Just Try to Keep Leonardo DiCaprio Off a Yacht, I Dare You

Did you have a nice little New Year’s holiday? Did you watch the whole of Real Housewives of Salt Lake City in one big gulp? Maybe you drove somewhere new since flying is so complicated these days. Off to a ski resort a few hours north as the interstate flies, hm? Spent a couple precious hours on this earth drying out cold, wet socks from the last run down the mountain, maybe? Well, that all sounds lovely, but unfortunately for mere mortals everywhere, it will never be as lovely as what Leonardo DiCaprio is up to. 

Leonardo DiCaprio! He of the movies fame. You know, Titanic. What’s Eating Gilbert Grape. Catch Me If You Can. The Revenant. Most recently, the Adam McKay’s Don’t Look Up . This guy, would you believe it, was on a yacht. Of course you believe it. This guy loves yachts . The man simply cannot get enough of them. He is like an oenophile, traversing the lands, grabbing up whatever fermented grapes Dionysus has left us down here. Like, if there is a rare and elegant wine, he’s tried it or wants to try it—but with yachts. 

So this week he’s been chartering Swiss billionaire Ernesto Bertarelli ’s yacht, which is called Vava II, in St. Barts. The Vava II has its own Wikipedia page . It’s reported to cost $150 million and sleep about 50 guests and crew members, and frankly, that’s a lot for a boat! Those things are on water! 

Friend and capo of the fabled Pussy Posse Lukas Haas was there, as was DiCaprio’s girlfriend, 24-year-old Camila Morrone. Per the Daily Mail , they even went shopping with the editor in chief of British Vogue, Edward Enninful, which I imagine is something like shooting hoops with LeBron James.  

Before all the shopping and the lounging on deck chairs with Haas and the strolling around St. Barts, DiCaprio celebrated New Year’s on the island alongside Jeff Bezos and partner Lauren Sanchez, Drake, and yacht owner himself Bertarelli. It is where this historic photo was taken.

Billionaires, A-listers and jet setters have decamped to St. Tropez with one source telling us the French hotspot is “on fire.”

In fact, there have been several ultra-exclusive bashes vying to be the hottest ticket in the world.

Nightlife mogul Richie Akiva threw a party for Swiss bio tech billionaire Ernesto Bertarelli where we hear Drake, Leonardo DiCaprio, long time “Pussy Posse,” member Tobey Maguire and Bulls star (and Khloe Kardashian’s baby daddy) Tristan Thompson hung out with an army of models.

The St. Tropez rager, with a lavish dinner and dancing, was held at what one source described as an “epic estate” overlooking the water. Drake manned a DJ booth set up by the pool.

“Drake was on the mic all night,” says the source.

We’re told model Suede Brooks, who Drake was photographed “yacht hopping,” with on the island, was also in attendance.

Forbes estimates that Bertarelli, who owns the $150 million super yacht VAVA II, is worth a $8.5 billion .

Page Six hears that on Saturday night there’s an invitation-only bash dubbed the Aurora Gala thrown by artist Mouna Rebiez. She’s expecting Uma Thurman, Diplo, Gerard Butler, Queen Latifah, shipping heir Stavros Niarchos and his wife Dasha Zhukova, among others. It benefits the Aurora mental health organization, which was founded by Rebiez’s kids, Henry and Souraya Chalhoub.

Meanwhile, JC Murray, the grandson of French billionaire Tony Murray, hosted a fete in one of the largest homes in the ultra luxe gated community, Les Parcs de Saint-Tropez. The neighborhood is also home to LVMH luxury group chairman Bernard Arnault and Ritz Paris owner Mohamed al-Fayed.

And we hear rum heiress Lady Monika Bacardi threw a birthday party for 300 people on the beach at Indie Beach with guests like publicist Anna Rothschild.

Sienna Miller and boyfriend Oli Green , Victoria and David Beckham,  Adrien Brody and Georgina Chapman, and Sofia Richie have also been spotted out an about.

Next on the travel list for the chic set is Capri for the UNICEF gala on July 30. Jennifer Lopez, currently on her honeymoon in Paris with Ben Affleck, is slated to perform, and Akiva is expected to host an after party.

The party commenced with a dinner at Akiva's, then at around 1:30 a.m, it moved to Swiss billionaire Bertarelli's $150 million, 315-foot yacht, Vava II.

The ritzy island was a place to be on New Year’s Eve. A-listers including Leonardo DiCaprio, Jeff Bezos, Nick Jonas, Priyanka Chopra, Dua Lipa, and Drake partied at the new year bash of club king Richie Akiva, Ernesto Bertarelli, and Darren Dzienciol. Around 500 guests made the cut and were invited to the lavish party. According to a Page Six report, the party commenced with a dinner at Akiva’s, then at around 1:30 a.m, it moved to Swiss billionaire Bertarelli’s $150 million 315-foot yacht, Vava II. It is said that the party went on till 9 or 10 in the morning.

The stars were treated with a performance by rapper Meek Mill and Lil Baby. During Mill’s performance, Philadelphia 76ers co-owner Michael Rubin and internet star Jake Paul turned DJs for the night. Meek Mill is reportedly staying on Rubin’s yacht while in town.

Bezos, who posted a pic of himself with partner Lauren Sanchez, came in late following another bash. In the viral pictures, the Amazon founder was seen wearing heart-shaped sunglasses and a colourful button-down.

