Best Catamaran Sail in Waikiki!

This is by far, the best catamaran sail in Waikiki! I grew up here and have brought my kids back 6 times. We usually go on another catamaran but they weren’t sailing on the day we wanted to go. The staff and crew of the Mai Tai were polite and professional and got us on their 3:00PM sail. It’s 90 minutes with all drinks included. They play Hawaiian music during the sail and talk to everyone. They made us feel like family and definitely showed us the Aloha spirit. We saw turtles and dolphins during our sail. The view of Diamond Head and Waikiki from the catamaran is amazing. It was $79 for the sail and worth every penny!

We booked this through Hula's Bar as they have a weekly charter with them. Awesome Crew, lots of cheap (for Waikiki) booze that is cash only. Fantastic views, great music, and had a really great time. My hat blew off and the Skipper turned the boat around quickly and got it! I was shocked! Will definitely do this again when we come back!

A highlight of our Hawaii trip for sure. The drinks were strong, the staff is very friendly. We had a great time, sailing out onto the ocean to catch an amazing sunset. Would recommend for any occasion, especially a celebration (birthday, anniversary, etc.) One of the most beautiful nights of our trip, that sunset just cant be beat

Ryan was an AMAZING First Mate! The whole crew was awesome. The Mai Tai Catamaran is the best cruise on Oahu. Me and my friends always choose them when we want to have a fun get together on the water enjoying the beautiful views.

Awesome crew!!! Beautiful views of Waikiki and Diamond Head. Delicious $5 Mai Tais and $3 for other drinks! You can’t beat that. Afternoon cruise was 1.5 hours. Saw many sea turtles. Free to sit wherever and roam around the boat. Depending on where you sit, you may get wet :)

Fun, fun, fun in the sun! We - myself, my wife, our daughter, our granddaughter, and her friend truly enjoyed the sunset cruise on the Maita'i. The mai tai's were flowing, the music was beating, and the boat was rocking. The captain and his first mate were funny, engaging, and were the best hosts. The weather was perfect and the sunset was amazing. We highly recommend a trip on the Maita's Catamaran.

The Maita'i is a state-of-the-art 44-foot catamaran that seats 47 passengers comfortably. It is United States Coast Guard inspected and certified. Choose from the following four Oahu sailing adventures.

Tradewinds Sail

Experience a classic sailing adventure along Waikiki Beach. This tradewinds sail shows you what the modern and ultra-sleek Maita'i catamaran can do! The wind and waves rush by while you enjoy the spectacular views of Waikiki and Diamond Head. Unwind with a tropical drink, enjoy the ocean breeze and look out for marine life, including turtles and humpback whales during the winter whale watch season.

Sunset Sail

Looking for something a bit more romantic? Then come aboard for Maita'i Catamaran's sunset sail. Leave your shoes behind, barefoot board right on Waikiki Beach, sail out through the surf line and leave the hustle and bustle of the city behind. Sit back and enjoy the island's beauty and watch the sun dip below the horizon coloring the ocean and sky in a rainbow of colors. Friday Fireworks Sail

Sail by the light of the moon while the stars guide your way on this romantic evening sail along Waikiki Beach. Enjoy the views of the city night lights in the distance as you glide across the deep blue sea with Mahina (Hawaiian for "moon"). It's a feeling unlike any other! This sail comes complete with the usual beverages, but with the magical night sky as the backdrop. Lots of fun and relaxation on a short 1.5 hour afternoon cruise. Saw hummingbird fish and turtles. Got splashed by the waves and enjoyed our time out on the water

Fun afternoon sail!

It was the perfect day to go sailing. It was raining a lot for the past couple days so I was happy that the weather cleared up when we went. Sunny weather, relaxing Hawaiian music playing while sipping on Maitais. A wond ... erful way to spend a Sunday afternoon. For the toilet, it is your standard boat toilet where you have to go down a ladder through a narrow tunnel to get to the toilet. Luckily, I didn't drink too much so I didn't have to use the bathroom during our 90-minute sail. Overall, I had a great time and would love to go again!

