Some options rates in Grenadines

Transfers: Taxi transfers between airports and the marinas can be arranged by us. Provisioning for Your Catamaran: You can either do your shopping on the day of embarkation or pre-order with onboard delivery. Remember to stock your catamaran before departure , as provisioning can be challenging. The final cleaning package saves you from spending half a day cleaning the catamaran at the end of the rental: between 150 and 400 Euros. Optionally, a professional skipper costs between 190 and 220 euros per day, plus their food. A cook, approximately 180-200 euros per night, takes care of meals and dishes. A refundable deposit of 2000 to 8000 euros is required at the time of embarkation (not cashed). You can reduce this amount with the damage waiver option , which costs between 5% and 7% of the rental amount. At the end of the cruise, you must refill diesel and water: expect 300 to 900 euros per cruise.

Our local knowledge of sailing areas, charter companies, their catamarans, and the region is an asset in ensuring the proper preparation and choice of your catamaran and sailboat rental.

About The Grenadines

Why Start Here?

The natural beauty of St Vincent and the Grenadines is unparalleled

There are 32 islands and cays that make up St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG). 9 of these islands are inhabited, including the mainland St. Vincent along with the Grenadines islands: Young Island, Bequia, Mustique, Canouan, Union Island, Mayreau, Petit St Vincent and Palm Island.

The stunning Tobago Cays Marine Park is also located in the Grenadines. Offering the classic Caribbean white sand beaches, coconut palm trees and deliciously warm weather all year round and the perfect trade winds, it’s no wonder it is becoming a true hot spot for sailors and adventurers alike.

St Vincent lies about 80 miles west of Barbados and about 25 miles south of St Lucia. It’s at the lower end of the Windward Islands of the Lesser Antilles, roughly halfway between Antigua and Venezuela. The island has spectacular mountain scenery, with dramatic gorges and precipices, and thick, lush rain forest. Originally, the island was inhabited by Carib Indians who called it “Hairoun” – “Home of the Blessed”.

The Northern end of the island is dominated by Soufriere, a 3,000 foot active volcano which last erupted on Friday 13th April 1979. It was the third eruption of this century but the residents were evacuated in time and there were no casualties.

St Vincent is a most beautiful island, unspoiled and with almost theatrical scenery. The Botanical Gardens are the oldest in the Western Hemisphere and it was here that Captain Bligh brought the breadfruit after the mutiny on the Bounty incident. A direct descendant of the original tree is on display in the Botanical Gardens, which are the oldest in the Western Hemisphere.

Why you should start your charter from St. Vincent

There are many reasons to start your charter in St Vincent rather than from Grenada or St. Lucia. Here are a few:

  • Save $ and hassle. We’re right on the doorstep of the Grenadines. Choosing to start your charter from St Vincent means your first leg to beautiful Bequia is only 9 miles away. You will have gorgeous line of sight sailing for the majority of your sailing vacation. Flying into St Vincent may save you considerable additional expense and hassle. Starting from St Lucia to the north means that you’re going to have to start your charter with a 68-mile sail, including a 5-hour open-ocean passage, in order to reach the Grenadines. Similarly, starting from Grenada will entail a 6 or 7 hour sail, including a 3 hour open-ocean passage – and usually hard on the wind – in order to reach Carriacou, first of the Grenadines north of Grenada. It’s really not a great way to start a charter, particularly if you have inexperienced guests in your party.
  • No customs or immigration. Starting from Grenada or St Lucia also means that you are going to have to go through Customs and Immigration clearance procedures when entering or leaving St Vincent & The Grenadines. These procedures can be expensive and time-consuming and will also force you to stop at a specific Port of Entry when entering or leaving the St Vincent Grenadines.
  • Save valuable vacation time. Starting from St Vincent puts you right on the doorstep of the Grenadines. Bequia is only an hour’s sail over the channel. You’ve worked hard for your vacation, and every day counts. There are no customs and immigration clearance requirements when sailing within St Vincent & The Grenadines, no clearance fees to pay, and no forms to fill out and e-mail.

We want you to experience the very best of this area and are happy to work with you to create the very best sailing vacation. Have questions about what is right for you? Simply call our office or complete a contact form on this page and we will happily help you move in the direction you would like to go.

