There Are Two Dial Versions of the YM II 116680

Despite the fact that the Yacht-Master II ref. 116680 is a young Rolex reference, the watch has already undergone a dial revamp. In 2017, Rolex furnished all Yacht-Master II models with a designed dial–but kept their original reference numbers.

What changed with the new 2017 Yacht-Master II dial?

• The square hour markers at 12 and 6 o’clock have been replaced by an inverted triangle and a rectangle, respectively.
• The thin baton hands have been replaced by the iconic Mercedes-style hands.

Everything else remains the same, which is to say that the Yacht-Master II ref. 116680 features a crisp white dial with blue accents and flashes of red. Moreover, the dial comes alive in low-light with blue-colored Chromalight luminescence.

Caliber 4161 is Based on the Daytona’s Caliber 4130

Powering the Yacht-Master II ref. 116680 is Caliber 4161, which is based on the famed Caliber 4130 of the Rolex Daytona . Like Caliber 4130, Caliber 4161 has a traversing column wheel and vertical clutch, which provides an instantaneous and precise chronograph start.

However, while the Daytona chronograph serves to measure elapsed times, the Yacht-Master II is a regatta chronograph with a countdown timer–a function specifically developed for competitive sailors. The countdown display, which is arched above the center hands, can be programmed from 10 to 1 minutes to permit skippers to follow a regatta’s official starting procedure. Plus, once launched, the countdown can also be synchronized on the fly to match the official race countdown.

It’s important to note that the release of the ref. 116680 in 2013 debuted the upgraded Caliber 4161 as previous versions of the Yacht-Master II were equipped with Caliber 4160.

Naturally, like all modern Rolex watches , the Yacht-Master II is chronometer-certified as indicated by the “Superlative Chronometer Officially Certified” label on the dial. Caliber 4161 supplies the Yacht-Master II with approximately 72 hours of power reserve.

The Ring Command Bezel Interacts With the Movement

Another impressive aspect of the Yacht-Master II’s functionality is that the 90° rotating bezel interacts with the movement inside the watch. Turning the bezel is how the user accesses and locks the countdown program.

The only other Rolex model with a Ring Command style bezel is the Sky-Dweller watch .

Whether you’ve bought a pre-owned Rolex watch that fits a little too tight or need to extend your existing Rolex bracelet for a more comfortable fit, you can add another link to your watch all by yourself from the comfort of your own home. Rolex watches feature some of the very best bracelets in the world, and in addition to being incredibly comfortable on the wrist, they also make it very easy to both add and remove links. First, What Kind Of Rolex Bracelet Do You Have?

Rolex has produced a number of different metal bracelets over the years. There’s the sporty three-piece link Oyster bracelet with a flat profile. As Rolex’s most popular bracelet style, the Oyster bracelet is found on both Rolex’s sports models such as the Submariner, Daytona, GMT-Master II, and Explorer, in addition to dressier models like the Datejust, Sky-Dweller, and Oyster Perpetual. The Rolex Oyster bracelet is available in stainless steel, gold, two-tone (steel and gold), and even platinum.

There’s also the dressier five-piece link Jubilee bracelet, which made its debut on the Datejust in 1945. This bracelet includes two outer rows of larger semi-circular links bordering a set of three smaller center links. As a more formal option, the Jubilee bracelet is typically found on Rolex dress watches such as the Datejust and Sky-Dweller, but it is also available on certain Rolex sports watches like the GMT-Master II. The Jubilee bracelet is available in stainless steel, gold, and two-tone.

Finally, there’s also the iconic President bracelet that Rolex produced to accompany the first Day-Date watch in 1956. This bracelet features a three-piece construction of semi-circular links and its design is instantly recognizable by Rolex fans everywhere. As Rolex’s most prestigious bracelet, it is only ever precious metals (either 18k gold or 950 platinum) and it can be found on the Day-Date collection and on select Midsize and Lady-Datejust models, which are known as Midsize President and Lady President watches, respectively. While Rolex has made other bracelets, such as the Masterpiece, Pearlmaster, and integrated bracelets, the Oyster, Jubilee, and President are by-far the most common.