Sharing some glimpses from the party on Instagram, he urged his followers to "celebrate and grow". “We had so much fun last night celebrating with a crazy disco party with family, but the new year is also a great time to take stock and focus on personal growth, renewal, rebirth, and paying careful attention to each moment of your life,” he said in the caption of the post.

Shortly after his divorce with Mackenzie Scott was finalised, Bezos made his relationship with Sanchez, a TV host-turned-helicopter pilot, public in 2019. Ever since, the couple has not shied away from showing PDA.

Despite her status as the largest superyacht ever built at a British yard, Vava II’s owner-inspired exterior styling by Redman Whiteley Dixon is not only beautiful but makes the yacht look balanced and sleek.

She’s mainly a yacht of straight lines – the plumb bow, the angle of the superstructure and transom aft to the water, the vertical windows forward – but the sudden kinks of the top deck are a devilish touch.

The interior is by Rémi Tessier. The yacht, refitted at Amels in 2015, has been a regular in cruising hotspots around the world – and she spent the summer of 2016 cruising the Mediterranean.

“Conceived as a ‘world travelling yacht’, Vava II has exceeded expectations in her extended travels to remote locations and such geographically diverse places as the Indian Ocean islands, Indonesia, Alaska, Polynesia, Patagonia and Antarctica, travelling more than 100,000 nautical miles in a little over four years since delivery,” says Captain Richard Bridge.

“The helicopter deck has been used extensively for the embarked Eurocopter AS350B3 for a mix of transfers, sightseeing, heli-skiing and fishing trips, as well as numerous scientific missions. It will shortly be strengthened to be able to operate the larger twin-engined EC 145 T2.

“The main-deck salon with its glass sliding wall opening to become a part of the main-deck aft pool area has proved extremely popular and gives an option of opening the whole indoor/outdoor area for events and parties.

“Another area that has been used extensively is the expansive beach club – adding a large additional deck space, as well as a platform from which to operate the selection of tenders on board.

“The tender garages themselves have doubled as logistics platforms when operating in remote areas such as the Antarctic peninsula and during scientific missions in the Indian Ocean.”

Motor Yacht

Vava II (previously known as Project 55) is a beautifully designed 96m (314.96ft) motor yacht which was launched in 2011 by Devonport Yachts UK. The yacht's interior has been designed by Remi Tessier.

Currently under construction, this 96m fully SOLAS yacht is guaranteed to turn heads wherever she is seen thanks to the striking designs of Redman Whiteley Dixon. The yacht has an array of features including large tender garages aft and forward, fold-down beach club and variable depth swimming pool. Upon launch she will be the largest ever private motor yacht to be built in the UK. She is due to launch end of 2011.

VAVA II Yacht – Glamorous $150 Million Superyacht

Built in the United Kingdom and delivered in 2012, VAVA II yacht is an impressive creation by Devonport. She is one of only 34 yachts in her size range.

The interior of the VAVA II was designed by Rémi Tessier, a designer who favours simplicity and functionality.

Inside the yacht you can find a beauty salon, a gym, a beach club, an elevator, and to top it all off – air conditioning.

Not much is known about her interior, having mostly been seen by those fortunate enough to visit VAVA II.

There are not many pictures available, but if it’s anything like the gorgeous exterior, it’s surely a sight to behold.

Specifications

VAVA II yacht is 96 meters long (315 ft), has a beam of 17,3 meters (56,9 ft), and a 4,8 meter (15,9 ft) draft. She can reach a top speed of 19 knots, and a cruising speed of 15 knots.

The twin diesel MTU (16V 4000 M70) 2,333hp engines that power her, make it possible for her to reach those 19 knots.

She has a reach of more than 4500 nautical miles, and anchor stabilizers make VAVA II comfortable to be on. She has the capacity to keep up to 36 guests, and up to 34 crew.

The Vava II yacht has a steel hull and aluminum superstructure, and the exterior is designed by Redman Whiteley Dixon. She has four large tender garage aft and a pool with varying depth levels.

There are a total of six decks and is built like a small ship. A helicopter landing pad is also one of the many features of this yacht.

Drake Reportedly Partied It Up On A Yacht For NYE With Jake Paul & So Many Other Celebs

The year-end bash reportedly had 500 people in attendance.

Well, it looks like one famous Torontonian had fun on New Year's Eve, as Drake was spotted partying on a massive yacht.

According to Page Six , Drake rang in the new year with several celebrities in St. Barts. Some of the star-studded attendees apparently included Leonardo DiCaprio , Jeff Bezos, Dua Lipa, Mike Tyson, and Jake Paul.

The soiree was reportedly hosted by "club king" Richie Akiva, Ernesto Bertarelli, and Darren Dzienciol, and started with dinner but moved to a sprawling 315-foot, $150 million yacht called Vava II around 1:30 a.m.

Other guests also included Scott Disick, Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra, and Dixie D'Amelio. Meek Mill and Lil Baby performed for the A-list guests, according to Page Six.

As for how many people were there, well, it was apparently way more than what Ontario currently allows for indoor gatherings (which is currently capped at five people. )

A reported 500 guests were in attendance, and the year-end party went on well into New Year's Day, until 9 or 10 a.m., according to a Page Six source.

A few days into 2022, Drake posted pictures of himself diving right into cerulean blue ocean waters and enjoying a tropical paradise with some friends.

TMZ reports, however, that the Toronto-based rapper flew out of St. Barts the day after the swanky New Year's Eve party, as he was spotted at the Gustaf III Airport in St. Jean, a small airport on the island.
