non-conventional approach to better sleep

The Most Fun Royal Enfield Yet Is Finally Out Of The Bag

These 10 vehicles are super cheap to repair in 2024, japan's 10 most powerful 2024 cars.

The hype surrounding Quintessence Yachts’ powerboat project with Aston Martin->ke13 hasn’t waned since news first broke of the partnership. The powerboat->ke2528 , called the AM37 , first made headlines back in April 2015 upon its announcement at a press event. Very few details were disclosed at that time about the upcoming project, but now that the Monaco Boat Show is drawing closer and closer, information surrounding the AM37 have slowly leaked through the cracks.

The most important “so far” feature of the powerboat is the sliding carbon fiber deck cover that can be used to protect the boat’s interior from nature’s forces without having to resort to using canvas and elastic materials. The use of carbon fiber also fits well with Aston Martin’s reputation for being one of the most luxury oriented car manufacturers in the world. Though I’d throw that out there.

The AM37 will also come with a remote control system that functions much the same way as a home using the same system. Basically, you can use this system to control a variety of appliances inside the powerboat, even if you’re miles away from it. Need to set the temperature right with the air-conditioning? No problem. How about chilling some wine on the fridge before you get to the boat? Easy. Get the espresso machine running so you can be greeted with a cup of brew? The boat’s remote control system makes all of that happen.

Keeping in line with the functionality aspect of the boat, Quintessence Yachts also announced that the AM37 will feature a bimini top, a swimming ladder, and a 15-inch touchscreen multimedia and entertainment system, among other goodies. Said goodies are likely to be unveiled over the next few months, but at least we’re getting to see a clearer picture on what to expect when the AM37 finally makes its long-awaited debut at the 2015 Monaco Boat Show on September 2015.

Continue reading to read more about the new-fangled details surrounding the AM37 powerboat.

Why it matters

It’s nice to see Quintessence Yachts opening up a little bit about the Aston Martin AM37 powerboat even though nobody would’ve blamed the company if it decided to keep all of the details close to its sleeves for the duration of the boat’s construction.

Instead of taking that route, Quintessence Yachts appears to be giving us brief glimpses on what we can expect. I admit that I would’ve liked to know more about the boat but given the approach its builder is taking, I really can’t complain too much, can I?

Based on what we know so far, the AM37 looks like it’s going to live up to Aston Martin’s trademark style and luxury. All the pieces are there - the carbon fiber was a predictable addition, but more than welcome nonetheless - and it appears that there’s going to be more layers to the AM37 than what was initially laid out. That would be a pleasant surprise if that was the case.

Hopefully, more information comes along in the coming weeks. I wouldn’t want to be sitting too long by the figurative phone, waiting for Quintessence Yachts to drop more information about the AM37, only for the company to hunker down on the secrecy until the Monaco Boat Show.

We need more details, Quintessence Yachts! The sooner, the better!

Vicky Farrow

There is a popular saying, “what a man can do, a woman can do better”. I’ve never   believed this to be true as men always had the upper hand in this modern society and women were always considered the lesser and weaker beings. However, this young and exceptional lady has proved that indeed a woman can become successful in the midst of men. Though Vicky Farrow is a woman, she has directed a team who has uplifted Quintessence Yachts making them known globally for their   wonderful boats. Her rise to power didn’t just happen out of the blue, but it was a gradual one which unfolds in the following paragraphs.   Vicky Farrow remains an experienced Sales Director with over 15 years’ experience in the marine industry working with some of the best-known luxury motorboat brands. However, as a child growing up on the water, she was a fun but yet reserved person who had a strong desire for adventure. She also possessed some wonderful features that made her stand out amongst her peers.

quintessence yachts

Some Of The Features She Possessed To Highlight A Few Are:

  • An eagerness to learn
  • Good judgment
  • An adventure seeker, wanting the see the world.
  • The ability, knowledge and qualifications required to drive a boat
  • Great initiative

Vicky, being the exceptional lady she is started her career in a wonderful way. She was able to secure her first sales a job for Windy Boats at Berthon where she originally began working as a Dockmaster.    There, thanks to the superb mentoring by Sue Grant at Berthon, it was clear to see her unmatchable sales skills, coupled with her competent skippering and boating experience so it didn’t take long before she was moved to work with another luxury motorboat company, Princess. Still exceeding expectations, she moved to work for Sunseeker and then onto Fairline.

quintessence yachts

Quintessence Yachts

Vicky’s passion for sales coupled with her love of boats made her succeed beyond great boundaries, making her limitless. She climbed higher and higher, working for   different companies in countries like Dubai, Qatar, Montenegro, South of France, Spain, and the Seychelles to name but a few, where her luxury motorboat experience was further   strengthened by selling Atlantis, Azimut, Benetti and Ferretti Yachts. She finally got employed by Quintessence Yachts who manufacture boats for one of the best known British brands, Aston Martin . Here things were more challenging as this company had great people working for them and Vicky knew she would have to buckle up if she wanted to succeed and achieve her dreams of utilizing her expertise to drive the business forward globally.

Her skills and expertise were constantly tested once she started to work at Quintessence Yachts. Vicky always wanted to be the best she could be where ever she was   employed and as such, she faced her greatest test. She had to prove herself by sealing a sales deal that her company has always wanted with one of the top companies that were in the market to buy luxury motorboats. This was not an easy task, because of the male-dominated marine industry.

quintessence yachts

Sales Director at Aston Martin

Vicky is exceptional. She knew most of these companies believed more in what they see and not what they heard. To that effect, she made a practical demonstration of how profitable it would be if they purchased their boats instead of doing a theoretical one. She gave them a first-hand opportunity to see the wonders of the boats in stock at   Quintessence Yachts . Using her practical knowledge and expertise as a master skipper, she awed them with her presentation and they were compelled to buy what

Quintessence Yachts offered. That marked the beginning of her new position in the company as the new Sales Director at Aston Martin . Quintessence Yachts prospered like never before, spreading its reach across the globe and to think this was only possible because of the efforts and   leadership skills their now Managing Director, Vicky Farrow, possessed. With this, it is evident that there is a better chance of gender equality as Vicky Farrow has shown us that with diligence and commitment, anything is achievable no matter your gender.

Vicky Farrow Succeeded because:

  • She played by the rules
  • She is generous and kind
  • She showed expertise, tenacity, and commitment to achieve her goals
  • She’s willing to go the extra mile
  • She didn’t ever allow mediocrity to limit her

With this, I hope this article, the inspirational story of Vicky Farrow, will not just serve as a story but as a motivation to women out there, who are bound by the chains of an inferiority complex, that there is light at the end of the tunnel and that with hard work you can succeed no matter what gender you are.