A Quick Note About Non-Removable Rolex Links

For decades, Rolex bracelets have used screw-in pins to secure the removable links of the bracelets together. This makes it relatively easy to add or remove links to them; however, not every link on a Rolex bracelet is removable.

The links that taper in width near where the bracelet attaches to the watch are not removable, which means that you can only remove the ones with small screws on their sides. These will be located closer to the clasp on either side of the bracelet and they will all have a symmetrical width.

Additionally, certain vintage Rolex bracelets, such as the rivet-style Oyster bracelets found on watches from the 1950s and 1960s do not use screws to hold the links together and are instead built using folded pieces of metal that are riveted together. While this style of Rolex bracelet link can be added and removed, the process is quite a bit more involved than simply turning a couple screws, and we would recommend that this is something that you let your local watchmaker do for you.

Tools Needed To Add Links To Your Rolex Bracelet

Before you begin, make sure you have the correct extra link for your particular Rolex bracelet. Similar to their watches, Rolex enhanced, modified, and upgraded their bracelets over the years, and even though the core bracelet styles have not changed, the way that they are designed and constructed has evolved.

Therefore, if you’re adding a link to the bracelet, it should either be an original one that came with your watch or one that you’ve sourced correctly according to bracelet style/version/year. This is important since all bracelets have a bit of history, thus there can be numerous different iterations of just the classic stainless steel Oyster bracelet.

Additionally, you will also need a small flathead screwdriver to unscrew the pins that connect the bracelet links. Having the right sized screwdriver is highly important because too small or large of a screwdriver will risk stripping the small heads of the screws. Beyond that, it also helps to have a soft cloth to lay on the table while you work, so that you don’t accidentally scratch your Rolex while you are adding a link to its bracelet.

Adding Links To Your Rolex Bracelet

Decide where on the bracelet you want to add your link (try to keep the clasp as centered to the case as possible) and use the screwdriver to carefully unscrew the pin holding two links together. Pull out the pin and put it aside for safe keeping, as you will need to reinstall this same pin later on.

Take your additional link that you want to add to your bracelet and remove the pin from it. Align the extra link to an open link on the bracelet, thread the pin through the hole, and carefully screw it back into place.

Take the pin that you first removed from the bracelet and set aside, and then connect the two open links together, thread the pin through the hole, and screw it back, taking care not to scratch the bracelet or cross-thread the screw.

Make sure everything is tight and secure – and just like that, you’ve successfully added a link to your Rolex!

Grenada Prison Escapees Are Charged With Murder of American Couple

The couple, Ralph Hendry and Kathy Brandel, went missing while sailing off the coast of Grenada.

Three men who had escaped from a prison in Grenada and were accused of hijacking an American couple’s yacht to flee have been charged with their murder, the police said on Thursday.

The couple, Ralph Hendry, 66, and Kathy Brandel, 71, went missing while sailing off the coast of Grenada . They had been spending the winter cruising in the Caribbean in their catamaran called Simplicity, which was found abandoned in neighboring St. Vincent and the Grenadines on Feb. 21.

There was no indication in the latest police statement that the bodies of the couple had been recovered as of Thursday.

Trevon Robertson, 23; Atiba Stanisclaus, 25; and Ron Mitchell, 30, face two counts of “capital murder by intentionally causing the death of Ralph Hendry and Kathleen Brandel,” the Royal Grenada Police Force said.

The authorities from police forces in Grenada and St. Vincent and the Grenadines have given different ages and name spellings for the escapees.

The men were also charged with escaping lawful custody, housebreaking, robbery and two counts of kidnapping; Mr. Stanisclaus is also facing a rape charge, the police said, but no details were offered on those accusations. The three men made their first court appearance on Thursday, and are due back on March 27. The Royal Grenada Police Force did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The police had said in a statement released on Feb. 22 that three men who escaped from a prison in Grenada on Feb. 18 and made their way to St. Vincent using a yacht that had been docked in the St. George area of Grenada.