Yacht - LAGOON 620

This powerful deep-water catamaran combines the outstanding comfort of a luxurious houseboat with excellent performance, both under sail and engine power..

Designed by the architects Van Peteghem and Lauriot Prévost (VPLP) in association with the Lagoon R&D department, the 620 is an innovative solution to the needs of today's cruising yachtsman : Strength, comfort, performance and large choice of layouts.

In the dining room, the settees have been entirely redesigned, as well as the ceiling, enabling more effective indirect lighting, and it now includes the option of installing adjustable blinds on all the wide vertical windows.

On the starboard side, the master suite has also been substantially modified, with a washroom now placed aft on either side of the cockpit access stairs, making room for a large cupboard space in the bedroom. The forward starboard cabin, now a real V.I.P. suite, also benefits from this change due to the volume freed up by the repositioning of the master washroom.

Itinerary of a 10-day cruise on a catamaran in the Grenadines

Lila Kergall

This article retraces the adventure of Xavier and his friends, who sailed for 8 days in the Grenadine Islands on-board a Bali 4.8 in February 2022. What could be better for escaping the cold of winter than to get away during a catamaran cruise in the Caribbean? The archipelago of the Grenadines is known for being a small corner of paradise for boaters with an infinity of anchorages and islands, each one more spectacular than the next. This is the account of Xavier, who told us about his cruise in the heart of the Grenadines.

Itinerary in the Grenadines from the mariner

ARRIVAL AT LE MARIN...

Before leaving, we took care to purchase the equipment necessary to make the most of the cruise: flippers, masks, snorkels, but especially… a few cases of wine, delivered to the port of Le Marin, to enjoy to the full aperitifs at sunset, and evenings on the boat!

After having passed the PCR tests and gone through customs, we finally set foot in Martinique. Once we've reached the port of Le Marin, it's the moment of the reunion with Camille, the skipper with whom we discovered the wonders of the île de Beaut in a previous cruise. The Marina du Marin is lovely! There is Auchan just nearby for getting supplies and a great wine cellar not very far away, which is called the Îlot Vins Marin.

Exit from the Marin marina in Martinique

A day went by before the arrival of the last crew members. We made the most of this time to sail around Le Marin and try out the catamaran. On the first day we went to the beach of Pointe Marin just before Sainte-Anne and we lunched at the famous Club Med Buccaneer’s Creek in Martinique. From here, you can see Diamond Rock ! Located in the Caribbean, just to the South of Martinique, the rock owes its name to the brilliant reflections of its walls depending on the time of day, and to its pointed shape, which resembles that of a diamond. On the beach of Pointe Marin, at last it's time for the first bathe of 2022, in the warm, turquoise water of the Caribbean ! The next day, we went to admire the sunset at Les Salines beach , the most beautiful beach in Martinique!

When we were about to leave for a cruise in the West Indies, we had to avoid weighing anchor from the first day and continue directly in the direction of the Grenadines. Less haste, more speed! We needed time to rest and to spend 1 or 2 nights in the port before leaving. Stocking up on supplies, getting used to the boat... The body has to get used to the time difference and to the new climate. Departing for large cruises from the first day can be rather unpleasant for a crew which is not used to navigating.

Buccaneers beach in Martinique

SAINT-LUCIA AND SAINT-VINCENT...

Day 2: le marin → anse la raye, saint-lucia (30 miles) - 6 hours' of sailing.

On Friday morning, everyone was on-board. We set sail for Saint Lucia , first island to the South of Martinique! The first evening, we anchored in Anse la Raye on the island to the North of Saint Lucia. It's a lovely little village with very welcoming fishermen. The island of is known for its extremely lush vegetation and its two peaks classed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The latter are two volcanic spires which appear to emerge from the Caribbean sea and which are the pride of the inhabitants of the island. Once we reached Anse la Raye, small fishing boats proposed to sell their catch of the day, on the boat. We chose to buy crayfish for dinner, at around 20€ per kilogramme. It was delicious!

Anse la Ray in Saint Lucia

On the second day of the cruise, we continued our cruise to the South, in the direction of Saint-Vincent . Instead of getting off directly in the Grenadines and doing long sails, we preferred to take the time to go from island to island. The islands of Saint Lucia and Saint-Vincent have very lush vegetation, you should take the time to stop there.

