The 64.41m/211'4" classic yacht 'Shemara' by the British shipyard Vosper Thornycroft offers flexible accommodation for up to 12 guests in 6 cabins and features interior styling by British designer Design Unlimited.

Iconic yacht Shemara cuts a fine figure in the water, showcasing elegant lines and an array of spacious living areas, this yacht is sure to turn heads wherever she goes.

Guest Accommodation

Built in 1938, Shemara offers guest accommodation for up to 12 guests in 6 suites comprising a master suite, four double cabins and one twin cabin. She is also capable of carrying up to 16 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht charter experience.

Performance & Range

Built with a steel hull and steel superstructure, she offers greater on-board space and is more stable when at anchor thanks to her full-displacement hull. Powered by twin Rolls-Royce Marine engines, she comfortably cruises at 11 knots, reaches a maximum speed of 14 knots with a range of up to 900 nautical miles from her 110,000 litre fuel tanks at cruising speed.

When not cruising Shemara has onboard an incredible selection of water toys and accessories for you and your guests to connect with the waters around you. Principle among these is a waterski that are hugely entertaining whether you are a beginner or a seasoned pro. Additionally, there are two SEABOBs providing agile cruising and diving. Another excellent feature is a wakeboard so guests can show off at speed. If that isn't enough Shemara also features scuba diving equipment, inflatable water toys and snorkelling equipment. When it comes to Tenders, Shemara has you covered - with two tenders, including a 7.32m/24' Semi-Rigid Tender.

Shemara and her crew are available for charter this summer for cruising within the Mediterranean. She is also accepting bookings this winter on request.

SHEMARA combines classics lines with timeless elegance. After an extensive refit, this historic vessel sails again and is an ideal charter yacht for those with discerning taste. Originally built in 1938 by Thornycroft & Company, charter yacht SHEMARA was requisitioned by the Navy during the World War II and served as an A/S vessel and later as a training vessel. Thanks to a major refit in 2014, this rebuilt and restored yacht now boasts a mix of contemporary interior while retaining many of her stunning and historic original features. As much of her original steel and teak as possible that could be retained has been, while updating everything that needed to be done. Not merely brought back to life, 64.7-metre SHEMARA has been so improved that she is now in her finest condition ever. What makes this classic yacht special is the sense of relaxation she exudes, while offering a variety of spacious external and internal living areas, including modern touches like a Jacuzzi and an outdoor massage area. Beyond the newly updated interior appointments, SHEMARA also boasts updated equipment and technology, such as a new Rolls-Royce diesel-electric drive train paired with twin azimuthing pods. She cruises at a comfortable speed of 11 knots. A grand staircase links SHEMARA’s four decks. Her 12 guests are accommodated in six cabins, including a large VIP on the lower deck and the owner’s suite set forward on the upper deck, offering high comfort and wonderful views. Luxury motor yacht SHEMARA is a beautiful and elegant classic mega yacht built in 1938 by Vosper Thorneycroft in Southampton, UK. Measuring 65 metres superyacht SHEMARA has a very interesting history  and was used as a submarine training vessel during World War II, following which she was purchased by her previous owner Sir Bernard Docker and utilised as a luxury yacht in the 1960s. In 2007, she was rediscovered by her current owner and in 2014 concluded her extensive three-year refit, turning her, once again, into an elegant and luxurious vessel .

The 2013/2014 refit of SHEMARA included a refurbishment of the crew cabins, bathrooms, mess areas and the main saloon by Trimline Yacht Interiors. The interior spaces have been revitalised sympathetically balancing new, contemporary twist to the interior with many original features paying tribute to the yacht’s rich heritage . The main saloon features a hand-made stone fireplace and timber panelling, providing a grand entertaining space.

SHEMARA’s hull was also rebuilt, using as much original steel plate as possible, but with a new underwater profile to aid stability, add a keel and a bulbous bow, as well as to allow for the azimuthing drives aft. Her superstructure was redesigned and rebuilt in aluminium , including the old wheelhouse, originally constructed in brass. The masts were substituted with carbon replicas, and the main funnel was remade in GRP.

The upper deck superstructure was slightly lengthened to accommodate for a spacious upper deck saloon and day bar, however she has maintained the original portholes, and her hull, from the sheer line to the waterlines, boasts the original plating.

The general arrangements of the interior are by Design Unlimited, featuring interior design by the London-based Studioilse. There is an esoteric mix of furniture and the wonderful giant formal saloon and dining room on the main deck offer fantastic place for SHEMARA’s owner and guests to unwind.

Accommodation aboard SHEMARA yacht includes six double guest cabins and a large VIP on the lower deck, as well as the owner’s suite forward on the upper deck. All decks are elegantly linked by a grand central staircase.