The prisoners were recaptured on Feb. 21, the same day that the couple’s yacht was found. At the time, the police said they were “currently working on leads that suggest that the two occupants of the yacht may have been killed in the process.”

At a news conference on Feb. 26 , Commissioner Don McKenzie of the Royal Grenada Police Force that “information suggests that, while traveling between Grenada and St. Vincent, they disposed of the occupants.”

During a Feb. 26 news conference , Junior Simmons, superintendent of the Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force, said the joint investigation into the disappearance with Grenada police was ongoing, and he said the couple was presumed dead.

The investigation revealed that while sailing from Grenada, “the suspects committed several criminal acts including bodily harm to the couple,” he said.

The couple, who were married for 27 years, were “veteran cruisers,” according to the Salty Dawg Sailing Association , a nonprofit that brings together a community of sailors engaged in long-distance cruising on their boats. The couple were longtime members, the organization said in a statement, and “they both contributed to building the S.D.S.A.”

In a joint family statement posted on the association’s website on Feb. 27, Nick Buro, the son of Ms. Brandel, and Bryan Hendry, the son of Mr. Hendry, said that “if we have learned anything from this tragic event, it’s that we know they left this world in a better place than it was before they were born.”

“Ralph and Kathy lived a life that most of us can only dream of,” the message said. “Sailing the eastern coast of the United States, living on their home Simplicity, making friends with everyone they encountered, singing, dancing and laughing with friends and family — that’s who Ralph and Kathy were and that’s how they will be remembered in our hearts.”

In a rare message from Helldivers 2 Game Master Joel, Arrowhead confirms the war is bugged and not being tracked properly amid a spike in crashes after a new patch

Joel wants a fair fight, but the wrong kind of bug is causing a problem

The wrong kind of bug has thrown a wrench in Helldivers 2 right as players eagerly throw themselves at a daunting challenge from Game Master Joel . Developer Arrowhead has confirmed that, as players had begun to suspect after barely making any planetary progress today, democratic activities aren't being tracked properly, skewing progress in the warfront.

"A message for everyone from the Game Master," reads a new Discord post from community manager Baskinator, sharing a missive apparently penned by Joel himself. 

"'Helldivers! We're aware of an issue with the Galactic War not tracking your effective spread of Liberty properly. We are investigating this urgently and will keep you posted as soon as we understand the issue and have a fix to communicate to you. Thanks very much for your patience while we squash some software bugs.'"

It's fascinating to see Joel break from throwing players into three days and five planets of hell just to say, hey, there's a little problem with that hell I promised you, give us a sec to fix it. I can't wait to see how people decide this fits into the lore.  And there was, indeed, a problem; Fori Prime is somehow at a stalemate despite 222,000 folks contributing. We may need tens of millions of players to take this week's planets in time at this rate. Helldivers 2 is incredibly popular, but it ain't that popular. 

Frankly, I'm surprised this is the first time this has happened. Arrowhead only just patched "more than a million accounts" looking to stamp out a difficulty bug , and there's a fresh friends list fix too , but the galactic war itself, which is surely enormously complex under the hood, has been rock-solid since launch (as far as we know). With any luck, this problem will be resolved quickly, either with enough haste that it doesn't derail the ongoing major order, with previously untracked progress restored, or with some sort of time bank that gives Helldivers back the hours lost to this bug. 

To make matters worse, it seems the whole game is on the fritz too, with these issues potentially tied to those aforementioned patches. (Anecdotally, I had a bear of a time getting the game to load at all while checking some things for this story.) In a separate post, community manager Twinbeard adds: 

"We know that many of you are [experiencing] a lot of crashes at the moment (seemingly linked to the patch deployed earlier today, which at least resolved the persistent friend request issue for a lot of players). Our team is deep down in the trenches digging into the issue as we speak. We are on alert ready to update on any changes here. We're very sorry everyone for not being able to supply you with the glorious feeling of bug and bot stomping and hope to have the game more stable as soon as possible."