For this second night on-board the catamaran, we chose the anchorage of Cumberland on the West coast of the island of Saint-Vincent. This stopover is an extremely exotic setting, and gives good protection from the trade winds , blowing from the North-East. Perfect for spending the night!

Cumberland

IN THE HEART OF THE GRENADINES...

Early in the morning, our catamaran resumed the route, doing coastal sailing along the coast under the wind of the island of Saint-Vincent. We passed in front of the famous Walilabou Bay . This bay is well-known since it’s one of the places of filming of many scenes of episode 1 of the saga "Pirates of the Caribbean" . If you get off on land, you can see the rest of the scenery from the film!

After having admired the bay from afar, we continued in the Grenadines to the island of Bequia . For the evening, we decided to anchor in the bay of Princess Margaret . We dined in the restaurant Mac’s Pizza & Kitchen , very well-rated on Tripadvisor. It's a restaurant at the water’s edge, there was a great atmosphere with music, and we were able to experience a fantastic sunset.

Bequia

Day 5: Bequia → Mustique → Twassante Bay, Mayreau (29 miles) - 6 hours' of sailing

Fourth day of the cruise. We raised the sails in the direction of the famous Island of Mustique . This island of the Grenadines is very enjoyed by millionaires and celebrities such as Mick Jagger and even the late David Bowie . On the island of Mustique, we lunched in a very famous restaurant which is called Basil’s Bar . The place is very beautiful, it's really a spot to behold! The advantage is that it was not too busy, and it was rather quiet.

In the afternoon, we sailed to the island of Mayreau to anchor at Twassante Bay between Salt Whistle Bay and Saline Bay. You should opt for this anchorage to the other two since it’s very sheltered and there are fewer people.

Basil's bar île moustique

In this fifth day of the cruise, we headed for the famous Tobago Cays just next to Mayreau. A real gem of the Grenadines, this reserve was an unmissable stopover during our cruise in the archipelago. The “Cays” are the five small uninhabited islands of the reserve, comprised of sand and coral. The loveliest coral reef in the West Indies is here. We saw iguanas, turtles and rays, it was extraordinary! For the anchorage, we hooked up to a buoy between the island of Petit Bateau and the island of Petit Rameau . We then dined in a small West Indian restaurant on Petit Rameau, they do crayfish and grilled fish. Once again, we really enjoyed it. On the agenda: sunbathing, swimming, snorkelling and paddle-board. We brought an underwater jet ski, a machine which propels you under the water. This equipment was perfect for exploring the sea beds! We stayed the night at the Tobago Cays, which enabled us to enjoy a little more this place of dreams.

Lunch at Tobago Cays

For this last day in the Grenadines, we went to see the island of Morpion, the smallest island in the world! It’s extraordinary, it was just a small sandbar with a grass hut with a roof of coconut leaves on top, it made us laugh a lot! The island of Morpion is located 7 nautical miles to the South of Tobago Cays. After this stopover, we decided to tack towards Petit Saint-Vincent . There are more rays here than in Tobago Cays because there are fewer people. The weather deteriorated the next day, we decided to start the return the same evening. During a cruise, it’s necessary to be ready to adapt depending on the weather conditions. We therefore travelled 35 nautical miles to reach the island of Bequia.

Morpion island

RETURN TO LE MARIN...

Day 8: bequia → chateaubelair, saint-vincent → anse des pitons, saint-luci (48 miles) - 9 hours' of sailing.

On arriving at the island of Saint-Vincent, we approached Chateaubelair and decided to anchor in a small cove hidden just nearby, there’s a forest of palm trees at the water's edge, it was magnificent! After having made a stopover to Saint-Vincent for lunch, we continued en route to Saint Lucia. Saint Lucia and Saint-Vincent are islands with amazing scenery, you can admire the cliffs and the forests which descend to the water’s edge. These are very beautiful coasts for doing coastal sailing. The return was rather athletic! We finally chose the Anse des pitons , to the South of Saint Lucia to anchor for the night, after a long day of sailing.

Sailing boat in the Caribbean Sea

Last morning of the cruise. The departure from the ’île aux Pitons was magical due to an unexpected encounter with a whale. The crossing to Le Marin was done twice. First we made a stop in Rodney Bay , in the North of Saint Lucia, for lunch. The fishing boats were still there, and we took the opportunity for a final stock-up of provisions. The sea was beautiful, less agitated than anticipated, and during this last crossing, each of the crew members discovered the pleasure of helming the catamaran. After 9 days of sailing, we finished by arriving at the marina of Le Marin before the sunset, for a last evening on the boat.