There is a great selection of deck spaces, including the observation deck on the top of the wheelhouse as well as the large sunbathing area aft on the bridge deck. The expansive aft deck boasts a fantastic plunge pool on the upper deck and an al fresco dining area on the main deck aft. On the upper deck, the side decks were maintained wide and are similar to the promenade decks of classic liners.

Comfort aboard SHEMARA superyacht is guaranteed by fully retractable active-fin stabilisers, station keeping is by a fully integrated Dynamic Positioning System, an important system upgrade to the regular super yacht outfit, however one that perfectly ties together the enhanced functionality of the propulsion system.

This historic vessel sails again and is an ideal charter yacht for those with discerning taste.

The 65m/212ft CLASSIC MOTOR YACHT was built by Thornycroft & Company in 1938 and refitted in 2014. She features contemporary interiors with art deco detailing, reflecting the period in which she was created. The accommodation sleeps up to 12 charter guests across six lavish cabins.

The main deck aft is an ambient place to dine day or night and up to 10 guests can be seated at the oval table which can be lit from above by the lighting in the upper deck overhang.

In the middle of the upper deck there is a sheltered skylounge terrace, which is shaded from the midday sun and provides a bar and seating along the sides. To the aft, the layout provides sunpads and a deep Jacuzzi where guests can soak while savouring a cocktail from the bar.

The sundeck aft has a choice selection of sunpads and sun loungers, and a set of stairs leads to the observation deck where guests can sit and enjoy panoramic views and a massage in the sunshine.

The lower deck contains the engine room, crew accommodation and guest accommodation which consists of a VIP stateroom, three double cabins and a twin cabin suitable for children.

On the main deck, the wide beam of the main salon is further emphasised by white-painted panelling and a neutral colour scheme using black and white tones with pale green and gold as accent colours. The stylish formal dining area seats up to 16 charter guests in the open-plan environment, surrounded by art deco fittings detailing such as the lighting fixtures and the original portholes.

Behind, two seating areas are created beside the port and starboard windows, each one having an over-stuffed leather sofa, a coffee table and armchairs. A second seating area is placed forward of the formal dining area, allowing guests to spread out or all come together for a cosy evening of games and conversation.

The yacht also has a separate lounge and the interior uses monochrome tones and rich browns for an inviting and calming atmosphere.

65M CLASSIC MOTOR YACHT Specifications

On the upper deck, the Master suite provides guests with elevated forward views, and guests have a TV in the cabin as well as a salon area with a chaise lounger. The Master suite study creates a quiet place for work, study or relaxation, and the en-suite bathroom has a grand tub and massive shower, both of which are decorated in grey marble.

This gathering convened representatives from local authorities, the police, the State Emergency Service and the public sector to delineate pathways for further community-led recovery

DNIPRO, 14 December 2023 — The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Ukraine and the Dnipropetrovsk OblastAdministration organized the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Local Development Forum with financial support from the European Union (EU).

The forum featured four panel discussions, focusing on enhancing community security measures in host communities, transitioning from emergency response to long-term recovery and development, fostering new socio-economic opportunities and reintegrating veterans. It particularly emphasized engaging displaced public organizations in the region’s recovery and development processes.

Over 100 representatives from local authorities, the police, the State Emergency Service and the public sector participated in the event.

Serhii Lysak, the Head of the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast State Administration, stressed that collaboration and communication are pivotal for the region’s communities’ sustainable development. “Constructive dialogue and communication expedite efforts toovercome today’s challenges, and expand opportunities for Dnipropetrovsk Oblast’s communities,” he said.

Stefan Schleuning, Head of Cooperation at the EU Delegation to Ukraine,  underscored that communities closer to the frontline need particular attention and assistance. “These localities have borne the brunt, sheltering thousands of people affected by the war, people who have lost their homes, support and sense of safety,” he said. “Events like the Local Development Forum enable us to better understand the needs of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast’s communities, and aid them to surmount difficulties caused by Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine.”

Christophoros Politis, UNDP Deputy Resident Representative in Ukraine,  lauded Dnipropetrovsk Oblast as a shining example of Ukrainian unity and unwavering support. “We at UNDP, and myself personally, are deeply impressed by the region’s remarkable transition from humanitarian aid to a focused effort on swift recovery and development,” he said. “This forum serves as a critical platform to collaborate on a comprehensive strategy for moving forward. Prioritizing recovery while incorporating the valuable experiences and visions of the communities themselves will be key to success.”

Following the full-scale Russian Federation invasion in Ukraine, UNDP and the EU remain actively engaged in supporting Dnipropetrovsk Oblast’s communities. Our joint efforts span from establishing shelters for displaced persons and backing displaced public organizations to organizing inclusive leisure activities for internally displaced children and parents.

The forum was organized by the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Administration with the support of UNDP in Ukraine in the framework of “EU4Recovery – Empowering Communities in Ukraine” project, and with financial support from the European Union.