Are photo or video services available?

Most times a photographer is present and takes your photo prior to boarding, these can be viewed and purchased after the trip for a fee. Otherwise, feel free to bring your own camera.

Are you required to wear a life jacket?

No, life jackets are not required to be worn but they are available throughout the boat in case of emergency.

Can I go into the water on this tour?

No, you do not enter the water on this sail.

What type of boat will be used?

The "Maitai" is a United States Coast Guard inspected and certified 44ft catamaran that seats up to 47 passengers, but is limited to fewer for maximum comfort! With a safe, quiet, environmentally-friendly propulsion system and a specially designed "wing mast," this catamaran reaches incredible speeds. Two large safety nets can be found at the front for lounging and relaxation, and clean bathrooms are available on board.

What kind of beverages are available?

Mai Tais, Beer, Wine, Champagne, Juices and Soft Drinks are all available for purchase on-board. Alcoholic beverages are $5 each and soft drinks are $3 each.

Will we see whales?

Every year Humpback Whales migrate to the warm waters of Hawaii, and although not guaranteed, they are often seen between the months of December and April.

Maitaʻi is a Tahitian word meaning “excellence”. You’ll call it fun.

The amazing Maitaʻi Catamaran is an ocean adventure, sight-seeing tour and party all in one. This “state of the art”, twin hulled, 45 foot catamaran seats 49 passengers comfortably. United States Coast Guard inspected and certified, the Maita’i is ultra-safe and a great time for the entire family.

The front boarding ladder makes getting on easy right from the beach. From there, just kick back, have a Mai Tai, and listen to island rhythms from our Bose sound system. And don’t worry, there’s also a bathroom facility right on board. The best feature though, would have to be the Maita’i crew. They’re technically outstanding, and personally entertaining. If you want to laugh your #&! off and have a good time, this is your cat!

The Maitaʻi TradeWind sails are offered at 11:00 am and 1:00 pm. The wind and waves rush by on this unique ninety minute sail. The trade winds provide the backdrop as Maita’i surfs the swells off Waikiki. Mai Tais, beer, champagne, wine, juices and soft drinks from our bar are available for purchase onboard.

Maitaiʻs Sunset Mai Tai Sail is at 5:00 pm and the Mahina Moonlight sail is at 7:00 pm. What better way to to end the day! Barefoot board right on Waikiki Beach, then sail out through the surf line and leave the hustle and bustle of Waikiki behind. Sit back and enjoy Hawaii’s beauty as you experience a true Hawaiian sunset. Beverages include Mai Tais, beer, champagne, wine, juices and soft drinks.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

It is barefoot boarding.  We ask that you take off all footwear and carry it on the boat with you so that we can preserve our non-skid decks.

No, we do sell beverages on the boat ranging from $3 to $6 if they are not already included in your sail.

We have a 24 hour cancellation and rescheduling policy.  If you happen to miss the boat there will be no refunds or rescheduling.  Please make sure that you allow yourself extra time to get to the boat a little bit early.

We sell shirts, hats and photo’s that we take before you board the boat.  We also have 12oz stainless steel logo mugs that include a complimentary Mai Tai.

We do not cancel for rain but we will cancel for dangerous conditions.  The call to cancel would be made by our company.  No refunds or rescheduling if we do not cancel.

You can park at the Sheraton Waikiki Hotel’s parking.  We do not validate but we do sell validation for $3 per hour upon availability. If you spend $25 at the Sheraton Waikiki Edge Bar or Rum Fire, they will validate full validation for 4 hours.

You may bring bags on the boat with you.  We have storage between the seats however please remember that things will probably get wet while you are sailing.

We do not have dry lockers.

We only have a cash bar on the boat.

Yes, we do.  Children 3 and under are free but they still need a reservation.