Anse des pitons

This was a really extraordinary adventure! This cruise in the heart of the Grenadines left us all with wonderful memories: astonishing landscapes, bathing in the warm sea of the Caribbean, white sandy beaches, encounters with rays and turtles, tasty barbecues, and the warm welcome of the West Indians… This itinerary is also a perfect example of understanding that a cruise may not go as planned, and that it is important to be able to adapt. The wind conditions can change the route. The health situation may delay the departure of the cruise. As the great seafarer Eric Tabarly said, “Sailing means accepting the constraints that you have chosen for yoursef”.

This is an example itinerary suggested by the BeBlue skippers who are experts in the navigation area. The route can be planned on the needs of the group before departure or during navigation.

Day 1: Check-in

Check-in available from 5 p.m. at the Marina of Le Marin, in the south of the island of Martinique. Le Marin is a picturesque town overlooking a bay surrounded by mangroves, surrounded by cliffs and islets, inside the isthm that protects it from waves and wind: it is the perfect starting point for a sailing cruise in the Grenadines! After the technical check-in and a short presentation of the boat, you can have an aperitif and dinner on board under the light of the last sun.

To set sail to Santa Lucia, the first island in the volcanic archipelago of the Grenadines, is home to two extinct volcanoes that dominate the island: the Pitons. The day will pass between dives in the clear waters or in the thermal waters of Diamonds Falls.

After breakfast to leave for Saint Vincent, where the lush nature is the protagonist, along with the crystal clear sea. You can go all the way to Oiwa Salt Pond, a natured and unspoiled nature park, where you can dive among the fish and sunbathe by boat. After lunch you can move to one of the southernmost coves on the island to be able to spend the night.

After breakfast to steer to Bequia, a visit to the capital Port Elisabeth where you will find the image of the Queen of England everywhere, demonstrating attachment to the former colonial power. After lunch sail to Mistique, the island famous for Blues festivals and to be a holiday destination for VIPs around the world. The place has numerous coral reefs, fabulous beaches and a dreamy sea. Here you can go snorkeling sessions to see the marine flora and the many underwater wrecks of the past. Guests can enjoy a rum by the sea and watch the sunset.

Today sail to Canouan, a small island in the Grenadines archipelago: an authentic paradise destination, where you can dream between luxury and elegance. After lunch, sail from the trade winds to Tobago Cays, a collection of six islands that are part of Tobago Cays Marine Park, the national park and nature reserve managed by the Government of St Vincent and the Grenadines. From the bottom develops the largest coral reef of the Grenadines Islands, with the famous horseshoe shape. The vegetation is typical of the beaches with the addition of dry forests populated by cacti.

After breakfast you can sail through the turquoise waves to Mayreau, a small island west of the Tobago Cays. Saline Bay is the most famous docking for sailors, characterized by the presence of a small natural pool formed by coral and populated by colorful fish. You will spend the night anchoring under the stars.

Today to steer for Petit Saint Vincent, a tiny private island with bright white beaches and excellent snorkelling backdrops. After lunch we set off for Sabdy Island, an uninhabited and unspoiled island pearl, where sand and palm trees are the undisputed masters. You will take port to Carriacou to be able to dine by boat and enjoy a good pina colada in one of the beach clubs.

Set sail for Palm Island, the emblem of Caribbean relaxation: just you, the sand, palm trees and a cool drink. Just after lunch sail to Petite Mistique where you can spend the day among beaches, coves and clear sea until you see the sunset.

After breakfast during sunrise, set off for The Pillories Island, a small island with white beaches and a distinctive population, where you can relax and swim among the reef. After lunch we leave for Bequia, where you will still give it to Princess Margaret Beach. The beach is located within the inlet of Admiralty Harbour. It was once known as the Tony Gibbons beach, until 1958, when the Princess Royal bathed during her honeymoon. It is a rather long soft sandy beach and fringed with tall palm trees and lush vegetation, bathed by a turquoise sea from the sloping seabed, perfect for bathing and long swims.

After breakfast at the first light of sunrise you make your way to Marine, you spend most of the day sailing to return in the Marina at 18:00 with overnight stay in the port included.

Day 11: Check-out

Disembarkation is scheduled in the morning at 9 a.m.

The itinerary might be subject to variations due to weather conditions, safety and technical evaluations of the Captain of the boat. This programming is intended as indicative and non-binding.

Day 8: check-out.

Among the islands we recommend to visit for the beauty of the colors and pristine beaches are the Tobago Cays, famous for the presence of the Marine Park and the coral reef in the shape of a horseshoe.

Mayreau, the smallest inhabited island of the Grenadines, a real unspoiled paradise where electricity arrived only in 2002!

"Mopion Umbrella" of Saint Vincent, an atoll in the crystal clear sea with only a straw umbrella in the middle. A unique and inimitable destination where peace and relaxation are the masters.

The two towering volcanoes in Santa Lucia called The Pitons, almost 800 meters high!

Highlights:

The Caribbean is not a single destination but an archipelago of more than 7000 islands, so David jumped at the chance to board Emerald Sakara for a cruise to some of the ultimate hot-spots.

Each day was a new adventure, and the first port was the historic town of Saint Pierre on Martinique. The island is a fascinating blend of cultures including African, Indian and Chinese, however Martinique is actually part of France. After exploring ruins from Saint Pierre's colonial history, David toured the Depaz Rhum Distillery and learned all about the production of sugar cane juice rum, why pirates love rum and of course he enjoyed tasting a few from their collection!

Cruising on Emerald Sakara makes for a luxurious holiday and the yacht was designed to sail into the smaller ports and harbours, getting you right to the heart of the action. In Mayreau, the smallest island of St Vincent & the Grenadines, the crew set up an exclusive buffet lunch on the beach while David explored the village and historic sites. After lunch guests were treated to local entertainment on the beach and Champagne served while swimming in the warm water!

From the moment he stepped on board, David was treated like royalty, and by day 2 the whole crew knew him by name, and what drink he preferred! It's the total package holiday that feels like your very own private yacht, with amazing food, spa pools, sauna and first-class excursions.

From one dreamy Caribbean destination to the next, the island of Bequia was a laid back paradise with no traffic and untouched white sandy beaches. On Princess Margaret Beach, David ate some delicious local seafood and sipped on an exotic cocktail at the iconic Jack's Beach Bar.

The scenery from the ship is nothing short of stunning, and the surroundings on board are almost as impressive! The 50 contemporary suites and staterooms are stylish and spacious, and most have step out balconies. For a special occasion, or just to splurge, the Owner's Suite is the most opulent with a separate bedroom, lounge area and a huge private terrace.

The next day's beautiful anchorage was Tobago Cays, several uninhabited islands in the southern Grenadines. Petit Bateau is the largest, but you can easily stroll around in a few minutes. The area is part of a large marine park and the protected waters are brimming with turtles and vibrant fish. On the beach, Big Mama's BBQ fed hungry day visitors with huge fresh lobsters (caught in neighbouring islands). Complete with million dollar views, David said it was a feast for a king! While the other guests enjoyed the kayaks and other water toys that the Emerald Sakara crew had provided on the beach, David took a short boat ride to a nearby island to snorkel with the turtles in the crystal clear water.

While at anchor, guests can choose to spend their days on or off ship. David took advantage of everything that the luxury yacht had to offer starting with a drink from the bar and a soak in the spa on the SkyDeck. When the weather allows, the Marina Platform opens up at the aft of the Wellness Deck. Swimming, kayaking, and paddle boarding are enjoyed straight off the ship. David took a dive with a Seabob for an exhilarating ride over and under the water.

After exploring the best of St Vincent and the Grenadines, the cruise headed north to Saint Lucia. David joined an Emerald Discover More tour through the rainforest to a cacao grove where he got hands on with grafting a tree, picking the pods and then he got to make his very own chocolate bar! The island has volcanic origins and the most dominant features are the huge lava dome mountains of Gros Piton and Petit Piton. No visit is complete without indulging in a mud bath at the sulphur springs.

David was new to cruising, and the thought of those giant cruise ships with thousands of people didn't really appeal to him. However, cruising on Emerald Sakara is a whole different experience. With up to 100 guests, it is an intimate and luxurious affair, with plenty of time and space to chill out on your own, with the Caribbean as the supreme backdrop.
